SAN ANTONIO -- "Beat the Heat!" had a whole new meaning in a sweltering start to
the NBA Finals.
Adidas Ultra Boost Yeezy Sole . The San
Antonio Spurs handled the conditions, and the team, and it sure helped when a
suffering LeBron James couldnt make it to the finish. Tim Duncan had 21 points
and 10 rebounds, and the Spurs beat the Heat 110-95 on Thursday night in Game 1
at steamy AT&T Center. With an air conditioning failure making it feel like
a sauna and causing James to battle cramps that knocked him out of the decisive
stretch, the Spurs pulled away to win the opener of the first finals rematch
since 1998. "After I came out of the game, they kind of took off," James said.
"And it was frustrating sitting out and not be able to help our team."
Manu Ginobili had 16 points and 11 assists, Tony Parker added 19 points and
eight assists and the Spurs -- 6 for 6 in NBA Finals Game 1s -- shot 59 per
cent. "Just very proud of my team," Parker said. "We kept believing, kept
pushing. We know its not easy." They host Game 2 on Sunday -- likely in cooler
conditions. James finished with 25 points but played only 33 minutes, and Miami
was outscored 36-17 in the fourth quarter. "It sucks not being out there for
your team, especially at this point in the season," James said. Dwyane Wade had
19 points and Chris Bosh added 18, but the Heat wilted in temperatures that
soared to 90 degrees in the second half. "It was tough on both teams," Spurs
coach Gregg Popovich said. "They were pretty dead. We tried to get guys in and
out. ... It was really hot out there." James, who had cramping issues two years
ago in the finals, had to ask for a break in the fourth quarter and was getting
treatment during a 15-4 Spurs run that turned around the game. James came back
in and made a basket that cut it to two points with about 4 minutes left, but
couldnt even run back on defence, promptly putting his hand up and lingering at
the baseline until help arrived to take him off for good. "I think it felt like
a punch in the gut when you see your leader limping like that back to the
bench," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. Danny Green followed with 3-pointer to
trigger what became a 16-3 run to end the game. "You could see the heat was
getting to a lot of guys. If I played as many minutes as he did, Id probably be
cramping up, too," said Green, who scored 11 of his 13 points in the final
quarter. The crowd chanted "Beat the Heat! Beat the Heat!" late in the game,
which was just what the fans themselves were trying to do. The Spurs said an
electrical failure for the power that runs the air conditioning system had
occurred. They apologized for the inconvenience but also seemed to poke fun of
it, playing songs with "hot" in the lyrics over the sound system. Fans were
trying to cool themselves on the hot night, a reminder of what it was like in
the old Boston Garden when the Celtics and Lakers got together. The Heat are the
first team since those Celtics of 1984-87 to get to four straight finals. They
are well-rested after a relatively easy roll through the Eastern Conference
playoffs, a key to keeping Wade healthy entering the finals. James was the MVP
of the series last year when the Heat rallied from five points down in the final
half-minute of regulation to win Game 6 in overtime, then won a Game 7 that was
close the whole way for their second straight championship. A rematch was widely
anticipated and was close almost throughout. The Heat led 86-79 after Boshs
four-point play with 9:38 remaining in the game, but it was all San Antonio from
there, and Wade said there were problems even beyond James absence. "Obviously,
tonight we wouldve loved to have him in there to finish the game, but weve got
to finish the game better," Wade said. The Spurs ended up extending their
NBA-record streak to eight straight home playoff wins by 15 or more points.
Their roster is filled with international players, such as Parker and Ginobili,
who both said they were used to playing without air conditioning overseas. Bosh,
scoreless in Game 7 last year, scored Miamis first five points in the Heats 7-2
start. But Ginobili came off the bench firing, making consecutive 3-pointers for
an 18-13 lead. Wade and James combined for six straight points before Ginobili
made another 3, and Patty Mills added one to close the first-quarter scoring and
give the Spurs a 26-20 advantage. The Spurs committed nine turnovers while
managing only 20 points in the third quarter, and Miami led 78-74 heading to the
fourth. Notes: James joined Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant as the only players
with 4,000 points and 1,000 assists in the post-season. ... Ray Allen moved past
Bryant and Derek Fisher into second place on the career list with 49 3-pointers
in the NBA Finals. Robert Horry, a former Spurs forward, is the leader with 56.

that Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito shared as offensive linemen for the
Miami Dolphins was protecting quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The roles are now
reversed. Tannehill is defending both Martin and Incognito, the central
characters in a bullying saga that has taken both offensive linemen off the
field and continued to evolve Wednesday when the NFL appointed a lawyer to
investigate possible misconduct within the team workplace. Shortly afterward,
many Dolphins spoke out about the matter for the first time -- and with at least
one questioning Martins motives. "I dont know why hes doing this," offensive
lineman Tyson Clabo said. "And the only person who knows why, his name is
Jonathan Martin." Two people familiar with the situation told The Associated
Press on Wednesday that Martin considered quitting football in the past, with
one of those people saying it was because of how other offensive linemen treated
him. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the organization has not
given specific reasons about his departure from the team. Incognito is
suspended. Martin left the Dolphins last week after a lunchroom prank, and
remains excused. "If you had asked Jon Martin a week before who his best friend
on the team was, he would have said Richie Incognito," Tannehill said, on
another day when dozens of reporters descended on the team complex. "The first
guy to stand up for Jonathan when anything went down on the field, any kind of
tussle, Richie was the first guy there. When they wanted to hang out outside of
football, who was together? Richie and Jonathan." The prank was a silly one --
when Martin sat down to eat, everyone else at the table stood up and walked
away. Its apparently a go-to comedic ploy for the Dolphins; Tannehill and
offensive lineman John Jerry both said theyve been targets of that very act in
the past, and that its typically just laughed off. Not this time. Martin left
the team on Oct. 28 after it happened. The story has continued spiraling ever
since, with questions about not only whether bullying was tolerated, but if
Incognito used racially charged terms against his teammate in phone and text
messages. Incognito is white. Martin is biracial. "Whats perceived is that he
was a racist, psychopath maniac," Clabo said, defending Incognito. "The reality
is Richie was a good teammate, and that Richie and Jonathan Martin were friends,
or appeared to be." Added Jerry, who is black, speaking about Incognitos alleged
use of a racial slur: "I know the type of person he is and I know he dont mean
it that way." How everything inside the Dolphins locker room is meant will now
be probed by Neew York attorney Ted Wells, the NFLs choice to dig into the
matter.
http://www.stansmithtrainers.uk/adidas-zx-flux-uk-sale.html.
Wells has experience with high-profile sports matters, having been involved with
special investigations into the Syracuse basketball sexual harassment case and
the NBA players union leadership dispute. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said the
team will co-operate fully with Wells investigation. "The type of culture that
Ive championed since the day Ive walked through these doors has been one of
honesty, respect and accountability to one another," Miami coach Joe Philbin
said. "I consider those to be hallmarks of this program, and I believe our
locker room reflects those beliefs. I believe in the men in our locker room, and
I believe in our coaching staff." Inside that locker room, players defended both
themselves and Philbin. "Whats been bothering me is kind of things that you hear
from outside this locker room about things that maybe undermine the integrity or
the leadership or the type of players and the class of guys that we have here
and the class of this organization," defensive end Cameron Wake said. "Ive been
here five years and coach Philbin has done nothing but turn this organization in
a positive direction from top to bottom." Wide receiver Brian Hartline said
seeing the franchise take hits over the saga was difficult to bear. "Now were
able to say our opinion and protect ourselves from being bullied by you guys
because we werent talking," Hartline said. "We werent fighting back. We never
said a word. We had to sit back and listen for a couple of days. Were kind of
tired of it." Clabo said theres a way the offensive linemen treat one another,
that no one is exempt from the ribbing and that its done to keep the mood light
in the room. "You have to earn the trust of your teammates in this league,"
Clabo said. "No one is going to walk in the door and just automatically be
somebody that you want to go into a game with and believe and trust and know
that that persons going to be there when hes supposed to be there. Those things
have to be earned." At this point, its unknown if Martin will have that trust --
or even if hell return to the Dolphins, period. Tannehill said that if either
Martin or Incognito returned, he would be inclined to try to move on from this
saga. "All I know about Richie is hes a great teammate to me," Tannehill said.
"I saw him being a great teammate all the time. Does he like to give guys a hard
time? Yes. Does he like to pester guys and have fun? Yes. But he brought a lot
of laughter to this locker room, he brought a lot of cohesiveness to this locker
room and he was the best teammate that I could ask for." ------

