PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil -- Karim Benzema scored twice and created a third that was confirmed by goal-line technology as France beat Honduras 3-0 Sunday in its first World Cup match. Claudio Bravo Jersey . The dominant win was a relief for France, whose team of highly paid players failed to win in South Africa and was sent home in a disgrace after going on a training strike. "Winning 3-0 at a World Cup isnt easy," France coach Didier Deschamps said. "(The players should) savour the moment, theres nothing more wonderful." France dominated the match from the opening whistle, despite a series of scrappy tackles by the Honduran team seeking its first World Cup win. Benzemas first goal came from the penalty spot just before halftime after Wilson Palacios was sent off with his second yellow card for charging into the back of Paul Pogba. The Real Madrid striker calmly slotted the ball to the left of Noel Valladares to give Les Bleus a deserved lead going into the break. With Honduras down to 10 men, France continued to dominate and Benzema created the second goal in the 48th minute -- the first to be confirmed by goal-line technology at the World Cup. Benzema latched onto a long ball by Yohan Cabaye and his shot hit the post and came back across goal before Valladares fumbled it over his own line. With the new technology system confirming the ball crossed the line, referee Sandro Ricci gave the own goal despite Honduran protests. Benzema scored his second in the 72nd, firing in powerfully from inside the area after a long range shot by right back Mathieu Debuchy was blocked. "Its my first World Cup and I think were all satisfied with the result," Benzema said. "It was important to win this match." French keeper Hugo Lloris didnt have to touch the ball until the 31 minute and didnt have to make a save all night. France looked dangerous from the start, with Blaise Matuidi and Antoine Griezmann both hitting the crossbar before the half-hour mark. The only downside for the French fans was that the teams national anthems werent played before the game because of an apparent malfunction -- meaning they didnt get a chance to sing "La Marseillaise." FIFA did not immediately give an explanation to why the anthems werent played. Cristopher Toselli Jersey . A night earlier, he was hit by a ball off the bat of Kansas Citys Salvador Perez. Chapman will begin cardio and throwing off flat ground in eight to 10 days. Chivas put up a fight in the first half as the visitors held a 2-1 lead through 18 minutes. However, the Sounders scored three unanswered goals to close the match and clinch a fifth win in seven games to remain on top of the Supporters Shield table. The loss eliminates Chivas from postseason contention, and is the clubs seventh straight setback. Felix Borja helped set up the opening goal for Chivas after 12 minutes when he got into the penalty area and forced Stefan Frei to make a save, leaving Erick Torres to collect the rebound and roll the ball home. Martins replied for Seattle within two minutess as he picked up the ball 35 yards from goal, danced past a defender and lashed a left-footed rocket inside the right post from 30 yards. http://www.aufreeflyknit.com/carbon-black-royal-blue-nike-free-3-0-v4-men-s-shoes.html. Jalil Anibaba gave the goal back to Chivas in the 18th minute with an own goal, but the home side was back on level terms in the 37th when Lamar Neagle collected a deflected pass and dashed in on goal before slotting his shot past goalkeeper Dan Kennedy. Clint Dempsey then put the Sounders in front just before the break when some good ball movement in the build up allowed Martins to get into a good position and slide a pass to Dempsey for a simple tap in. The lead was stretched to 4-2 by Seattle in the 52nd when a deflected chip from Martins found its way past Kennedy, while Seattle nearly added another goal on the hour mark with Dempsey sending a long-range effort off the crossbar. SOCHI, Russia -- The Detroit Red Wings dont expect Henrik Zetterberg to play again during the regular season. Nike Air Max 2015 Suomi . Zetterberg had back surgery Friday in New York to remove a fragmented disk. "I dont anticipate hell be ready to play in any games of the regular season," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told The Associated Press on Saturday. "Im hopeful that we can play our way into the playoffs and that hell be back, but thats down the road." The Red Wings and Swedish Olympic hockey team captain played once at the Sochi Games before pulling out because of the injury. Holland is hopeful Zetterbergs back injury does not prematurely end his career. "Im told it has nothing to do with his career," Holland said. "But the surgery is something that needed to be done and hell be as good as new." Detroit, which is aiming to earn a spot in a 23rd consecutive NHL post-season, is competing for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. The team announced Friday that Zetterbergs status would be evaluated again in eight weeks, a timetable that likely ruled him out for a return before the regular season ends on April 13. The playoffs begin April 16. "Were using the eight-week period, but it could be six or seven or it could be longer," Holland said. "In December, when Z was having some issues and we shut him down, we were aware there was a fragment in there. We were hopeful he could get through the season. "Unfortunately, the fragment lodged itself in a nerve." Zetterberg is expected to stay in New York until he is cleared