KANSAS CITY, Mo.
Rafinha Jersey . - Jamaal Charles has passed
a battery of tests and does not show symptoms of a concussion, the Chiefs said
Wednesday — one day after the star running back told a radio show he saw light
bulbs after a hit in Kansas Citys win over San Diego.Charles took a vicious blow
from Brandon Flowers when he dove into the end zone in the Chiefs 23-20 victory
Sunday. Flowers received a concussion from the collision and missed the rest of
the game, but Charles popped up and trotted off the field, where he was met by
team trainers. He played the rest of the game. But Tuesday, he told ESPN Radio
that he saw light bulbs around my eyes a few plays later, and that he avoided
going through the NFLs concussion protocol. It wasnt a concussion. If it was a
concussion, I wouldnt remember the plays or remember none of my teammates names
or remember what sideline to go to, Charles said during the interview. I
definitely remember everything. It was just a huge hit.The Chiefs did not make
Charles available to reporters Wednesday, and Chiefs coach Andy Reid refused to
address the situation, though he did say he believes most players will tell the
training staff if they suspect they have a concussion. These guys are pretty
honest guys, Reid said. The team also said they would monitor Charles for a
couple of days. Were not classifying him having a concussion, but as with all of
our players well monitor him as it goes, head trainer Rick Burkholder said.In
the past few years, concussions have become a major story line in the NFL.
Numerous former players have filed lawsuits alleging the league failed to
properly handle head injuries, and traumatic brain injuries have been linked to
the suicides of several players. Among them is Jovan Belcher, a former teammate
of Charles who killed his girlfriend and himself two years ago. After the Chiefs
learned of the radio interview, they called Charles into the team facility
Tuesday night and began testing him, Burkholder said. The Chiefs also consulted
with neurological experts at the University of Pittsburgh and had the team
doctors examine Charles.Burkholder said the three-time Pro Bowler passed all of
the tests. When he got hit, I obviously checked with him, he said. I know coach
talked to him a bit there. I came back and consulted with the team physician; he
was absolutely asymptomatic, wasnt complaining about anything. ... obviously, we
check on those guys as they come off the field almost every series. I know coach
spent time with him on the plane after the game.Burkholder also said Charles
went through his normal weightlifting program Monday and still showed no signs
of a concussion. He didnt think anything was amiss until he heard about the
interview.Charles was diagnosed with a concussion early in last years playoff
loss to Indianapolis. He pleaded with the Chiefs to let him continue, but wound
up missing most of the game.I dont think I had to go through the concussion
protocols and all that, Charles said Tuesday. I didnt want to go through that
again because of what happened in the playoffs. I was definitely fine.Burkholder
said the Chiefs used baseline tests as well as the results from last years
concussion to compare with the new test results. The tests included SCAT3, the
Sports Concussion Assessment Tool used by most professional sports leagues;
ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing), which uses
a series of computerized evaluation measures; and the ICE Exam, which is the
University of Pittsburgh Medical Centers initial concussion evaluation test.

Hes now on their roster. Tate signed a two-year, $7 million free agent deal on
Saturday with Cleveland, which has been desperate to find a quality every-down
running back since trading Trent Richardson to Indianapolis early last season.
Tate, who spent the past four years with Houston, fills the void and the
25-year-old is excited to begin a new chapter of his career with the Browns.
"LETS DO THIS CLEVELAND!! (hashtag) DawgPound," Tate posted on his Twitter
account along with a photo of him wearing a Browns ball cap. Later in a
teleconference, Tate said hes eager to show he can be a feature back. "Its been
something Ive been waiting for, for a long time," he said. "Im just ready to
grab this opportunity and run with it and show everyone what Im all about. ... I
feel like now that Ive been given this opportunity that I can be one of the top
backs in the league. Im going to let my play speak for itself. But I want it to
be known that I do feel like Im a guy whos gonna be a top-10, top-8, top-5
running back." Tate had been linked to the Browns almost from the moment they
made the shocking deal to send Richardson to the Colts for a 2014 first-round
draft pick. Cleveland considered trading for Tate, but decided to wait until he
was available as a free agent. Tate was one of the top free agent backs on the
market, and after spending two days visiting the Browns, his agents and the team
finalized a deal. He spent the down time messaging with fans on Twitter, hoping
Cleveland would become his new football home. "I really wanted to be here," said
Tate, adding he had other visits lined up. "I thought this was going to be the
best opportunity for me. I felt like the pieces thats already here, offensive
line-wise and their plans to build in the rest of free agency and also in the
draft, so I felt like this was going to be just the best opportunity for me to
succeed and to help turn this thing around and take it to another level.
Sergi Samper Jersey. " Tate rushed for 771
yards last season, his fourth with the Texans. He played part of the year with
broken ribs, an injury that would have sidelined most players. He has averaged
4.7 yards per attempt during his career. After sitting out his rookie season in
2010 with a broken ankle, Tate took over after starter Arian Foster got hurt in
2011 and rushed for 942 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 5.4 yards per
carry. Tate said it was tough sitting and waiting behind Foster for his chance
to shine. "I feel like Im explosive," he said when asked to describe his running
style. "I feel like I can make guys miss when you hit the open field. I feel
like if its third-and-1 and Ive got to go one-on-one with a linebacker that I
can do that as well. "So I just feel like Im a total package. I feel like I can
do everything there is to. I can catch the ball out of the backfield. I feel
like I can do everything. Im a three-down back. I just would say Im just a
complete back." The Browns ranked tied for 27th in the league with 86.4 yards
rushing per game last season and scored only four TDs on the ground. Tate is the
fifth free agent signed by the Browns this week, joining safety Donte Whitner,
linebacker Karlos Dansby, cornerback Isaiah Trufant and tight end Jim Dray.
Cleveland has signed Cincinnati wide receiver Andrew Hawkins to an offer sheet
and is waiting to see if the Bengals are going to match it for the quick slot
receiver. Also, the Browns are in a holding pattern on Pro Bowl centre
Alex Mack. They designated him as their transition player, locking him into a
one-year, $10.039 million deal in 2014 unless he signs an offer sheet elsewhere
that Cleveland will have time to match.