David Desharnais on Wednesday. Desharnais scored the tying goal with 37 seconds
left in the third period and added a goal in the shootout and the Montreal
Canadiens rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Devils. "Were finding ways to win
games," Desharnais said. "They took the lead and we had to open up things. I
just go in there and try to score (in the shootout). (Devils goalie
Cory Schneider) opened up his leg and I put it right there." Desharnais tying
goal in the third was reviewed by the NHL to see if he had lifted his stick too
high in redirecting the slap shot taken by teammate Brian Gionta. "I was sure it
was a goal," Desharnais said. "I tipped one earlier this year that was a little
higher than that, so there was no doubt." Lars Eller also scored in third period
and shootout for Montreal, which also beat the Devils in Montreal on Monday
night. Reid Boucher, credited with an assist on Michael Ryders goal in the third
period, scored for the Devils in the shootout, breaking a string of 20 straight
missed chances by the Devils, who are 0-5 in shootouts this season. The Devils
have lost nine straight shootouts, dating back to March 15 in Philadelphia.
Devils coach Pete DeBoer picked Boucher to take the first attempt in the
shootout, saying that Boucher "was feeling pretty good about his game and it
made sense." Boucher admitted to being nervous at first, but he seemed to play
better and better as the game went on. "I just heard a couple minutes ago (that
his shootout goal snapped a drought)," Boucher said. "We had the lead and it was
unfortunate they scored that goal at the end. I was pretty surprised (to be
picked). Its a privilege and I wanted to capitalize on my opportunity. A quick
fake shot, I kind of took a step over and shot a low blocker." Patrik Elias
unassisted goal at 18:54 had given the Devils a 3-2 edge, but Desharnais scored
for Montreal and forced overtime with 37 seconds to go. Elias had the final
chance to tie it for the Devvils in the shootout, but couldnt beat Canadiens
goalie Peter Budaj, who ended the game with 31 saves.
Adidas Springblade Solde. "Hes a great
shooter," Budaj said. "I was just trying to keep my ground and win that battle.
I was able to come up with the big save." The teams combined for five goals in
the third period. The Devils led 2-1 before Eller scored on a backhand to tie
the score at 2-2 at 16:10. Andrei Loktionov and Michael Ryder each scored in the
third period to give the Devils a 2-1 lead. Boucher assisted on Ryders goal.
Gionta scored in the first period to give Montreal a 1-0 lead and Budaj made it
hold until Loktionov scored 4:19 into the third period to tie it at 1-1. Ryders
seventh goal off a pass from Boucher broke the tie at 9:50. Loktionov received a
pass from Marek Zidlicky before he spun inside and let loose a sailing shot past
Budaj for a 1-1 tie. Ryders shot beat Budaj to the far side. Gionta scored at
10:36 of the first on a pinpoint pass from the outer edge of the left circle by
Daniel Briere. Gionta skated onto the puck at the crease and knocked it past
Schneider inside the far post. Seconds before Giontas goal, Devils rookie
defenceman Eric Gelinas had his shot at an open net bang off the right post.
Cam Janssen of the Devils and Brandon Prust of the Canadiens squared off in a
fight 2:35 into the first period. Janssen had hit Alex Galchenyuk against the
boards before he was challenged by Prust. Both received five-minute penalties
for fighting. Montreal held a 13-9 shot advantage in the first. Boucher got off
his first career shot in the opening seconds of the second period, a slap shot
that Budaj saved. The Devils pressed forward in the second period, and held a
10-7 shot advantage. Loktionov had a breakaway, but was stopped by Budaj. Budaj
also made a save on Jaromir Jagrs shot with eight seconds to go. NOTES:
Ryan Carter was placed on injured reserve by the Devils, who recalled Boucher
was recalled from Albany (AHL) to take his spot on the roster. Boucher leads the

MIAMI -- In their fitful, laborious search for a general manager, the Miami
Dolphins finally found someone to say yes: Dennis Hickey.
http://www.pascherstansmith.fr/adidas-originals-superstar-pas-cher/superstar-foundation-france.html
. The longtime Tampa Bay Buccaneers executive accepted the job Sunday, ending a
search that lasted nearly three weeks. Hickeys hiring came after the Dolphins
were rejected by several candidates. New England Patriots director of player
personnel Nick Caserio and Tennessee Titans vice-president of player personnel
Lake Dawson turned down job offers only hours before Miami reached out to
Hickey, while Cleveland Browns assistant general manager Ray Farmer withdrew
from consideration Thursday. Several others declined invitations to interview as
a replacement for Jeff Ireland, whose six-year stint as general manager ended
Jan. 7 when he and owner Stephen Ross agreed to part ways. Hickey has been with
the Buccaneers for 18 seasons, including the past three as director of player
personnel. He was their director of college scouting for six years. He was not
interviewed for Tampa Bays GM job when it became open after this season. The
Bucs won four division titles and one Super Bowl championship during his time
with them, but went 28-52 over the past five years and had spotty draft results
during that span. Hickey was among eight candidates interviewed by Miami, with
Ross aide Matt Higgins and executive vice-president of football administration
Dawn Aponte helping the owner with the screening process. The other finalist was
Dolphins assistant general manager Brian Gaine, who worked under Ireland. Some
candidates and potential candidates expressed concern about the Dolphins power
structure, including the role of Aponte, who clashed with Ireland. In a news
release to announce the hiring, the Dolphins said Hickey will oversee all
aspects of football operations and report directly to Ross. Coach Joe Philbin
will continue to report directly to Ross as well, while Apontes place in the
chain of command wasnt spelled out. Ross loyalty to Philbin, who is 15-17 in two
seasons with Miami, may have been a stumbling block for some candidates. In a
statement, Ross cited Hickeys willingness to work with Philbin as a factor in
the hiring. "When we started the search, I outlined qualities that I was looking
for in this position," Ross said. "These included a collaborative team-first
person who can work with Joe, demonstrated player evaluation expertise, and
someone who is open-minded and creative. Dennis fit all of these criteria." The
Titans Dawson released a statement saying he had declined Miamis job offer. "I
felt Stephen is a great owner, passionate and wants to win, but the details of
the offer didnt align with my vision," Dawson said. "I turned it down because it
wasnt an ideal fit for my family and me." So Ross turned to Hickey, who was
interviewed for the first time 10 days into the search. The protracted process
reinforced Ross reputation for having difficulty closing deals with the
Dolphins. In the past, the New York real estate billionaire has unsuccessfully
courted Peyton Manning, Jim Harbaugh and Jeff Fisher. Hickeys task will be to
upgrade the roster after Miami collapsed late in the season to blow a playoff
berth and finish 8-8. The Dolphins havent been above .500 since 2008, the
longest such stretch in franchise history. The tumultuous 2013 season included a
locker-room bullying scandal that drew national scrutiny, and a report on the
NFL investigation into the case will be released after the Super Bowl. "The
Dolphins certainly have talented players," Hickey said in a statement, "and I am
eager to hit the ground running with our personnel and coaching staffs. We will
all work together to construct a team that will make our organization and fans
proud." Hickey will be introduced at a news conference Tuesday. AP Sports Writer
Teresa M. Walker in Nashville, Tenn. contributed to this report.