to return to Detroit in perhaps a few days. "Hes up and about, hes walking," Holland said. "He just has to take it easy for a while." With 24 games left, it will be hard for Red Wings to compete for a spot in the playoffs without Zetterberg. He has 16 goals and 32 assists -- both team highs -- in 45 games this season. He missed most of December because of his back injury. "Its going to be a tight race just like last year to end and we need all the bodies we can get," said Red Wings and Sweden defenceman Jonathan Ericsson, who will face Canada in the Olympic gold-medal game on Sunday in Russia. GENEVA -- Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic warmed up for their World Cup playoffs meeting with high-scoring displays for Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday. http://www.nflbroncosteamprostore.com/Youth-DeMarcus-Ware-Elite-Jersey/ . Ronaldos two goals lifted Madrid to a 2-1 home victory over Juventus in the marquee matchup of the day, although the Portugal star was topped by Swedens talismanic forward. Ibrahimovic struck four goals -- including an unstoppable long-range strike -- as PSG outclassed Anderlecht 5-0 in Brussels. "Score a goal like this, it is good for the memory," Ibrahimovic said of his third goal, which was applauded by the 25,000 Anderlecht fans. He returned the applause to each corner in turn. "It was a big honour for me." Defending champion Bayern Munich routed Viktoria Plzen 5-0, with Franck Ribery scoring twice, and Bayer Leverkusen won 4-0 against Shakhtar Donetsk. Madrid, PSG and Bayern all lead their groups with three straight wins, and Manchester United heads Leverkusen by a point after edging Real Sociedad 1-0. Manchester City also won, 2-1 at CSKA Moscow, though the main talking point was racist abuse targeted by Russian fans at Citys black players and reported by Citys Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure. The incident happened during a week-long UEFA campaign to highlight its fight against racism and CSKA faces a partial stadium closure for a future home match. Galatasaray beat Copenhagen 3-1, with Wesley Sneijder and Dider Drogba adding to Wednesdays star-studded list of scorers, while Benfica levelled late in a 1-1 draw with Olympiakos. Three weeks ahead of their scheduled first-leg clash in the Portugal vs. Sweden playoff, Ronaldo now leads Ibrahimovic 7-6 atop the Champions League scoring table after just three matches. Ronaldo took only four minutes to strike against Juventus, rounding goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to score from a tight angle after taking a clever reverse pass from Angel Di Maria. Juventus was level in the 22nd when Spanish forward Fernando Llorente pounced on a loose ball after Iker Casillas dived low to push out Paul Pogbas far-post header. Ronaldo got the winning goal in the 29th from the penalty spot after Giorgio Chiellini wrestled Sergi Ramos to the ground as a free-kick cross came in. Chiellini was red-carded in the 48th when he raced alongside Ronaldo and caught the Madrid forwards face with a raised arm. Ibrahimovic fell one goal short of Lionel Messis Champions League record of five in a match, yet was no less memorable. A 17th minute tap-in was followed by a nonchalant back-heel in the 22nd, a long-range screamer in the 36th and a dipping volley in the 62nd. The French champions fourth was scored by Uruguay star Edinson Cavani who, not for the first time this season, was somewhat left in the shadows. Bayern outgunned Plzen, as expected, with 35 efforts on goal to none by the Czech champion. "We played well but Plzen didnt make it hard," Bayern winger Arjen Robben said. Ribery opening the scoring from the penalty spot. David Alaba made it 2-0 at the break, and a second-half stroll was completed by Ribery, Bastian Schweinsteiger and substitute Mario Goetze. Man City was frustrated soon after arriving in Moscow by the poor condition of the green-painted pitch, and left angered by home fans treatment of its black players. "For me as an African player it is always sad to hear something like that and we need to do something about it," said Toure, who said he informed referee Ovidiu Hategan of the abuse during the match. Sergio Aguero eased the visitors mood with two goals in the first half, carrying City clear of CSKA into second place behind Bayern. Manchester United took just 69 seconds to score against Sociedad, when Inigo Martinez clumsily booted the ball into his own net after a shot by Wayne Rooney came back off the post United created ample chances to extend their lead, though the Spanish visitors struck the frame of David De Geas goal in both halves. Stefan Kiessling scored two valid goals for Leverkusen in his first game since being credited with an infamous ghost goal through the side netting in a Bundesliga match. Simon Rolfes, with a penalty early in the second half, and Sidney Sam also scored. After Olympiakos led Benfica in the 29th from Alejandro Dominguezs goal, a heavy rainstorm made the pitch almost unplayable in the Stadium of Light in Lisbon which hosts the final next May. The future hall of famers stole the show at the Bell Centre on Tuesday night, with Jagr moving into seventh place in all-time goal scoring and Brodeur stopping 29 shots as the Devils downed the Montreal Canadiens 4-1. BASEL, Switzerland -- Glenn Howard couldnt hide his frustration after making a pair of early errors in Canadas round-robin opener at the world mens curling championship. With lips pursed, the normally happy-go-lucky skip popped his broom handle