(SportsNetwork.
Air Huarache Mens .com) - Tuukka Rask had a
first-hand look at how important Tim Thomas was to the Boston Bruins franchise.
Rask and the Bruins will face their former teammate on Thursday night, when
Thomas is expected to start for the Florida Panthers against visiting Boston.
Thomas, a former ninth-round pick by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1994 draft,
signed as a free agent with the Bruins in 2002 and made his NHL debut with the
club that season, appearing in four games. He eventually became the No. 1
goaltender with the Bruins and went 196-121-45 in 378 regular-season games with
the club. The 39-year-old also posted a postseason record of 29-21 in 50 games
with the Bruins, logging a 2.07 goals against average and .933 save percentage.
He won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2011 after helping lead Boston to its first
Stanley Cup title since 1972. Thomas, a two-time Vezina Trophy winner, played
one more season with the Bruins before sitting out the lockout-shortened
campaign. He became a free agent this past offseason and appeared in training
camp with the Panthers on a professional tryout before signing a one-year deal
just before the start of the season. Thomas has made three appearances with the
Panthers, allowing nine goals on 60 shots faced. However, he has not played
since exiting last Tuesdays game versus Philadelphia early with a groin injury.
He is expected to play tonight, per Floridas official twitter account. "All
those years shooting on him in practice and what not, I think itll be fun to
finally shoot on him in a game and Im sure hes looking forward to it as well,"
said Bostons Milan Lucic. "Im sure hes happy to be back in the NHL playing and
hes found a new home here in Florida." Thomas year off allowed Rask to grab hold
of Bostons starting goaltender job after he spent the majority of his career
backing up the former since being acquired from Toronto on June 24, 2006. Rask
went 19-10-5 with a 9.29 GAA in 36 games last season, helping the Bruins get to
the Stanley Cup Finals. "I never thought that we would play against each other.
But Im glad that he made his comeback and proved people wrong again, and I hope
he does well," said the 26-year-old Rask, who is 7-1-0 with a 0.86 GAA, .972
save percentage and three shutouts lifetime versus the Panthers. Boston will
play three straight on the road after opening the season with four of five at
home and lost for the second time in its past three games with Mondays 3-2
setback to Detroit. Loui Eriksson and Milan Lucic tallied for the Bruins, while
Rask made 24 saves. "Were really struggling with our finish right now. The
chances are there but goals are not coming easy," noted Bruins head coach Claude
Julien. The Panthers, meanwhile, begin a six-game homestand and have lost five
of seven to begin the season. They were last in action on Tuesday, a 4-3 setback
to Nashville. Jonathan Huberdeau, Marcel Goc and Matt Gilroy netted goals in the
loss, while Jacob Markstrom surrendered all four goals on 30 shots. "We did some
good things tonight with our forecheck and creating turnovers," said Huberdeau.
"We can look to build on that for our next game and get some of our mistakes
straightened out." The Bruins won all three of their meetings with the Panthers
a season ago, outscoring them 11-2. They have won nine of the last 11 encounters
overall and six of the past seven in Florida.

goals, including an insurance marker in the third period, to lead Tampa Bay to a
4-2 decision over Ottawa on Sunday. Victor Hedman contributed a goal and assist
with Steven Stamkos picking up the other score for the Lightning, who shook off
a loss in Pittsburgh on Friday and won for the fifth time in their last six. Ben
Bishop backed his offense with a 20-save effort. Kyle Turris and Mark Stone
supplied the scores for the Senators, who have lost four of six with their
modest two-game win streak ending. Robin Lehner stopped 26 pucks in defeat.
Johnson put the Bolts ahead by a 4-2 count seconds shy of eight minutes to go in
the third period. He was left alone in the left circle to take a Nikita Kucherov
slap pass and bury it. Lehner was not allowed to leave his net for an extra
attacker until the final seconds, and the hosts only tested Bishop with six
shots in the final 20 minutes. Turris lit the lamp just 32 seconds after tthe
opening puck drop, on a quick one-timer off a backhand feed by Clarke MacArthur.
Nike Roshe One Print Black. Hedman beat
Lehner high at 3:48 of the second to tie the game, but Stone put the Senators
back on top with 7 1/2 minutes gone and seconds after a power play expired.
Tampa flipped momentum once more with goals from Johnson and Stamkos 47 seconds
apart in the late stages of the frame to head to the second intermission up 3-2.
The former saw Johnson creep behind coverage on the left side to whip home a
Kucherov dish. On the latter, coming with 3:05 remaining in the period, Stamkos
circled the Ottawa net and beat several would-be Senators checkers before
sliding a backhander home from the right side. Game Notes Tampa improved to

Toronto Rock General Manager Terry Sanderson has announced a series of roster
moves including the signing of free agent forward Kevin Ross and free agent
defenceman Jimmy Purves to the active roster.
http://www.authenticredskinsfanatic.com/c-6-redskins-doug-williams-jersey.aspx
. A day after acquiring goaltender Brandon Miller from the Philadelphia Wings in
exchange for Kyle Belton and a pair of draft picks, Sanderson was at it again
shoring things up prior to Thursdays 12:00pm ET roster freeze. To make room for
the roster moves, defender Mike Lum-Walker and goaltender Steve Fryer were
released from the active roster and signed to the practice roster. Being
released from the practice roster were defender Dustin Dunn and transition
player AJ Masson. Purves became available after Rochester released him from
their practice roster on Tuesday. Ross was released from the active roster by
Philadelphia earlier on Wednesday. In his 7th NLL season, Ross has seen career
stops in Chicago, Minnesota and Philadelphia. He scored 6 goals and added 6
assists for 12 points in 6 games this season with the Wings. In 2012 with the
Swarm, the 28-year old put up career-high totals for goals 28 and points 59.
Last season in Minnesota, he tallied a career-high 33 assists en route to a
53-point campaign. Purves, 23 years old and in his 4th NLL season, had yet to
play a game in 2014. He won a championship with Rochester last season and
dressed for all three of the Knighthawks playoff games. He started his NLL
career in Buffalo in 2011 and moved on to Rochester during the 2013 season.