TORONTO – The difference was as simple as special teams on this night.
Nike Air Max
2016 For Sale . The ongoing funk on penalty kill and an unusually
quiet night on home ice for the power play divided the Leafs from the Bruins at
the ACC in a rare Sunday night affair. “Theres a responsibility thats borne out
by special teams in tonights hockey game,” said Randy Carlyle after the 5-2 loss
to Boston, which snapped a brief two-game win streak. Combative with their top
rival for much of the 60 minutes, the Leafs were ultimately undone by both
special team units. Their once prideful penalty kill allowed two more power play
goals – falling to fifth-worst overall – while a typically potent man advantage
stood empty in four chances. “Our PK just let us down again,” said Jay McClement
after the loss. “Its a huge momentum builder for us and right now its going the
other way. Its killing our momentum.” Up 1-0 on the Bruins after a period – on a
goal from Peter Holland – the Leafs veered off the road when penalties to
Carter Ashton and Carl Gunnarsson struck early in the middle frame. Boston
scored twice in less than two minutes with the consecutive power plays, momentum
spiraling downward in rapid order for the Leafs. “It was bang-bang,” said
Carlyle. “All of a sudden they score two goals and the life went out of our
hockey club.” The Bruins scratched out another marker at even-strength late in
the period, a puck from rookie Kevan Miller squeezing through the pads of
Jonathan Bernier. And though they would claw back to cut the deficit to 3-2 on
McClements first of the year, the Leafs failed to score with consecutive man
advantage opportunities in the third. “We made a few mistakes on our penalty
kill and thats the difference against top teams,” said a terse Dion Phaneuf. At
equal with the Atlantic division-leading Bruins for the most part at
even-strength – the shots were 32-25 in Bostons favour – the failure on special
teams proved disappointing, especially in light of the daunting schedule that
lays ahead. The Leafs clash with the Kings, Blues, Blackhawks and Penguins over
the next week, clutching just two regulation victories in their past 17 games.
Five Points 1. Penalty Killing Funk Countering the effects of a potent Toronto
power play (more below) is an increasingly ineffective penalty kill, one that
surrendered two more goals to the Bruins on Sunday night. The unit, now
stumbling at just 77 per cent, has allowed an astounding 13 goals over the past
eight games – at least one in all eight – and two or more in five of the past
10. “Our penalty kill is something that definitely needs work,” said
Jake Gardiner, the 23-year-old leading the Leafs with over 25 minutes against
the Bruins. “Youve seen that in the past few games or even weeks I guess so its
something we need to work on.” Simple mistakes were punished. The Leafs failed
to clear pucks on each of the two Boston power play goals; Dion Phaneuf moments
before the first marker from Carl Soderberg, Mason Raymond shortly before the
second from Torey Krug, a blast that ricocheted off the shin-pad of Gardiner.
“Those two specifically came back to haunt us,” said Carlyle. His team has
allowed a league-leading 28 power play goals this season. 2. More Penalty Kill
Carlyle slightly altered the composition of the penalty kill in the past couple
games, cutting down on the minutes of the increasingly over-worked
James van Riemsdyk while inserting rookie Jerry DAmigo, a mainstay for years on
the Marlies typically strong unit. Personnel aside, the confidence of a group
that finished as the leagues second-best last season has simply vanished in
recent weeks. “I think when were going really good with it – last year and then
the start of this year – we had almost a swagger when we went out there,” said
McClement. “We expected to kill it and we were all working together. And right
now were just making tiny little mistakes and it seems like we just cant get
away with anything so we have to correct those [mistakes].” Not helping matters
much either is the amount of penalties taken. The Leafs have earned more power
play opportunities than their opponent in just one of the past nine games. 3. A
Little Depth The Leafs entered the night with 83 per cent of their offence
emerging from just seven different sources, but against the Bruins they finally
managed to find some depth. Energizing the fourth line – and later moved up to
the third unit – Peter Holland scored his second goal with the Leafs, setting up
McClement with his first this season in the third. “Obviously weve been relying
on our big guys pretty much completely all year,” said McClement, who has just
three points all season after posting 17 in 48 games last season. “Its huge if
we can get contributions from the rest of us and take the weight off our big
boys a little bit.” 4. Power Play Right up there with goaltending, the Toronto
power play has been a consistent hub of success so far this season. Though it
came up empty against the Bruins, the unit still ranks third-best in the NHL
through 31 games. “We work on it a lot and we focus on trying to execute
cleanly,” said Cody Franson prior to the game, the 26-year-old leading the team
with 11 power play points. “When you can do that it enables things to speed up a
little bit and its harder to defend as a penalty kill.” “Just movement, lots of
traffic, timely goals,” said Nazem Kadri, asked whats made it effective to date.
“Theres a few things that have been contributing; the way we bring the puck up
the ice to set up the power play. Its definitely been working for us and one of
our strengths of the year. But weve got to keep going and weve got to keep
putting pucks to the net. Sometimes maybe we get a little too cute and sometimes
were just better off just looking for those bang-in rebounds around the crease.”
Especially potent on home ice – save Sunday – the Leafs have clicked on 31.9 per
cent of their power plays at the ACC, tops in the league this season. Of note is
the limited number of penalties drawn, just 97 on the year, seventh-fewest in
the NHL. 5. Critical Areas Harping on the need to cut down on goals against from
the critical areas, Carlyle was bothered by the various locations of the Bruin
markers on Sunday. “The disappointing part for us as a coaching staff is where
the goals are scored from,” he said. “We have got to have better coverage in
those areas. If they score them from the outside those are going to happen … Its
where theyre scoring the goals from is the most important thing for us to attend
to right away.” After yielding 50 shots in consecutive wins against Dallas and
Ottawa, the Leafs allowed a comparatively scant 39 on Sunday night against
Boston. Stats-Pack 13 – Power play goals against the Leafs in the past eight
games. 8 – Consecutive games in which the Leafs have allowed at least one power
play goal. 25:21 – Ice-time for Jake Gardiner, leading the Leafs against the
Bruins. 28 – Power play goals against the Leafs this season, most in the NHL.
14-19 – Jay McClement in the faceoff circle against the Bruins. 32-25 – Shots
advantage for Boston at even-strength. 3 – Points for Peter Holland in nine
games with the Leafs. Special Teams Capsule PP: 0-4 Season: 26.7% PK: 1-3

