CLEVELAND -- Minnesotas bullpen had been perfect for nearly a week. Womens North Face Denali Jacket Sale . Jared Burton couldnt hold a one-run lead in the eighth and Casey Fien gave up Drew Stubbs one-out double in the 10th as the Cleveland Indians beat the Twins 7-6 Friday night. Minnesotas three-run rally in the seventh that had put it ahead went for naught. "We had the lead and we got it to Burty and a couple of bloops fell in on him," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "And they end up tying the ball game back up after him. That hasnt happened to us all year." Chris Parmelees two-run homer in the seventh gave Minnesota a 6-5 lead. Minnesotas bullpen hadnt allowed a run since last Saturday and Josh Roenicke kept that streak going with a scoreless seventh, extending the relievers stretch to 11 2-3 innings without yielding a run. That good work all unraveled in the eighth, however. Burton, who had five holds on the season, allowed Mike Aviles leadoff single. After Jason Giambi flied out to deep centre, Stubbs blooper fell near the right-field line for a double and sent Aviles to third. After Michael Brantley was intentionally walked to load the bases, Kipnis hit a ground ball to the right side that second baseman Brian Dozier knocked down. Dozier could only get Kipnis at first as Aviles scored to tie it at 6-all. "Burton did a good job getting the ground ball. If we would have made the double play or not, I dont know. Kipnis runs well, you never know," Dozier said. Stubbs, who had four hits, drove a 1-0 pitch from Fien (1-2) off the wall in left-centre to give Cleveland its first five-game winning streak since winning seven in a row from April 26-May 3, 2011. Aviles started the rally with a leadoff single. Pinch-hitter Ezequiel Carrera, claimed off waivers from Philadelphia on Thursday, moved Aviles to second with a sacrifice. Stubbs, who had two singles and two doubles, then drove in the game-winner. Chris Perez (1-0) pitched a scoreless 10th for Cleveland. Parmalees two-run homer in the seventh capped Minnesotas three-run rally, wiping out a 5-3 deficit, but Jason Kipnis tied the score in the eighth with a run-scoring grounder, his fourth RBI of the game. Parmalees two-out blast came off reliever Cody Allen and gave Minnesota a 6-5 lead. Minnesota trailed by two going into the seventh against Justin Masterson, who retired the first two hitters. Justin Morneau singled and took second on a passed ball by Yan Gomes. Ryan Doumit slapped a single on a 3-2 pitch through the left side that scored Morneau to make it 5-4. Parmalee hit a 2-2 pitch to right that cleared the wall despite a leaping attempt by Raburn, for his third homer of the season to put the Twins ahead 6-5. "It was a big home run at the time for us. Unfortunately, we couldnt finish it off but it was a big home run. Hes been swinging very good," Gardenhire said. Trevor Plouffe also hit a solo homer in the second. Rookie centre fielder Aaron Hicks went hitless in three at-bats, dropping his average to .115. "Our goal is to leave him here. We want him here," Gardenhire said. "We think this kid is gonna be a real good one, and were going to let him play for a while and see what happens." Twins starter Pedro Hernandez, who recorded his first career win over Texas in his last start, gave up five runs in 5 1-3 innings Mark Reynolds hit a two-run homer in the fifth for Cleveland that broke a 3-3 tie. Kipnis also had a two-run double in the third and a drove in another run with a bunt single in the sixth. Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer had one hit in five at-bats, his second straight game with a hit after enduring the longest hitless streak of his career (21 at-bats). NOTES: Morneau has 104 RBIs in 134 career games against the Indians. He also drove in his 800th career run, making him only the fifth player in Twins history to reach that mark. Harmon Killebrew, Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett and Tony Oliva are the others. ... Hernandez committed a balk in the fifth -- the first by a Twins pitcher this season. ... OF Michael Bourn (lacerated right index) finger took part in running drills and could start a minor-league rehabilitation assignment in a few days. ... The series continues Saturday afternoon when the Twins send RHP Kevin Correia (3-1) to the mound against LHP Scott Kazmir (0-1). North Face Womens Denali Hoodie Jacket . -- The St. Johns IceCaps weathered a wild first period with the help of goaltender Jussi Olkinuora, before finding offensive inroads in the second. Discount North Face Jackets . Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca! Hi Kerry, Its another day and here we are looking at another dubious hit to the head. In this case Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky elbowed Saku Koivu in the head about a second after he dished off the puck to a teammate, knocking him unconscious.  