.C. -- Al Jefferson is happy he didnt make the All-Star game.KANSAS CITY, Mo. --
Slugger Jose Abreu, All-Star left-hander Chris Sale and closer Matt Lindstrom
are on the disabled list. But the Chicago White Sox are still finding ways to
win. Adam Dunn hit a three-run homer and the White Sox defeated the Kansas City
Royals 7-6 on Tuesday night. "Any time you can expand a lead I think that those
are a lot more meaningful," Dunn said. The White Sox needed those extra runs as
the Royals answered with three in the eighth and one in the ninth. "Six runs
were not enough," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "The eighth inning put a damper
on it. We were trying to keep the score at two runs. "This is a club you go up
and down their lineup, you make a mistake and those guys are going to hit it a
long way. I guess you call it we caught a break, but it hasnt helped us any
missing (Jose) Abreu. Hes got a ton of power, too." Abreu leads the majors with
15 homers, but Dunn and Paul Konerko have hit three-run homers in the first two
games of this series. "Obviously, hes really good," Dunn said of Abreu. "I think
Paul and I hopefully can put some runs on the board." The White Sox out-homered
the Royals 5-0 in winning the first two games of this series. "Theyve got a lot
of power," Royals designated hitter Billy Butler said. "They live and die by the
long ball. They hit a lot of home runs and when they dont, they usually lose."
Andre Rienzo (4-0) limited the Royals to two runs and five hits over six
innings. He struck out a career-high eight. "He had some really good stuff
today," Dunn said. "Hes kept us in pretty much every ball game. ... When he has
three or four pitches working like he did tonight, hes tough." Ronald Belisario
gave up a run in the ninth, he stranded the tying run at second base to pick up
his first save of the season. The Royals record dropped to 5-15 against American
League Central opponents. Gordon Beckham and Conor Gillaspie, who each had three
hits, singled before Dunn homered in the eighth off right-hander Aaron Crow, who
had allowed two three-run homers in hhis past two appearances.

. Beckham has hit safely in 13 of his past 15 games, while Gillaspie increased
his average to .347. Royals rookie right-hander Yordano Ventura (2-4) took the
loss, allowing four runs and seven hits, including a Tyler Flowers home run, in
six innings. Ventura threw three wild pitches in the White Sox three-run fifth,
the last one allowing Beckham to score. Danny Valencia doubled home Butler and
Alex Gordon with the first two Kansas City runs in the second. White Sox
relievers Scott Downs and Frank Francisco combined to retire only one of the six
batters they faced in the eighth as the Royals scored three runs. Gordon and
Cain had RBIs, while Cain scored on a Francisco wild pitch. Zach Putnam restored
order by retiring pinch hitter Mike Moustakas on an infield popup and Nori Aoki
on a ground ball that shortstop Alexei Ramirez made a diving stop with runners
on the corners. Belisario, who threw 21 pitches in two innings Monday, allowed a
two-out single to Gordon, scoring Butler, who had doubled. Jarrod Dyson ran for
Gordon and stole second. Belisario struck out Cain on three pitches to end the
game. "Its the same," Belisario said of setting up or closing. "Its the same
going in. I do my job. I feel the same." Notes: Sale felt fine after a bullpen
session Tuesday and could come off the disabled list this weekend to start
against the New York Yankees. ... Royals All-Star C Salvador Perez is sidelined

Saturday, avoiding a trip to the disabled list. They did recall C Francisco
Pena, the son of Yankees bench coach and former Royals manager Tony Pena, from
Triple-A Omaha. Pena made his major league debut, catching in the ninth. ... The
Royals optioned IF Johnny Giavotella to Omaha. ... Lindstrom, who injured his
left ankle trying to field a bunt in the ninth inning, was placed on the 15-day