OTTAWA -- The Montreal Canadiens couldnt help but feel a sense of payback.
New Balance 574 Uomo Blu . The Canadiens have
been seeking retribution against the Senators since last spring when Ottawa
eliminated them in the opening round of the playoffs. Montreal finally got what
it wanted on Friday night as they defeated the Senators 7-4, making Ottawas
chance at returning to the post-season that much more difficult as the club sits
seven points out of the final wild-card berth with just five games remaining.
Max Pacioretty had a hat trick for the Canadiens. "This year we definitely felt
like we owed them a little payback for last year in the playoffs and our games
have been heated against them," said Pacioretty. "Its not just on the scoreboard
that feels good its seeing guys step up and stand up for their teammates. I
think thats one of the more rewarding feelings about the night." Andrei Markov,
Mike Weaver, Lars Eller and David Desharnais also scored for Montreal (44-27-7)
as Peter Budaj stopped 39 shots for his 10th win of the season. Zack Smith
scored twice for the Senators (32-31-14) while Ales Hemsky and Mika Zibanejad
had the others. Craig Anderson faced 22 shots. Ottawa jumped out to a 3-0 lead
before the game was six minutes old, but then allowed the Canadiens to score
seven straight times. "Its hard to pinpoint exactly what happened," said Smith.
"We lost control of the game. We were up three goals and it didnt take them long
to get those back and after that it was hard to get any traction. A couple of
soft plays and turnovers and theyre in our net." Smith had few answers as to why
or how the Senators could crash so badly, but admitted it wasnt pretty. "We say
playing Montreal its an easy game to get up for," said Smith. "Thats
embarrassing. Were up 3-0 and they score seven straight." Senators coach Paul
MacLean was at a loss for words after the game. "Im numb," he said. "We came out
and played and got the lead 3-0 and then we stopped playing. We stopped doing
the things that made us successful." With already two on the night, Pacioretty
completed his hat trick at 1:09 of the third and Desharnais made it 7-3 midway
through the third beating Anderson up high. The Senators finally managed to put
an end to the onslaught 14 minutes into the third as Zibanejad beat Budaj.
Despite being outshot 15-4 in the second the Canadiens scored twice to take a
5-3 lead after 40 minutes. "Obviously you look at the shots and we got some
favourable bounces and thats just the way it goes some nights," said Pacioretty.
"It just shows our last two games against them youre never down and out."
Montreal took its first lead of the game as Eller jumped on a rebound early in
the second to make it 4-3. Ottawa appeared to tie it up on the ensuing play, but
the goal was called back due to incidental contact on the goaltender. The call
left the Senators extremely frustrated as they felt video review clearly showed
there was no contact by an Ottawa player on the play. "It was a bad call, sorry,
we disagreed with the call," said Smith. "He was adamant right from the start
that there was contact and there wasnt even discussion. Usually when that
happens theres discussion, but I have to watch what I say." Montreal made it 5-3
on Paciorettys second of the night as he took advantage of a Senators turnover
and broke in alone to beat Anderson through the legs. The game was made that
much more interesting after Erik Karlsson checked Brendan Gallagher hard into
the boards and Alex Galchenyuk took offense, leading to Karlsson and Galchenyuk
exchanging a couple punches. "All season, every time weve played them its been
bizarre games," said Montreal coach Michel Therrien. "I liked the way our team
stood up for one another. We were down 3-0 and came back and we saw a lot of
good things. We showed a lot of character." Trailing 3-0 the Canadiens got on
the board as Markov scored off a bad angle down low on Montreals second shot of
the game. Two minutes later Weavers point shot made it past a screened Anderson.
The comeback was completed as Pacioretty got past Ottawas Eric Gryba on a
bouncing puck and beat Anderson between the legs. "Its brutal," said MacLean.
"Were at home and we stopped playing. Its not right." After giving up the early
lead, Montreals P.K. Subban saw just 37 seconds of ice time in the first and
didnt get another shift until the Canadiens went on the power play at the
two-minute mark of the second. Ottawa opened the scoring at the two-minute mark
of the first as Smith scored his first off his backhand. The Senators made it
2-0 just over two minutes later as Hemsky tipped Patrick Wierciochs point shot
and it was 3-0 as Smith scored his second of the game off a great pass from
Zibanejad. The Senators played the third without Hemsky, who left with an upper
body injury. Ottawa next faces the Rangers Saturday night in New York, while the
Canadiens return home to host the Detroit Red Wings. Notes: C Jason Spezza

