TSNs Jack Armstrong offers his thoughts on Doc Rivers, the Raptors making the playoffs, Andre Iguodala, Canadians in the NBA Draft and Raptors head coach Dwane Casey. Doudoune Homme Canada Goose Solde . 1. DOC RIVERS (Clippers): Great move for the Clips.  Gives them a terrific shot at retaining Chris Paul and they get a top-notch coach who will handle the pressure of a big market like L.A. quite easily. The Celtics get a first round pick in 2015, and more importantly begin the process of dismantling their team to acquire assets for a rebuild/restructure. It will be interesting to see how things are handled right now with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce & Rajon Rondo as well as the hiring of a new coach.  GM Danny Ainge is a bold/progressive thinker and will try to be active if/when possible. Right move for both teams. 2. TORONTO RAPTORS - PLAYOFFS?: Think about it for a second. Miami, Indiana, Chicago, Brooklyn and New York - Put those five in the Top 5 in whatever order youd like for next season.  After that, its a crap shoot for the bottom three spots of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Milwaukee, Atlanta and Boston (the other three playoff teams from this past season) are all going to have a different and possibly weaker look next season. The six, seven and eight spots are up for grabs. Im as curious as all of you what the Raps decide to do in the coming months with their team building plan. Do they try to develop a winning/playoff environment during the 2013-14 season or go the developmental route and try to acquire assets for down the line? Your guess is as good as mine. This Thursday nights NBA Draft will be our first look at what the direction will be. 3. ANDRE IGUODALA (Nuggets): Opting out of his contract and will be a free agent.  The trade to Denver was a great opportunity to showcase his game in an up tempo style that suited his game.  Hes a versatile athlete who plays both ways well and hard for you. Hes got lots of fans round the league and hes proven to be a valuable member of both the 76ers and the Nuggets and has the Olympics experience under his belt. Hes polished and hell be a target for teams with cap space if he keeps his salary/term demands at a fair/reasonable level. 4. CANADIANS IN THE NBA DRAFT (Anthony Bennett-UNLV / Kelly Olynyk-Gonzaga / Myck Kabongo-Texas):  If you get a chance, check out Mondays USA Today. Theres a neat article on the growth of basketball in Canada. Well likely see three more Canadians drafted on Thursday night. Bennett and Olynyk are first rounders and Kabongo is all over the board in the 2nd round, depending on who you talk with. Im excited to see how it unfolds and more importantly for the future of Canadian hoops.  The best is yet to come! 5. DWANE CASEY (Toronto Raptors): Announced last week that hell be back as the head coach. Beyond staff decisions, player development and putting together the roster with GM Masai Ujiri, a huge component of improving the team in 2013-14 will be how they perform/execute in the fourth quarter of games. Situational basketball performance is the make/break aspect of teams and coaches. Im sure Casey and his new staff will take significant time between now and the start of evaluating each and every fourth quarter this past season where the Raptors let a lead slip away that resulted in a loss. Way too many times this took place and it will be the defining judgment piece for this upcoming season. How you perform under the pressure of the fourth quarter spotlight in the NBA is usually the make/break aspect of a team, season and coaching staff. Control to the best of your ability what you can control and move those chess pieces in an appropriate/timely manner and the narrative of a season becomes more fun to watch. Canada Goose Manteau Femme . NFL teams had to trim rosters to the regular-season limit of 53 players by Saturday. Clausen was waived/injured. He started 10 games as a rookie in 2010 and threw for 1,558 yards with three touchdowns and nine interceptions in a 2-14 season. The Panthers drafted Cam Newton the following April. Derek Anderson is Newtons backup. Carolina also released veteran cornerback Drayton Florence, whod been working as a starter most of preseason, offensive tackle Patrick Brown and linebacker Jason Williams. Along with Clausen, the Panthers waived three other players drafted by former general manager Marty Hurney: wide receiver David Gettis, defensive tackle Sione Fua and safety D.J. Campbell. Among the others waived Saturday were running back Tauren Poole, wide receivers Brenton Bersin, Taulib Ikharo and James Shaw, tight ends Dominique Curry and Zach Pianalto, offensive linemen Garrett Chisolm, Hayworth Hicks, and Tori Mobley, defensive linemen Casey Walker and Craig Roh, linebackers Doug Hogue and Ben Jacobs, and safeties Anderson Russell and Robert Lester. Like Clausen, Gettis, Campbell and Russell would revert back to the teams injured reserve if they clear waiverrs. Doudoune Canada Goose Homme Pas Cher. Its possible the team could work out an injury settlement with those players allowing them to become free agents. Clausen wrote on Twitter on Saturday: "Just want to thank the Panthers Organization and the city of Charlotte for drafting me and making this home for me the last 3 years!" Clausen had a solid training camp for the Panthers, but struggled throughout the preseason games. In the preseason finale against Pittsburgh on Thursday night, he fumbled out of bounds and also tripped as he attempted to make a handoff on a play at the goal line. He finished the preseason 14 of 25 for 119 yards with no touchdown passes. He was sacked three times. After Thursday nights game, coach Ron Rivera said part of Clausens problems stemmed from playing behind the third string offensive line. "The unfortunate thing for Jimmy hes working in with the third and fourth guys and thats always tough, so you always have to take that with a grain of salt," Rivera said. "He made some good throws and threw a nice back shoulder to James Shaw. Its just, you wish you could present him with some better opportunities as far as the guys on the field with him." Florence became expendable after second-year cornerback Josh Norman proved his worth by intercepting three passes during the preseason. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
