MIAMI -- LeBron James dispensed with his menacing black mask at the NBAs request
and switched to a clear protective cover for the Miami Heats game Saturday night
against the Orlando Magic.

first game since he broke his nose. He said he received word from league
officials Friday that they wanted him to instead wear something that would allow
opponents to see his face. "Its not a league rule, but its the leagues request
that you dont wear the black one," James said before Saturdays game. "The
reasons they told me didnt make sense to me, but Im just a player. I will abide
by the request." James scored 20 points to help the Heat earn their seventh
consecutive victory, 112-98. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said NBA Commissioner
Adam Silver spoke Friday with Nick Arison, son of the team owner, about the
matter. James said he didnt want to make a big issue of it. "Im good with the
NBA," James said with a smile. "I am not against the NBA. I had a request, and I
fulfilled it." Teammate Dwyane Wade said he warned James the league would give
the black mask a thumbs-down. "I told him after Thursdays game, You have fun,
because it aint happening the next game," Wade said. "It was fun. A lot of
attention, a lot of T-shirts are going to be made, a lot of Instagram posts. Now
we move on to something else." James agreed that the black mask was a marketing
success, with feedback he received universally positive. He said he may give the
mask to charity so it can be auctioned off. "Everyone loved it," James said. "I
got stuff, from You look very menacing, to You look like a superhero, to You
look amazing. A little bit of everything. No one told me it was terrible." Not
even league officials. "I think they loved it as well," James said.

MONTE CARLO -- Vancouvers Vasek Pospisil lost his career debut at the Monte
Carlo Masters on Monday, falling 6-2, 6-2 in the first round to experienced
clay-court player Roberto Bautista-Agut of Spain.
http://www.italiacalciomaglia.it/maglie-manolo-gabbiadini-italia.html
. The 29th-ranked Pospisil lacks clay-court experience and paid the price
against his 45th-ranked opponent who grew up playing on the surface. "Theres a
lot you can learn from every loss," said Pospisil. "This one was more about my
lack of clay experience, I need to get used to the surface. Working on my
movement will help a lot, its something I can improve." Eighth seed Milos Raonic
of Thornhill, Ont., had a bye in the first round and will face either Argentinas
Federico Delbonis or Taiwans Lu Yen-Hsun in the second round on Wednesday.
Pospisil was competing in only his seventh top-level match on clay and now
stands 1-6 on the surface. His only victory came in a Davis Cup tie against
Ecuador in 2011. Pospisil hasnt played much since the Australian Open due to a
back injury. "Considering how little Ive played in general, this was not so
bad," said Pospisil. "He played extremely well and didnt miss any balls. I
played well on my forehand but obviously clay is not my natural surface. "There
was really not much I could have done out there." Pospisil, who committed 18
unforced errors in the opening set, admitted he came to the court with low
expectations. "I didnt have too many expectations, Ive been dealing with a
couple of injuries and only played points on clay for the first time yesterday."
The Canadian said that while he did not want to go into detail, his back felt
fine during the match. Pospisil will move onto Bucharest and Munich over the
next few weeks as the French Open buildup continues. Elsewhere, Fabio Fognini of
Italy was two points away from defeat before rallying to beat Joao Sousa 5-7,
7-5, 6-4. Sousa led 5-2 and 30-0 on Fogninis serve, but the Portuguese player
lost his composure and then started complaining to the chair umpire at the end
of the second set and midway through the third. "Im not happy today. I was I
think a bit lucky," Fognini said. "It was a really difficult match." The
10th-seeded Fognini, who lost to title-holder Novak Djokovic in last years
semifinals, was the highest seeded player in action Monday in the clay-court
tournament. Fognini failed to serve out the first set at 5-4 and then his game
fell apart. "I was completely without energy, without power in my legs," he
said. "I have no idea what happened." After Fognini had served out the second
set, the crowd jeered Sousa -- who had received a warning during the first set.
At 3-2 down in the third, Sousa continued to grumble, saying "its a joke, its a
joke." Fognini will play Bautista Agut in the next round. Later in the day,
11th-seeded Tommy Robredo of Spain beat Belgian qualifier David Goffin 6-4, 6-1.
In other first-round matches, there were victories for Philipp Kohlschreiber of
Germany, Czech players Radek Stepanek and Lukas Rosol; and Spaniards Albert
Montanes, Albert Ramos and Pablo Andujar. Rosol beat Evgeny Donskoy 7-5, 6-1;
Kohlschreiber won 6-3, 6-4 against Simone Bolelli; Stepanek thrashed Ivo
Karlovic 6-1, 6-2; Ramos beat Jarkko Nieminen 6-2, 7-5 and Andujar downed
Edouard Roger-Vasselin 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5). On Tuesday, Djokovic plays Montanes in
the second round. On Wednesday, eight-time champion Rafael Nadal of Spain faces
Gilles Simon or Teymuraz Gabashvili, and fourth-seeded Roger Federer takes on
Stepanek.

