Goaltender Roberto Luongo is ready to return to the Vancouver Canucks lineup, as
the club assigned goaltender Joacim Eriksson to the AHL Utica Comets on
Thursday.

22 against Winnipeg. Luongo indicated the problem is not overly serious, but was
still not healthy enough to play against Tampa Bay on Wednesday night.
Eddie Lack drew his third straight start and fourth appearance since Luongo got
hurt, while Eriksson was given the backup assignment. Speaking to reporters for
the first time since he was sidelined, Luongo revealed how he got hurt, but
would not disclose the extent of the injury, other than to say it was a
lower-body problem. "It was an Evander Kane shot down the wing that originally
got me a little bit," said Luongo. "I tried to stay in the game a few more
minutes and then kept feeling it during the play and felt it again on another
shot." Luongo left the game late in the first period during a TV timeout after
consulting with trainer Mike Bernstein. The Canucks were 1-2 without Luongo in
the lineup.

of manager Kirk Gibson and general manager Kevin Towers. Contracts for both had
been set to expire after the coming season. The team would not divulge the
lengths of the contracts or even whether the lengths were the same for both.
Team President Derrick Hall said after Mondays announcement that Gibson and
Towers asked that the length of the deals be kept secret. "I dont understand why
the contracts of people in management are public knowledge," Towers said. "Its
between myself, Derrick, (managing general partner) Ken (Kendrick) and Gibby."
Last October, the team declined to exercise options to extend both contracts,
but Hall said he has felt all along that the Diamondbacks shouldnt go into the
season with the two facing the last year of their deals. "Theres constant
distraction and a labeling of whos on the hot seat," Hall said, "Are they
feeling the pressure?" Besides, Hall said, "These are guys I have a lot of
confidence in." In fact, Hall said he probably would have preferred to have the
extensions in place sooner. He said that when the contracts werent extended last
fall, it was with the understanding that there would be talks on a new deal for
both. Gibson and Towers have had three full seasons together, and their most
successful was their first. The Diamondbacks won 94 games in 2012 and took the
NL West title before falling to Milwaukee in five games in the divisional
playoffs. Arizona has gone 81-81 each of the past two seasons. "Im certainly
very excited," Towers said, "as is Gibby. This is a place where we hope we get
to spend the rest of our careers at." Gibson, a standout football player at
Michigan State, played 17 seasons in the majors, 12 with the Detroit Tigers. He
signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1988, earning the NL most valuable player
award. In the pllayoffs that season, he hit one of the most memorable home runs
in World Series history.
Cheap Jerseys Authentic. Playing virtually on
one leg because of a severe knee injury, Gibson hit a game-winning, two-run home
run off Oaklands Dennis Eckersley in Game 1, limping around the bases and
pumping his fist in triumph. The Dodgers went on to win the series. Gibson was
hired as Arizonas bench coach in 2007 and was named interim manager when A.J.
Hinch was fired on July 1, 2010. Towers, former GM of the San Diego Padres, came
on board as general manager in September of that year, and one of his first
decisions was whether to keep Gibson as manager. He did and the team went on to
have that highly successful 2010 season. But the Diamondbacks stumbled the next
two seasons in the vastly improved NL West, with pitching-rich San Francisco
winning in 2012 and the just-plain-rich Dodgers taking it in 2013. Towers said
he wants to develop "a ball club that not only has a chance to win the NL West
but hopefully go deep into the post-season." "I dont take these things lightly,"
he said. "There are only 30 of these jobs." He said that the jobs "arent easy"
and require the confidence of the clubs top executives and ownership. Towers
said that going into the final year of a contract probably would have been more
of a distraction for Gibson, given the high public profile of the managers job
and his duties directing a teams day-to-day operation. Pitchers and catchers
report for spring training at the Diamondbacks Scottsdale facility on Thursday.
They are the first team to begin spring training because of Arizonas early
season-opening two-game series against the Dodgers in Australia. Towers has said
the team wants to acquire a No. 1 starter, but added on Monday "theres not too
many of those guys out there." "The markets not the same as it was two months
ago," he said.