COLUMBIA, Mo. Canada Goose Sale Outlet . -- Michael Sam was just another recruit when he left his small Texas hometown and arrived in Missouri. Playing for the Tigers, he turned into a private loquacious leader ready to make a trailblazing announcement. The defensive star wants to become the first openly gay NFL player. "I told him: This is going to be mammoth," coach Gary Pinkel said Monday, a day after Sam came out to the world. "I dont have a word, OK, for how big this is going to be." Its a bigger deal for the older generation. Sams teammates and acquaintances easily made the adjustment, plus he proved himself on the field. "Hes a leader," former 49ers great running back Roger Craig said. "I would definitely welcome him on my team. Id play with him any day. I like people who stand up for themselves." Sam revealed he was gay at one of the football teams get-acquainted dinners last summer hosted by Pinkel and assistant coaches. The next day, Pinkel said, Sam told the entire team. Realizing the enormity of the situation, Pinkel left the next move up to the senior who blossomed into one of the best defensive ends in the country -- and one surrounded by teammates who didnt worry one bit about sexual orientation or reveal his secret until he came out on Sunday. Athletes across the campus approve. "Love is love," basketball guard Jordan Clarkson said. "Thats their personal life." Pinkel, athletic director Mike Alden and other school officials applauded Sams courage Monday at Faurot Field. As a backdrop, the first two letters of Sams last name were etched in snow to join the giant "M" just beyond the north end zone. "Pretty cool," Pinkel said. Coaches and Sam agreed that making an announcement during the season might be a distraction. It was Sams call to skip all the weekly media days and postgame news conferences, too, the better to avoid the risk of the topic coming up. Sam broke his silence prior to the Cotton Bowl and the conversation stayed on football, just like he wanted. Sam was prompted to make his decision to come out after the Senior Bowl, where it became apparent the players sexual orientation was widely known. This meant a declaration just days before the NFL combine and shouldering the pressure that goes along with the historic declaration. "Its very clear that everybody in the NFL knew," said Howard Bragman, a consultant hired by Sams agent to help manage the announcement in the media. The NFL and many others, including the White House, publicly applauded Sams decision. President Barack Obamas spokesman, first lady Michelle Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden all called him a courageous and inspirational athlete. But now, after a few high-profile interviews, its back to silent Sam. The fifth level of the stadium was jammed with dozens of reporters for Mondays news conference but there was no sign of the star attraction. Bragman said Sam was travelling Monday to a camp at an undisclosed location where hell prepare for the combine. Though hes been a most reticent public speaker, Pinkel described Sam as a virtual chatterbox. "He drove me crazy a lot of times, he doesnt shut up sometimes," Pinkel said with a chuckle. "He talks and talks and talks. "You always know hes in with my secretary because I can hear him and I have to close the door -- I cant concentrate." Sam arrived at Missouri without fanfare. Rivals.com gave him just two stars when he was coming out of Hitchcock High School. He had 10 career starts before his breakout senior season. The All-America defensive end led the Southeastern Conference with 11 1/2 sacks and 19 tackles for loss. He was the co-SEC defensive player of the year. But Sam has been projected as a mid-level NFL draft pick, probably because hes a bit undersized at 6-foot-2 and 255 pounds and is likely headed for a transition to outside linebacker. Pinkel doesnt think the announcement will hurt Sams draft status. "Our team was able to move past it and work together," defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski said. "So why shouldnt a bunch of professional football players be able to do the same thing?" There have been a few NFL players who have come out after their playing days, including Kwame Harris and Dave Kopay. "There will be some adjustments that will have to be made, sure," Craig said. "I think it will be a learning curve for the whole league." Canada Goose Banff Parka . Roberto Luongo, who spent all of last season expecting to be traded, admitted that it was strange to be back in Vancouver wearing a Canucks sweater again. "It was a bit odd flying in," Luongo said after training with several Canucks at the University of British Columbia. "Just when you think youve seen it all, theres always something else. I dont know what the future holds but right now Im just focused on the season." Luongo dodged the question of whether hes happy to remain a member of the Canucks. "Ive said all along I want to play," he said. "Now I have that opportunity. "I want to take advantage of that and I want to win some games. I want to go as far as we can and hopefully win the Stanley Cup. Its a big year for me. Ive been sitting on the bench for a while and I want to show everybody what I can do. We all know its an Olympic year. I just want to make the best of it." The Canucks goaltending situation has been one of Vancouvers most watched soap operas the last few seasons, with Luongo playing a starring role. The veteran said his goodbyes last spring after the Canucks were eliminated from the first round of the playoffs by the San Jose Sharks. The 34-year-old had been looking for a trade ever since Cory Schneider replaced him as Vancouvers starter. The general consensus was the Canucks would deal the three-time Vezina Trophy