Brazil -- Striking construction workers and security personnel clashed Monday at
Rio de Janeiros Olympic Park, the main cluster of venues under construction for
the 2016 Summer Games. Rio Mais, the consortium building the Olympic venues,
confirmed that random gunshots were fired as workers and security confronted
each other. There were no reports of injuries at the venue cluster, which is
located 25 kilometres (15 miles) west of central Rio. The work stoppage
involving more than 2,000 workers began Thursday, and Rio Mais said it was
unclear when work would resume. "We are worried by the fact we are losing time,"
said Mario Andrada, spokesman for the Rio Olympic organizing committee. "Beyond
that, there is catch-up to do and we will have to move faster to make up
whatever time weve lost." Andrada said he didnt have any details about the
gunfire. "Gunshots and violence worry us," he added. "But right now we dont know
where this came from." The labour dispute centres around which union represents
the construction workers, and also involves benefits and working conditions.
Workers also went on strike Monday in central Rio de Janeiro at the stadium that
will be used for track and field at the 2016 Olympics. The Joao Havelange
Olympic Stadium, known in Rio as the Engenhao, has been closed since last yearr
to fix structural problems with the roof.
http://www.italiacalciomaglia.it/maglie-alessio-cerci-italia.html.
The strikes are sure to capture the attention of the International Olympic
Committee executive board, which is meeting this week in the Turkish
Mediterranean resort of Belek. A team of IOC inspectors visiting Rio almost
three weeks ago, headed by Olympic hurdle champion Nawal El Moutawakel, said the
games faced "challenging deadlines." IOC President Thomas Bach has repeated
often that Rio "doesnt have a day to lose," and some fear it could face chronic
delays similar to those hitting the upcoming World Cup, which begins in two
months. The strike adds to a growing list of problems confronting Rio organizers
with the games just over two years away. Construction on the second largest
cluster of venues in northern Rio de Janeiro, in an area called Deodoro, has yet
to begin. Work on the Olympic golf course has also been delayed. Severe water
pollution in Rios Guanabara Bay, the venue for Olympic sailing, is a growing
concern with a test event scheduled there in August. IOC officials have said
they will not risk the athletes health if the water is unsafe. Many of the
delays are rooted in disputes among Brazils three levels of government over who
pays for what. Most estimates suggest Brazil will spend about $15 billion on the
Olympics, a mix of public and private money.

more years.

three-year contract Monday that will run through 2016. The 36-year-old from
Kitchener, Ont., has captured six NLL Champions Cup, all with the Rock, during
his 16-year career. "Colin Doyle is the face of the Toronto Rock," said team
owner and president Jamie Dawick. "Colin is a leader on and off the floor and
exemplifies everything it is to be a member of this franchise." Doyle is the
all-time franchise leader in goals (397), assists (585) and points (982). "There
is an unsettling feeling with regards to how last year ended and I am sure
everyone is excited to get back our winning ways," said Doyle -- the Rock lost
to Minnesota in the division semifinals. "I am looking forward to seeing what
(new head coach) John (Lovell) and his staff have in store for us. I am sure the
goals remain the same, but the path to get there will certainly be different."
The Rock recently made Doyle their one franchise player for the 2014 season.

cent more than the leagues maximum salary. The Rock have also signed veteran
defender Stephen Hoar to a one-year agreement. The signings are pending league

says her toughest competitors are local. That will give her confidence heading
to the Olympic womens boxing qualifying tournament after beating the best
fighters Canada has to offer. Spencer, from Windsor, Ont., dominated the final
two rounds in a 18-12 win over rival Ariane Fortin of Quebec City and won the
75-kilogram title at the Canadian boxing championships Friday. Spencer, who was
in tough against the powerful Fortin early in the fight, used her superior
footwork to take the third and fourth round and earn a spot at Mays world
championships in China, which is also the Olympic qualifier. Womens boxing makes
its debut at the 2012 London Games. "A lot of people look at this like its just
a national championships to get to the Olympic qualifier, but it wasnt just
that," Spencer said. "My toughest competitor (Fortin) is right here in Canada. A
two-time world champion. Years ago looking at this tournament and this fight, I
viewed it as a fight for an Olympic gold medal. "To win here means so much to
me, but I have to stay focused and realize that gold medal doesnt come until
August." Earlier, Mandy Bujold of Kitchener, Ont., claimed the 51-kilogram title
when her opponent, Amanda Galle of Mississauga, Ont., failed the morning medical
due to an injury. Spencer and Bujold help put the spotlight on womens boxing in
Canada with gold-medal victories at the Pan-American Games in October. Spencer
says the calibre of womens boxing in Canada is already high, and hopes the
Pan-Am medals will help draw more athletes to the sport. "The fighters that we
do have dedicate their lives to the sport," Spencer said. "Theyre not part-time
boxers. Theyre not hobby fighters. Theyre boxers by trade, its their life. "We
have a lot of depth in Canada and that was evident at the Pan-Am Games when we
won two gold medals and a bronze.