Haiti but grew up in Montreal, dropped Arreola twice in the sixth, and he was
punishing Arreola again when referee Jack Reiss stopped the fight with 58
seconds left in the round. The Klitschko brothers had held every major
heavyweight title for the past six years. Vitalis retirement into Ukrainian
politics in December opened the WBC belt for the 35-year-old Stiverne, a late
bloomer who hasnt lost in 13 consecutive fights. After beating Arreola by
decision last year, Stiverne hadnt fought in nearly 13 months while waiting for
Klitschkos decision to retire. The wait was worth it. "I studied and studied,"
Stiverne said. "I watched my opponent. I knew I could knock him out. ... I was
patient. The plan was to let him get comfortable, and he soon as he gets real
comfortable, then crack him. And thats what I did." Stiverne dropped Arreola
(36-4) for the first time with a sweeping right hand to Arreolas left temple,
sending Arreola wobbling and crashing to the canvas. Arreola rose and kept
fighting, but Stiverne put him headfirst into the ropes moments later with
another combination. After Reiss stopped the fight, Stiverne wept with the WBCs
green belt around his shoulder while promoter Don King celebrated at the Galen
Center on USCs downtown campus. "I knew it was a wrap," Stiverne said. "The way
I trained, I knew I could knock him out because Ive got the power." Stiverne won
a lop-sided decision over Arreola last April, breaking Arreolas nose in the
third round. Arreola, who acknowledged training poorly for that fight, felt he
lost the rematch when he got hit by the same punch that finished the first
fight. "He has a tremendous right hand, thats exactly what it was," Arreola
said. "I felt like I was winning the fight. He just got me with the same right
hand. Couldnt get away from it, and after that, its all she wrote." The
well-travelled Stiverne, who fought for Canada as an amateur boxer and trained
in Florida earlier in his pro career, worked out of Floyd Mayweathers gym in Las
Vegas for this bout. He is the first heavyweight champion of Haitian descent and
the first champ not named Klitschko since Samuel Peter, who was stopped by
Vitali Klitschko in 2008. Wladimir Klitschko, who holds the other three major
heavyweight titles, is eager to claim all four belts by fighting the winner. But
before that lucrative bout, Stiverne must fight unbeaten Deontay Wilder, the
U.S. Olympic bronze medallist and the WBCs mandatory challenger. "With all due
respect, I dont give a damn about Wilder or Klitschko right now," Stiverne said.
"Right now, its about what I won." Arreola has lost both of his shots at the WBC
heavyweight title, getting pounded by Vitali Klitschko in 2009 just up the
street at Staples Center. The Los Angeles-area native was attempting to become
the first heavyweight champion of Mexican descent. "I could have got back up
plenty of times," Arreola said. "Was the fight stopped a little early? I believe
so. But then again, the referee is there to protect me from myself. But I felt
like I was winning the fight." Both fighters took advantage of the small
17-by-17-foot ring at the Galen Center, which was hosting its first boxing card.
Stiverne landed the biggest shots in the opening round, but Arreola dominated
the second and third rounds with a withering series of combinations, trapping
Stiverne against the ropes. Stiverne laughed off the punishment and allowed
Arreola to keep moving forward, content to counterpunch. "I wasnt hurt,"
Stiverne said. "He actually punched me, my mouth was open, and he busted my lip.
I was trying to find out if there was food or something in my teeth, but it was
my lip. He didnt hurt me in the head." Stiverne hasnt lost since July 2007, when
he was stopped by Demetrice King. He fought to a majority draw with Charles
Davis in 2009, but has stopped five of his last seven opponents.

New York, NY - Montreal Impact forward Jack McInerney was named the Player of
the Week on Monday for Week 16 of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.
Phil Jagielka England Jersey . McInerney
scored an impressive brace on Sunday to lead the Impact to a comfortable 3-0
rout of Eastern Conference rivals Houston Dynamo at Stade Saputo. McInerney
scored his first goal in the 42nd minute when he got his head on the end of an
Eric Miller cross. He then found his second of the game and sixth in 10 regular
season matches since joining the Impact in the 75th minute when he spun and
half-volleyed the ball into the far right corner. It was also the 30th goal of
his career, becoming just the 85th player to reach the milestone in the league.
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a
panel of journalists from the North America Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group
consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.

meaning. Hes behind Brian Hoyer. Browns coach Mike Pettine said Hoyer is
"securely ahead" in the competition to be Clevelands starting quarterback this
season, but his lead over Manziel isnt "insurmountable." After the Browns ended
their three-day mandatory minicamp Thursday, Pettine sized up the battle as a
friendly fight that will heat up when the team opens training camp late in July.
Pettine said Hoyer, who is recovering from knee surgery and has been limited
during practices, still has a grip on the starting job -- for now. "Its been
hard to evaluate because Brian hasnt been able to take the 11-on-11 reps, but
when we put the depth chart together, Brian will be No. 1," he said. Pettine
agrees with Browns general manager Ray Farmers evaluation that Manziel, the
wildly popular 2012 Heisman Trophy winner and first-round draft pick from Texas
A&M, has some catching up to do. Manziel is trailing Hoyer, but maybe not by
much. "I dont think its insurmountable," Pettine said. "Brian is securely ahead
of him right now, but we will compete and we will decide. The issue for us as a
staff is finding the right time to name a starter. If you wait too late, then
nobodys ready for the opener, if you do it too soon, then it wasnt a true
competition. "That will be part of our discussions as well as far as OK, heres
the plan, heres a date that we want to go ahead and name him." During recent
workouts open to the media, Manziel has shown some of the flashes that earned
him the Johnny Football nickname in college. But there have also been moments
where he looked like another lost rookie. Pettine made it clear the Browns have
not made any decisions and the competition is still in its infancy. "We havent
really been in the mode of thinking, Hes this far ahead today. How much was the
gap closed?" Pettine said. "Theyre still learning the bbasics of the offence.
Harry Kane England Jersey. The rookies havent
been here very long. Theyre playing catch-up from a playbook standpoint. So at
this point, we really werent keeping score. " Pettine kept Hoyer and Manziel off
limits to reporters this week, hoping to contain a story thats expected to only
grow. In the next few weeks, Pettine and his staff will decide how to best
divide the snaps between Hoyer and Manziel. Pettine said its safe to assume the
duties will be shared. "I dont know how even well get it, but there will
definitely be times when Johnny will be with the ones (starters)," Pettine said.
"It would be hard to evaluate if we didnt that. If there wasnt a competition,
then it would just be strictly ones and ones, twos and twos. We havent met to go
over that." Pettine also plans to play Manziel with Clevelands starting offence
in exhibition games. "If a guy has a chance to be a starter, I would think that
youd want to expose him to a starting defence if he was going to be the guy
opening day," said Pettine. Manziel has made some headlines with his
off-the-field antics in recent weeks. He partied poolside in Las Vegas with
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski and was filmed spraying champagne on patrons
in a nightclub. Last weekend, he was in Austin, Texas, where he was photographed
lying on an inflatable swan raft in a pool, drinking champagne. Pettine wont
micromanage Manziel or any of his players as long as theyre not involved in
anything thats criminal or affects their jobs. But with a long break coming up,
hes hoping all the Browns steer clear of danger. "Its nervous any time your
entire team is dismissed," he said. "As a coach, you hear your phone ring and
you kind of look at it with one eye, hoping its not an issue coming up. We
talked to them about it. We wanted to make sure that they handled themselves
well. The advice was: Learn the system, stay in shape, stay out of trouble."