finalist over the summer. In a move that stunned many -- including Luongo -- the Canucks instead dealt the 27-year-old Schneider to the New Jersey Devils at Junes NHL draft for the ninth overall pick, which Vancouver used to take Bo Horvat. "It caught me by surprise," said Luongo. "It takes a while. Its a process." Vancouvers training camp officially opens Wednesday and Luongo said getting back on the ice to play hockey offers him some solace. "Thats where you are the most comfortable, when youre on the ice," he said. "Youre playing the game and youre not thinking about stuff. "Thats why Im anxious to get training camp started ... to get back to a regular routine and not worry about other stuff." Luongos contract was a stumbling block in trying to trade him. He has nine years and US$40.5 million left on a deal that counts as a US$5.3 million salary cap hit. In a market once called a "goaltender graveyard," Luongo has always been a lightening rod for criticism. He isnt even sure how local fans will react to his return. "To be honest with you I dont know how its going to work out," said Luongo, who posed for pictures with several people after the workout. "Theres always going to be people supporting and theres going to be people not so supportive. It goes along with the territory. Ive realized that over the course of the year you cant really please evverybody. Canada Goose Banff Parka Coat. " In his early days in Vancouver, Luongo could sometimes be cocky, even arrogant. Some days he was friendly, others aloof. He showed more maturity the last few seasons and was praised for the way he handled the situation with Schneider. The two goaltenders were supportive of each other and didnt want to be a distraction to the team. "Ive always been the same person," said Luongo. "I just think a lot of people didnt see that before. "You learn and gain experience and learn to handle certain situations, whether they are a bit more complicated or whether you are thriving. You have to handle things a certain way. Maybe I have learned that a little bit more over the last couple of years. You have to practise it." Luongo was silent in the immediate aftermath of the trade, leading to speculation he was angry. There were suggestions he might boycott the Canucks training camp. "No," he said, dismissing the notion. "Thats not my style." Vancouver general manager Mike Gillis went to Luongos home in Florida over the summer to speak with his goaltender. "We chatted," Luongo said. "There was no animosity. "I dont know if it was as rosy as he painted it but we had a couple of laughs. They were just trying to do their job (trading Schneider). I dont hold that against them." In another major move, the Canucks fired coach the easy going Alain Vigneault and replaced him with the fiery John Tortorella. "Hes going to bring a change to the dressing room," Luongo said. "Not that Alain was a bad coach but sometimes change is good. "We will see what he brings. Hopefully it will spark the boys a little bit." Last year as Schneiders backup, Luongo appeared in 20 games, including 18 starts. He had a 9-6-3 record, with two shutouts, a 2.56 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage. Luongos relationship with the Canucks may have been strained, but he sounded like a man ready to try and make things work on Friday. A strong start to the season will also help him gain a spot on the Canadian team defending its Olympic gold medal. "Ive been focused, getting ready for the last month or so," he said. "I try to eliminate every distraction, just worrying about playing the game. "At this point in time thats all I really want to be focused on ... making sure that I get back to where I was two years ago, establish myself as one of the best in the league. I dont want to squander an opportunity like that. I have a great chance to play and I want to take advantage of it." Note: The Canucks also announced Friday that Pavel Bures No. 10 will be retired at Rogers Arena prior to Vancouvers Nov. 2 game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. In 428 games with Vancouver, Bure collected 478 points, including 254 goals. He still holds the team record for most points scored by a rookie, with 34 goals and 26 appoints in 65 games. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
MADRID, Spain -- Goals by Mikel San Jose, Andoni Iraola and Benat Etxebarria gave Athletic Bilbao a 3-2 win over Celta Vigo at the inaugural match in its new San Mames Stadium in the Spanish league on Monday. Allen Iverson Pistons Jersey . "This is very good news for us, apart from the three points, we had the dream of starting off in this place with a win," Athletic coach Ernesto Valverde said. Celta striker Charles Dias silenced the 36,000 crowd when he opened the scoring against the flow of play in the 14th minute from a cross by Rafinha after rushing forward on a swift counterattack. Mikel San Jose drew loud cheers from Athletic fans when he equalized in the 18th, beating goalkeeper Yoel Rodriguez after controlling the ball from a free kick taken by Benat Etxebarria. Iraola scored his first goal of the season for Athletic in the 61st from a delicate back-pass by Iker Munain. Seven minutes later, Etxebarria timed his run forward to beat the offside trap, controlled the ball in the area, skilfully sidestepped a defender and calmly shot low into goal. "It was important that the inauguration should begin on a good footing with a victory and Im absolutely delighted," he said. Santiago Mina pulled one back for Celta when he angled a back-header over goalkeeper Iago Herrerins outstretched hands in the 79th. Celta missed other opportunities. Athletic goalkeeper Iago Herrerin gave away a penalty in the 26th when he brought down Manuel "Nolito" Agudo in the area, but the forward shot over the crossbar. Dias just missed a second in the 41st when his shot went high after having found himself alone in front of goal after a counterattack. "Im focusing on the match. The stadium will likely be here another 100 years, but the three points being battled for today, if lost, wont come back again," said Jose Angel Iribar, 70, who played 614 games for Athletic from 1964-1980 and was watching from the stands. Two draws, that could not have been any more different, highlighted the opening day of UEFA Womens Euro 2013. Chris McCullough Jersey .  