what Remi Dibo enjoyed more: being the centerpiece of West Virginias 3-point
show against No. 11 Iowa State, or clamping down on Big 12 scoring leader Melvin
Ejim. Dibo scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Mountaineers to a 102-77
victory Monday night, the Cyclones most lopsided loss of the season. Dibo went 6
of 8 from beyond the arc as West Virginia tied a season high with 13 3-pointers.
A native of France who finished his high school career in southern West Virginia
and played last season at Wyomings Casper College, the 6-foot-7 Dibo made his
fourth straight start and fifth overall. "I think my teammates did a great job
of finding me," Dibo said. "I think its been a while. Theyve been doing a good
job finding me and I was not responding. But I did today." Juwan Staten added 19
points and Eron Harris and Terry Henderson each had 16 points for the
Mountaineers (15-10, 7-5 Big 12). Iowa State (18-5, 6-5) had five players in
double figures, led by Georges Niangs 17 points. But Ejim, coming off a Big
12-record 48 points and a career-high 18 rebounds against TCU, was guarded by
Dibo and held to six points -- 12 below his average -- on 1-of-9 shooting. "We
just knew we couldnt let him score 40 points on us," Dibo said. "We had to make
an effort on him." The Cyclones fell behind by double digits midway through the
first half and trailed by as many as 32 points late in the game. It was the most
lopsided loss for Iowa State since a 23-point setback at Texas in January 2011.
"It was pretty much, start to finish, just a poor effort on our end," Iowa State
coach Fred Hoiberg said. West Virginia shot 54 per cent (35 of 65) from the
field, hit a season-high for points and improved to 2-1 amid a stretch of four
straight games against ranked opponents heading into a matchup Saturday at No.
19 Texas. Iowa States outside scoring was virtually nonexistent until it was too
late. The Cyclones were held to 37 per cent shooting (26 of 71) in losing their
fourth road conference game.
http://www.authenticredskinsfanatic.com/c-7-redskins-sean-taylor-jersey.aspx.
West Virginia coach Bob Huggins called it "by far the best" defensive effort
from his team this season. Dustin Hogue added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the
Cyclones while Deandre Kane had 14 points, Matt Thomas 13 and Monte Morris 10.
Kane, a Pittsburgh native, had more than 50 relatives and friends in attendance.
He went 1-2 against the Mountaineers while he played at instate rival Marshall
and was booed and taunted whenever he touched the ball. "Tonight we just didnt
have it," Hoiberg said. "I dont know what it was. This group has been very
focused and given everything all year." West Virginias lack of bench scoring had
stood out in a double-digit loss to No. 7 Kansas on Saturday. On Monday, the
Mountaineers reserves outscored Iowa States 27-15. "We had pretty much the same
shots against Kansas, but we didnt make them," Huggins said. "Today, we made
them." Trailing 52-33 at halftime, Iowa State put together its best stretch and
closed the gap to 58-44 5 minutes into the second half before West Virginia
again pulled away. The Cyclones went 4 minutes between field goals after that,
and West Virginia got a big boost from its bench to keep the pressure on.
Freshman Nathan Adrian made two baskets and two free throws, and Kevin Noreen
doubled his season scoring average with a layup and two free throws. Dibos
3-pointer with 6:53 left gave the Mountaineers their largest lead, 86-54. "We
just stuck to the game plan," Dibo said. "We couldnt let them make a run to come
back. We knew from the past every time we had a lead, we had let teams come
back, and we knew we couldnt let that happen." The only drama for West Virginia
came when Harris was ejected for a flagrant foul with 4:25 left. After the game,
West Virginias players went into the student section to celebrate.

. The retired seven-time NBA All-Star is aiming to become a baseball player, and
plans to try pitching for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic
League. Thats the same team that Roger Clemens pitched for a couple of years
ago. Jordan famously played in the Chicago White Sox organization in 1994 during
his first retirement from basketball, reaching the Double-A level. A statement
from the Skeeters says that it is a "lifelong dream" of McGradys to play
baseball. "McGrady has demonstrated skill, determination and diligence during
his training program," the statement said. "We look forward to monitoring his
progress." The 34-year-old McGrady played for several teams, including the
Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic. He last played in the NBA in the 2011-12
season. The Skeeters last made national headlines when Clemens pitched two games
for them in 2012 at age 50. McGrady made seven consecutive All-Star games from
2001-07. The 6-foot-8 McGrady, natural right-hander, was drafted out of high
school with the ninth overall pick in 1997 by the Toronto Raptors. He spent his
first three seasons with the Raptors before becoming a star with the Magic. He
spent four years with the Magic and led the NBA scoring in both the 2002-03 and
2003-04 seasons. He then joined the Rockets where he teamed with Yao Ming to
help Houston to three playoff appearances. McGrady played for the Knicks,
Detroit and Atlanta after a six-year stint with the Rockets. He retired with
more than 18,000 points and more than 5,000 rebounds in his career.

University of Dayton Arena, as No. 16 seeds the Albany Great Danes and the Mount
St. Marys Mountaineers face off in South Regions first round, with the winner
advancing to play No. 1 seed Florida on Thursday. In the Midwest Region of the
bracket, the ACCs NC State Wolfpack and Big Easts Xavier Musketeers will battle
it out for the vacant position at UD Arena in Dayton. The winner advances
through the first round and will clash with the fifth- seeded Saint Louis
Billikens. You can watch live streaming coverage of both games tonight beginning
at 6:40pm et/3:40pm pt, exclusively on TSN GO. Albany finished the regular
season in fourth place in the American East Conference, but it blazed through
the conference tournament with three straight wins, beating both top-seeded
Vermont (67-58 in the semifinals) and second-seeded Stony Brook (69-60 in the
championship) en route to the automatic bid. The Great Danes have played in the
NCAA Tournament three previous times (2006, 2007, 2013) but have yet to earn a
win. Mount Saint Marys also played the spoiler in its conference tournament.
After entering the Northeast Conference Tournament as the No. 4 seed at just
13-16 overall, it pieced together three straight wins over St. Francis-Brooklyn
(72-71), Wagner (77-72) and Robert Morris (88-71). The Mountaineers have also
qualified for the Big Dance on three other occasions, having previously defeated
Coppin State in the 2008 play-in game (69-60) before losing to top- seeded North
Carolina (113-74). This marks the first-ever meeting between Albany and Mount
St. Marys on the hardwood. The Great Danes lost control of a halftime lead in
the America East Tournament title game but finished the game on a 23-8 run over
the final 6:47 to punch their ticket. Sam Rowley led the way with 18 points on
9-of-11 shooting from the field. DJ Evans and Peter Hooley netted 16 and 15
points, respectively, while Gary Johnson tallied eight points and 10 rebounds.
Scoring points hasnt been Albanys speciality this season, as it scores a mere
66.0 ppg on less than 44 percent shooting from the field, but it has excelled on
the defensive end of the floor in yielding just 63.8 ppg on 41.9 percent
shooting. Hooley pours in a team-best 15.7 ppg on 69-of-172 shooting from beyond
the arc (.401). Rowley (11.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg) is a mainstay in the paint, while
Evans (11.2 ppg) and Johnson (10.9 ppg) have also been solid. The Mountaineers
made easy work of Robert Morris in the NEC championship bout, running out to a
commanding 16-point lead at intermission before cruising to the easy
double-digit victory. They shot a blistering 60.4 percent from the field in the
triumph and had five players register in double figures, paced by Rashad Whacks
20 points. Julian Norfleet had 17 points, Taylor Danaher and Sam Prescott netted
15 apiece and Will Miller scored 11 off the bench. Mount St. Marys plays an
opposite style of basketball as Albany, as it rarely has trouble filling up the
scoreboard (76.2 ppg) yet leaves itself vulnerable on the defensive end of the
court (78.0 ppg). The squad has a dynamic scoring duo in Whack (17.7 ppg) and
Norfleet (17.5 ppg), with Norfleet also finding time to dish out 5.4 apg.
Prescott rounds out the double-digit scorers by putting up 11.0 ppg. NC State
made some waves in the ACC Tournament ovver the weekend by defeating
Miami-Florida and then Syracuse to advance to the conferences semifinal round.