LONDON, Ont.
New Balance 580 . -- Max Gilbert captured his
first pro victory at the Tour Championship of Canada. Gilbert, a 23-year-old
rookie from St. Georges, Que., birdied on the penultimate hole to take the lead
then two-putted for a one-shot win over Trevor Murphy on Sunday. "When I arrived
here this week I didnt think I could win. Its unbelievable," said Gilbert, who
earned the $27,000 winners cheque after playing only one year for the Laval
Rouge et Or before turning professional. After a 9-iron approach from 150 yards
on the 17th hole, Gilbert rolled in a 20-footer for birdie to regain the lead at
20-under par. Murphy would give himself a 20-footer of his own at 18 to force a
playoff, but his putt carried too much speed and bounced off the back of the
cup, giving Gilbert a simple two-putt from 15 feet for the win. "I knew I was
going to need a birdie coming in, and thought I would need another one at 18,"
said Gilbert. Murphy carded a final-round 68 to finish a season-best second
place, while defending champion Eugene Wong of North Vancouver, B.C., shot a
final-round 67 to place tied for third alongside Alex Kang. Meanwhile, Mackenzie
Hughes of Dundas, Ont., won $10,000 as the Canadian player of the year on the

MIAMI -- Before LeBron James makes his next decision, Pat Riley will get a
chance to convince him to stay in Miami.

. Two people familiar with the situation told The Associated Press late Sunday
night that James will meet with the Heat president this week before making a
decision about where to play next season. The time and location of the meeting
were still being scheduled, said the people who spoke on condition of anonymity
because neither the Heat nor James announced their plans publicly. "In the next
two or three days," one of the people said. Monday would seem difficult, unless
James schedule changes. He has a commercial shoot planned and was expected to
travel to Las Vegas later in the day for his annual camp with some of the
nations best young basketball players, an event that opens Wednesday. James also
has been planning a trip to Brazil for the World Cup final on July 13. Theres
urgency from the Heat perspective as well. NBA players can begin signing new
contracts Thursday, with some deals already having been agreed upon and plenty
of others likely to fall into place in the coming days, so it would clearly
benefit the Heat to know James plans sooner than later. USA Today Sports first
reported the plans for James and Riley to discuss matters. The news of the
planned Riley-James meeting came toward the end of a wild Sunday, sparked by
news that one of Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilberts private jets was heading
to South Florida. And the plane did land at an airport in Fort Lauderdale around
6:40 p.m., albeit at a different facility than the flight plan indicated, for
reasons that were not made clear. The plane stayed for about 3 1/2 hours. It was
unknown who was on the plane. Still, the mere notion of a James-Cavaliers
reunion seems to have Cleveland -- the team the Akron, Ohio, native spent his
first seven seasons with before leaving for Miami -- on anxious edge. James
opted out of his contract with the Heat last month, as did fellow Miami stars
Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. James agent, Rich Paul, met with the Cavaliers,
Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks while the four-time NBA MVP
was vacationing last week. James decision would figure to set off a wave of
other deals. If he stays in Miami, that would almost certainly help convince
Wade and Bosh to stay with the Heat. If James returns to Cleveland, the
Cavaliers would more than likely have to make a trade of some significance to
open up salary cap space. Riley and the Heat won over James with their sales
pitch four years ago -- and Miami has been to the NBA Finals all four years that
it has had James in uniform, winning two championships. When James made the
highly expected move to opt out and become a free agent this summer, Riley said
through the team that he looked forward to having an opportunity to meet with
him and discuss their futures together. Now, it would seem theyll be discussing
if theyll actually have a future. The Cavs are hoping they can impress James
with a young roster that includes No. 1 overall draft picks in Kyrie Irving,
Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins. In the early hours of free agency last week,
Irving agreed to a five-year, $90 million contract extension the All-Star point
guard is expected to sign Thursday. Cleveland also has room under the salary
cap, but will need to clear more space to offer James a max deal. One stumbling
block for the Cavs could be the fractured relationship between Gilbert and
James. When James left in 2010, Gilbert wrote a scathing letter to Cleveland
fans, condemning the four-time league MVP. He also told the AP he felt James
quit in playoff games. ------ AP Sports Writer Tom Withers in Cleveland