a rematch in Quebec next month for the Olympic qualifying berth. Early on Fortin
had the advantage until Spencer started playing to her strengths. "In the first
two rounds she fought more of Arianes fight where she stood with her and tried
to bang ... but thats not really her game," said Spencers trainer Kara Ro. "She
could do it, but shes very good on her feet, very good to stick-and-move. "We
went back to the game plan and completely destroyed in the third round using
what she knows best." Ro said that while there are tough fighters around the
world, the most challenging opponents are Canadian. She said Spencers confidence
will be high heading into the Olympic qualifier having already beat one of the
best in Foritn. "The level that Marys going to be at by July, theyre not going
to be able to touch her," Ro said. Earlier, Bujold booked her place at the
Olympic qualifying tournament, even if it wasnt how she pictured herself getting
there. "Its disappointing that I wont be able to defend my title in the finals
but its part of the boxing game," Bujold said. "Anything can happen and it is
out of my hands." Bujold defeated Andree Beauchesne of Quebec to reach the
final. "Im glad I got to get into the ring (Thursday) night for the semifinals
to show my skill. I came here to win and I think I proved that last night,"
Bujold said. "This was another stepping stone to make my Olympic dream a
reality, and I am looking forward to preparing for China and claiming my spot at

MOBILE, Ala.
Brandon Mebane Chargers Jersey . -- Catriona
Matthew remained atop the Airbus LPGA Classic leaderboard Friday, birdieing four
of the last seven holes to take a one-stroke advantage over Charley Hull into
the weekend. The 44-year-old Matthew had a 5-under 67 to reach 13-under 131 on
the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trails Crossings Course. The 18-year-old Hull also
shot 67. Matthew had six birdies and a bogey -- on the par-4 ninth -- in her
afternoon round. "I played actually probably pretty well today," said Matthew,
who opened with a 64 on Thursday. "I hit 17 greens, so I gave myself a lot of
chances. I didnt hole many on the front nine, but then the putter got going a
little bit on the back nine." The Scot won the last of her four LPGA Tour titles
in 2011. "Obviously, theres still 36 holes to go," Matthew said. "If its
anything like the first two days, were going to have to keep making birdies."
Hull also dropped a stroke on No. 9, her final hole of the day. The English
player birdied Nos. 6-8 and had five birdies in a seven-hole stretch before
closing with her lone bogey of the week. "Hitting it pretty straight," Hull
said. "Hit my irons good and holing some good putts. Missing a few putts, but
youre always going to miss a few putts when youre playing well. But Im just
excited about this golf course. I quite like it." Hull won a Ladies European
Tour event in Morocco in March a week before her 18th birthday. She closed with
a 9-under 62 and won on the first hole of a playoff. The teen is comfortable in
the warm conditions in Mobile. "The weathers been pretty hot, but I quite like
it," Hull said. "I think its a great place and its very green and a bit
different than I expected. The trees are a lot different, but I enjoy it a lot."
Anna Nordqvist, Jessica Korda and Hee Young Park were 10 under. Nordqvist, the
winner in Thailand and Carlsbad, had a 66. Korda, the Bahamas champion, shot 67,
and Park had a 66. "I got the ball close and was able to kind of make a couple
putts on my front nine, which was the back nine," Korda said "Hopefully, I can
keep that momentum going." Park, playing alongside Matthew, eagled the par-5
16th for the second straight day. Kraft Nabisco winner Lexi Thompson and Jenny
Shin were 9 under. Thompson had a 65, and Shin shot 68. Second-ranked Stacy
Lewis, No. 4 Suzann Pettersen and three-time Mobile winner Se Ri Park topped the
group at 8 under. Lewis, the 2012 champion who won the North Texas LPGA Shootout
three weeks ago, matched Pettersen with a 70. Pak, the 2010 winner who also won
the Tournament of Champions at the course in 2001 and 2002, had a 69. Michelle
Wie, the winner in Hawaii, was 7 under. She followed her opening 71 with a 66.
Top-ranked Inbee Park missed the cut with rounds of 74 and 76, ending her cuts
streak at 22. She had 34 putts in the second round and played her final nine in
4-over 40. The South Korean star is winless in nine tour starts this season