The Wolfpack were taken down by Duke, 75-67, and were considered one of the most
on-the-fence teams when it came to the tournaments selection. Xavier narrowly
edged out Marquette in the Big East Tournaments quarterfinal round, but lost to
Creighton, 86-78, in the semifinals. The Musketeers will need to prove their way
into the field of 64. This will be the first-ever meeting between NC State and
Xavier. Each team has a deep history in the NCAA Tournament, however. The
Wolfpack own a 34-21 all-time record in the tournament, and were present in last
seasons round of 64. Xavier comes in at 21-23 all-time, and made it to the Sweet
16 back in 2012. NC State and Duke had quite the battle going in Saturdays ACC
Tournament semifinal, as the Blue Devils had just a one-point lead over the
Wolfpack at the end of the first half. But Dukes defense stepped it up in the
second frame by holding the Wolfpack to 35.5 percent shooting from the floor as
the Blue Devils ended NC States quest for a conference title. T.J. Warren has
been spectacular this season, and is now the programs all-time leader in a
single season with 29 20-plus point contests. He had 21 with eight rebounds to
lead the Wolfpack against Duke (his 17th consecutive 20-point game), while
Lennard Freeman chipped in 13 points with nine boards and Anthony Barber scored
12 in the loss. N.C. State couldnt keep Duke from netting 57.1 percent of the
teams shot attempts in the game. Warrens beastly season has led to much acclaim
as he could very well enter the NBA after this season, earning ACC Player of the
Year. The athletic forward is averaging an astounding 24.8 ppg for the Wolfpack,
proving to be the go-to scorer when a basket is needed. He also leads the team
with a 7.2 rpg average, and adds 57 steals to his season resume. Ralston Turner
is the only other player on the Wolfpack roster to average a double-digit point
total, netting 10.2 ppg. Barber tops the squad with 124 assists, and BeeJay Anya
leads with 40 blocked shots. NC State averages 70.8 ppg through 33 games played,
and gives up 69.5 ppg to opponents. Things looked bad for Xavier early on
against Creighton in the Big East Tournament semifinals, as the Bluejays took a
45-33 lead into the intermission. But the Musketeers formed a comeback attempt
in the second period, and started to cut into the lead as time went on. However,
Creighton, behind the nations leading scorer Doug McDermott and his 32-point
effort, was able to fend off Xavier down the stretch. Forward Isaiah Philmore
scored a career-high 23 points for Xavier, while Semaj Christon chipped in 18
points with six assists in the loss. Justin Martin added 12 points before he
fouled out of the contest. Christon, who has had his name mentioned in NBA talks
as well, leads the Musketeers in scoring on the season with a 17.1 ppg average,
netting 47.7 percent of his shots from the floor. He adds 138 assists on the
year (second to Dee Daviss 147), and leads the team with 44 steals. Martin
contributes 11.8 ppg for the Musketeers, and center Matt Stainbrook, who missed
some time at the beginning of the conference tournament with a strained calf,
adds 10.4 ppg with a team-leading 7.3 rpg mark. Xavier averages 72.2 ppg and
allows 67.9 ppg to opponents

NEWARK, N.

.J. -- With the New Jersey Devils fighting for a playoff spot, Jon Merrill
picked the perfect time to score his first NHL goal. The rookie defenceman
connected 2:34 into overtime, and the Devils snapped a two-game skid with a 2-1
win over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night. "You always dream of this kind of
stuff when youre a little kid," the 22-year-old Merrill said. "After 20 games
went by and I hadnt scored, I think those dreams went away a little bit. I knew
it would come when it came. Tonight was a good opportunity." The goal came in
Merrills 31st NHL game and was set up by Adam Henrique winning a battle in the
corner and Michael Ryder getting the puck and finding Merrill all alone above
the left circle for an uncontested shot against Ilya Bryzgalov. "I saw that four
guys kind of collapsed on Ryds," Merrill said. "I was calling for it and he made
a great play. I was walking in all alone and fortunately it went in." The win
was the second in six games for New Jersey (2-2-2), and it ended a slide that
saw the Devils lose the last two games in overtime after giving up the lead late
in the third period. "It was awesome for him to get his first goal in overtime,"
said Henrique, who might have gotten away with a holding-the-stick penalty just
before the goal. "Its such an important win for the team. Thats one hes going to
remember for the rest of his career." Cory Schneider made 19 saves and
Andrei Loktionov scored in regulation for the Devils, who play Saturday night at
Washington in their final game before the Olympic break. Taylor Hall had the
goal for the Oilers, who lost for only the second time in seven games (5-1-1).
Ilya Bryzgalov made 22 saves for Edmonton, which wont play again until Feb. 27.
"We found different ways to get points in this stretch," defenceman
Justin Schultz said. "We got some solid goaltending. Weve improved our game
against these teams that are battling for playoff spots." The Devils hit three
posts in the game, with Ryder clanging a shot off the crossbar with 9:20 to
play. Both teams went for the win in the final minutes of regulation. Henrique
had two chances in close with just more than 4 minutes to go, and defenceman
Andrew Ference and Matt Hendricks had chances for Edmonton a minute later.
Schneider stopped a chance in close by Jordan Eberle early in overtime. With the
Devils struggling to score, coach Pete DeBoer shook up his lines for the game
and that led to the teams first goal. Loktionov, who was put at centre on
Jaromir Jagrs line, opened the scoring at 11:01 with his first goal since Dec.
4. Jagr and defenceman Bryce Salvador set up the goal. Jagr carried the puck
into the Oilers zone and found Salvador on the other side of the ice. He skated
toward Bryzgalov and sent a cross-ice pass to a wide-open Loktionov for a shot
into an open net. Jagrs assist was the 1,039th of his career, putting him one
behind Marcel Dionne for ninth in NHL history. The public address announcer had
not finished giving out the assists when Edmonton tied the game 29 seconds
later. Hall skated the puck into the Devils end and worked a perfect give-and-go
with Nail Yakupov for his 20th goal of the season. Schneider never had a chance
to stop the shot into an open net. New Jersey had plenty of opportunities to
take the lead in the second period. Devils defenceman Marek Zidlicky hit the
post on a power-play shot and Ryane Clowe hit a post on a breakaway after an
Oilers turnover. Mark Faynes shot from the point was past Bryzgalov and heading
into the net when Ference swept it away from the crease. NOTES: Schultz played