This week we learned that there will be no supplementary discipline handed out to Dubinsky. This seems strange to me given that we are trying to get head shots out of the game, and John Scott has just been suspended indefinitely for a very similar type of play. Can you provide any insight on the thinking that goes on in deciding not to suspend Dubinsky in this case?  It makes absolutely no sense to me.  Thanks! Kevin Head Kevin: There was vast discrepancy in the reporting and analysis from one team broadcast feed to the other following Brandon Dubinskys hit on Saku Koivu.  The Blue Jackets viewing audience would have believed that no penalty was warranted to Dubinsky on the play as their broadcasters analyzed multiple replays with comments such as, "Is the head targeted?; Thats a good hit; all Dubinsky did was brace before the hit because Koivu was going to him with (as) the aggressor; There was no elbow up - no targeting the head; That was a good hockey play; No targeting of the head whatsoever!" Analysis from the Anaheim broadcast team offered a totally different description and perception of the play. Duck fans probably anticipated a suspension would result to Brandon Dubinsky once they heard, "Oh boy that is a brutal elbow from Brandon Dubinsky, thats right on the jaw of Saku Koivu. You see the head of Saku Koivu snap back. Im sure the people in Toronto will be taking a look at that." While the vantage point the two broadcast teams shared in the press box is relatively close in proximity to one another, their respective analysis of this play could not be farther apart. Is this just a result of team loyalty and bias that we might expect in some measure or are we really this far apart on the subject of judging and eliminating contact to the head? Have we become too desensitized to violent hits or those where the head is the main point of contact hoping against all hope that the "physicality" of the game is not lost due to player suspensions? This illustration moves beyond the broadcast booth to all elements of the hockey world with varying opinions on determining illegal hits to the head; including those shared by the Player Safety Committee. The Hockey Operations Department and the Player Safety Committeee review every play that has the potential for player suspension. North Face Jacket Womens Sale. I am the first to admit they have a very tough and thankless job. Kevin, part of the criteria used to determine an illegal check to the head is published in Rule 48 which the Player Safety Committee must adhere to when judging a potential suspension. In this case they would reference the following from rRule 48 to make their determination:  i) Whether the player attempted to hit squarely through the opponents body and the head was not "picked  (Brandon Dubinsky is square to Saku Koivu and therefore this is not a "head pick" by definition of the rule.) ii) Whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full body check unavoidable. (Saku exposed himself somewhat for a square hit after making the pass but did attempt to bring his stick up to defend just prior to frontal impact from Dubinsky) The timing of the hit would be another element that the Player Safety Committee would examine. I have to say that although interference was ultimately assessed by the Refs on the ice the contact was not unusually late or even out of the ordinary for the finish of a check in terms of the standard we have seen for supplemental discipline. We may not like the end result, but that is the most probable answer to your question why Brandon Dubinsky was not suspended for his hit to Saku Koivu. The Player Safety Committee stayed within the language of the rule and the current guidelines that have been established. I understand the current parameters being utilized by the PSC but I am jumping into the broadcast booth down the hall to voice my differing opinion. For the sake of "player safety" the criteria must change in an effort to alter current and dangerous player tendencies that are causing the train to run off the rails. I for one want to see a player suspended every time he elevates his posture upward and makes the head of his opponent the main point of contact no matter if the attack angle is squarely through an opponents body or even if that player put himself in a vulnerable position. Brandon Dubinsky, as we see on most dangerous contact, elevated through the hit and continued to elevate with an upward extension of his elbow after contact was made to the head of Saku Koivu. Further evidence of this elevation is often seen when a players skate(s) leave the ice after contact which is often deemed a "good hockey play." My criteria would be "upward to the head" and "outward" for two games minimum! That of course, would depend on which side of the broadcast booth you are sitting in. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