Italy and Finland shared the points in an uneventful 0-0 draw, while two dramatic penalty saves helped Denmark hold on to a 1-1 tie against Sweden. Danish keeper Stina Petersen stopped Swedish superstar Lotta Schelin and her teammate Kosovare Asllani both from the penalty spot to preserve a 1-1 final score and earn her team a point against the tournament hosts. Mariann Gajhede Knudsen opened the scoring for Denmark in the 26th minute, before Nilla Fischer equalized the game for Sweden, 10 minutes before halftime. The points were then split after Sweden failed to convert 67th and 85th minute penalties. In the first game of the day as well as the tournament opener, Italy pushed forward but was not able to find the goal that would give them the victory against Finland. Italys Chiara Marchitelli and Finlands Tinja-Riikka Korpela picked up the clean sheets, though only Korpela was forced to record a save. Brook Lopez Jersey . -- Matt Kuchar and Harris English ran away with the Franklin Templeton Shootout, shooting a 14-under 58 on Sunday in the final-round scramble to break the tournament course record. Bojan Bogdanovic Nets Jersey . The veteran signal caller has seen seven coaching changes during his tenure in Montreal. He was named an East Division All-Star under Coach of the Year Charlie Taaffe; won a Grey Cup, a Most Outstanding Player Award, and was twice named a CFL All-Star under Hall of Fame coach Don Matthews; and two consecutive Grey Cup victories, Most Outstanding Player Awards, and All-Star selections under now-Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman. New head coach Dan Hawkins surely is hoping the 40-year-old has some gas left in the tank for his coaching reign. Hawkins, who cut his coaching teeth in the NCAA, will need Calvillo to be a team leader and help him navigate through the unique challenges of the Canadian game. Calvillos 2012 stat line suggeests there is no reason to believe he wont be up to the task (his 5,000+ passing yards, 31:14 touchdown to interception ratio; and 60% completion percentage were in line with some of the better seasons throughout his career). Custom Brooklyn Nets Jersey. In other words, despite the odd whisper or suggestion that the 19-year-veteran has lost a step, he is still very much a premier QB in the CFL. Calvillos sustained high play is a good thing, because while Hawkins is inheriting a team with lots of talent, it is also one that has been subject to more change in recent years than some Alouettes fans are used to. The off-season was once again somewhat uncharacteristically busy in Montreal; GM Jim Popp taking flyers on some potential boom or bust veterans in free agency to fill roster holes. Canadas womens soccer team will open its 2014 schedule with a friendly against the United States on Jan. Clyde Drexler Blazers Jersey . 31. The game will take place in the U.S., although the location has yet to be determined. The teams last met on June 2 in front of a record-setting crowd at BMO Field in Toronto, with the Americans winning 3-0. That game -- billed as "The Rematch" -- marked both the first meeting between the rivals since Canadas heartbreaking 4-3 loss to the U.S. in the 2012 Olympic semifinals, and the Canadians first game back home since they won bronze in London. The Olympic semifinal -- which will go down as one of the most memorable in Canadian soccer history -- turned on a controversial free kick, awarded when Norwegian referee Christina Pedersen determined Canadas keeper Erin McLeod took longer than the allowable six seconds to put the ball back into play. The Canadian women have an all-time record of three wins, five draws and 45 losses in 53 international matches against the Americans, and have never won at home, tying them once and losing six times in seven home matches dating back to 1990. RENTON, Wash. Canada Goose Constable Parka . -- Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin and cornerback Brandon Browner will both be out for Sundays game at San Francisco, coach Pete Carroll said Friday. The decision to hold the pair out isnt surprising, although the Seahawks were hopeful both would make progress coming back from injuries this week. Browner has been out since Week 10 with a groin injury suffered against Atlanta, while Harvin continues to deal with soreness in his comeback from hip surgery. Harvin made his season debut in Week 11 against Minnesota but has been unable to get back on the field since. Carroll said that next week -- with Seattle having a full week of preparations -- will be important in Harvins recovery. "Were looking forward to next week being a really important week. We think we got a shot at it. So its important for us to go ahead," Carroll said. "I dont care about making that statement now that were hoping for us is a big week for us with him. Itll be kind of week-to-week in a sense as we go forward." Browner was ahead of schedule in his recovery from a groin injury. Carrroll said this week they initially believed it would be six weeks before Browner had a chance to return, but he practiced in a limited fashion on Wednesday. He did not practice either Thursday or Friday. "We didnt make much progress there. So we did not bring him back out," Carroll said. Outside linebacker Bruce Irvin will be able to play after missing two days of practice this week with a thigh injury. He was a full participant in Fridays practice. The only other concern for Seattle is backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, who missed the last two days of practice with an illness. Carroll also said that James Carpenter will start at left guard against the 49ers. Carpenter and Paul McQuistan had been rotating at the position the past few weeks. "Hes earned that shot to do that and weve