past nine. Marleau played in all 82 games averaging 20:31 minutes, racking up
just 18 penalty minutes. OReilly has never before been named a finalist for an
individual NHL award. The Avs forward notched a career-high 64 points, including
a team-high 28 goals. OReilly was called for just one minor penalty all season,
becoming just the second player in NHL history to receive two or fewer PIM over
80 or more games.

25 million pounds ($42 million), an increase of 10.8 per cent that will mostly
favour the early-round losers. The All England Club said Tuesday that the mens
and womens singles champions will each receive 1.76 million pounds ($2.9
million), a 10 per cent increase on last years top prize won by Andy Murray and
Marion Bartoli. By comparison, this years French Open champions will receive
1.65 million euros ($2.3 million) while Stanislas Wawrinka and Li Na earned
$2.65 million for their wins at the Australian Open in January. U.S. Open
organizers have yet to announce the prize money for this years tournament. The
main increases at Wimbledon are for the early losers, with players who fail to
get past the third round receiving prize money worth 12.5 per cent more than in
2013. "Weve placed emphasis on the large group of players who need our help the
most, those players who lose in qualifying and in the early rounds of the
championships," Wimbledon chairman Philip Brook said. "We also had an eye to
being competitive internationally, and we do keep our watch on what is going on
in other tennis events and in particular the other Grand Slams." The grass-court
Grand Slam will be played from June 23-July 6. In keeping with player demands
for a larger slice of Grand Slam revenues, all four majors have greatly
increased their prize money in the past two years, with Wimbledon offering the
biggest amount following a record 40 per cent increase last year. The French
Open now offers more than 25 million euros ($34.5 million) while the U.S. Open
increased its purse to $34.3 million and the Australian Open went up to AU$33
million ($31 million). The Wimbledon prize money for the majority of singles
players who lose in the first three rounds of the grass-court tournament has
been increased by more than 100 per cent over a three-year period. The main
increase this year is for first-round losers, with each receiving 27,000 pounds
($45,450), 14.9 per cent more than last year. "This year weve got a very
generous increase once again," Brook said. &quuot; We wanted to build on the
focus from 2012 and 2013.

." There will also be an increase of 8.7 per cent in prize money for doubles and
a 6.1 per cent increase for mixed doubles. In all, an extra 2.4 million pounds
($4 million) is up for grabs compared to last year. Brook said plans to build a
retractable roof on Court No. 1 are still on track pending planning approval,
with an application to be submitted later this year. The roof, similar to the
one on Centre Court, should be completed in 2019, and court capacity will be
increased by 900 seats to 12,400. Brook also confirmed the tournament will start
a week later in 2015 to create a three-week gap between the French Open and
Wimbledon, with the mens final on July 12. "Hopefully with the extra week more
players will be encouraged to compete on grass," Brook said. Seedings for this
years tournament will be announced on June 18. Brook said defending champion
Murray, who has slipped to eighth in the rankings, will stay among the top seeds
thanks to his strong record on grass over the past two years. Wimbledons seeding
order is determined using the ATP rankings and points are added for achievements
in grass-court tournaments in the past 12 months. "And we add to that 75 per
cent of the best-performing tournament in the previous year," Brook said. "For
Andy Murray, as the winner of Queens last year and the winner here last year,
and a finalist here in 2012, there will be a significant impact on him." Brooks
said the seedings will also have "significant impact" on seven-time champion
Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, Brook said. Brook did not comment on
speculation of a possible return to competition by Bartoli ahead of Wimbledon.
The 29-year-old Frenchwoman retired suddenly after a loss at Cincinnati last
August, explaining that her body could no longer take the strain after 14 years
as a pro. When asked if her entourage had been in touch recently and if Bartoli
would be granted a wild card if she asked for one, Brook said: "The rumours in
France have not reached London yet, so well wait and see."

Henrik Lundqvist had a positive return performance to help the New York Rangers
pull out a one-goal victory. Lundqvist made 37 saves in his first start in four
games, and Mats Zuccarello had a goal and two assists in the Rangers 4-3 victory
over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday night. "Sometimes its a good thing to get
a lot of work," Lundqvist said. "Theres been a lot of games where Ive been
waiting for shots, and then theres been some odd-man rushes or breakaways, and
its been hard to really get the game going. "A game like this definitely helps
you to work on your positioning and a lot of different things, so Im pleased
with the win and the way I played." Lundqvist watched from the bench as backup
Cam Talbot started the previous three games, winning two, after Lundqvist
struggled through a 1-4-2 stretch. "He played a real strong game, gave us a
chance to win, especially in the third when they had a real strong push and they
were tough to handle," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "He had some huge
saves to make, and he did." Rick Nash, Chris Kreider and Benoit Pouliot also
scored for the Rangers, who had three power-play goals. Ryan McDonagh and
Derick Brassard had two assists each. Tampa Bay got goals from Tyler Johnson,
Ondrej Palat and Valtteri Filppula. The Lightning were coming off a 2-1 shootout
loss Saturday night to Montreal. "They earned that victory," Lightning captain
Martin St. Louis said. "We got what we deserved." The Rangers went up 4-2 on
second-period, power-play goals by Kreider and Pouliot. Kreider beat
Anders Lindback with a backhander at 4:35, and Pouliot extended his point streak
to seven games with an in-close redirection 3:16 later. Tampa Bay pulled within
4-3 on Filppulas tip-in 8:14 into the third.