on the floor, shook his head and tugged at his shirt collar. France took advantage of Howards missed takeout attempt in the third end but the Canadian skip refocused and eventually guided his rink to a 7-5 victory. "I was a little disappointed in myself," Howard said. "I missed a couple shots I dont normally miss early and got us down." It was an uncharacteristic start for the three-time world champion, who settled for a single point in the second end when he threw his final stone through the house. "I missed a free draw for two -- I just had to hit the rings," Howard said. "That was a brain cramp more or less. I disappointed myself, I dont do that very often. What do you do? Every once in a while it happens. I just tried to concentrate on the ice, make sure I didnt overthrow it and make sure I got it to the right spot. "I think personally I got it going a little bit after that, which is what you have to do and my guys hung in there." French skip Thomas Dufour was steady but his rink faltered late in the game. Howard and teammates Wayne Middaugh, second Brent Laing and lead Craig Savill took full advantage. When Tony Angiboust -- who throws fourth stones for France -- missed a double takeout attempt with his last throw of the seventh end, Howard came through with a draw to the button to score three. "We didnt panic, we just did what we had to do," Howard said. "I thought we outplayed France in the last half of the game and that basically was the difference." There was a tepid atmosphere in the 9,000-seat venue as only a few hundred fans took in the opening draw on a sunny Saturday in this picturesque Swiss city. Middaugh said he battled some jitters at the start. "Its the world championship and youve got the Maple Leaf on your back," he said. "We were a little bit nervous but we steadied our way through. "Thats the whole goal for the week, just get better as the week goes on." France made it a one-point game heading into the 10th end but Howard hit a double-raise takeout with his penultimate throw. He then cleared out a French stone to score one for the victory. "It was a good start for us to play against a team that was playing well and was ready for us," Middaugh said. http://www.nflbroncosteamprostore.com/Youth-Michael-Schofield-Elite-Jersey/. "You know what, we were ready for them. Luckily we had the one big end there and that was the difference." Canada will play Germany and the United States on Sunday. Top skips like Norways Thomas Ulsrud, Scotlands Tom Brewster and Swedens Niklas Edin are on tap next week. "Theres no free space on the bingo card here as far as Im concerned," Howard said. "Every team is going to be good and we expect them to play that way. Hopefully we just play that one shot better." In other early games, Norway needed an extra end to defeat Denmark 6-3, Germany outscored the Americans 8-6 and Scotland topped New Zealand 5-3. Scotland moved to 2-0 later Saturday with a 11-6 win over Norway while Sweden doubled hosts Switzerland 8-4. China downed the Czech Republic 9-5 and Denmark eased by winless New Zealand 11-4. The Canadian players looked slick with their black and red shirts, white belts and black pants. The Norwegians, playing on the next sheet over, retained their usual fashion edge on the competition with their colourful flag-inspired trousers. There were pockets of fans from each country in the arena. A few Canadian flags and banners were spotted and some vocal French supporters were on hand as well. Round-robin play continues through Thursday. If necessary, tiebreaker games will be played Friday. The Page playoff system will be used at this event. Playoff games begin Saturday and the medal games are on tap April 8. Teams also have an opportunity to earn Olympic qualifying points for their countries at the competition. Howards previous world titles came in 1987, 1993 and 2007. He teamed with Laing, Savill and Richard Hart to win his last world championship. SANTA CLARA, Calif. http://www.leafshockeyfanstore.com/Tie-Domi-Jersey/ . -- San Francisco tight end Delanie Walker has returned to practice for the first time since breaking his left jaw in two places late in the regular season and hopes to be healthy enough to play in the NFC championship game. Walker had the wires removed on Monday and took part in practice on a limited basis with no contact on Wednesday. He was out there again during the open media portion on Thursday. "I didnt do too much, so I wont say I was rusty," Walker said before Thursdays practice. "I feel like I was good. Everybody said I looked faster and that I looked like I was over-hyper. Because you get back on the field, you try to do everything full speed." Coach Jim Harbaugh said Thursday that Walkers status is up to team doctors and Walker said he will push to get on the field on Sunday against the New York Giants. "If they leave it up to me, of course Im going to play," Walker said. "I want to help my team out, and this is a big game, and I feel like if Im out there maybe I can help out with the offence." Walker broke his jaw in two places when he took a knee to the face from Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill in the first quarter Dec. 24. Walker is a key part of San Franciscos offence as the 49ers used at least two tight ends on the field more than any other team in the regular season. The 49ers ran 43 per cent of their plays this season with two or more tight ends, compared to a league average of 26 per cent, according to STATS LLC. Walker was tied for fourth on the team in the regular