told him a couple of weeks ago wed be in this type of rotation to give these guys a chance to really battle," Carroll said. Smith will seek treatment following his arrest Friday for suspicion of driving under the influence and marijuana possession. After Sundays loss to the Colts, Smith apologized and acknowledged he will get help, but didnt field questions. "First off, I wanted to apologize to the team, the organization, my family and everybody I let down," he said. "I also wanted to let it be known that this is a problem and its something that I will get fixed, and that Ill do everything in my power to make sure that this never happens again. I also wanted to let everybody know that once again Im sorry." Smith started for San Francisco and had five tackles in a 27-7 loss, two days after he was arrested and jailed early Friday morning after his truck hit a tree. York defended the organizations decision to play Smith. "Our opinion is if youre sitting someone down and paying them to sit down when theyre going to seek treatment in the future, we didnt feel like that was an appropriate punishment," he said. "Were not trying to circumvent what the NFL will do. This is about making sure that Aldon has the opportunity to work on something, to get better, and he knows that he has our support and hopefully he has everybodys support in something that has been very difficult." York expects Smith to get help on his own, but the 49ers wont interfere. "I think Aldon is going to take steps on his own," York said. Smith is a key pass rusher and sacks leader for the 49ers, and coach Jim Harbaugh had said leading up to Sunday that the NFL would decide how to puniish the third-year pro, who turns 24 Wednesday. Canada Goose Trillium Parka Women. He had a franchise-record 19 1/2 sacks last season, second in the NFL. When asked about Smith getting help, Harbaugh said "theres a process there well apprise you of at the appropriate time." Smith has had a rash of run-ins with the law that raised questions about his character. "It was disappointing, but we support him, and knowing that what he wants to do is not a one-day fix, its a long-term fix for Aldon," York said. "And Aldon is willing to fight for himself and try to make this right, and I will see it through, and I will support him. I will take any shots that anybody wants to direct at the organization. They can direct at me, and I will support Aldon as long as he is willing to work at this and fight to get better." Earlier this month, a lawsuit was filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court naming Smith by a Northern California man who said he was shot at a party at Smiths house on June 29, 2012. The players charged a $10 admission and $5 per drink, the lawsuit said. Smith and former 49ers tight end Delanie Walker, 29 were allegedly intoxicated on Smiths balcony when they later fired gunshots in the air while trying to end the party, the lawsuit said. Before the 2012 home opener last September, Smith was the passenger in a car accident in Santa Clara County in which the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer. Smith sustained a cut beneath his right eyebrow. He apologized and insisted he had grown up. The 49ers selected Smith seventh overall in the first round of the 2011 draft out of Missouri. He became an instant impact player like many of the others chosen by general manager Trent Baalke in the past three drafts. Wholesale Jerseys China' ' '

After losing 4-3 in a shootout to the Dallas Stars Sunday afternoon, the Senators coach took solace in the fact that his team forced the game past overtime. "I thought we dug in and found a way to get something out of a game," MacLean said. "Thats a great start for our team." While the Senators (4-6-4) will happily take the point, they realize theyre left facing a five-game winless streak. In addition they havent won on home ice since October 17. "We cant keep doing this all season," said Erik Karlsson. "We got a point and we played better than we have in the past so we have to take the positives out of things and (Sunday) that was it." Adding to their list of woes is the fact the Senators could be without starting goaltender Craig Anderson. Anderson went down hard after being hit by Valeri Nichushkin with 1:32 gone in overtime. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher after he appeared to take a knee to the head. The Ottawa goalie was able to walk around on his own by the end of the game, but MacLean said he was suffering from a stiff neck and would require further evaluation. MacLean said he expects him to miss Tuesdays game in Columbus. Jamie Benn scored the winner in the shootout. Milan Michalek, Jason Spezza and Bobby Ryan were all stopped by Kari Lehtonen, who faced 36 shots. Anderson faced 36 shots before Robin Lehner was forced into action. Lehner made two saves in overtime and stopped Tyler Seguin in the shootout. "Its obviously big to get those two (points) and start the road trip on the right foot," said Benn. "It wasnt an easy two points and we really didnt help ourselves out too much. We gave up a couple, but found a way to win in the shootout." Antoine Roussel, Ray Whitney and Nichushkin also scored for the Stars (6-6-2), while Erik Karlsson, Ryan and Spezza had the Senators three goals. The Senators tied the game with 9.6 seconds remaining in regulation when Ryan jumped on a loose puck in the slot and put it in the net. "We rebounded which we really havent seen our team do in the past,," Ryan said. Maurice Richard Canadiens Jersey. "We found a way to get one late to tie it. I thought the team battled and thats all you can really ask for." Ottawa was outshot 19-9 in the first period, giving up numerous odd-man rushes and leaving Anderson to fend for himself. Dallas opened the scoring at 17:03 of the first period after Whitney beat Anderson glove side. The play was a result of a Michalek turnover in the Stars end. Nichushkin made it 2-0 when he took a saucer pass from Brenden Dillon and beat Anderson high for his first NHL goal, 30 seconds