KANSAS CITY, Kan.
Cheap Robert Quinn Jersey . -- Aurelien
Collin thought he had given Sporting Kansas City a hard-earned draw with the
hottest team in Major League Soccer. Omar Bravo ultimately did it. Bravo scored
on a penalty kick in the second minute of stoppage time, just a few minutes
after Collins goal was disallowed by the referees, and Sporting Kansas City
walked away with a 2-2 tie with the Los Angeles Galaxy on Monday night before a
record crowd at Livestrong Sporting Park. Bravo earned the penalty kick when
Frankie Hejduk was called for a handball in the box. He got Galaxy goalkeeper
Josh Saunders diving to his right and deftly punched the ball into the open net.
"I was a little bit unlucky, to be honest," Hejduk said. "It wasnt like I was
trying to do a handball." The equalizer came after David Beckham got a yellow
card for arguing the spot of the kick. "Not to take anything away from Los
Angeles, theyre a very good team -- theyre the best team in the league right now
-- but we had more at the end than them," said Sporting Kansas City coach Peter
Vermes, whose club is on quite a roll of its own. "We deserved the point." They
may have deserved more than just one. Collin appeared to tie the game when he
leaped into the air and headed home a pass from just in front of the Galaxy net.
Collin took off in a sprint to celebrate the goal and didnt realize it had been
disallowed until the crowd started booing. The referees had ruled him offside.
"Everybody saw the video. There was no offside," Collin said. "What do you want
me to tell you? It was another mistake by the referees. ... Theyre human, you
know? We have to live with it." The late drama overshadowed a stellar game by
Sean Franklin, who scored both goals for the Galaxy (14-3-10). Julio Cesar had
the other goal for Sporting Kansas City (9-8-10). "We had the majority of the
play in the game, had the majority of the chances," Beckham said. "But we also
gave too many balls away, gave too many restarts. When you do that against a
team thats pretty good in the air, it causes problems." Franklin gave Los
Angeles the lead in the 25th minute when he punched home a header from Omar
Gonzalez to hush the record crowd of 20,512 at the new Livestrong Sporting Park.
Cesar equalized for Sporting Kansas City in the 72nd minute, but Beckham found
Franklin on the wing just two minutes later. Franklin barely took a dribble
before unloading a low, hard shot past Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy
Nielsen to regain the lead. Short-lived as it may have been. "We did a lousy job
over the last 15 minutes of the game. No excuses," Galaxy coach Bruce Arena
said. "Our most experienced players were making lousy plays and we almost lost
the game." It was a testy affair between teams fighting for playoff positioning.
Landon Donovan, who came on as a second-half substitute, Hejduk and Beckham were
shown yellow cards for the Western Division-leading Galaxy. Roger Espinoza,
Graham Zusi and Collin each received a yellow card for Sporting Kansas City,
which remains second in the Eastern Division. Davy Arnaud came on for Espinoza
in the 64th minute for the first time since undergoing sports hernia surgery.
The longtime Sporting Kansas City captain made the most of his first appearance
on the pitch at the teams new stadium, helping to set up Cesars goal in the
second half. "It was good to have him back," Vermes said.

linebacker Jackson were on the practice field for a team workout that focused
mostly on conditioning before a five-day, bye-week break. "Its good to have them
back," coach Mike Shanahan said. "They were out there today in practice --
getting back in football shape. I know theyve been working out hard, but its
good to get started after the bye week with both of them." Jenkins tested
positive for a banned performance enhancing substance, while Jackson was
suspended under the NFLs drug abuse policy. Both said their violations were
unintentional -- Jenkins said he took an over-the-counter supplement that
contained an "obscure substance" not on the label, while Jackson blamed his
positive test on pain medication he took for a toothache. Both received
four-game suspensions. Because of the league rules covering the different drug
policies, Jackson was permitted tto be at Redskins Park during his suspension,
while Jenkins wasnt allowed to have any contact with the team.

Baseball is coming back to Montreal, as Olympic Stadium plays host to the
Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets in the first of two spring training games
tonight.
Womens Tyson Jackson Jersey . The game is