Ariz. -- Michael Phelps tied the fourth-fastest time in the world this year
swimming the 100-meter butterfly in his first competition in nearly two years.
His comeback has gotten off to a strong start albeit with a much different
approach than he took in winning 22 medals over three Olympics. After a 20-month
retirement, Phelps resumed training last September with his longtime coach Bob
Bowman at the North Baltimore Aquatic Center in his hometown. But he didnt pick
up the grueling regimen that had ruled his life since he was a teenager. Phelps
has slowly started back and now trains just once a day in the afternoon. No
double or triple sessions or plowing through thousands of meters a day. Call
this comeback Phelps 2.0. While his workload will go up eventually, for now
Phelps is doing half the amount of training he did during the height of career,
when he won a record eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. "Im sort of
experimenting with stuff that I didnt have the guts to do before, like not swim
as far," Bowman said. "Im very pleased with how hes doing." This relaxed
approach appears to suit both Phelps and Bowman just fine. Their decades-long
partnership -- rare in a sport where swimmers frequently change coaches --
survived fiery clashes as Phelps grew up and rebelled against Bowmans hard-nosed
ways. "Our last several years together, it really wasnt much fun for everybody,"
the coach said. Without committing to specifics, Phelps seems intent on swimming
fewer events and shorter races this time around. He turns 29 in June, and as the
most decorated Olympian in history, his place in the record books is secure. "Im
not putting any pressure on myself," he said. "Im just enjoying myself right
now." At the Arena Grand Prix meet in Mesa, he competed in just two events --
the 100 fly (he finished second to Ryan Lochte) and the 50 freestyle, where he
instead used a butterfly stroke and finished 42nd . Phelps time of 52.13 seconds
in the 100 tied for fourth-quickest in the world this year. In his other event,
he swam 500 metres of fly in 24.