into the second period. Ottawa cut the lead in half as Karlsson took a cross-ice pass from Ryan and caught Lehtonen moving. The Senators capped the period with a power-play goal from Spezza to make it 2-2. "Youve got to play with confidence," said Spezza. "Its so hard when youre losing to play with confidence, but we started carrying the puck, we started making plays. If you play scared its a hard game to win and I think at times weve played scared not wanting to make mistakes. "If youre just worried about not making mistakes youre going to make them." The Senators ran into some bad luck in the third period when Mark Borowiecki, trying to clear the puck from in front, put it in his own net to give the Stars a 3-2 lead. "It teaches a little bit of humility," said Borowiecki. "I thought that was my strongest game in a Sens uniform. I felt pretty confident, but its just going to happen. A play like that you just want to shake it off." MacLean said he didnt think twice about putting Borowiecki back on the ice. "Stuff like that is going to happen," the Senators coach said. "We keep putting everybody else back on the ice when they make mistakes so we should do the same for him." This was the first of three games on the road for the Stars. Notes: Attendance was 18,106. ... D Eric Gryba and D Joe Corvo were healthy scratches for the Senators. SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres signed shortstop Ronny Cedeno to a minor league contract Saturday because All-Star Everth Cabrera is facing a 50 game suspension by Major League Baseball as part of its investigation of the Biogenesis drug clinic. Austin Rivers Clippers Jersey . "He was signed for that possibility, yes," general manager Josh Byrnes said. Cedeno was scheduled to be in the lineup for Double-A Lake Elsinore on Saturday night. Cabrera is among 14 players facing discipline in MLBs Biogenesis probe, and suspensions are expected Monday. The Padres are off Monday and begin a two-game series against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. The switch-hitting Cabrera leads the NL with 37 stolen bases. Last year, he led the NL with a career-high 44. Hes hitting .285 with four homer and 29 RBIs. "I think from Joshs standpoint that we have to make sure that were covered," manager Bud Black said. "I think Ive heard other managers echo this and other GMs. We dont know for sure really whats going to happen. But in case that happens, by the signing of Cedeno that gives us some coverage at shortstop if needed." The 30-year-old Cedeno, recently released by the Houston Astros, was hitting .220 with one homer and 12 RBIs. He struck out 42 times in 141 at-bats. Besides the Astros, Cedeno also has played for the Chicago Cubs, Seattle, Pittsburgh and the New York Mets. Wesley Johnson Clippers Jersey . 1 position. BALTIMORE -- Instead of blowing a lead, the San Diego Padres erased a deficit. Whats more, the comeback came against a guy who hadnt blown a save opportunity since last July. Chris Denorfia and Everth Cabrera hit two-out RBI singles off Jim Johnson in the ninth inning, and the Padres got a home run from Carlos Quentin in a 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. After the Orioles took a 2-1 lead in the eighth, Johnson (1-3) entered with a franchise-record streak of 35 straight converted saves. He immediately gave up two consecutive singles before getting Jedd Gyorko to hit into a 6-4-3 double play. But Denorfia followed with a single up the middle and, after Johnson hit Nick Hundley with a pitch, Cabrera singled to centre for a 3-2 lead. The win came after San Diego lost three straight in Tampa Bay, despite holding the lead in the fifth inning or later in each game. "To get to (Johnson) is a great accomplishment for us," Padres manager Bud Black said. "Those are great on the road, they really are, to snatch one back when they took the lead." Johnson hadnt blown a save opportunity since July 27, 2012, against Oakland. His streak of 35 broke the Orioles mark of 34, set in 1997 by Randy Myers. "I really didnt put a whole lot of stock into it," the right-hander said. "It was just something you guys like to talk about." He blamed his reversal of fortune on poor location. "As soon as I got off the field I looked, and pitches were in different spots than theyre normally at," Johnson said. "Its about execution. At this level the talent is too good. You have to execute and tonight I didnt and wasted a good effort from a lot of guys on this team." Cabreras hit was the 60,000th in Padres history. Luke Gregerson (2-2) got the last out in the eighth and Huston Street earned his ninth save. The Padres were 0-18 when trailing after eight innings. Street gave up a game-ending homer in the ninth against Tampa Bay on Saturday, so he was determined to make things right. "The one in Tampa frustrated me more than any save in my life," Street said. "I took a lot of responsibility for not making those pitches. It bugged me, so tonight was one I really wanted." He then said something that Johnson can take to heart. "You can come backk and get it done," Street said. Blake Griffin Jersey. "Thats what this game is all about. Its bouncing back. Its just moving on to the next day and making the next pitch. You make the next pitch and good things will happen." Ryan Flaherty homered for the Orioles, who fell to 18-2 when leading after eight. With the score tied at 1 in the eighth, Flaherty drew a one-out walk from Andrew Cashner and was replaced by pinch-runner Alexi Casilla. After Cashner threw to first base several times to check the runner, Casilla took off for second. The throw from Hundley came up short and bounced into the outfield, allowing Casilla to reach third on the error. Steve Pearce followed with a line-drive single to left to chase Cashner, who matched a career high by working 7 1-3 innings. Orioles starter Chris Tillman allowed one run, four hits and two walks in seven innings. Although the right-hander wasnt involved in the decision, he lowered his ERA to 3.40 and remained unbeaten since April 