PHILADELPHIA -- John Wall had his long-distance game working on Wednesday night. Craig Conroy Jersey . Wall scored 24 points on a career-best five 3-pointers, Marcin Gortat had 19 points and 12 rebounds, and the Washington Wizards beat the Philadelphia 76ers 116-102. Bradley Beal had 17 points, Trevor Ariza scored 15 as seven Wizards reached double digits to help Washington earn its first win after starting 0-3. Walls shooting was the big surprise. The former No. 1 overall pick has a career shooting rate of 24.4 per cent beyond the arc. He made only three 3s in his entire sophomore season in 2011-12 and had 12 last season. "He might keep bombing 3s now," Beal joked. The Wizards set a franchise record with 18 3-pointers on 33 attempts. Wall was more impressed with the team getting its first win than his effort. "Theyre a great competitive team, and I like how they play as a young team," Wall said. "They dont give up. They definitely keep fighting until the end." Evan Turner led Philadelphia with 24 points and Spencer Hawes had 13. Rookie Michael Carter-Williams finished with 19 points, seven assists and five rebounds. After a surprising 3-0 start, the Sixers have lost two straight and are starting to play like the team that oddsmakers predicted would win less than 17 games this season. The Sixers sandwiched wins over Miami and Chicago with a comeback win at Washington last week. They overcame a 12-point, third-quarter deficit to beat the Wizards 109-102 and spoil their home opener on Friday. "They were a desperate team trying to find a win against a team that beat them five days ago," Sixers rookie coach Brett Brown said. "We made some not-so smart plays. I give them credit." The Wizards led this one from the opening basket and never let up. They had a 15-point lead midway through the first quarter after Beal hit his third 3-pointer in three tries, and took a 60-51 lead into halftime. The Sixers got close in the third following an 11-3 run. Turner started it with a pull-up jumper and he hit another jumper and 3-pointer during the stretch. Hawes layup cut it to 71-67, but Wall answered with a 3, and Gortat and Nene scored on tip-ins to extend the lead to 78-67. Beals jumper to start the fourth put the Wizards up by 15 and they led by double digits the rest of the way. "We withstood some stretches and we didnt succumb," Wizards coach Randy Wittman said. "We didnt put our heads down. We sustained. I didnt see any guys down." The fast start had Sixers fans feeling a bit perplexed. Many are hoping for the team to lose so they could end up with the No. 1 overall pick so they could draft Kansas prospect Andrew Wiggins. But Brown and his team generated some early excitement so that created a dilemma for some fans who wanted the team to go winless for Wiggins. Opponents certainly are showing the Sixers respect. Beal called them a "good" team, a compliment no one wouldve expected. "When we play like this, we showed we can beat good teams," Beal said. "We know theyre a comeback team and we did a good job." NOTES: The 18 3s tied a floor record. Seattle had 18 at the Wells Fargo Center on Nov. 16, 2004. ... Philadelphias Daniel Orton left the game because of right knee soreness. JOHNS, N.ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Its been obvious for quite some time that the Los Angeles Angels werent going to the playoffs. Now its official. The Angels beat Seattle 6-5 Saturday night for their 21st victory in 28 games, but this surge came way too late. Earlier in the day, they were mathematically eliminated from post-season contention. After starting the year with big expectations, boosted by the winter signing of former MVP Josh Hamilton, the injury-plagued Angels didnt spend one day atop the AL West after winning their season opener at Cincinnati. The Angels have been no fewer than nine games out of first place since the All-Star break. This is their fourth straight year without a post-season berth, after winning five division titles. "I think the one word that still lingers out of all this clubhouse and how we all feel is certainly frustration," manager Mike Scioscia said. "I dont think theres been any way to sugarcoat it. Its obviously not a good feeling when you dont accomplish your goal. "Theres been some nonperformance on our club, some injuries and some depth issues. But I think weve gone a long way in the past month to show the kind of baseball we can play, particularly on the pitching side. Hopefully well temper that frustration and finish strong," he said. Collin Cowgill homered and also stole home for the Angels. Rookie Grant Green hit a three-run double to help Jerome Williams win his fourth straight start. Cowgill walked and scored in the second inning and hit a solo homer in the fourth. He tripled to open the seventh, then broke for the plate as Andrew Romine squared around to try a suicide-squeeze bunt, and scored when left-hander Joe Saunders pitch sailed to the