piled on since retiring after the 2012 Olympics. Hes gone from a high of 225 to
194 -- about seven more pounds than he raced at in London. "Hes not fat. Hes
been pretty strong in the weight room," Bowman said. "Where hes lacking is
aerobic fitness. Hes got a good start on it." Phelps figures to improve that
aspect during upcoming high-altitude training in Colorado. Bowmans plan calls
for Phelps to work his way up to recovering faster so he can handle multiple
individual races a day and swim anywhere from one to three relays. But the coach
said his star pupil will never go back to the grind he put in to win all those
Olympic medals. "Hes much happier doing the training," Bowman said. "As long as
hes enjoying it like he is, its good for everybody. Thats what I am concerned
about." Phelps is entered in the last two Grand Prix meets of the season, in
North Carolina in May and California in June. Those are tuneups for the U.S.
national championships in August, where teams will be chosen for the Pan Pacific
Championships later that month and next years world meet. "I know if I really
want to compete at a high level, I have to be ready by this summer," he said.
Whether all this leads to swimming at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Phelps remains mum.
"I always have goals and things that I want to achieve," he said. "This has been
an amazing journey that Ive gone on so far, and I just hope it continues." In
Saturdays finals at Skyline Aquatic Center, Olympian Katie Ledecky won the 800
free in 8 minutes, 20.10 seconds. Katie Hoff, making her own comeback after
taking time off, dropped 1.55 seconds from her preliminary time to win the 200
individual medley in 2:12.92. In mens races, Olympian Tyler Clary won the 200
fly in 2:00.39; Arkady Vyatchanin of Russia won the 100 backstroke in 54.40; and
Darian Townsend of South Africa took the 200 IM in 2:02.07.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Yu Darvish let out a good yell and pumped both fists before
catcher Chris Gimenez greeted him in front of the mound.
http://www.laramsfansshop.com/c-11-rams-jared-goff-jersey.aspx
. The Texas ace wasnt necessarily celebrating his first complete game in the
major leagues. His battery mate says he does that all the time. "He just kind of
looked at me and goes, Yeah! Thats what I said back to him," Gimenez said. "He
likes going Yes! all the time. We kind of goof around with each other about it."
This was their best reason yet to have a little fun. Darvish struck out 10 in
his six-hitter, Shin-Soo Choo broke a long hitless streak with a three-run
double and the Rangers denied Miamis bid for a record interleague winning
streak, beating the Marlins 6-0 Wednesday night. Darvish (7-2) struck out the
side in the eighth to end a streak of one baserunner in each of the first seven
innings for the Marlins. The Japanese right-hander wrapped up his 73rd career
start by getting Garrett Jones to swing at a pitch in the dirt. Gimenez had to
finish it off with a throw to first. The closest Darvish had come to a complete
game were the two times he lost a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning.
The first was a perfect game bid against Houston last year. The other was
against Boston a month ago, although a scoring change a few days later altered
that. "I wasnt really conscious of throwing a complete game," Darvish said
through an translator. "I thought I was going to be out of the game after the
eighth inning, but when (manager Ron Washington) told me that Im going in the
ninth inning as well, I decided to go. And I also wanted to face (Giancarlo)
Stanton again." Darvish gave up his final single to Stanton leading off the
ninth, but Casey McGehee grounded into Miamis third double play before Jones
whiffed. "I dont think we really have anybody like that," Miami manager Mike
Redmond said when asked what NL pitchers compared to Darvish, who was facing the
Marlins for the first time. The Marlins had to settle for tying the New York
Yankees (2003-04) and Tampa Bay (2004) for the longest interleague winning
streak at 13 games. It was Miamis first interleague loss since last Aug. 12 at
Kansas City. The Rangers (32-34) snapped a four-game losing streak and avoided
falling four games under .500 for the first time since 2008. Texas split the
two-game set and is now winless in eight straight series at home. Choo was in an
0-for-18 slump when he pulled a line drive past Jones at first with the bases
loaded in the third against Jacob Turner (2-4). When Stanton couldnt cut off the
ball in right field, Elvis Andrus scored easily from first for a 3-0 lead. Choo
had a single in the fifth that again brought home Andrus, who had three hits. "I
needed just one hit, one good hard it," Choo said. "I tell myself every pitch,
start over, start over, start over." Darvish, who won his fourth straight start
for the first time in Texas, blew a 4-0 lead in his last start against Cleveland
but still got the win in a 6-4 Texas victory. There were no such threats this
time, and Darvish has allowed one earned run in 37 2-3 innings over his past
five interleague starts. Marcell Ozuna helped Darvish by getting thrown out at
second base by left fielder Michael Choice after a leadoff single in the
seventh. Justin Bour followed with a walk, but Darvish started a double play on
J.T. Realmuto to end the inning. Jones had one of the singles on a 59 mph
curveball before Darvish struck out Ozuna looking on a knee-buckling slider.
Darvish, who threw 116 pitches, got Stanton swinging on another slider in the
sixth. Turner finished the fourth inning after getting hit on the right side by
a line drive from Rougned Odour, but the right-hander didnt come out for the
fifth. He gave up six hits and five earned runs. NOTES: This was the first
meeting between the Marlins and Rangers since July 2011. They play two more in
Miami on Aug. 19-20. ... The Rangers agreed to terms with top draft pick Luis
Ortiz, a high school pitcher from California. The deal for the right-hander
includes a $1.75 million signing bonus. He will report to the Arizona League
after graduating from high school Saturday.

Canadian women made it to the Olympic womens shor track 1,500-metre final. The
last two Canadian skaters remaining, Valerie Maltais and Marie-Eve Drolet, were
eliminated from the semifinals on Saturday at the Iceberg Skating Palace in
Sochi. Chinas Zhou Yang later successfully defended her Olympic gold medal in
the final. But it was a disappointing day for Canada. Montreals Drolet, 32,
finished third in the opening semifinal group with a time of two minutes, 19.516

. - Erick Torres scored in the 79th minute to help Chivas USA tie Portland 1-1
on Saturday night, leaving the Timbers winless at 0-2-4. "Were behind the
8-ball," said Portland head coach Caleb Porter. "There are plenty of examples of
teams that have started out slow. But in the end, were not where we want to be,
at this point, and we need to step it up." Torres scored off a cross from
Leandro Barrera for his fifth goal of the season for Chivas USA (1-2-3). It was
situation Porter had hoped to avoid. "Torres was the key guy, we talked about it
all week," Porters said. "Hes good at getting into spots to score." Will Johnson
opened the scoring for Portland in the seventh minute. He scored for the first
time this year after finishing with nine goals last season. Maximiliano Urruti
forced a turnover and got the ball to Darlington Nagbe, who slid a pass between
two defenders and into enough open space for Johnson to run into it and knock a
right-footed shot past Dan Kennedy. According to Chivas USA head coach Wilmer
Cabrera, Portlands goal was helped by an error in footwear selection. "We picked
the wrong shoes," Cabrera said. "Sadly, Carlos (Bocanegra) slipped, and he
realized he needed to change his cleats. And then he was on the sideline in the
moment that we conceded that goal. They were playing with 11, we were playing
with 10, in that moment, they took advantage and they scored a goal." Portland
had a late chance when Johnson had a free kick just outside the penalty area,
but his shot hit the post and went out of bounds. Chivas USAs Thomas McNamara
was taken off on a stretcher in the 64th minute with what appeared to be a
serious knee injury. The midfielder crumpled to the ground while running with
the ball and trying to avoid Portland defenders. "Sadly, it looks pretty bad,"
said Cabrera. "Right now, we have to confirm, but its not promising for us.
Thats the sad part of this game." Portland had its 55th straight sellout with a
crowd of 20,814.