season with 19 catches for 198 yards and three touchdowns. Justin Peelle, the third string tight end, had just one catch in the regular season. "Delanie is a very key cog in what we do," offensive co-ordinator Greg Roman said. "Hes talented physically. Hes talented with what he can handle in terms of game planning. The load we put on him is very unique to what most players get in the NFL, or anywhere for that matter. He brings speed, play-making ability, the ability to block in a variety of ways -- in space, in the box. Hes just a dynamic tight end." Walker had his most productive game of the season against the Giants in November, when he caught six passes for 69 yards in a 27-20 victory. Roman said he is putting together separate game plans for if Walker is ready to play or if he has to sit out. With Walker sidelined last week, Vernon Davis set an NFL post-season record for tight ends with 180 yards receiving in a 36-32 win over the New Orleans Saints. He caught seven passes and scored two touchdowns, including the game-winner with 9 seconds remaining. Walker is testing out a new helmet this week with a bigger facemask and wider area around the jaw to see if he can play with that on Sunday. Walker said doctors told him that left jaw is now as strong as the right side and there is little chance of re-breaking it in the same places. "But its possible it can happen," he said. "This is football, and they warned me of that. But I feel confident in myself in my doctors feel confident in me to let me go out there with a helmet and do a little bit, so Im confident that I can do whatever I can to be out there." http://www.leafshockeyfanstore.com/Mitchell-Marner-Jersey/ . The UFC announced Tuesday that light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado will move up a weight class to replace the injured dos Santos to take on Stipe Miocic on May 31 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. http://www.leafshockeyfanstore.com/Peter-Holland-Jersey/ . The Rockets were even more surprised that he achieved the feat coming off the bench. Lin tallied 15 points, a career-high 11 rebounds and 10 assists and James Harden returned from injury to score 28 points to help the Rockets to their third straight victory, 106-92. PHILADELPHIA -- Claude Giroux is excited about the way the Philadelphia Flyers are playing. Wayne Simmonds had two goals and an assist to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Monday night, extending their home win streak to nine games. "We got the four lines rolling. Everybodys playing great," Giroux said. "I think when you have a team effort like tonight, its a really good feeling. We can take it in for a couple days for Christmas here, and be ready to go on the road." The Flyers brought their record back above .500 (17-16-4). Luke Schenn scored first for the Flyers, on the teams first shot of the night, giving them a lead they never lost. Scott Hartnells assist on that goal was the veteran Flyers 500th career point. "It was a big win, more importantly," Hartnell said. "Its kind of cool to hit a century mark, but we wanted to end into this Christmas break with a big win. Everybodys got a lot of smiles on our faces. That was an amazing effort and a big win. Its huge." Giroux had a goal and an assist, extending his scoring streak to eight games, a new high for the Flyers captain. While the Flyers will be using their three-day break to celebrate, the Wild will have plenty of time to consider whats gone wrong for them in recent days. Mondays loss was their third in a row, a stretch of games during which theyve scored only four goals and sank to fourth place in the Central Division. "Its a good time for the break," Kyle Brodziak said. "We need a few days to really find what we need to do, and what every guy in the room really needs to do, however we need to do it, to break out of whatever funk we are in right now." With the loss, the Wild are 1-7-1 in their last nine games on the road. They fell to 2-7-0 lifetime at the Wells Fargo Center. Theyve lost six of their last 10 games. Mikael Grandlund scored the Wilds lone marker in the first period, a power-play goal duriing a 1:40 two-man advantage that cut the Flyers lead to 2-1. http://www.leafshockeyfanstore.com/Travis-Dermott-Jersey/. But after that goal, scored late in the first period, the Wilds offence all but disappeared. The Wild travelled to Philadelphia after falling to the New York Rangers 4-1 Sunday. Back-to-back games can be difficult, and goaltender Niklas Backstrom started both. He, along with many teammates, seemed tired. Wild head coach Mike Yeo wasnt about to use fatigue as an excuse. "Im not going to paint a rosy picture and Im not going to make any excuses," Yeo said. "Flat out, we need to be better. Its every one of us. It starts with me. We have to be better. What I mean is, this is not us. Plain and simple, this is not us." Across the ice, however, the Flyers felt as if Mondays effort was perfectly representative of their team identity. They scored on the power play (Simmonds first-period goal), they kept their defence tight and they played hard right up until the final horn sounded. They feel theyve managed to turn around a dire start to their season. "No one wants to let anyone down in here -- turning the puck over, making soft plays," Hartnell said. "When youre accountable to your teammates, the guy next to you in the dressing room, you play hard, you play smarter. Weve got to eliminate some simple penalties that weve been taking lately, but its been a lot of fun here at