backstop. Williams (9-10) allowed one run, five hits and five walks in 5 2-3 innings. He left after No. 9 hitter Henry Blanco snapped an 0-for-32 drought with a bloop single. "I always want to go out there and do my best," he said. "Ive had a couple of rough stretches, and now I just want to finish strong and end this season on aa good note. Al MacInnis Flames Jersey. Ibanez and Ted Williams are the only players to hit 29 home runs during the season in which they were 41 years old. "I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to be in this situation," Ibanez said. "Anytime youre in the company of the great Ted Williams -- and its just this one thing that I have in common with him -- its a great blessing. I read his book when I was in high school, and he was the greatest hitter that ever lived." What made this milestone even sweeter for Ibanez was that it came with the Mariners, the team he began his big league career with in 1996. This is his third stint with the club. "Ive always considered myself a Mariner," said the 17-year veteran, who hit a career-high 34 homers in 2009 with Philadelphia. "This is the organization that first game me the opportunity. So to do this in a Mariners uniform, I feel very fortunate." Saunders (11-16) tied the Astros Lucas Harrell and the Cubs Edwin Jackson for the most losses in the majors. Saunders gave up six runs and six hits over seven innings and tied a career best with nine strikeouts. The 32-year-old left-hander threw 125 pitches, one short of his career high. Abraham Almonte scored Seattles second run on a seventh-inning balk by rookie Cory Rasmus. NOTES: Last year, the Angels post-season hopes ended with two games left on the schedule. ... LHP C.J. MEMPHIS, Tenn. Evgeny Svechnikov Red Wings Jersey . -- Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale searched more than three quarters for five guys who would play well together. He almost ran out of time. But early in the fourth quarter, McHale finally hit the jackpot and the Rockets roared past the Memphis Grizzlies for a 93-86 road victory. Chandler Parsons scored 17 points and Omri Casspi added 16 as the Rockets (10-5) won for the fifth time in six games. Houston outscored Memphis 38-23 in the fourth quarter, with Parsons and Casspi combining for 20 of those points. "We just kept on trying to find a lineup that would really click," McHale said. "And that last lineup we had there did a great job." Houston trailed for most of the night and its 93 points were a season low, but the Rockets made a 14-2 run early in the fourth quarter, pushing ahead 67-65 on a pair free throws by Casspi with 8:26 remaining. The Rockets played without All-Star guard James Harden, who missed his second straight game with a sore left foot. It was the Grizzlies first full game since 7-foot-1 centre Marc Gasol was lost indefinitely to a sprained MCL in his left knee. Memphis (7-7) had a 46-32 lead early in the third quarter, but couldnt hold it down the stretch. "We had a great game plan and we did it for three quarters," Allen said. "They just turned into a whole different team once they set their starters down. Those guys penetrated the basketball, got into our soft spot. They made plays -- Casspi was a difference-maker." Tayshaun Prince led Memphis with 16 points. Allen added 15. Houstons offence was missing a considerable chunk of its scoring without Harden, who is averaging 24.2 points per game. The Rockets had a miserable offensive first half without him, turning the ball over 11 times and shooting just 11 of 32 from the field (34.4 per cent), including 1 of 11 (9.1 per cent) from 3-point range. The Grizzlies closed the second quarter on a 15-6 run to take a 44-32 halftime lead. Houston finally found some rhythm in the second half, hitting five 3-pointers after starting 1 of 14 from behind the arc. The bench was key in the run, with Francisco Garcia hitting a 3-pointer to tie it at 65 -- pumping his fist and screaming as he went back on defence. Casspi scored 11 points in the fourth quarter while Parsons had nine. It was a hodgepodge lineup for most of the fourth quarter, with McHale leaning on Beverly, Garcia, Parsons, Casspi and Omer Asik. But it worked. "When we move the ball and share the ball together, we are tough," Casspi said. Parsons shot 8 of 9 from the field. The Rockets shot 23 of 37 (62 per cent) in the second half. "Tonight was ugly and we didnt do a lot of things right," Parsons said. "But we trust our coaches, we trust our offence and we continued to run it." Memphis coach Dave Joerger says his teams offence will change considerably with Gasol out of the lineup. And at least for one night, it changed for the worse. Gasol said pregame he expects to be on crutches for three to four weeks before he can even start work on his return. Kosta Koufos started in place of Gasol and had a productive night, with eight points and a season-high 13 rebounds. But Mike