It was one of 16 shots the Lightning had on Lundqvist during the period. "Hank
was our best player," Zuccarello said. "He played really well for us. They had
numerous chances, and we were a little bit nervous there in the third period."
After Johnson tied it with a power-play goal at 10:41 of the first, Palat scored
a rebound goal from the left circle to make it 2-1 with 3:55 left in the period.
Nash snapped his seven-game goal drought to put the Rangers up 1-0 just 4:30
into the game. Derek Stepan set up the goal after stealing a pass by Lightning
defenceman Radko Gudas. Zuccarello got the Rangers even at 2 during a power play
when his pass into the low slot deflected off Gudas into the net at 18:25. The
centre assisted on goals by Kreider and Pouliot. "I dont think Ive seen us
mismanage the puck more," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. "That was painful to
watch, to be honest." NOTES: Lightning star Steven Stamkos, out since breaking

CLEVELAND -- Finally, at long last, the Browns have a date to name their
quarterback.
James McCann Jersey . Decision day is Tuesday
for Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel. Thats when Browns coach Mike Pettine aims to
announce his starter for Clevelands Sept. 7 opener at Pittsburgh. His choice
could be influenced by how the quarterbacks play in Monday nights nationally
televised exhibition at Washington. "Something unforeseen could come up, but
were hopeful because I do want to see if I can cut the quarterback questions
down by about 90 per cent after next week," said Pettine, a first-year coach who
for months has faced questions about his quarterbacks. "The chemistry, the
continuity, its important to establish that." On Thursday, Pettine said Hoyer
will start against the Redskins on Monday night, with Manziel getting snaps with
the first-team offence. Pettine isnt sure how hell divide their time and will
see how the game unfolds before determining when each is on the field. His focus
is making sure the "reps are close to equal." Pettine also made it clear no
decision has been made. "All of our options are still on the table," he said.
Does that mean Manziel, the popular rookie who helped the Browns draw record
crowds to training camp, can still win the job? "Sure he can," Pettine said.
"All of our options are still on the table. He just needs to go out and play,
thats the bottom line. They both do. Ive met with both of them and discussed the
situation and theyre both comfortable with it and they both know its going to be
up to them, when theyre out there, to go out and do their job." As he has stated
for months, Pettine will choose the quarterback he feels gives the Browns their
best chance to beat their bitter rivals. "Youre looking for the total package --
the quarterback who is best suited to take the field and lead us to a win
against the Steelers," Pettine said. "Thats the bottom line decision we have to
make. There will be a lot of things going into it." Pettine said he will consult
with offensive co-ordinator Kyle Shanahan, quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains
and maybe "another guy or two in there." General manager Ray Farmer will be
there "to listen and observe." Hoyer started Clevelands preseason opener at
Detroit, with Manziel playing exclusively with the backups. Pettine isnt
disappointed with the way the quarterbacks have played or that one hasnt taken
off and separated from the other to make the decision easier. "They both started
camp at a certain point and theyve both made improvement," he said. "I think
theyve both made big strides. When you look at it, I feel like were in a good
position, we have two quarterbacks that we feel have NFL starter ability, which
is why its a difficult decision." Whatever decision is made, Pettine knows its
far from permanent. "So much can change over the course of an NFL season, the
circumstances," he said. "Thats one position where you probably have to have a
little more patience that others whether a guy is not performing at a level you
think he can. I dont want whoever the starter is to feel like If I make one
mistake, Im out. I dont want them to feel like, Hey, Ive achieved something and
this is my team for the year." Pettine would not confirm or deny a report
Manziel was late to a team meeting this week. "Thats internal business," he
said. "Im not going to discuss stuff that happens. We like to keep stuff in the
family." NOTES: After being "tagged" by the Ravens and Jets, Pettine and several
players took the ALS "ice bucket challenge" following practice. Manziel had two
buckets dumped on him. ... Pettine also had a comment for New York coach Rex
Ryan, saying, "Rex, I know you want to punch me in the face. Anytime you want to
go toe to toe, you know where to find me." ... CB Buster Skrine injured a thumb
during practice. Pettine had not yet met with the training staff to know the
seriousness. .... Pettine said DL Desmond Bryant (wrist) is waiting for a second
medical opinion. ... WR Josh Gordon, awaiting word on his appeal with the NFL,
has "a chance" to play against the Redskins. ... WR Nate Burleson will likely
sit out Monday night. ... TE Jordan Cameron has been cleared to play.

MIAMI -- Zack Wheeler and the New York Mets got the best of Andrew Heaney during
the Marlins prospects major league debut.
http://www.dolphinsteamauthenticshop.com/c-24-dolphins-matt-darr-jersey.aspx
. Wheeler tossed his first shutout and made David Wrights first-inning home run
hold up in the Mets 1-0 victory over Miami on Thursday night. "He showed you
exactly what weve been talking about all along -- plus stuff. Tremendous, great
effort," Mets manager Terry Collins said of Wheeler. "He went after them. It was
his night." Wheeler (3-7) outdueled Heaney in the longest outing of the Mets
starters career. "It feels great, I know I can do it every time out," Wheeler
said. "I know I have the stuff. It finally feels good to go out there and do it
and be efficient with my pitches and get ahead of guys." New York, which won at
St. Louis on Wednesday, has consecutive victories for the first time since a
three-game streak from May 31-June 2. The Mets had dropped eight straight on the
road before Wednesday. Wheeler, the No. 6 pick in the 2009 draft, struck out
eight. He allowed three hits and one walk, and 70 of his 111 pitches were
strikes. He pitched to only one batter over the minimum and was helped by three
double plays. "Anytime somebody gets on, whether it be a walk or hit, you just
try to make a pitch and get a double play. I was able to do that," Wheeler said.
The 24-year old right-hander lowered his ERA to 0.96 in four starts against the
Marlins. "He didnt miss over the plate much," Marlins catcher
Jarrod Saltalamacchia said. "He was really good with locating his pitches off
the plate. He threw a lot of fastballs, like we expected, but he didnt leave
anything over the plate. "Youve got to tip your cap to a guy who pitched a great
game." Heaney (0-1) gave up four hits in six innings, allowing only Wrights home
run. The 23-year old lefty, the ninth pick in the 2012 draft, struck out three
and walked one. "He did a nice job, gave us a chance and kept us in the game,"
Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "He gave up one pitch to a really good hitter
for a home run and that was it. He executed his pitches, got his pitch count up
high early, but then settled in. "All in all it was a good start for him." It
was a battle between two young starters that could see a lot of each other in
coming years in the NL East. "Thats what the game is coming to," Collins said.
"The game is changing where those big power arms are coming up in every
organization, and theyre all young." Heaney allowed an infield hit to
Eric Young, Jr. to begin the game, but got Daniel Murphy to bounce into a double
play. Wright then hit his sixth homer of the season off the sculpture in deep
left-centre field. No one else got into scoring position against Heaney. "I had
no expectations, to be honest," Heaney said. "I just wanted to pitch well. I
felt early on I didnt know how it was going to go. It was kind of on the edge
with every guy. From that fourth inning on I got into a rhythm." Bryan Morris
relieved Heaney in the seventh and faced a bases loaded situation, but he got
Wheeler to ground out and end the threat. Wheeler, who made his much-anticipated
debut a year and a day before Heaney, complimented his mound opponent. "I sat on
the bench in between innings and just watched him, knowing that I was there not
too long ago and knowing how he felt," Wheeler said. "He has a good arm, and I
think hes going to do well." Kevin Gregg pitched the ninth in his season debut
with Miami. He earned 61 saves for the Marlins in 2007-08. Reed Johnson singled
in the ninth off Wheeler with two outs, but Rafael Furcal lined out to centre to
end the game. Wheeler threw a 95 mph fastball on his final pitch. "I still had
plenty," Wheeler said. NOTES: Mets OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis was recalled from