Major League Baseball has returned to Montreal since the Expos moved to
Washington in 2005. The last professional game played at the Big O was on Sept.
29, 2004, when the Expos were defeated 9-1 by the Florida Marlins. According to
The Canadian Press, Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre will throw the ceremonial first
pitch at tonights game. The mayor also plans to meet with John McHale Jr., an
executive with Major League Baseball, who will be in Montreal watching the
games. Coderre has been involved in the process of getting a baseball team back
in his city. Late Hall of Famer Gary Carter will be honoured in a ceremony
before the game, with his widow and family slated to attend. Carter died in
February 2012 after a battle with brain cancer. He was 57. Before Saturdays
game, an event will be held to celebrate the Expos squad that was considered the
best team in baseball before a players strike brought the 1994 season to a
premature close. The 94 team had baseballs best record (74-40) when the season
ended. The Jays will welcome Jose Reyes and Edwin Encarnacion back into the
lineup, as both have been cleared to play in this weekends series. Reyes has
been out of action since he suffered a mild strain in his left hamstring during
Saturdays game against Detroit. He has been listed as day-to-day, but the club
announced Thursday that he will be available. Encarnacion was struck by a pitch
on his right forearm during Wednesdays game against the Yankees. He was removed,
but has since received a clean bill of health. Encarnacion would have been
available to play Thursday vs. Philadelphia, but the club opted to give him a
day of rest.

Paul Goldschmidt seems to hit whatever Tim Lincecum throws at him. So does
Aaron Hill. Neither one is about to question why. Theyre just going to enjoy the
success while it lasts. Hill drove in two runs, and Goldschmidt had two hits off
Lincecum, helping the Arizona Diamondbacks send the San Francisco Giants to
their sixth straight loss, 4-1 on Friday night. "You dont want to take it
lightly because baseball can turn at any moment," said Hill, who is 11 for 19
against Lincecum. "He is a great pitcher and had a great career, and you dont
want to make it sound like its easy. Hes a great pitcher and its not easy." The
Giants still lead the NL West, but have lost nine of 10 to see a lead that was
once 9 1-2 games dwindle to less than four. The last-place Diamondbacks extended
San Franciscos misery behind a gritty effort by Josh Collmenter (5-4) and by
knocking around Lincecum (5-5). Hill had run-scoring hits in the fourth and
fifth innings, and Goldschmidt had a single and double to raise his average to
.577 against the two-time Cy Young Award winner. Collmenter fought through five
innings to win for the first time in four starts. Arizonas bullpen picked it up
from there. Three pitchers worked scoreless innings, and Addison Reed had a
perfect ninth to close out his 17th save. It was Arizonas third win in 10 games
and another frustrating loss in what is becoming a long stream of them for the
Giants. "Its been that way here through this tough streak," Giants manager Bruce
Bochy said. "We are missing the big hit, kind of keep the line moving. We had
some great at-bats, stretched him (Collmenter) out, but he dodged some bullets
there." Collmenter had lost two straight starts, allowing six runs in six
innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers his last time out. The right-hander
laboured through his night, needing 31 pitches to get through the first.
Pablo Sandoval had a run-scoring triple in the inning, chugginng his way around
the bases after centre fielder Ender Inciarte just missed a diving catch in the
gap.
Devonta Freeman Jersey. . Collmenter
continued to run up his pitch count, yet found ways to wriggle out of jams. He
walked two in the fifth inning and got out of that by striking out Sandoval and
getting Michael Morse to fly out to deep centre. Collmenter allowed a run and
four hits, struck out four and walked four while throwing a season-high 109
pitches. "I just continued to battle," Collmenter said. "I dont think Ive ever
had a clean, crisp outing against these guys for whatever reason. But I felt as
good as I have in the last few starts and was able to make some good pitches."
Lincecum was solid in his previous two starts, allowing five combined runs after
giving up eight against Cincinnati on June 3. Like Collmenter, he struggled.
Unlike Collmenter, he didnt always get out of it. Arizona scored two runs off
the right-hander in the fourth inning, on Hills single and a double by
Martin Prado. Arizona added a run in the fifth on a run-scoring triple by
Chris Owings, who was thrown out at the plate while trying for an
inside-the-park homer. Hill made it 4-1 with a sacrifice fly that scored
Goldschmidt, who improved to 15 for 26 against Lincecum with his second hit of
the night, a double off the wall in left-centre. Lincecum allowed four runs and
seven hits in six innings. "I left too many pitches over the plate, and you saw
what they did with them," Lincecum said. NOTES: The Diamondbacks signed
first-round draft pick Touki Toussaint. Arizona took the right-hander from Coral
Springs (Fla.) Christian Academy with the 16th pick in this years draft. ...
Giants OF Angel Pagan missed his fourth straight game with lower back pain, but
Bochy said he could be back in the lineup Saturday night. ... Arizona RHP
Brandon McCarthy will pitch in the middle game of the series against Giants RHP