(SportsNetwork.
Air Huarache Mens .com) - Tuukka Rask had a
first-hand look at how important Tim Thomas was to the Boston Bruins franchise.
Rask and the Bruins will face their former teammate on Thursday night, when
Thomas is expected to start for the Florida Panthers against visiting Boston.
Thomas, a former ninth-round pick by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1994 draft,
signed as a free agent with the Bruins in 2002 and made his NHL debut with the
club that season, appearing in four games. He eventually became the No. 1
goaltender with the Bruins and went 196-121-45 in 378 regular-season games with
the club. The 39-year-old also posted a postseason record of 29-21 in 50 games
with the Bruins, logging a 2.07 goals against average and .933 save percentage.
He won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2011 after helping lead Boston to its first
Stanley Cup title since 1972. Thomas, a two-time Vezina Trophy winner, played
one more season with the Bruins before sitting out the lockout-shortened
campaign. He became a free agent this past offseason and appeared in training
camp with the Panthers on a professional tryout before signing a one-year deal
just before the start of the season. Thomas has made three appearances with the
Panthers, allowing nine goals on 60 shots faced. However, he has not played
since exiting last Tuesdays game versus Philadelphia early with a groin injury.
He is expected to play tonight, per Floridas official twitter account. "All
those years shooting on him in practice and what not, I think itll be fun to
finally shoot on him in a game and Im sure hes looking forward to it as well,"
said Bostons Milan Lucic. "Im sure hes happy to be back in the NHL playing and
hes found a new home here in Florida." Thomas year off allowed Rask to grab hold
of Bostons starting goaltender job after he spent the majority of his career
backing up the former since being acquired from Toronto on June 24, 2006. Rask
went 19-10-5 with a 9.29 GAA in 36 games last season, helping the Bruins get to
the Stanley Cup Finals. "I never thought that we would play against each other.
But Im glad that he made his comeback and proved people wrong again, and I hope
he does well," said the 26-year-old Rask, who is 7-1-0 with a 0.86 GAA, .972
save percentage and three shutouts lifetime versus the Panthers. Boston will
play three straight on the road after opening the season with four of five at
home and lost for the second time in its past three games with Mondays 3-2
setback to Detroit. Loui Eriksson and Milan Lucic tallied for the Bruins, while
Rask made 24 saves. "Were really struggling with our finish right now. The
chances are there but goals are not coming easy," noted Bruins head coach Claude
Julien. The Panthers, meanwhile, begin a six-game homestand and have lost five
of seven to begin the season. They were last in action on Tuesday, a 4-3 setback
to Nashville. Jonathan Huberdeau, Marcel Goc and Matt Gilroy netted goals in the
loss, while Jacob Markstrom surrendered all four goals on 30 shots. "We did some
good things tonight with our forecheck and creating turnovers," said Huberdeau.
"We can look to build on that for our next game and get some of our mistakes
straightened out." The Bruins won all three of their meetings with the Panthers
a season ago, outscoring them 11-2. They have won nine of the last 11 encounters
overall and six of the past seven in Florida.

Bishop backed his offense with a 20-save effort. Kyle Turris and Mark Stone
supplied the scores for the Senators, who have lost four of six with their
modest two-game win streak ending. Robin Lehner stopped 26 pucks in defeat.
Johnson put the Bolts ahead by a 4-2 count seconds shy of eight minutes to go in
the third period. He was left alone in the left circle to take a Nikita Kucherov
slap pass and bury it. Lehner was not allowed to leave his net for an extra
attacker until the final seconds, and the hosts only tested Bishop with six
shots in the final 20 minutes. Turris lit the lamp just 32 seconds after tthe
opening puck drop, on a quick one-timer off a backhand feed by Clarke MacArthur.
Nike Roshe One Print Black. Hedman beat
Lehner high at 3:48 of the second to tie the game, but Stone put the Senators
back on top with 7 1/2 minutes gone and seconds after a power play expired.
Tampa flipped momentum once more with goals from Johnson and Stamkos 47 seconds
apart in the late stages of the frame to head to the second intermission up 3-2.
The former saw Johnson creep behind coverage on the left side to whip home a

Toronto Rock General Manager Terry Sanderson has announced a series of roster

defenceman Jimmy Purves to the active roster.

. A day after acquiring goaltender Brandon Miller from the Philadelphia Wings in
exchange for Kyle Belton and a pair of draft picks, Sanderson was at it again
shoring things up prior to Thursdays 12:00pm ET roster freeze. To make room for
the roster moves, defender Mike Lum-Walker and goaltender Steve Fryer were
released from the active roster and signed to the practice roster. Being
released from the practice roster were defender Dustin Dunn and transition
player AJ Masson. Purves became available after Rochester released him from
their practice roster on Tuesday. Ross was released from the active roster by
Philadelphia earlier on Wednesday. In his 7th NLL season, Ross has seen career
stops in Chicago, Minnesota and Philadelphia. He scored 6 goals and added 6
assists for 12 points in 6 games this season with the Wings. In 2012 with the
Swarm, the 28-year old put up career-high totals for goals 28 and points 59.
Last season in Minnesota, he tallied a career-high 33 assists en route to a
53-point campaign. Purves, 23 years old and in his 4th NLL season, had yet to
play a game in 2014. He won a championship with Rochester last season and
dressed for all three of the Knighthawks playoff games. He started his NLL
career in Buffalo in 2011 and moved on to Rochester during the 2013 season.