. The team was in last place in the English Premier League, its roster filled
with bloated contracts and egos.TORONTO – Third in league scoring, John Tavares
entered the evening with at least a point in all but three of the Islanders 21
games this season. "Four now," Carl Gunnarsson told the Leaf Report proudly
following a 5-2 victory over New York on Tuesday night, the clubs fifth straight
at home. Gunnarsson was among the stable that kept Tavares, who has 25 points
this season, off the scoresheet entirely. The Islanders captain finished with
just two shots and was rarely a threat, bottled up by the top pair of Gunnarsson
and Dion Phaneuf and a recently assembled shutdown line of Jay McClement,
Mason Raymond and Nik Kulemin. Tavares entered the night with eight goals and 16
points in 15 career games against the Leafs and had been responsible for 43 per
cent of his teams offence this season. But he was held pointless for just the
fourth time all season. "We played tight on him, we played hard and we didnt
give him much time in our own end," Gunnarsson said of Tavares, who played
alongside fellow top scorer Kyle Okposo and rookie Brock Nelson. "We couldve
done some stuff better too, but when that line doesnt score we give ourselves a
pretty good chance to win the game." Randy Carlyle has yet to employ a shutdown
line consistently against opposing top lines so far this season – often using
his top unit when healthy – but he did against the Islanders. As McClement
explained it, the assignment isnt known to players until game-time and often
beyond that. Unlike Andy Murray, his longtime coach in St. Louis, who would
present line matchups to the group on a whiteboard in the morning, Carlyle
prefers to keep his close to the vest. "He wont let you know too often,"
McClement said of Carlyle, leading Leaf forwards with over 20 minutes on
Tuesday. "You dont really know until you start the game. And even the first
shift we didnt start against them and then we played every other shift against
them. You never know. Maybe its a good thing. Youre not thinking about it, youre
just ready to play." What the McClement unit did effectively most of the night
against Tavares, who had points in five straight, was keep him on the defensive.
With consistent pressure and a simple chip-and-chase game, the line spent a good
chunk of their shifts against him deep in the offensive zone. They would be
rewarded when Raymond scored the eventual game-winner early in the third, the
27-year-old capping a McClement drive to the crease of Islanders goaltender
Kevin Poulin. "We got to pucks on the forecheck and ended up having a lot of
shifts in their end," McClement said, also beating Tavares on 10 of 19 draws.
"Thats the easiest way to play defence is play offence." Five Points 1. Home ice
dominance While theyve yet to establish a consistent brand of hockey (see below)
the Leafs have nonetheless strung together a strong record through the
quarter-mark of the season (13-7-1). Part of that success emanates from their
effective showing on home ice. The Leafs have now won five straight at home and
seven of their past eight, and are now 8-2-0 on the year at the ACC. Theyve
outscored opponents 35-23 in that span, more effective offensively (3.5 goals
per game) and defensively (2.3 goals against per game) than on the road. "That
was one of the goals we wanted to create is when teams come into this building
theres no more of this two points, kiss your relatives and go home," said
Carlyle. "Its enough of that." With another power-play marker – this one from
Phil Kessel – the Leafs also continued a trend of home dominance on the
power-play; they rank first with a 32.4 per cent success rate. 2. Clarkson
breaks the goose egg Without a goal in the first 10 games of his late-starting
season, David Clarkson finally broke through with his first as a Leaf against
the Islanders. The 29-year-old rifled a shot beyond the glove of Poulin midway
through the final period, benefiting from the effective work of Joffrey Lupul
and Trevor Smith down low in the offensive zone. "The better feeling is coming
in here after a win and turning on that music," said Clarkson, who played nearly
19 minutes, adding five hits. "Thats the best feeling to me ever." 3. Gardiner
on the left When Mark Fraser returned from a left knee injury last week – hes
since re-injured a different part of the knee – Carlyle juggled his defence
pairings, opting to move Jake Gardiner back to his natural left side position
alongside Cody Franson. Gardiner had never played the right before and often
appeared uncertain and inconsistent there alongside Paul Ranger. "I think Ive
felt a lot more comfortable offensively," Gardiner told the Leaf Report prior to
Tuesdays game. "I still have to fine-tune some things, but I feel like I see the
ice a lot better from the left side." The 23-year-old is also pleased to be
reunited with Franson, with whom hes played alongside for a good chunk of his
NHL career. "We even talked about it – we know where each other are on the ice,"
said Gardiner of Franson. "Theres some plays that we do a lot of that seem to
work and we know exactly when theyre going to be there, wwhether its in the
offensive zone, neutral zone or defensive zone.
http://www.dolphinsteamauthenticshop.com/c-49-dolphins-isa-abdul-quddus-jersey.aspx.
Hes a vocal guy too. Its really easy to play with him. Hopefully he feels the
same way." Gardiner led the Leafs with over 22 minutes against the Islanders,
including 19:42 at even-strength. 4. Kessel durability Phil Kessel played his
first game as a Leaf on Nov. 3, 2009; he sat out the first 12 games recovering
from offseason shoulder surgery. The 26-year-old has not missed a game since.
Kessel extended his iron-man streak to 303 consecutive games, breaking a recent
dry spell with a pair of goals against the Islanders. A bout with the flu a day
earlier put his games played streak in jeopardy, but the teams leading scorer
remained in the lineup, paired with James van Riemsdyk and Peter Holland for the
second straight game. Kessel is a ways off the active leaders in consecutive
games played. Jay Bouwmeester is the current iron man with 654 straight games
played, according to TSN Research, trailed closely by Henrik Sedin at 651. Only
three players remain from the Toronto lineup that dressed on the night of
Kessels highly anticipated debut:

with the team 5. Standing at the quarter pole Joffrey Lupul offered the
following assessment of the Leafs performance one quarter of the way into the
season. "Weve battled through a lot of injuries and were still up near the top
of the conference. Thats a positive," said Lupul. "Is there things we can do
better? For sure there is. But Im sure every team in the league with the
exception of maybe St. Louis or San Jose or one of these teams is saying the
same thing. Everyone wants to do some things better. But its early in the season
and youre just finding that identity as a team and you want to eventually be a
team that plays the same way every night and a team that improves throughout the
year. Were not there yet, but were still high in the standings so theres
positives and negatives you could say." Added Randy Carlyle, "Weve tried to
create a template that were more conservative from an offensive standpoint. Were
not making the Hail Mary plays. Were not trying to just be a rush team. Were
trying to do a lot of different things as far as getting away from just one and
out. We want more puck possession time. Theres been a lot said in our statistics
proving out that were having success when we shouldnt be. We look at it as weve
been forced to do some things differently with personnel, suspensions and
injuries. We are just trying to find a way to manufacture points. This isnt a
development league were in, its about winning. The points that we can put up on
the board, doesnt matter who we have in the lineup, it just bodes well for us in
the future." Bonus Point – Extending an opportunity Trevor Smith played his
first NHL game with the Islanders back on Dec. 31, 2008. On Tuesday against the
same New York squad, the 28-year-old had a career-high three points. Playing
alongside Lupul and Clarkson, Smith scored the games opening goal 22 seconds
into the first frame, adding a pair of assists in the third. Plugging a hole at
centre with Tyler Bozak and Dave Bolland both injured, Smith has compiled at
least a point in three games since being recalled from the Marlies last Friday,
totaling three goals and five points in that span. "The guys are making it
really easy for me to come in and play and be confident to make plays with
them," Smith said. "I was fighting the puck a little bit in the first, but they
calmed me down and just told me to relax and do what I do and we went from
there." Nazem Kadri is due to return from a three-game suspension on Thursday,
but it would appear that Smith has earned, at the very least, an extended
opportunity. How long that opportunity lasts is unclear with Bozak likely to
return Saturday following a lengthy stint on injured reserve. Stat-Pack 1 – Goal