home. Weve got to take this show on the road here." Both teams will return from the days off with games in Canada -- the Wild in Winnipeg, the Flyers in Edmonton. But only the Flyers will be riding the momentum of a complete-game victory. "We definitely needed that," Simmonds said. "You guys asked if we were worried, I said no. We know what were capable of." NOTES: Zach Parise missed the game with a lower-body injury. . A proposal approved by the committee says coaches would be allowed to challenge both called and potential defensive pass interference fouls under certain conditions.PITTSBURGH -- Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said he sat awake in his hotel bed Saturday night, thinking about his bullpens recent problems. He even addressed his group of relievers Sunday morning. Dustin McGowan made those worries a nonfactor, at least for a day. McGowan pitched three-hit ball for seven innings, Colby Rasmus hit a grand slam and Melky Cabrera added a two-run homer as the Blue Jays beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-2. "We had to have that one," Gibbons said. McGowan (2-1) allowed one run, striking out five and throwing 101 pitches. It was the second consecutive quality start for McGowan, a diabetic who started wearing an insulin pump on the mound in his last start. "My blood sugar still gets erratic sometimes," he said. "But thats part of the game for me. With the adrenaline going and everything, it does what it wants to do. I cant control it sometimes." McGowan eclipsed the 100-pitch mark for the first time since June 27, 2008. "Thats two outings wearing that pump," Gibbons said. "Maybe theres something to that." It was just the fourth win in 13 games for Toronto, which prevented the Pirates from completing their first series sweep of the season. Pirates manager Clint Hurdle and first base coach Rick Sofield were ejected by plate umpire Greg Gibson at the end of the fourth inning for arguing a called third strike on Jordy Mercer. The strikeout stranded two runners and ended the inning. "I think it was pretty apparent that the low strike wasnt going to come into play," Hurdle said. "But the fact of the matter was it got to a point where I felt a pitch that hadnt been called a strike all day got called a strike in, for me, a very pivotal at-bat for us." Rasmus connected in the second inning for his fourth career slam. He also doubled and singled. The Blue Jays held on to this early lead. Toronto wasted a 5-3, ninth-inning edge in the series opener and a 5-0, fourth-inning advantage on Saturday night. Josh Harrison hit two triples for the Pirates. Edinson&nnbsp;Volquez (1-3) gave up six runs and seven hits in five innings. http://www.jetsfootballofficial.com/authentic-jeremy-kerley-jets-jersey/. . He also allowed six earned runs in his last outing April 21 against St. Louis. Volquez pitched himself into a jam in the second inning before Rasmus stepped to the plate, issuing walks to Edwin Encarnacion and Juan Francisco to start the inning. Brett Lawrie reached on an infield single to load the bases with no outs. Rasmus hit a full-count curveball about 10 rows deep in the right-field seats for his seventh home run of the season, giving the Blue Jays a 4-1 lead. Rasmus said he was not necessarily looking for an offspeed pitch in that situation. "I was just trying to be out over the plate and throw my hands at anything because hes got a good changeup, good curveball and a good two-seamer, and he already tried to thumb me a couple in," he said. "I was just trying to be ready to put something in play." The slam negated an early lead the Pirates built on Neil Walkers groundout, scoring Harrison after his triple. Harrison also tripled in the eighth and scored on Andrew McCutchens sacrifice fly. Torontos Jose Bautista walked in the fifth to reach base in his 31st consecutive game, the longest active streak in the majors. But he went hitless, snapping a career-best 13-game hitting streak. Cabrera had three hits, and extended Torontos lead to 6-1 with a two-run homer off Volquez in the fifth. Rasmus scored another run in the eighth on an RBI single by pinch-hitter Dioner Navarro. ST. Daryl Johnston Jersey . LOUIS -- Home opener hoopla was no distraction at all for Michael Wacha. Neither was the 49-degree chill for the first pitch. The 22-year-old rookie was definitely excited about the occasion and the opportunity. Just like last fall when he was the breakout pitching star of the post-season, he fed off the atmosphere. "Huge crowd out there, a lot of energy," Wacha said after the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 on Monday. "Its a lot of fun pitching in front of your home crowd, 40,000-plus fans. "I dont know who wouldnt thrive off those kind of situations." Wacha outdid Tony Cingrani in a rematch of young power arms, and the Cardinals got a three-run double from Yadier Molina in the first inning. "I didnt have my fastball, so what are you going to do? I just tried to battle," Cingrani said. "One bad pitch and it cleared the bases." A standing-room crowd of 47,492, the largest at 9-year-old Busch Stadium, braved daylong rain to greet the National League champions and take a look at the new Ballpark Village. Hundreds milled about the attached complex, which features five sports bars and rooftop seating. The Cardinals bunched three hits and a walk over the first five hitters to take the early lead against Cingrani (0-1), who allowed two hits in seven scoreless innings against the Cardinals six days earlier in Cincinnati. The Cards