Even by the Detroit Pistons recent standards, this was an abrupt change. Detroit
fired coach Maurice Cheeks on Sunday after less than a year as coach, with the
Pistons languishing well below .500 despite off-season moves aimed at putting
the struggling franchise back in contention. Detroit is 21-29, and although the
Pistons still have a decent chance to make the playoffs in the Eastern
Conference, their new roster has performed erratically. "This was a difficult
decision for the organization to make but we needed to make a change," team
president Joe Dumars said in a statement. "We have great respect for Maurice and
appreciate his hard work." A person with knowledge of Detroits plans said
assistant John Loyer will take over as interim coach. The person spoke on
condition of anonymity because the team had not announced an interim coach yet.
The Pistons havent made the playoffs since being swept in the first round in
2009 -- in Michael Currys only season as their coach. Since then, Detroit has
gone through two seasons under John Kuester and two under Lawrence Frank. After
neither of them could make any real progress, Cheeks was brought in as Detroits
ninth coach since the 1999-2000 season. In addition to hiring Cheeks last
off-season, Detroit signed forward Josh Smith and traded for point guard
Brandon Jennings, trying to bolster a roster that already included young big men
Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe. But the mix has been uninspiring for the most
part. The Pistons have had problems defensively and have struggled to close out
games in the fourth quarter. The poor attendance thats become commonplace at The
Palace hasnt really improved -- and Detroits 11-15 home record hasnt helped.
"Our record does not reflect our talent and we simply need a change," Pistons
owner Tom Gores said Sunday. "We have not made the kind of progress that we
should have over the first half of the season. This is a young team and we knew
there would be growing pains, but we can be patient only as long as there is
progress." Detroit is only a half-game out of the final playoff spot in the
East, but thats largely because so many teams in the conference are having
similar problems. The Pistons are only three games better than they were after
50 games last season. Cheeks became the first coach to leave or be fired after
50 games or fewer with an NBA team since Bob Weiss, who coached only 30 games
forr Seattle in 2005-06, according to STATS.
Philip Rivers Chargers Jersey. That does not
include interim coaches. "The responsibility does not fall squarely on any one
individual, but right now this change is a necessary step toward turning this
thing around," Gores said. "I still have a lot of hope for this season and I
expect our players to step up. I respect and appreciate Maurice Cheeks and thank
him for his efforts; we just require a different approach." The Pistons have won
four of six, including back-to-back blowouts at home against Brooklyn and Denver
on Friday and Saturday. They host San Antonio on Monday night, and the team has
not made any announcement about who will coach that game. Cheeks previously
coached Portland and Philadelphia, a team he won an NBA title with as a point
guard. The Pistons gave him his third shot to be an NBA head coach in June.
Gores was in attendance at a recent game and said he thought the team was better
than its record. "Im not satisfied. Our job is to make sure that our players are
at their maximum," Gores said after that Feb. 1 game against Philadelphia. "Im
not satisfied with the job Im doing. Im not satisfied with the job anyone is
doing." At that point, speculation centred around the upcoming trade deadline
and the possibility that Detroit might shake up its roster again. Now, the
Pistons are hoping another coaching change can improve the franchises outlook.
Detroit made the conference finals six straight years from 2003-08, but the
teams fall was swift after that, and rebuilding has been difficult. This year
marks the 10th anniversary of the Pistons championship in 2004 -- and the
atmosphere at The Palace could hardly be more different. "Were focused on how to
make our players the best," Gores said earlier this month. "I dont think weve
done our best job of making sure they are at their best. They are working at 100
per cent, but these are young men who need a lot of preparation." The Pistons
became the third major pro team in Detroit to make a coaching or managerial
change in the past six months. Jim Leyland of the Tigers stepped down and was
replaced by Brad Ausmus after last season, and the Lions fired Jim Schwartz in
late December, eventually replacing him with Jim Caldwell. So Ausmus, who has
yet to manage a game, is now the second-longest tenured manager or coach of the
citys four major pro teams. Yahoo Sports first reported Cheeks firing.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.
Corey Graham Jersey . -- One swish after
another, Damian Lillard pulled Portland closer. One or two more, and he mightve
pulled off one of the NBAs most improbable comebacks this season.
DeMarcus Cousins tied a season-high with 35 points to go with 13 rebounds,
Rudy Gay scored 32 points and the Sacramento Kings held off a furious rally by
Lillard to beat the Trail Blazers 123-119 on Tuesday night. "Thats the craziest
game Ive ever been a part of," Cousins said. "I could not wait until the end. I
dont ever want to be in a situation with the ball in Damian Lillards hands. Im
glad we got the win, but that was a scary thing." Cousins and Gay provided the
spark for a 32-12 run at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth
quarters that put Sacramento ahead by 19 points. Gay fouled out with 4:12
remaining, and the Blazers nearly rallied back. After scoring just 13 points in
the third quarter, Portland had 46 points in the final period. Lillard alone
scored 26 of his 41 points in the fourth to power Portland within two in the
final minute. But the Kings made just enough free throws to hold off the
Blazers, who have lost four of their last six games. "That clock was moving
very, very slow," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "Damian just kept on coming."
LaMarcus Aldridge added 24 points and eight rebounds, and Nicolas Batum finished
with 11 points, 11 rebounds and five assists while playing with a fractured left
middle finger in Portlands latest loss. The Kings had dropped two straight after
beating top contenders Miami and Houston. Sacramento held a players-only meeting
on Sunday, and the Kings emerged to knock off another one of the NBAs best. Gay
made consecutive 3-pointers, a three-point play and a layup during Sacramentos
surge in the fourth. Cousins also put back a rebound and hit a jumper to help
the Kings go ahead 102-83 with 7:54 remaining. Sacramento led 117-105 with 1:12
to play when Lillard turned into a one-man wrecking crew. The reigning NBA
Rookie of the Year made three 3-pointers, a fast-break layup and was fouled
shooting another from beyond the arc -- which just rimmed out. He made all three
free throws to slice Sacramentos lead to 121-119 with 16.5 seconds left. "Once I
make a few, I can get going," Lillard said. Isaiah Thomas hit two free throws
before Lillard missed from long range to all but end the comeback. Lillard shot
13 of 24 from the floor and added seven rebounds and four assists. "Hes a
competitor and at no time does he ever think hes out of a game," Blazers coach
Terry Stotts said. "Hes done that a lot in the two years hes been here. Hes a
special player." In a matchup between one of the best and one of the worst teams
in the West, Sacramento flipped the script on a Blazers team that had cruised
through most of its schedule. The Blazers also had beaten the Kings on
consecutive nights in November, winning 104-91 in Portland and 96-85 in
Sacramento. The Kings started three players who did not start in the two
previous games against Portland -- most notably Gay, who was acquired from
Toronto in a seven-player trade in early December. That included Marcus Thornton
moving back in the starting lineup for Sacramento, replacing seventh overall
pick Ben McLemore. Thornton finished with three points and eight rebounds, and
McLemore had two points and two assists. The Blazers still outscored Sacramento
35-24 in the first quarter and seemed ready to go 3-0 against the Kings this
season. Portland shot 63.2 per cent from the floor and made 10 of 11 free throws
in the period. Instead, the Kings opened the second quarter on a 14-5 run led by
mostly reserves. The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half, and the
Blazers held a 60-55 lead at the break. Thomas, who had 22 points and eight
assists, hit a pair of 3s to highlight a 13-2 spurt for Sacramento to start the
third quarter. Portlands topsy-turvy second half just wasnt enough to rally
behind Lillard. "I just didnt want to lose the game," Lillard said. "We had some
good spurts on offence, then some bad spurts on defence, then bad spurts on
offence, and then good defence. We just need to be more consistent. But when it
came down to it we still had a chance to win the game. Thats all I was thinking
about." NOTES: C.J. McCollum, the 10th overall pick in the NBA draft out of
Lehigh, was in Portlands active lineup for the first time this season after
fracturing his left foot in training camp. He did not play. "I just didnt think
tonight was the night," Stotts said ... The Blazers and Kings meet for the final
time this season April 9 in Portland.