Conley, the Grizzlies leading scorer with more than 19 points per game, had a tough night, shooting just 2 of 14 from the field and finishing with 10 points and 10 assists. Memphis had won five straight over Houston at FedExForum dating back nearly three years before Mondays loss. NOTES: Memphis Jon Leuer and Nick Calathes saw extensive playing time in the first half. Leuer had notched five straight DNPs before facing Houston while Calathes had DNPs in four of his last five. Both finished with four points. ... Memphis Randolph had his streak of five straight double-doubles snapped. ... Houstons Howard was called for a technical foul early in the first half after a short argument with an official following a foul call. ... Houstons reserves scored 27 points, led by Casspis 16. ... Asik has been buried on the bench for most of the past month, but chipped in with two points and 10 rebounds over 21 minutes against the Grizzlies. Guy Lapointe Canadiens Jersey . CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Al Jefferson sat at his locker pondering how the Charlotte Bobcats nearly surrendered a 30-point lead they held late in the third quarter. "Of course we had to make it a game," Jefferson said with a grin. "We couldnt enjoy an easy win, right?" It never seems that easy for the Bobcats. Despite the big lead, Jefferson and Bobcats didnt breathe a sigh of relief until Ramon Sessions knocked down two free throws with 1.6 seconds left to secure a 100-95 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Monday. Jefferson became the first Bobcats player to record a double-double in the first quarter and finished with 22 points, 19 rebounds and a season-high seven assists and the Bobcats defeated the Raptors for the seventh straight time in Charlotte. "The important thing is we came out of it with a win," Jefferson said after the Bobcats withstood a furious Toronto rally that included several 3-pointers. It was Charlottes first game without point guard Kemba Walker, whose streak of 190 straight games played -- the second-longest in franchise history -- was snapped. Walker sprained his ankle in a loss Saturday night to the Miami Heat. But the Bobcats got more than enough from their two reserve point guards as Sessions and the seldom-used Jannero Pargo combined for 40 points on 10 of 17 shooting. Sessions started and had 23 points in 34 minutes and was 10 of 11 from the line. "We knew they were going to make a run sooner or later, especially with how good theyve been playing," Sessions said. "We didnt expect it to be that big of a run." DeMar DeRozan had 25 points and Kyle Lowry had 21 for the Atlantic Division-leading Raptors, who fell to .500 after their fourth straight road loss. The Raptors were down 71-41 with 4:37 left in the third quarter when they started to find some energy. They outscored the Bobcats 28-0 on second-chance points, but it still wasnt enough. Toronto twice had chances to tie the game in the final two minutes, but Lowry missed a free throw and Greivis Vasquez couldnt connect on a long 3-pointer. "To be a championship team or even think about the playoffs, youve got to play back-to-back, you have to play nicked up, youve got to play a little fatigued," Raptors coach Dwwane Casey said. Chris Kunitz Penguins Jersey. "Right now, we have a bunch of guys who are giving into fatigue and nicked up. Its a long season, but, again, you tell a lot about who you are in these situations. "This was a gut-check game. In the fourth quarter, we turned it around. But its about what we did in the first three quarters that was disappointing." Despite nearly surrendering a huge lead, Bobcats coach Steve Clifford called it a "big win" for his team with Walker out of the lineup. Jefferson, who came in averaging 27.8 points and 11.5 rebounds for his previous four games, had 14 points and 12 rebounds in the first half as the Bobcats went up 55-36. But the Raptors began double teaming Jefferson in the third quarter with Chuck Hayes the primary defender. "Chuck and I are great friends, but I hate him as a defender," Jefferson said. "Hes one of those guys thats very smart and you cant move him." Things got hairy for the Bobcats when DeRozan stripped Jefferson and went the length of the floor for an uncontested layup to trim the lead to three with 2:33 left. With 26 seconds left, Lowry drove the lane, scored and drew a foul on Jefferson to cut the lead to one. But he missed the free throw that would have tied the game. Sessions hit two free throws to push the lead back to three. Vasquez, who finished with 15 points and nine assists in his best game as a Raptor, got an open look from the right corner on the next possession but missed a 3-pointer from the right corner. Walker is expected to miss about two weeks after spraining his ankle in Saturday nights loss to Miami. He had 29 points against the Raptors on Dec. 18, including a buzzer beater in a 104-102 