went 1 for 18 before adding RBIs from Matt Holliday and Allen Craig off Trevor Bell in a two-run seventh. St. Louis ended a three-game losing streak on opening day, including a blowout loss to the Reds last year. Wacha (1-0) hadnt allowed a run in 21 career innings against the Reds before back-to-back doubles by Brayan Pena and pinch-hitter Roger Bernadina in the fifth cut the Cardinals lead to 3-1. The NL championship series MVP benefited from two double-play balls in six stingy innings and has permitted one run in 13 2-3 innings his first two starts. Wacha threw 82 pitches before getting lifted for a pinch hitter with the Cardinals up by two runs and two on in the sixth. St. Louis manager Mike Matheny wanted to take a shot at putting the Reds away, but thought the right-hander had plenty left. "That was more of a situation of whats best for the day, whats best for that particular game," Matheny said. Cingrani needed 31 pitches to get through the first and lasted four innings, striking out five but walking four. Matheny said before the game that his hitters had been a "click off" with timing against the 24-year-old lefty last week and should benefit from another chance so soon. Pena said he wasnt trying to make excuses but thought Cingrani was bothered by the elements. "The baseball was slippery. He couldnt grab his breaking ball the way he wanted," Pena said. Peter Bourjos moved up to second in the order and got his first two hits of the season after an 0-for-13 start. Craig got his third hit and third RBI of the season after entering 2 for 22. Seeing Wacha once again didnt do the Reds any good. Theyve totalled 18 runs in seven games. "Right now, almost collectively, weve struggled to do anything with guys in scoring position," Cincinnati manager Bryan Price said. "But thatll change. Its tough to sit through it." The start of the game was delayed 12 minutes after the inclement weather combined with pregame ceremonies that featured the traditional grand entrance with players, coaches and Hall of Famers touring Busch Stadium on the back of convertibles and trucks. A team of Clydesdales was kept in the stable due to concerns the field might be damaged. Billy Hamilton doubled to start the game and the Reds put the leadoff man on base in the first four innings but were undone by two double plays. Zack Cozart broke an 0-for-22 slump to start the season with a bloop RBI single, and pinch-hitter Neftali Soto had a sacrifice fly for his first career RBI in the ninth against St. Louis closer Trevor Rosenthal, who gave up his first runs at home since Aug. 15 against Pittsburgh. The Cardinals opened the first with singles by Matt Carpenter and Bourjos, and Holliday walked to load the bases with none out. Craig struck out before Molina cleared the bases with a drive to left-centre on a 1-2 pitch. NOTES: Lance Lynn (1-0, 5.40 ERA) opposes Homer Bailey (0-1, 8.31) in the second game of the series, another rematch from the season-opening series in Cincinnati. Lynn allowed three runs in five innings and Bailey gave up four runs in 4 1-3 innings in St. Louis 7-6 win. ... Besides repairing the fractured fifth metatarsal, surgeons also repositioned another bone. "With this procedure, we both fixed the broken bone in Brooks right foot and repositioned another bone, so that his sole of his foot will bear weight more evenly than before," Dr. Riley Williams III, the Nets medical director, said in a statement. "The repositioniing portion of the surgery lessens the stress on the fractured bone, and decreases the likelihood of re-injury in the future. Darren McFadden Jersey. TORONTO - No team in the NHL relies more on a core group to produce offence than do the Toronto Maple Leafs. Cheap Jerseys Wholesale NFL . Seven players have combined for 84 per cent of the teams 74 goals this season, the highest such percentage for any teams top seven scorers in the league. Alarmingly among that group in Toronto are two centres, Dave Bolland and Tyler Bozak, who have each missed a months worth of games due to injury already this season and yet remain amongst the teams scoring leaders. The Leafs have dropped a season-high five consecutive games, also losing six of the past seven while skidding through an unhappy November that saw them win just twice in regulation. Prominent in their struggles was a failure to produce offence at even-strength; theyve scored just 18 such goals in the past 14 games, delivering two goals or fewer overall in 11 of those games. Depth or a lack thereof has been the issue, both from the defence and depth forwards. The Toronto blue-line has barely made a blip in the cause offensively, totaling a scant three goals all season, two from Dion Phaneuf and one into an empty-net. By comparison, the San Jose Sharks, who beat the Leafs at the ACC on Tuesday, have 16 goals from their defenders this season. Four Sharks alone have more goals individually than do the Leaf defence as a unit.  "When you describe our hockey club its always the back-end," said Randy Carlyle following practice on Wednesday morning. "Does the back-end need to provide more offence? For sure it does. We need more from our back-end." Unlike last season, the team has also gotten little in the way of contributions from its depth forwards. David Clarkson and Nik Kulemin have a mere two goals apiece while Jay McClement, averaging nearly 17 minutes, has yet to score and has just two assists. A fourth line with plenty of punch has been predictably punch-less offensively, the likes of Colton Orr, Frazer McLaren, Troy Bodie, Carter Ashton, and the since waived Jerred Smithson, all with zero goals this season. Phil Kessel (15 goals), James van Riemsdyk (12), and Mason Raymond (10), a late free agent add who sits third on the team in scoring, have been responsible for the bulk of offence, helped by Nazem Kadri (7) Joffrey Lupul (8), and the aforementioned Bolland (6) and Bozak (4). Injuries and suspensions to core players, such as Clarkson, Bolland, Bozak and Lupul, certainly havent helped with their replacements unable to fill the void. One rare exception is Trevor Smith, who since being recalled to line up in an offensive role, has produced six points in eight games. "We need more from secondary scoring," Carlyle said. "Secondary scoring comes from your second, third and fourth line. Weve noted that. Weve asked that." Among the desired changes to the offence would be more shots to the net and more efficient movement of the puck up the ice, thus instigating whats been an inconsistent forecheck. Spending vast amounts of time defending, while struggling to break out of their own end, the Leafs have been unable to establish that forecheck, the lifeblood in some ways of the teams attack.  "The one thing weve got to do is weve got to get stronger on our forecheck," said Carlyle, pointing to brief periods of such success against the Sharks, notably during an energetic start to the season period. Generating much of their offence from a potent power-play this season, if not the flash and dash of their skill players on the rush, the Leafs have yet to produce much off their forecheck, thereby unable to sustain time in the offensive zone in the manner Carlyle would like. "We have to start being more fluent as a group of five," said Cody Franson, who leads the defence with 13 points, but has yet to score this season. "Theres a couple things that were doing systematically that are inhibiting our chances to one, generate things off cycles, and two, generate shots from the point. Just a couple small, little technicalities that are hurting us rather than helping us. Once we can get fluent with correcting those I think thatll help out a lot." LOUIS -- The indoor football stadium that the St. Louis Rams call home is running out of money as the NFLs team long-term future in the city remains murky. The publicly-funded Edward Jones Dome anticipates needing an extra $40 million to cover maintenance over the next 15 years, the St. Louis Post -Dispatch (bit.ly/1pGZkMd) reported Wednesday. The St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority, which owns the downtown dome, expects to exhaust its $16 million in savings in six years. The dome receives a total of $24 million annually from the city of St. Louis, St. Louis County and the state of Missouri for maintenance and to pay off construction debt , but those payments are scheduled to cease over the next decade. And the stadiums future remains in limbo as lease negotiations between St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke and the stadium authority drag on. The Rams can break their 30-year lease after the upcoming season, which would be a decade early. Brian McMurtry, the authoritys executive director, is asking the three governments to not only continue providing at least $4 million for annual upkeep payments but to also consider sending the dome an additional $40 million in cash, or selling $40 million in new bonds. Hes also suggested putting several stadium-related items on the citys bond issue list for a public vote as early as this November. "Im going to tell you, they dont know how theyre going to do it," he said. "But they want to know what its going to take." Dome maintenance is almost entirely dependent on public dollars -- unlike Busch Stadium, a private ballpark funded largely by the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Scottrade Center, which is maintained by the ownners of the St. Wholesale China Jerseys. Louis Blues and was built with $135 million from local companies. To help entice the Rams to stay, the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission, which manages the dome, in 2012 offered a $124 million improvement plan that included a bigger scoreboard and better club seating, with the Rams paying slightly more half those costs. The team countered with a far more ambitious proposal that called for a new roof with a sliding panel and a bevy of improvements that would keep the city convention centre in the dome closed for three years. The team didnt put a price tag on its request, but city officials estimated the upgrades would cost $700 million. "We cant come up with a long-term solution until we know what the relationship is going to be with the Rams," said Jim Shrewsbury, chairman of the stadium authoritys board. The stadium authority sold bonds in 1991 to build the $300 million dome, which opened in 1995. The sponsors agreed to a 30-year payment plan. The state would send the stadium authority $10 million a year toward debt repayment, plus $2 million for upkeep. The city and county each would pay half of that. University of Chicago economist Allen Sanderson said the conundrum facing St. Louis civic leaders is not uncommon when it comes to paying for aging public sports arenas. "Estimates of revenues tend to be overstated and costs played down, or at least pushed off to the future," he said. "Youve got this combination, on the city side, of public officials worried about the near future, not the long term, and these sports franchises that have an enormous amount of market power. And thats a bad combination for taxpayers." Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