RALEIGH, N.
Authentic Doug Williams Jersey .C. -- For
more than 60 minutes, the Columbus Blue Jackets just couldnt manage to give
their power-play unit a chance. Once they finally went up a man in overtime,
Ryan Johansen made it count. Johansen scored a power-play goal at 2:40 of the
extra session to lead Columbus past the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 on Saturday
night. "I was talking to the ref, I was like, Come on, we need a power play,"
Johansen said with a laugh. "We have confidence in our power play, so if we get
opportunities, we feel were at least going to get a lot of momentum out of it
and get some chances." Artem Anisimov had a goal and an assist and Matt Calvert
also scored to help the Blue Jackets earn an important two points in their push
for the second playoff berth in club history and first since 2009. "We can pat
ourselves on the back for this one, but starting (Sunday) and the day after,
weve got to move on," defenceman Dalton Prout said. "Theres still lots of work
to be done, and for the most part, we control our own fate. Its a good feeling."
Jeff Skinner and Andrei Loktionov scored and Riley Nash had two assists for the
Hurricanes, who fell to 6-11 since the Olympic break. "We seem to be finding
ways ... to lose," Carolina captain Eric Staal said. "Its not like were
completely out of it every night. Were in the battle. "For whatever reason, we
cant seem to get that one that falls for us and it goes the other direction,"
Staal added. "Our compete, our work ethic, for the most part has been there.
Weve got guys that care. Weve got guys that try. Thats not our problem."
Curtis McElhinney made 25 saves for Columbus in his second straight start in
place of flu-stricken starter Sergei Bobrovsky. The decisive sequence started
midway through OT when Brandon Dubinsky rang the left post. Goalie
Anton Khudobin couldnt cover the puck, but forward Jiri Tlusty did -- drawing a
delay of game penalty and giving the Blue Jackets their first power play of the
night at 1:54. Johansen then ended it with a snap shot from between the circles
that trickled past Khudobin, who stopped 29 shots in his second consecutive
start for Carolina. Loktionov put the Hurricanes up 2-1 when he took a feed from
Nash in the circle and snapped the puck past McElhinney with 13:22 left. But for
the second time in the game, the Blue Jackets struck back quickly to tie it.
This time it was Anisimov, who pushed the rebound of Nathan Hortons shot past
Khudobin 50 seconds later. "We found a way to claw back," Johansen said. These
teams entered on opposite ends of the playoff spectrum, with the Blue Jackets
taking the ice in a four-way tie for two Eastern Conference wild cards. Carolina
is mathematically alive for just its second post-season berth since winning the
2006 Stanley Cup, but the Hurricanes -- who entered seven points behind that
cluster of four teams -- have a long way to go to catch up. "We dont think were
out yet," coach Kirk Muller said. "Were going to push." For much of this game,
offensive chances were few for both teams. Khudobin made the save of the night
midway through the first period when he slid across the net to thwart
Blake Comeau on a 2-on-1. "They knew we were on a back-to-back with travel,"
Prout said. "They came out hard and I think they carried the play. But we
weathered the storm and I think we fought back." The scoring pace picked up near
the end of the second: Skinner finally broke through for Carolina when he scored
with 3:31 left in the second. He snatched the rebound of rookie Elias Lindholms
shot and chipped the puck over defenceman David Savard for his team-leading
third goal this season against Columbus. Calvert tied it with 1:14 left in the
period when he snapped the puck past Khudobin after a takeaway -- the first goal
allowed by the Hurricanes goalie in a span of 121 minutes, 49 seconds. NOTES:

Jonathan Bernier appears firmly entrenched as their starter while James Reimer
is filling the back-up role. Reimer told TSNs Mark Masters on Tuesday that he
doesnt know if he will be moved leading up to the March 5 trade deadline but
added he wasnt interested in discussing it. "Who knows whats going to happen on
the horizon here and right now I dont know if I want to talk about it too much."
Reimer said he is at a juxtaposition, between being happy in Toronto yet
yearning to start games. "I love playing here and obviously I want to be a
starter, so its been an interesting year." The 25-year-old added that would be
hard on him to leave the Maple Leafs organization. "This is the team I was
drafted by and this is definitely a place I dreamed of playing my whole career."
Reimer has played in 24 of the Leafs 60 games this season and started 33 of 48
games in the Leafs lockout-shortened 2013 campaign. He also started all seeven
2013 playoff games.
DeSean Jackson Jersey. Reimer admitted that
seeing a large reduction in playing time has not been easy on him. "Anytime you
go from playing a lot of games to not its a hard pill to swallow. You want to
play, you want to be the guy & you want to give your team the best chance to
win. Theres no feeling like that other then when youre in there," Reimer told
Masters. When he asked if he has proven himself as a starter in the NHL, Reimer
said he didnt believe there was any question. "As far as Im concerned, I dont
think its up for debate. I feel like Ive had a couple of solid years where Ive
played really well. And obviously, last year went to the playoffs and led a team
to the playoffs when probably a lot of people didnt expect us to go. Yeah, I
feel like Ive played well and I dont think theres much debate for it. Maybe
other people think so. I dont know." Reimer has a 10-6-1 record with 3.25 goals
against average and a .911 save percentage with the Leafs this season.

has mostly good memories from his years in Houston, and his new team delivered
one more on Monday night. Michael Beasley scored 34 points, Ricky Rubio had 18
points and 11 assists and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Rockets 120-108 in
Adelmans return to Houston. Kevin Love had 29 points for the Timberwolves, who
blew open a close game with a franchise-record 42 points in the third, also a
season high for any quarter. The six-foot-10 Beasley, in just his third game
back after missing 11 games with a sprained right foot, set a franchise record
for single-game points by a reserve. He went 10 for 14 from the field and 12 for
12 from the free-throw line to finish just eight points shy of his career high.
"Thats what Ive got to do," Beasley said. "Ive got to penetrate, use my
athleticism." Minnesota shot a season-best 58 per cent (43 of 74) from the field
and eclipsed its previous high point total for the season by 14. And it couldve
hardly happened on a better night for Adelman, who turned down the Rockets offer
to renew his contract after last season because of philosophical differences
with owner Leslie Alexander and general manager Daryl Morey. "We didnt try to
attack on one pass, we moved the ball from side to side," Adelman said. "I
thought we could get to the basket if we did that. It was a really good team
win. A lot of guys played and a lot of guys contributed." Adelman revealed more
about the reasons for his departure before the game, half-joking that he was
still awaiting a phone call from Alexander. Adelman said he read in a local
newspaper column that he was to blame for the communication breakdown between
the two during his tenure. "I didnt think anything of it, until I saw the stuff
about how I never listened to anything," he said. "Im not real smart, but Im
going to listen to my boss. That just kind of turned me the wrong way." Morey
walked up and shook Adelmans hand during pregame warmups, and the two had a
brief, apparently cordial conversation. Adelman seemed more animated on the
sideline than usual, though, especially once the second half began. The
Timberwolves opened the second half with a 12-4 burst, capped by Loves second
three-pointer for a 666-60 lead.
Authentic Cedric Peerman Jersey. . Kyle Lowry
and Kevin Martin answered with three-pointers, and Lowry turned a steal into a
breakaway layup to tie it at 68. Minnesota then pushed the tempo and poured it
on, finishing the quarter with a 19-6 spurt. The Wolves hit 15 of 24 shots,
including four three-pointers, and went 8 for 8 from the free-throw line to put
together the highest scoring quarter against Houston this season. "It was just
like we were sitting there and we could never find any kind of rhythm
defensively," Houston coach Kevin McHale said. "We never got many consecutive
stops, we never really dug in and got things." Rubio, Beasley and Love led the
scoring barrage, with 32 points in the third on 10-for-12 shooting. Minnesota
led 96-81 heading to the fourth, and the Rockets hardly challenged the rest of
the way. "Its fun basketball when youre that efficient," Love said. "We got open
shots, set good picks and we just did the little things that helped us have a
big third quarter." Martin scored 29 points after missing two games with
inflammation in his right heel. The Rockets lost for only the second time in 11
games. "Just felt like one of those games when we were stuck in the mud," McHale
said. Minnesota finished 28 of 31 from the free-throw line and dished out 18
assists. The Timberwolves have won six of nine to get within one game of .500,
and theyre starting to get excited about the possibilities this season. "We know
we can go on big runs," Love said. "Its just the case of not getting down so
much and not having to fight back from such a large deficit." Chase Budinger
scored 13 for Houston, also outrebounded 40-34. The Rockets beat Minnesota
107-92 a week ago in McHales first game back in his home state since he
succeeded Adelman last June. The teams play again in Minneapolis on Saturday.
NOTES: The Timberwolves have five road wins, already matching their total in
each of the previous two seasons. ... Timberwolves G J.J. Barea (sprained left
ankle) sat out for the 10th time in 11 games. ... The Rockets had their streak
of games with double-digit leads halted at 13. ... Minnesotas field-goal