what Remi Dibo enjoyed more: being the centerpiece of West Virginias 3-point
show against No. 11 Iowa State, or clamping down on Big 12 scoring leader Melvin
Ejim. Dibo scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Mountaineers to a 102-77
victory Monday night, the Cyclones most lopsided loss of the season. Dibo went 6
of 8 from beyond the arc as West Virginia tied a season high with 13 3-pointers.
A native of France who finished his high school career in southern West Virginia
and played last season at Wyomings Casper College, the 6-foot-7 Dibo made his
fourth straight start and fifth overall. "I think my teammates did a great job
of finding me," Dibo said. "I think its been a while. Theyve been doing a good
job finding me and I was not responding. But I did today." Juwan Staten added 19
points and Eron Harris and Terry Henderson each had 16 points for the
Mountaineers (15-10, 7-5 Big 12). Iowa State (18-5, 6-5) had five players in
double figures, led by Georges Niangs 17 points. But Ejim, coming off a Big
12-record 48 points and a career-high 18 rebounds against TCU, was guarded by
Dibo and held to six points -- 12 below his average -- on 1-of-9 shooting. "We
just knew we couldnt let him score 40 points on us," Dibo said. "We had to make
an effort on him." The Cyclones fell behind by double digits midway through the
first half and trailed by as many as 32 points late in the game. It was the most
lopsided loss for Iowa State since a 23-point setback at Texas in January 2011.
"It was pretty much, start to finish, just a poor effort on our end," Iowa State
coach Fred Hoiberg said. West Virginia shot 54 per cent (35 of 65) from the
field, hit a season-high for points and improved to 2-1 amid a stretch of four
straight games against ranked opponents heading into a matchup Saturday at No.
19 Texas. Iowa States outside scoring was virtually nonexistent until it was too
late. The Cyclones were held to 37 per cent shooting (26 of 71) in losing their
fourth road conference game.
http://www.authenticredskinsfanatic.com/c-7-redskins-sean-taylor-jersey.aspx.
West Virginia coach Bob Huggins called it "by far the best" defensive effort
from his team this season. Dustin Hogue added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the
Cyclones while Deandre Kane had 14 points, Matt Thomas 13 and Monte Morris 10.
Kane, a Pittsburgh native, had more than 50 relatives and friends in attendance.
He went 1-2 against the Mountaineers while he played at instate rival Marshall
and was booed and taunted whenever he touched the ball. "Tonight we just didnt
have it," Hoiberg said. "I dont know what it was. This group has been very
focused and given everything all year." West Virginias lack of bench scoring had
stood out in a double-digit loss to No. 7 Kansas on Saturday. On Monday, the
Mountaineers reserves outscored Iowa States 27-15. "We had pretty much the same
shots against Kansas, but we didnt make them," Huggins said. "Today, we made
them." Trailing 52-33 at halftime, Iowa State put together its best stretch and
closed the gap to 58-44 5 minutes into the second half before West Virginia
again pulled away. The Cyclones went 4 minutes between field goals after that,
and West Virginia got a big boost from its bench to keep the pressure on.
Freshman Nathan Adrian made two baskets and two free throws, and Kevin Noreen
doubled his season scoring average with a layup and two free throws. Dibos
3-pointer with 6:53 left gave the Mountaineers their largest lead, 86-54. "We
just stuck to the game plan," Dibo said. "We couldnt let them make a run to come
back. We knew from the past every time we had a lead, we had let teams come
back, and we knew we couldnt let that happen." The only drama for West Virginia
came when Harris was ejected for a flagrant foul with 4:25 left. After the game,
West Virginias players went into the student section to celebrate.

HOUSTON -- Tracy McGrady wants to follow Michael Jordans path to the national

. The retired seven-time NBA All-Star is aiming to become a baseball player, and
plans to try pitching for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic
League. Thats the same team that Roger Clemens pitched for a couple of years
ago. Jordan famously played in the Chicago White Sox organization in 1994 during
his first retirement from basketball, reaching the Double-A level. A statement
from the Skeeters says that it is a "lifelong dream" of McGradys to play
baseball. "McGrady has demonstrated skill, determination and diligence during
his training program," the statement said. "We look forward to monitoring his
progress." The 34-year-old McGrady played for several teams, including the
Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic. He last played in the NBA in the 2011-12
season. The Skeeters last made national headlines when Clemens pitched two games
for them in 2012 at age 50. McGrady made seven consecutive All-Star games from
2001-07. The 6-foot-8 McGrady, natural right-hander, was drafted out of high
school with the ninth overall pick in 1997 by the Toronto Raptors. He spent his
first three seasons with the Raptors before becoming a star with the Magic. He
spent four years with the Magic and led the NBA scoring in both the 2002-03 and
2003-04 seasons. He then joined the Rockets where he teamed with Yao Ming to
help Houston to three playoff appearances. McGrady played for the Knicks,
Detroit and Atlanta after a six-year stint with the Rockets. He retired with