DUNEDIN, Fla. Nike Roshe Run Sneaker Boot Waterproof . -- Jose Bautista kept up his torrid start to the spring, hitting two doubles and driving in two runs Thursday that sent the Toronto Blue Jays over the Philadelphia Phillies 7-5. A day after hitting a long home run against the Phillies in his first at-bat of exhibition play, Bautista had an RBI double in the first inning off Philadelphia ace Cliff Lee. Bautista finished 2 for 2 with a walk. The former two-time major league homer champion missed the final six weeks last year because of a hip injury. Jose Reyes, Brett Lawrie and Melky Cabrera also drove in runs for Toronto. "I thought we swung the bats pretty good," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. Gibbons liked how many of Torontos hits were up the middle or to the opposite field. "Against a lot of lefties and things like that, you have to be able to do that and I think it was progress for us," he said. Lee allowed two hits and a run in two innings. He struck out three and walked none. "Obviously Im trying to throw strikes," Lee said. "I made a couple mistakes. The first double was, for sure, a mistake. I tried to throw a backdoor cutter and it ended up right down the middle." "And then Bautista, I just missed on the pitch before and tried to throw the same pitch. It wasnt a bad one, its just you get into a 2-2 count with him in that situation is not where you want to be. He put a good swing on it." Philadelphias offence was powered by a pair of home runs from bench hopefuls: Darin Ruf hit a two-run shot in the third and John Mayberry Jr. had a solo drive in the sixth. Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey allowed one unearned run in two innings. He gave up two hits, two walks and struck out two. STARTING TIME Phillies: Lee gave up doubles to two of the first three batters he faced, then stopped the Blue Jays. He is the odds-on favourite to start on opening day March 31 at Texas. Blue Jays: Dickey got through an uneasy first inning to feel good about his spring debut. The knuckleballer walked back-to-back batters with one out in his opening inning. "Im feeling a lot better than I was at this point last year, so Im hoping that will carry out through the rest of spring and opening day," Dickey said. RUF RIDER Ruf hit a long home run off Esmil Rogers with one on and no one out in the third inning. The shot was the first for any Phillies player this spring. Ruf finished 1 for 3 with a walk. KNUCKLED Dickey worked with new battery partner Erik Kratz for the first time this spring. Kratz, a catcher acquired from the Phillies in a trade this winter, wore a first basemans glove in an attempt to have a better chance at catching Dickeys arsenal of knuckleballs. Kratz allowed one passed ball in the games first inning. "Its a hard thing to do," Dickey said. "The game speed, and runners on -- its just going to take some time. But I felt like he looked real comfortable back there. Outside of the one passed ball, I felt like he handled it pretty well." TRAINERS ROOM Philadelphia right-handed reliever Mike Adams threw off the mound for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery on July 31. He was limited to 28 games in his first season after signing a two-year, $12 million free agent deal with the Phillies. The veteran setup reliever hopes to join the Phillies bullpen at some point in April. "It went good -- really good," he said. "It was probably an 85 per cent bullpen or so. I wasnt trying to let loose right off the bat. I was trying to get a good feel for throwing off the slope again." Philadelphia right-hander Ethan Martin, who entered camp competing for the fifth starters job, left after facing four batters in the fifth inning with shoulder discomfort. Hell be examined by the team medical staff on Friday morning. "He was pain-free pitching, but the ball just wasnt coming out, throwing 85 miles per hour," Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said. "That was a sign for me to go out and see what was going on." Adidas Superstar 2 Musta . Both times hes left empty. It was War Emblem in 2002. LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Matt Kemps agent said the Los Angeles Dodgers are not trading the All-Star outfielder. Dave Stewart spoke Wednesday with Los Angeles general manager Ned Colletti at baseballs winter meetings, and walked away feeling confident the Dodgers wouldnt move his Kemp. Rumours have circulated this week that the Dodgers are listening to offers for Kemp, who is heading into the third year of an eight-year, $160 million contract. "For the time being they are not going to move him," Stewart said. "He didnt even say that. I put in the words for the time being because you never know. Somebody could come along and overwhelm them with a player or players or a combination of players that would make it worth their while." Stewart said Kemp, who is coming off left anklle and left shoulder surgery, is right on track to be ready for the upcoming season after he hit only six homers and had 33 RBIs while hitting . "Ill say this, and this is me talking, A healthy Matt Kemp is better than anybody theyve got playing centre field," Stewart said. "They may play four outfielders but, if hes healthy, hes not going to be a platoon guy. Im saying that. If hes healthy, which we have no reason to believe hes not going to be healthy, hes going to play centre field every day and they can figure out what they want to do with the other three."