17. It was the first meeting between the teams since 2010 and first in Baltimore since 2002. The series is tied at 5. Quentin led off the second inning with a drive to left to put the Padres up 1-0. San Diego then loaded the bases with two outs before Tillman struck out Cabrera. Flaherty tied it in the third with an opposite-field fly that dropped into the front row of the left-field seats. It was only the second home run off Cashner in his five starts this season. In the sixth, Quentins bid for another home run was denied by centre fielder Adam Jones, who made a leaping catch at the top of the 7-foot wall. NOTES: The Orioles placed LHP Wei-Yin Chen (strained right oblique) on the 15-day disabled list and recalled RHP Alex Burnett and INF Yamaico Navarro from Triple-A Norfolk. ... MADRID - Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been banned for three Spanish league games for receiving a red card and then making a mocking gesture toward the match officials in a game at Athletic Bilbao. James Harden Rockets Jersey . The Portugal forward was shown a straight red for swiping his hand across the face of Bilbaos Carlos Gurpegis following a shove from his opponent in Sundays 1-1 league draw. The leagues disciplinary committee handed Ronaldo a one-game ban for the red card and two more games for his mocking gesture as he left the field. Ronaldo will miss league games against Villarreal, Getafe, and Elche. Ronaldo, however, is available to play in the Copa del Rey semifinal against Atletico Madrid, with the first leg being played on Wednesday. Clyde Drexler Rockets Jersey .J. Jefferson has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend. Robert Horry Jersey . In Europe, top teams seem to be largely happy with their squads after spending nearly $1 billion in the off-season. And although English league clubs are unlikely to splash cash in January, Arsenal and Chelsea could be tempted to strengthen their squads with new strikers. Chasing their first league title in 10 years, the Gunners are reportedly looking for a forward to add to France international Olivier Giroud, who ended a seven-match scoring drought with the winner at Newcastle on Sunday, ensuring that his club starts 2014 at the top. Although Giroud said Arsenal has sufficient attacking options for the remainder of the season with himself, Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hinted he could be tempted to sign a couple of new players. After failing to lure Luis Suarez, Wenger wont bid again for the Uruguay striker, who signed a new deal with Liverpool this month. "We are, as many clubs, certainly on alert. If something special turns up, we will not turn it down," Wenger said. "But we are not as well desperate because we have a big depth in our squad." Lagging two points behind Arsenal in the standings, Chelsea could also be looking for extra firepower after Samuel Etoo, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres scored only six goals between them in the league so far this season. With Ba, Juan Mata and Kevin De Bruyne possibly leaving, British media reported that Chelsea and Liverpool have held discussions about the possible arrival of Suarez at Stamford Bridge that could make up for Jose Mourinhos failure to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney in the off-season. While a Suarez move to Chelsea looks highly unlikely, Monaco forward Radamel Falcao is a more realistic target for Mourinho, with the Colombian reportedly unhappy in the French league. Xabi Alonso has also been linked with a move to the Blues. After a shaky start to the season, defending champion Manchester United haas managed to limit the damages with four consecutive wins and trails Arsenal by eight points going into the new year. Swingman James Harden Jersey. David Moyes has not been able to replace Paul Scholes and is in need of a creative midfielder. The Red Devils manager could make a 50 million pound ($82 million) offer for Everton marvel Ross Barkley. Avoiding the drop to the second-tier League Championship is crucial, with topflight teams boosted by increased revenues. And last-place Sunderland will beef up its defence with Marcos Alonso, who will join from Fiorentina until the end of the season. "Marcos is a player that I have known well for a very long time," Sunderland manager Gus Poyet said. "He was desperate to come and play for Sunderland and he is a player I am excited to work with." Staying among the elite is also vital for West Ham. The London club is languishing in 19th place after scoring only 18 goals in 19 matches and signed 18-year-old striker Jaanai Gordon from Peterborough. Everything looks relatively quiet in Spain, too. Barcelona seems more concerned with getting Lionel Messi healthy again for the second half of the season, and will probably be more than content to have its star forward playing at full speed again. The only possible big move would be Barcelona signing a replacement for goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who has said he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season. Atletico Madrid is reportedly reinforcing its title challenge by bringing in midfielder Jose Sosa from Metalist. In Germany, Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is expected to confirm in the coming days that he will be leaving for Bayern Munich at the end of the season, while AC Milan has already announced the arrivals of Adil Rami and Keisuke Honda. In France, winger Jeremy Menez is lacking playing time at Paris Saint-Germain and has been linked with a move to Juventus to boost his chances of making the trip to the World Cup in Brazil, and Bastia signed former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse on an 18-month deal. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