The Chicago Bulls thought they were finally getting their whole team back
together for the final stretch. Instead, Derrick Rose was out again. The Bulls
came out on top, anyway. Richard Hamilton scored 20 points, Luol Deng added 19
and Chicago beat the New York Knicks 98-86 Tuesday night even though they were
playing without their superstar point guard again. Hamilton had 18 points in the
third quarter to help Chicago stay ahead after building a 12-point halftime
lead. Kyle Korver added 14 points and three blocks, and the Bulls prevailed
despite Carmelo Anthonys 29 points for New York. "Thats what Ive been doing my
whole career," Hamilton said. "But on this team, Ive got to pick my moments.
There are so many guys on this team that can score." With their star sidelined
again, this was a good time for Hamilton to step up. Roses latest injury is a
sprained right ankle, which he suffered in Sundays overtime loss at New York. He
lobbied to play after warming up before Tuesdays game, but the Bulls improved to
16-7 without him. "I just think it was the smart thing to do in this situation,"
coach Tom Thibodeau said. "If were going to err, were going to err on the side
of caution. He wanted to play and we felt it was best that he didnt." The
leagues reigning MVP, Rose was injured in the first half Sunday after returning
from a 12-game absence because of a groin problem. Rose wound up scoring 29 in
that game, but shot only 8 of 26 and missed potential winning shots at the end
of regulation and OT, as well as two free throws with the Bulls up by three with
19 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Hes missed 23 games because of a variety
of ailments, including a turf toe injury and back spasms. Still, the Bulls
managed to get back to winning after dropping three of four, beating a team they
might meet in the first round of the playoffs. They also moved three games ahead