Sean Taylor Redskins Jersey . -- Having
completed their regular-season series, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal
Canadiens soon could find themselves battling in the post-season. Tyler Johnson
scored the go-ahead goal on a short-handed breakaway late in the third period
and the Lightning clinched a playoff berth with a 3-1 victory over the Canadiens
on Tuesday night. "Just being in the right spot and getting lucky sometimes,"
Johnson said. The win and losses by New Jersey and Washington gave Tampa Bay its
first post-season berth since 2011 and only its second in seven years. Montreal
ended a five-game winning streak, but also qualified for the post-season by
virtue of the losses by New Jersey and Washington. Canadiens goalie Carey Price
took some consolation in advancing to the post-season. "Were disappointed with
our game today, but big picture, weve got to be happy with that," he said. The
win moved Tampa Bay, with a game in hand, into a second-place tie with Montreal
in the Atlantic Division. The second- and third-place teams in each division
will meet in the first round of the playoffs. "Its just one game, but its really
the 76 games all bottled into one," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. "What you
are really striving for is to win the Stanley Cup, but you cannot win the Cup if
you dont get into the playoffs." With teammate Nate Thompson serving a minor
penalty for boarding, Johnson picked up a loose puck near the Montreal blue
line, skated in on Price and backhanded a shot inside the left post with 7:19
remaining in the game. Canadiens right wing Brendan Gallagher was on one knee in
the low slot when he redirected a rebound past goalie Ben Bishop to open the
scoring 10:18 into the first period. Ryan Callahan made it 1-1 on a power play
9:19 into the second, skating through the left circle toward Price and lifting a
shot high into the net. Tampa Bay was on a power play when Alex Killorn closed
out the scoring with an empty-netter with 45 seconds left in the third period.
Bishop finished with 25 saves, while Price stopped 30 shots. Tampa Bay winger
Teddy Purcell slammed a shot past Price with 11.7 seconds left in the second
period, but the officials ruled forward J.T. Brown made contact with the
goaltender and disallowed the goal. The call drew an angry response from Tampa
Bay fans after a replay appeared on the video screen. The crowd also became
irate when Montreals Douglas Murray drew a match penalty for an illegal check to
the head of fellow defenceman Michael Kostka, setting up a 5-on-3 advantage for
the Lightning with 2:13 left in the game. "If the crowds reaction was anything
after they saw it, then it seems that it was illegal," Cooper said. "Those are
the hits you want to take out of the game. Im sure Murray wasnt looking to hit
him in the head." Lightning forward Ondrej Palat, who earlier in the day was
named the top NHL rookie for the second time in three months, assisted on the
goals by Callahan and Killorn. NOTES: Tampa Bay C Valtteri Filppula, who came in

captain Steven Stamkos was sidelined with a broken leg for the first three

snapped the Jets road winning streak at two after wins against New Jersey and
the Islanders to start the six-game trip. The Jets record now sits at 12-12-4,
while their road record drops to 5-6-1. Ten of the 12 road games have been
one-goal games and overall, the Jets have now had 17 games decided by one
goal. It was an 11:30am et start in Philadelphia and the home team had far more
jump in the early going than the visitors. Scott Hartnell opened the scoring 48
seconds into the game as the Jets had trouble getting out of their own end. It
was the first time in four games the Jets did not open the scoring. Final shots
in the first were 13-2 in favour of the Flyers, and if not for a number of great
saves by Ondrej Pavelec, this one would have been over early. His best stop came
off Sean Couturier on a shorthanded breakaway. The Jets also ran into penalty
trouble at the end of the period and the Flyers started the second with a 5-on-3
advantage for almost a minute and a half. It was great penalty killing by the
Jets, in particular Bryan Little, James Wright, Mark Stuart and Jacob Trouba.
After the kill, the Jets gained some momentum and forced the Flyers into a
penalty. But another shorthanded breakaway and this time a goal for Couturier
made it a 2-0 game. It was the fifth shorthanded marker the Jets have given up,
most in the NHL. The Jets did outshoot the Flyers in the second 12-10 and had a
number of good chances but could not beat Steve Mason, who was terrific. The
Jets were the better team in the third but it was not until 12:53 when Michael
Frolik scored to make it a 2-1 game. Mark Scheifele and Stuart drew assists, aas
Scheifele now has points in four straight games.
Authentic Doug Williams Jersey. The Jets did
have two power plays in the third but struggled against the aggressive penalty
killing of the Flyers, going 0-6 on the day. Jets did go 4-4 on the PK. Final
shots were 34-26. Evander Kane left the game early in the second, the result of
a hit from Brayden Coburn late in the first. Kane tried it in the second but
left and is listed as day-to-day with a lower body injury. Pavelec has now given
up only seven goals in his last four road games and has dropped his
goals-against-average below his career season-low of 2.73. Stuart and Dustin
Byfuglien each had five hits, Little led the way in shots on goal with five with
most of those shots being very good scoring chances, while Wright was the best
face-off man winning six of nine. Byfuglien ended the night with 27:24 and had a
few power play shifts as a forward. It was Blake Wheelers 400th NHL game, but
despite a couple of chances has seen his goalless stretch hit 14 games. For the
second straight game, Olli Jokinen made two trips to the penalty box and has now
surpassed the 1,000 mark for penalty minutes in his career. Head coach Claude
Noel felt there were too many players that started slowly but "saying it was
because of the 11:30 start would be an excuse." He was disappointed with the
power play. "We cant get anything out of it and havent been able to through the
year. Finding solutions to that issue and that problem is certainly challenging
for us." The Jets will practice in New York the next two days in preparation for
Mondays game with the Rangers (TSN Jets and TSN 1290). Saturday is an outdoor
practice in Central Park.