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. http://www.shopdolphinsauthentic.com/Youth-Jonas-Gray-Elite-Jersey/ . -- Nothing seems to bother Florida State. Distractions off the field, deficits on the field, nothing has derailed the Seminoles for 26 games and counting. And after yet another comeback, the defending national champions are squarely in the mix for another title. Dalvin Cook ran for two scores, including the go-ahead touchdown with 3:05 remaining and the second-ranked Seminoles (10-0, 7-0 Atlantic Coast Conference, No. 3 CFP) rallied from 16 points down to beat Miami 30-26 on Saturday night, their fifth straight win over their archrival and the fifth straight times theyve won on Hurricane turf. Just the way we do things at Florida State, Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher said. Amid another batch of twists and turns -- uncertainty over Cooks status early in the week because of a sore hip, then a Friday report in The New York Times about how starting cornerback P.J. Williams was ticketed but not charged after briefly leaving the scene of a car accident last month -- Florida State remained unscathed. Jameis Winston completed 25 of 42 passes for 304 yards for the Seminoles, who clinched the ACCs Atlantic Division title earlier in the day when Clemson lost. They were down 16-0 and 23-7 before outscoring the Hurricanes 23-3 in the final 2 1/2 quarters. We just kept our poise and kept playing, Fisher said. Brad Kaaya threw for 316 yards and two touchdowns for Miami, which got to the Florida State 43 on their final drive but fell short when Jalen Ramsey intercepted a fourth-down pass with 39 seconds left. Duke Johnson rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown for the Hurricanes (6-4, 3-3), who were eliminated from the ACCs Coastal race. Phillip Dorsett and Clive Walford caught scoring passes for Miami. With that, the cardiac Noles saw their chances of a second straight unbeaten run to a national title live on. They love each other and it gets down to that, Fisher said. They play for each other. They dont panic. This is a heck of a Miami football team. Give them credit ... but our kids just execute when they have to. The stadium was packed -- a rarity for Miami -- and filled with star power. Former Miami coach Howard Schnellenberger was on the sideline pregame, as was Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton. They all got what they came to see: another Miami-FSU classic. Down 13 at the half, Florida State got a huge break to get the comeback rolling. Facing a third down at the Miami 11, Winston dropped back and had his throw deflected by the Hurricanes Tyriq McCord, whose hand sent the ball flying high into the night. Karlos Williams caught the carom in stride, waltzed into the end zone and just like that it was a one-possession game, Miamis lead down to 23-17. The Hurricanes rolled up 320 yards in the first half, then got just about nothing going after halftime, with two punts and a fumble on their first three possessions after returning from the locker room. Meanwhile, Florida State chipped away. Aguyao connected from 37 to get the Seminoles within three, and after Michael Badgley tacked a field goal on for Miami, Aguayo answered again with a 53-yarder. Cooks go-ahead run came with 3:05 left, the first and only time FSU would lead all night. Trouble signs were there early for Florida State, which punted twice in the games first three minutes. Then again, early issues are commonplace for the Seminoles, who have faced second-quarter deficits in seven of their last eight games. By now, thats no big deal for Florida State. Kaaya found Dorsett with a perfect 27-yard strike that opened the scoring, Johnson got in from a yard out late in the first and Badgleys field goal on the next Hurricane possession pushed the lead to 16-0. It was Miamis biggest lead over Florida State since 2003. It was 23-7 after Kaaya and Walford connected on a 61-yard catch-and-run with 11:37 left in the second, and Miami was rolling. The Hurricanes roll stopped there. The rest of the night was all Florida State. http://www.shopdolphinsauthentic.com/Youth-Lamar-Miller-Elite-Jersey/ . Kazmir was tagged for three homers and allowed a season-high seven runs in the As 10-1 loss to the New York Mets and Bartolo Colon on Tuesday night. http://www.shopdolphinsauthentic.com/Youth-Jamar-Taylor-Elite-Jersey/ . A steal of two in the ninth sealed the win over Swedish skip Margaretha Sigfridsson, who throws lead stones but calls the shots as skip. Jones has now added Olympic gold to the world championship she won in 2008 as well as four Canadian crowns.Toronto FCs 2014 season ended Saturday night. You may not have noticed as, for many, the season ended weeks ago. Negative headlines took the place of meaningful football as Toronto FCs playoff hopes slipped away. It was almost better the 1-0 loss to New England was overlooked. A game played on a turf field with football lines hardly does justice to the product. Nor does another dubious refereeing decision (or indecision, rather) leading to the game winner. Multiple controversial refereeing mistakes are an underrated, lesser-told storyline leading to an eighth consecutive season without playoff football for the TFC. Dubious red cards and disallowed goals should have been the extent of controversy in Toronto FCs season. Instead, more self-inflicted wounds due to poor communication, half-truths and speculation continue to hurt the image of Toronto FC. From Doneil Henrys transfer status, to mud-slinging at Jermain Defoe via high-placed club sources, it has not read well. On top of that, Michael Bradley is now having foot surgery in New York after Head Coach Greg Vanney claimed the player was fine after the loss to the New York Red Bulls two weeks ago. Mixed messages never end well. Weve experienced eight years of it and it hasnt helped. Its discouraging the lesson has not been learned from the mistakes of previous regimes: club leaks, he-said, he-said confrontations, and failure to simply tell it like it is continues to create an environment of mistrust and external perception of incompetence. This is the perception, it may not be reality. Things are not that bad at the club, but the manner by which they continue to conduct business opens the door for further criticism. The daggers are out. Calm and stability are needed. Good will is not something readily available based upon track record. Again, self-inflicted wounds are to blame. Its entirely frustrating to watch. Instead of piling on as many others continue to do, Id rather give advice; the club must keep quiet - just stop talking, or at the very least, think before they act. And if theyre going to speak, please make it the truth. Transparency is the ultimate olive branch to a skeptical fanbase. Its especially recommended if there isnt anything to hide. The depth of the negative narrative is surprising considering what the spin on the subpar season can be. The new Toronto FC administration should simply stick to the story that they began a complete rebuild of the squad less than a year ago, with the cupboards shockingly bare. They should stress the restructure will take time, something not simply remedied by a couple big money signings. Focus on the fact the team still set franchise records for wins and points through the growing pains and reshaping of the roster. Hit home that ownership is completely invested, showing for the first time in its history a willingness to spend with the power clubs in MLS. Bang home the message that the future is bright with a massive stadium renovation taking place and the continued investment in the Kia Training Ground. Off-field growth and stability has been achieved like never before. Its now about getting the right players to Toronto. Michael Bradley is the foundation, but its up to management to surround him with complimentary players, helping establish a team identity. 2014 was merely a start, 2015 the job continues. Simply admit the club over-sold expectations and came up short and that the blame is shared by all. There. Done. How difficult was that? All points made are true and paint a much better picture, the kind of explanation presented is completely reasonable. Not all will buy it - and thats fine - but thats the narrative to build off. Instead, a path has been chosen to discredit a star player (who is not without blame), while other items continue to confusse and lack clarity. http://www.shopdolphinsauthentic.com/Youth-Dallas-Thomas-Elite-Jersey/. Other than a small, short-term PR win, its hard to believe portraying the most talented player the club has ever had as a mammas boy does anything for Toronto FC in the big picture. It paints more of the same. Whoever leaked the story must have his reasons. It can be argued it was the last thing the team needed. An amicable split between Toronto FC and Defoe would do much more for future recruitment and league-wide goodwill. The focus has to be in the best interests of the team, emphasis on team. It especially holds true when the club defended Defoe to the hills around a tumultuous and speculative period around the closing of the transfer window. As an astute Toronto FC observer over the last eight years, I truly dont believe this team is that far off the mark. Things have been far, far worse. I have seen few better performances than an opening day win over Seattle and a massive away victory at Columbus a few weeks later. The wheels fell off as injuries mounted and adversity was faced. Personality conflicts emerged and the head coach was let go. Theres no way of telling if it was the right decision to dismiss Ryan Nelsen but the front office and coaching staff need be on the same page - thats a must. But the coaching change created instability. Its the type of instability that has reared its ugly head all-too often. Its unintentionally divisive and signals volatility. The team went back to old ways; nine head coaches in eight years. If Toronto FC could do it all over again, they would have most likely made the coaching change when the new front office took over, yet going down that road is nothing but living in the past. The present issues stem from the fact losing breeds drama at Toronto FC. And the clubs response to hardship leaves much to be desired. DC United went worst in 2013 to first in 2014, from 16 points to 59. Dramatic turnarounds can happen in MLS. A stable, consistent environment is essential for this to happen, though. No more pointing fingers, just proper communication. The establishment of positive conditions needed to succeed and continued commitment to superior player recruitment. This is what will lead to success. This leads us to this week: the year-end media interviews, an annual tradition. Toronto FC PR does a fantastic job making the players, coaches and management available for a year-end retrospect and should be applauded for doing so. The lack of team success and controversial storylines/unanswered questions makes for an awkward exercise. Many of the media use the day to fill-in the blanks, probe and pry for talking point of contention. Nuggets of discontent, bad-mouthing, and tone are dissected. The last thing Toronto FC needs is more off-field squabbling and/or controversy giving further fodder for the detractors to feast on. Basically, nothing good can come from the availability. Somber reflection makes for a depressing day, but its showing commitment to the future build is all thats needed. At this point, silence is golden. Enough talk. No more apologies, no more blame. There is nothing more to say. Everyone just needs to keep quiet. Before you speak, just stop. Enough is enough. Instead, just build a winner. Scout. Recruit. Network. Strategize. Find consistency, build an identity and culture of inclusion - and of success - and provide conditions to succeed. Until that time, all the positives of being a part of Toronto FC remain ignored, and thats not fair. The franchise can be something special. There are many who have worked so hard to make Toronto FC what it is, and there is much good to speak of. Its just overshadowed by losing and controversy, and understandably so. It all needs to be better. It starts with communication. It leads to cohesion and it ends with wins, we hope.