beat us on the boards. I got two rebounds. Ive got to do better than that." Then
again, as Tyson Chandler said, Anthony was the "one bright spot" for New York.
Chandler did have 15 rebounds, but otherwise, it was a mismatch on the glass.
"Thats kind of their game," he said. "They attack the basket. They get you out
of position and then the big guys come and crash the boards. We didnt do a good
job of boxing out." Deng had 10 rebounds and hit 3 of 6 3-pointers while trying
to contain Anthony. Korver was 3 of 5 from long range and had 11 points in the
fourth quarter. Hamilton played just 20 minutes because hes missed most of the
season because of injuries, but he was his usual active self, running off
screens and wearing out the opposition. He certainly made the most of his time,
particularly in the third. The Knicks got to 53-50 early in the quarter, but
Hamilton answered with a 20-footer and two free throws. Deng then made a 3 to
make it a 10-point game, and the Bulls stayed in control after that.
"(Hamiltons) putting a lot of work in," Thibodeau said. "Hes getting more
comfortable. You can see his rhythm coming around." NOTES: The Knicks sent C
Jerome Jordan to Erie of the NBA Development League to get more playing time. A
rookie, hes averaging 1.4 points and 1.2 rebounds in 19 appearances. ... The
Bulls took three of four from New York and won the season series for the fourth
time in five years.

BERLIN -- Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored twice as Schalke moved provisionally third
in the Bundesliga with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Augsburg on Friday.
Chris Chester Falcons Jersey . The home side
capitalized on a mistake from Schalkes Tim Hoogland to score in the fifth
minute. Tobias Werner ran onto his weak back header, took the ball on his chest
and dispatched it inside the far post with his next touch. Huntelaar equalized
on a rebound in the 33rd. Augsburg captain Daniel Baier lost the ball and Julian
Draxler back-heeled it to Kevin-Prince Boateng, who tried his luck from 22
metres (yards). Alexander Manninger saved but spilled the ball. "The Hunter was
there where he should be," Boateng said. Sead Kolasinac crossed for Huntelaars
second in the 49th. It was his fifth goal in two Bundesliga games, and a
league-leading seventh since the winter break. "It was a difficult game for us,"
the in-form Dutchman said. "We werent in it in the beginning. Too many
individual mistakes. We really had to fight to get into the game. Thankfully we
got the goals but we could have conceded at the end too." Augsburg finished the
game in the ascendancy but the visitors hung on to move within a point of bitter
rival Borussia Dortmund. Schalke moved three points clear of Bayer Leverkusen,
which visits runaway leader Bayern Munich on Saturday, while Augsburg stays
sixth for now. Schalke visits Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday,
faced with the seemingly impossible task of overturning the 6-1 defeat from the

. -- Dori Carter might have gotten a bit ahead of herself late in the second
round of the Kia Classic. She still left everyone else behind Friday. After
birdieing six of the first seven holes on the back nine, Carter bogeyed the
final two holes for an 8-under 64. The round was her lowest in competition and
broke the Aviara course record. Winless on the LPGA Tour, the former University
of Mississippi player had 11 birdies and three bogeys. At 10-under 134, she had
a two-stroke lead over Stacy Lewis and Cristie Kerr. "No matter what happens
this weekend, I cant believe Im here," Carter said. "This is my first time. I
mean, this is an experience for me. Its kind of like I cant lose. ... I have no
reason to be uptight or anything because this is my first time. Im OK with that.
Im OK with feeling like no matter what happens." She didnt fret about the
closing bogeys. "Im not even going to sweat that the rest of the day," Carter
said. "Im just so happy right now just to be here in this spot. ... My puttings
always been my issue. Today, obviously, putting was fine. So, thats a big
confidence boost for me." She tied for 68th in the season-opening event in the
Bahamas and tied for 28th in the Womens Australian Open, then played three
Symetra Tour events. Last week, she failed to Monday qualify for the Phoenix
event, flew to Florida for the Symetra Tour event, then made another
cross-country trip to California. "Thats my life," Carter said." From Valdosta,
Ga., Carter made a 35-foot putt on the par-3 third hole for her first birdie,
holed a couple of 20-footers, hit close on some holes and holed out from the
fringe on the par-4 15th. "Kind of a fluke," Carter said about her birdie on 15.
"The pin was sitting on this little knob on the front left of the green and I
hit it in the rough and I had to kind of roll it up to the front. I got my
putter, my caddie and I just said, Why dont you just putt it. I was probably
like 10 yards short of the green and rolled it all the way in. It bent in the
hole. ...