MADRID, Spain -- No Cristiano Ronaldo? No problem. Javier Mascherano Barcelona Jersey . Real Madrids title ambitions continue to gain credence, with the Spanish giant showing no dip despite missing the Ballon dOr winner. Ronaldo has one more league game to serve from a three-match ban, and cannot return before next weeks Champions League game at Schalke. No matter, as Madrid stretched its unbeaten run to 25 games in all competitions with a comprehensive 3-0 victory at Getafe on Sunday. With and without Ronaldo, Madrid under coach Carlo Ancelotti has looked the more consistent, well-balanced team following a poor start to the campaign, with co-Spanish leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid enduring erratic runs of late. Gareth Bale has excelled when not nagged by injuries, while players like Luka Modric, Karim Benzema and Jese Rodriguez have been standouts. "I think the key to our success is that the team is unified," fullback Dani Carvajal said on Monday. "Everyone is contributing to the smallest detail, whether they are playing little or a lot." Jese has scored in five of his last six games, and has been slotted instantly into the attack whenever Ronaldo or Bale have been out. Spanish media are already touting the Spain Under-21 standout for a place in world champion Spains squad despite the rich attacking talent that includes Alvaro Negredo, Fernando Llorente, Diego Costa, and Fernando Torres. "Im not surprised by his play because hes playing great matches and scoring," Ancelotti said. "Weve already said a lot of good things about him, I just hope he keeps up like this." Ancelottis arrival has been a major boost for Madrid following the bitter exit of Jose Mourinho, who left following his worst season as a coach when the Portuguese manager had more success in creating divisions within his own club than his opponents schemes. Ancelotti has brought order to one of the worlds most expensive and talented stock of players and egos, perhaps better than any other Madrid coach since Vicente del Bosque. "No one gets upset with him, he is very transparent. Hes the same person you see at his news conferences," Carvajal said. "Hes maintained harmony inside the team, while keeping us all on our toes. He never tries to create problems." Ancelotti has stuck with goalkeeper Diego Lopez over Iker Casillas, who has assumed Champions League and Copa del Rey duties. That seems to have squashed the controversy as Madrid reached the domestic cup final without Casillas conceding a single goal. "Ive got two great goalkeepers, so I dont know if the situation is fair or not," the Italian coach said, "but its been a good means to motivating them both." While Ronaldo will miss Saturdays match against Elche, his teammates will be looking forward to his return regardless of their run. "Hes a player that should always be in the lineup," Lopez said. "Were lucky that we have other players who can step in but you always note the absence of a player of Cristianos quality." Sandro Ramirez Jersey . WINNIPEG -- Glenn Howard played a game that was memorable for all the wrong reasons at the Canadian curling trials Tuesday night. The four-time world champion from Penetanguishene, Ont., allowed 2010 Olympic gold medallist Kevin Martin to score four in the ninth end in a 9-7 come-from-behind victory. "Thats the worse loss of my life, right there," said Howard, 51, whos also won four Briers. The victory lifted Martins record to 4-0, keeping the Edmonton skip as one of only two undefeated rinks at the trials, which will determine Canadas mens and womens teams at next years Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Howards rink drops to 1-3. Reigning Canadian champion Brad Jacobs from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., has also yet to lose a game after he beat Calgarys Kevin Koe 9-4. Koe is at the bottom of the field with a 0-4 record, while hometown favourite Jeff Stoughton is 1-3 following an 11-5 loss to B.C.s John Morris (3-1). Mike McEwen, Manitobas other mens rink, defeated Torontos John Epping 10-7. McEwen improved to 2-2 and Epping is 1-3. "Its just hard out there," Martin said after a game he described as making him feel "spent." "Its a very emotional day, and games. Every one so far, all four, have just been battles to the last inch." Just over 7,430 fans at the MTS Centre witnessed Howards defeat, which the veteran said came at the hands of some unpredictable ice. That was especially true in the ninth end, when Martin scored the deadly four points to move ahead 8-7. "(Second) Brent (Laing) missed a peel and then the ice got unbelievably straight in the last two or three ends," Howard explained. &qquot;I threw a real good shot in my last one in nine and for some reason it didnt curl. Neymar JR Jersey. I have no idea why. "I was happy with the way I let it go and it ends up being six to eight inches too much ice, which is unreal. Why? Why doesnt it curl there?" The killer in Koe and Jacobs game was the eighth end, when Jacobs was sitting four and Koe, the 2010 world champion, had the hammer and missed. The steal of four ended the match. Competitors have said this week its doubtful any team will go undefeated, and Jacobs was still believing that. "Obviously, anybody can beat anyone out there and its happening," said Jacobs, 28, who got his spot in Winnipeg out of the pre-trials event. "Everyone sees it, so real tough to go undefeated. I totally agree with that statement. Its virtually impossible, Id say, but there is a slight chance and right now were undefeated." Stoughton was discouraged after his loss, which included a bad fourth end. He flashed on his first throw and his second hit a Morris rock and then rolled out. That left Jim Cotter a draw to anywhere in the 12-foot for three and a 4-2 lead. Morris is skip, but throws third rocks. Stoughton looked mad at himself and briefly left the ice. He also failed to blank an end and then Morris went up 6-3 with a deuce in the sixth. "We need a lot of help, and thats too bad," said Stoughton, a 2011 world champion whos making his fifth and last try to get to an Olympics. "We had our fate in our own hands playing John because it would have brought everyone down to two losses and (then) youre basically in a playoff spot." Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