University of Dayton Arena, as No. 16 seeds the Albany Great Danes and the Mount
St. Marys Mountaineers face off in South Regions first round, with the winner
advancing to play No. 1 seed Florida on Thursday. In the Midwest Region of the
bracket, the ACCs NC State Wolfpack and Big Easts Xavier Musketeers will battle
it out for the vacant position at UD Arena in Dayton. The winner advances
through the first round and will clash with the fifth- seeded Saint Louis
Billikens. You can watch live streaming coverage of both games tonight beginning
at 6:40pm et/3:40pm pt, exclusively on TSN GO. Albany finished the regular
season in fourth place in the American East Conference, but it blazed through
the conference tournament with three straight wins, beating both top-seeded
Vermont (67-58 in the semifinals) and second-seeded Stony Brook (69-60 in the
championship) en route to the automatic bid. The Great Danes have played in the
NCAA Tournament three previous times (2006, 2007, 2013) but have yet to earn a
win. Mount Saint Marys also played the spoiler in its conference tournament.
After entering the Northeast Conference Tournament as the No. 4 seed at just
13-16 overall, it pieced together three straight wins over St. Francis-Brooklyn
(72-71), Wagner (77-72) and Robert Morris (88-71). The Mountaineers have also
qualified for the Big Dance on three other occasions, having previously defeated
Coppin State in the 2008 play-in game (69-60) before losing to top- seeded North
Carolina (113-74). This marks the first-ever meeting between Albany and Mount
St. Marys on the hardwood. The Great Danes lost control of a halftime lead in
the America East Tournament title game but finished the game on a 23-8 run over
the final 6:47 to punch their ticket. Sam Rowley led the way with 18 points on
9-of-11 shooting from the field. DJ Evans and Peter Hooley netted 16 and 15
points, respectively, while Gary Johnson tallied eight points and 10 rebounds.
Scoring points hasnt been Albanys speciality this season, as it scores a mere
66.0 ppg on less than 44 percent shooting from the field, but it has excelled on
the defensive end of the floor in yielding just 63.8 ppg on 41.9 percent
shooting. Hooley pours in a team-best 15.7 ppg on 69-of-172 shooting from beyond
the arc (.401). Rowley (11.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg) is a mainstay in the paint, while
Evans (11.2 ppg) and Johnson (10.9 ppg) have also been solid. The Mountaineers
made easy work of Robert Morris in the NEC championship bout, running out to a
commanding 16-point lead at intermission before cruising to the easy
double-digit victory. They shot a blistering 60.4 percent from the field in the
triumph and had five players register in double figures, paced by Rashad Whacks
20 points. Julian Norfleet had 17 points, Taylor Danaher and Sam Prescott netted
15 apiece and Will Miller scored 11 off the bench. Mount St. Marys plays an
opposite style of basketball as Albany, as it rarely has trouble filling up the
scoreboard (76.2 ppg) yet leaves itself vulnerable on the defensive end of the
court (78.0 ppg). The squad has a dynamic scoring duo in Whack (17.7 ppg) and
Norfleet (17.5 ppg), with Norfleet also finding time to dish out 5.4 apg.
Prescott rounds out the double-digit scorers by putting up 11.0 ppg. NC State
made some waves in the ACC Tournament ovver the weekend by defeating
Miami-Florida and then Syracuse to advance to the conferences semifinal round.

The Wolfpack were taken down by Duke, 75-67, and were considered one of the most
on-the-fence teams when it came to the tournaments selection. Xavier narrowly
edged out Marquette in the Big East Tournaments quarterfinal round, but lost to
Creighton, 86-78, in the semifinals. The Musketeers will need to prove their way
into the field of 64. This will be the first-ever meeting between NC State and
Xavier. Each team has a deep history in the NCAA Tournament, however. The
Wolfpack own a 34-21 all-time record in the tournament, and were present in last
seasons round of 64. Xavier comes in at 21-23 all-time, and made it to the Sweet
16 back in 2012. NC State and Duke had quite the battle going in Saturdays ACC
Tournament semifinal, as the Blue Devils had just a one-point lead over the
Wolfpack at the end of the first half. But Dukes defense stepped it up in the
second frame by holding the Wolfpack to 35.5 percent shooting from the floor as
the Blue Devils ended NC States quest for a conference title. T.J. Warren has
been spectacular this season, and is now the programs all-time leader in a
single season with 29 20-plus point contests. He had 21 with eight rebounds to
lead the Wolfpack against Duke (his 17th consecutive 20-point game), while
Lennard Freeman chipped in 13 points with nine boards and Anthony Barber scored
12 in the loss. N.C. State couldnt keep Duke from netting 57.1 percent of the
teams shot attempts in the game. Warrens beastly season has led to much acclaim
as he could very well enter the NBA after this season, earning ACC Player of the
Year. The athletic forward is averaging an astounding 24.8 ppg for the Wolfpack,
proving to be the go-to scorer when a basket is needed. He also leads the team
with a 7.2 rpg average, and adds 57 steals to his season resume. Ralston Turner
is the only other player on the Wolfpack roster to average a double-digit point
total, netting 10.2 ppg. Barber tops the squad with 124 assists, and BeeJay Anya
leads with 40 blocked shots. NC State averages 70.8 ppg through 33 games played,
and gives up 69.5 ppg to opponents. Things looked bad for Xavier early on
against Creighton in the Big East Tournament semifinals, as the Bluejays took a
45-33 lead into the intermission. But the Musketeers formed a comeback attempt
in the second period, and started to cut into the lead as time went on. However,
Creighton, behind the nations leading scorer Doug McDermott and his 32-point