. That was like, I cant believe this." Lewis shot 66, and Kerr had a 68. The
third-ranked Lewis had seven birdies and a bogey. She tied for second last week
in Phoenix, her fifth runner-up finish since winning the Womens British Open
last year. "It was just a really solid day," Lewis said. "Again, hit the ball
really good like I did yesterday and, just the greens were so much better this
morning. I mean it was a couple of shots difference, I think, playing in the
morning versus the afternoon. Just played a little bit smarter, got on the right
side of holes and just hit a lot of good shots." She noticed Carters low round.
"I was surprised actually to see the number she shot," Lewis said. "Its very
impressive. You know, its a hard golf course. You can make a double pretty
quick." Kerr holed out for eagle on the par-4 first -- her 10th hole of the
round -- and had three birdies and a bogey. "Couldnt see it go in,
unfortunately, but it was a great 7-iron, perfect club," Kerr said. "I just
said, Get close, and it went in." She won the Kingsmill Championship last year
for her 16th LPGA Tour title. Former Southern California player Lizette Salas
was 7 under after a 68. "I have my fans out here this week," Salas said. "Ive
been just so blessed to have the support from my family and my community. Im
just out here having fun." Karrie Webb, coming off a victory Sunday in Phoenix
in the JTBC Founders Cup, rebounded from an opening 75 with a 68 to move into a
tie for 26th at 1 under. The 39-year-old Hall of Famer also won the Womens
Australian Open last month. Kia endorser Michelle Wie also was 1 under after a
71. DIVOTS: Beatriz Recari, a playoff winner last year, missed the cut by a
stroke with rounds of 71 and 76. ... Yani Tseng was tied for 22nd at 2 under

Cincinnati scratched pitcher Mat Latos from an injury rehabilitation start due

unique code of conduct by which the game is expected to be played. These rules
get passed down from generation to generation, but you cant actually find them
anywhere - until now. With a nod to my TSN colleagues and followers on Twitter,
here are the Unwritten Rules of Football. Rule #1 - Respect the rules. Rule #2 -
Play until you hear the whistle. Rule #3 - Football boots are black and white
and made from leather. *If you wear anything else, expect to be kicked by your
opponents and called a poseur by your teammates. Unless you are Cristiano
Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, in which case, carry on. Rule #4 - Socks are to be
pulled up to the knee and no further. *See rule #3. Rule #5 - The only player on
the field who should be wearing gloves - regardless of the weather conditions -
is the goalkeeper.*Again, see rule #3. Rule #6 - Magic spray is actually magic.
Rule #7 - If youre injured, get off the field. If youre hurt, suck it up. Rule
#8 - Unless you were on the terraces as a boy supporting the team you now play
for, do not kiss the badge. Ever. Rule #9 - Classy players never celebrate when
they score against their former teams. Rule #10 - If a player misses an easy
chance, he must immediately look at the ground and inspect it for any clumps of
turf. If he finds nothing amiss, he must then inspect his boots to determine the
exact cause of the miss. Rule #11 - When playing the offside trap, the chances
of getting the call are directly proportional to the ability of the back four to
each raise one arm and shout "OFFSIDE!" in unison. Rule #12 - If the offside
trap doesnt work, blame the fullback. Rule #13 - All corner kick takers must
raise one arm before taking the kick. This is the universal signal for "Im
taking the kick now!" Rule #14 - Players must always acknowledge their
supporters at the conclusion of a game by walking towards them and applauding.
Dont overdo it though, or you will be ridiculed by your teammates for being
"busy". Rule #15 - When losing a cup game, goalkeepers must always come up for
corner kicks in stoppage time, regardless of the fact that they have never won a
header in their lives. Rule #16 - Under no circumstances are defenders allowed
to wear anything but short sleeved shirts. *This rule was passed directly to me
by former England captain, Terry Butcher.
Maliek Collins Jersey. As such, it is written
in stone. Rule #17 - Goalkeepers are a strange breed. Accept it - they will
never change. Rule #18 - Nutmegs only count if you collect the ball on the other
side. Rule #19 - Cuts that require stitches do not also require an aesthetic to
"numb the pain". Stitch it up and get back in the game. Rule #20 - Any foul, no
matter how egregious, must always be protested by the offending player, usually
by exclaiming the following: "But I got the ball, ref!" Rule #21 - Goalkeepers
must always spit into the palms of their gloves at the beginning of each half,
must smack the bottom of their boots against each post, must have a water bottle
in their goal and must have a towel that they drape in the side netting of their
goal (regardless of the weather conditions). *See rule #17 Rule #22 - 20
consecutive passes in a rondo means that both defenders stay in twice. Being
nutmegged in a rondo means that the victim stays in twice. Rule #23 - When a
defender makes a spectacular block, he is not allowed to show any outward signs
of being in excruciating pain. He must immediately start organizing his
teammates by pointing to the opponents and yelling "Pick up!" Rule #24 - Any
manager that is given a "vote of confidence" from his chairman should
immediately update his resumé. Rule #25 - What is said in the dressing room,
stays in the dressing room. Rule #26 - After scoring a goal, never point to the
name on the back of your shirt - its the one on the front that matters. Rule #27
- If a player goes down with injury, kick the ball into touch. If the opponent
does this for your team, throw it back to them when play resumes. Rule #28 - If
an opponent commits a foul on your teammate, do not wave an imaginary card at
the referee. Rule #29 - Diving should be done into a swimming pool, river, lake
or ocean. Not on grass. Rule #30 - If a Canadian-born player switches their
international allegiance to another country to further their professional
career, fans are free to call them a traitor. Alternatively, fans can say that
the player has "pulled a Hargreaves" or "pulled a Leroux". If youd like to add
to "The Unwritten Rules of Football", leave your suggestions in the comments
section below. Only those deemed to be worthy will make the list.