victory. But Sessions and Pargo provided a great spark. Sessions had nine points in the first quarter and Pargo came off the bench to hit his first three shots, including two 3-pointers, in his first four minutes of play in the second quarter. NOTES: The 36 points in the first half were the fewest allowed by the Bobcats all season -- they held the Raptors to 33 per cent shooting. ... Jefferson posted his third straight game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds. .. .Charlotte has won nine of its past 14 against Toronto. .. Toronto attempted 29 3-pointers. MELBOURNE, Australia -- Forward Jack Gunston kicked four goals as the Hawthorn Hawks beat the Fremantle Dockers 11. Shkodran Mustafi Jersey .11 (77) to 8.14 (62) on Saturday to win the Australian Football League championship for the 11th time at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Hawthorn led 5.5 (35) to 1.6 (12) after a fast-paced but low-scoring first half - the first since 1960 to see only six goals scored. Playing in their first-ever Grand Final, Fremantle narrowed Hawthorns lead to 6.5 (41) to 5.8 (38) midway through the third quarter, but late goals by Luke Breust and Bradley Hill allowed the Hawks to hold on and to claim their first AFL title since 2008. Hawthorn were top qualifiers after the regular season and were playing in the Grand Final for the third time in six years. Their end-to-end win -- Gunston kicked the opening goal after 3 minutes, 39 seconds -- allowed them to finally shed a reputation as under-achievers after their upset, 10-point loss to Sydney in last years grand final and their three-point loss to Collingwood in the 2011 preliminary final. They remain the only club to have won at least one premiership per decade since the 1960s, accumulating 11 titles since 1961. A total of 10 Hawthorn players became two-time premiership winners, including Shaun Burgoyne, who won with Port Adelaide in 2004 and superstar Lance Franklin, who kicked one goal in the first quarter in another quiet match. Coach Ross Lyon, who led Fremantle into the premiership decider for the first time in their 19-year history, remained without a win in four Grand Finals. He guided St. Kilda to the premiership deciders in 2009 and 2010, when a replay was needed to find the champion. Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson won the premiership for the second time in his nine-year reign. Gunstons three first-half goals were crucial in a close-fought match, in which Fremantle didnt kick their first goal -- through Tendai Mzungu -- until the 12th minute of the second quarter. By that stage Hawthorn had four goals and Gunston strengthened their position when he followed Mzungus major with his third goal. In a match which was occasionally made scrappy by wet conditions, Fremantle dominated the ruck in the first half through Aaron Sandilands without turning possession into points. Midfielders David Mundy, Nathan Fyfe, Michael Barlow and Stephen Hill led Fremantles strong start to the third quarter when it kicked five of the first seven goals. But Fremantle paid for their inaccuracy, putting four shots out on the full and wasting late chances by kicking 2.4 in the final quarter. Brian Lake won the Norm Smith Medal as the best afield, claiming his first premiership medal after losing three preliminary finals with the Western Bulldogs. Jordan Lewis, Josh Gibson, Grant Brichall and Cyril Rioli, who laid seven tackles, were also prominent for Hawthorn while Fremantle tagger Ryan Crowley kept Sam Mitchell to just 12 touches. Mats Hummels Jersey . COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Seung-Yul Noh shot a 6-under 65 in cool, breezy conditions Friday to take a two-stroke lead in the Nationwide Childrens Hospital Championship. Noh had a 9-under 133 total on Ohio States Scarlet Course in the third of four events in the Web.com Tour Finals series. Two players were unable to finish the second round because of darkness after a long rain delay Thursday pushed back play. "The course was very difficult today because of the wind," said Noh, who hit 16 of 18 greens in regulation in his bogey-free round. "It was tough to control irons and the putting was also difficult. Today everything went perfect and I was making some putts." The bulk of the field is made up of players in the top 75 on the Web.com Tour money list and Nos. 126-200 in the PGA Tours FedEx Cup standings. The top 25 on the Web.com regular-season money list are assured PGA Tour cards for the 2013-14 season, while the other players are fighting for 25 additional cards through earnings in the finals. The series money leader will be fully exempt and earn a spot in The Players Championship. The 22-year-old Noh, from South Korea, was 160th in the FedEx Cup standings. He opened the Web.com series with a tie for seventh in Fort Wayne, Ind., and mmissed the cut last week in Davidson, N. Joshua Kimmich Germany