his most productive series of the season so far with another clutch hit, and
made a key defensive play at the plate to help the Philadelphia Phillies win a
series from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ruiz stroked a tiebreaking two-run double
off Brian Wilson in the ninth inning, Marlon Byrd drove in four runs and the
Phillies won 7-3 on Thursday night to take three of four from the defending NL
West champions. Adrian Gonzalez -- whose fielding error in the fifth led to two
runs -- tied the game 3-all in the seventh with a first-pitch homer to centre
off Mike Adams, his former Padres teammate. But Philadelphia came back with four
in the ninth. "I was basically trying to throw a backdoor cutter and it kind of
ran back over the plate," Adams said. "Knowing Adrian from playing with him for
many years, I knew he was going to be aggressive with the first pitch. I just
missed my spot, and he did what he does." Ruiz regained the lead for the
Phillies when he lined a 3-2 delivery down the right field line with one out
after singles by Cody Asche and Ben Revere. Byrd greeted Jamey Wright with a
bases-loaded two-run single after Wilson (0-2) intentionally walked Chase Utley
and hit Ryan Howard with a pitch. Adams (1-0), making his third appearance after
undergoing shoulder surgery last July 31 and missing the first two weeks of the
season, pitched two innings for the victory despite allowing Gonzalezs homer.
"Its been a while since I went two innings," Adams said. "When I came in after
the seventh, they asked me if I could stretch it out and go back out for one
more. So I said: Lets give it a try and see how it goes." Both managers lost
replay challenges. The Dodgers were trailing 3-2 in the fifth when Asche, the
Phillies third baseman, fielded Yasiel Puigs grounder behind the bag and threw
home, where Ruiz tagged out Hanley Ramirez as he came in standing up without a
collision. "That was a big play," Ruiz said. "It was a good throw. I was lucky
because those plays happen so fast, you dont have time to think, but I got the
ball early. I was on the side of home plate a little bit and he had room to
slide, but he didnt and we got the out. I was stilll a little worried it would
get changed because now with the replay, you never know.
Alen Halilovic Barcelona Jersey. " Dodgers
manager Don Mattingly requested a review from umpire Mike DiMuro based on the
new rule pertaining to home plate collisions. It took several minutes but the
call was upheld. "Before the ball is thrown, you cant set up where the runner
doesnt have anywhere to slide, the way we understand it. Thats what we see on
video," Mattingly said. "We felt like it didnt have a place to slide." Ryne
Sandberg challenged a call by first base ump Hunter Wendelstedt in the Dodgers
sixth. Juan Uribe was initially ruled safe on a grounder to shortstop
Freddy Galvis. After a review of several minutes -- and a few choruses of "If It
Takes Forever" by stadium organist Nancy Bea Hefley -- the call stood.
Kyle Kendrick pitched 5 2-3 innings and allowed two runs and 10 hits, including
a two-run homer by Uribe. The right-hander remained 0-7 in his last 12 starts.
Dodgers right-hander Dan Haren was charged with three runs -- one earned -- and
seven hits in six innings while striking out seven. Kendrick, who gave up a
two-out single in each of the first three innings, yielded Uribes two-out homer
to left field after a leadoff double by Gonzalez. But the Phillies capitalized
on Gonzalezs second error of the season to grab a 3-2 lead. The three-time Gold
Glove winner botched a one-out grounder by Utley with runners at the corners, as
Revere scored the Phillies first run. Utley was credited with an RBI, and Byrd
drove in two more with a double just out of the reach of a diving Puig in
right-centre. Gonzalezs error was the Dodgers 23rd in 23 games. NOTES: The
Phillies entered Thursday with a bullpen ERA of 5.64, the worst in the majors.
... Ruiz was 7 for 14 in the four-game series with a home run, four walks and
his first six RBIs of the season. ... Byrd had two doubles in three at-bats
against Haren, and is 12 for 24 for his career against him. ... Dodgers pitchers
have given up 14 unearned runs. ... Jimmy Rollins, 5 for 21 against Haren, got
the night off and Galvis started at SS for the first time since Sept. 7 of last
season. ... Puig was 0 for 3 against Kendrick, after coming in 5 for 6 against
him with a double and a triple.