Jersey. C. "I struggled the first three or four months this year after the equipment change," Noh said. "I had used Titleist for eight years and switched to Nike. I really didnt feel comfortable until early May. I changed golf balls three times this year and I tried about 15 putters." Chesson Hadley was second after a 67. Hes playing for a top priority ranking after finishing third on the Web.com regular-season money list to wrap up a PGA Tour card. The former Georgia Tech player won the Rex Hospital Open in June. "It was nasty out there today, especially at the start," Hadley said. "I was just extra patient all day today because I knew par was a good score with these conditions. I got a good draw with the tee times because I knew it was cold and windy this morning." Kelly Kraft was third at 5 under after a 69. First-round leader Jim Herman followed his opening 64 with a 75 to drop into a tie for ninth at 3 under. Andrew Svoboda, the Chiquita Classic winner last week, was tied for 17th at 1 under after a 73. Trevor Immelman, the winner of the series-opening Hotel Fitness Championship, missed the cut for the second consecutive week. He shot 77-70. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
LOS ANGELES, Calif. http://www.sportingkansascitymlsshop.com/Authentic-Jacob-Peterson-Jersey/ . - Raymond Floyd is returning to the Ryder Cup as an assistant captain for the second time in the past three matches. U.S. captain Tom Watson said Tuesday that Floyd would be one of his assistants. The Ryder Cup will be played Sept. 26-28 at Gleneagles and Scotland. The Americans have not won the cup since 2008 — Floyd was an assistant on that team. They have not won on European soil since 1993. Watson previously said Andy North would be an assistant. Floyd was the Ryder Cup captain in 1989 when Europe retained the cup with a tie. Watson was on that 89 team. Watson was captain in 1993 and took Floyd as one of his wild-card picks. JOHNS, N. JOLIET, Ill. -- Jeff Gordon was added to the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship Friday when NASCAR chairman Brian France used his power to make an unprecedented expansion to the field after two separate investigations into radio chatter revealed numerous instances of race manipulation. France determined Gordon did not have a fair chance to race his way into the 12-driver field last Saturday night at Richmond because of the actions of at least three organizations over the closing laps at Richmond. The four-time NASCAR champion was bumped from eligibility by Joey Logano, who unknowingly received assistance from two Michael Waltrip Racing drivers trying to aid their teammate. Logano also picked up another track position when David Gilliland apparently moved aside when Gillilands team tried to bargain with Penske Racing over the radio. "Too many things altered the event and gave an unfair disadvantage to Jeff and his team," France said. "More than anything its just the right thing to do. There were just too many things that went on Saturday night." It was a stunning conclusion to a surreal week for NASCAR, which should have been celebrating Sundays start of the Chase at Chicagoland Speedway. Instead, the sanctioning body has been scrambling to uncover who did what and why since Clint Bowyer spun his car with seven laps remaining at Richmond as 10 drivers jockeyed for the five available spots in the Chase. NASCAR acted quickly in disciplining MWR on Monday night, then learned Wednesday of a second apparent problem involving Penske and Front Row Motorsports, which appeared to ask for a deal if Gilliland moved over for Logano. Logano did get by Gilliland, who then seemed to slow down by at least 1 mph, according to an Associated Press review of radio communications and data. France said NASCAR could not determine there was ever a deal between Front Row and Penske, but that putting Gordon in the Chase and placing Penske and Front Row on probation for the rest of the season was necessary to protect the integrity of the series. Gordon, the four-time champion, now joins Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson, the five-time champion, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kasey Kahne in the Chase. "Its been a roller coaster ride of emotions this week. Unprecedented set of circumstances," Gordon said. "Im extremely happy for this. Were proud to be in it. An incredible set of opportunities now lie on our shoulders to show we belong in the Chase." Gordon goes into the Chase as the 13th seed, 15 points behind leader Matt Kenseth. Owner Rick Hendrick was pleased with the ruling. "I applaud NASCAR for taking the time for a full review," he said in a statement. "Were extremely proud to have all four cars in the Chase for the second consecutive season. Jeff and the No. 24 team earned this spot." Johnson was happy for his teammate but not thrilled to have an additional driver to race for the title. "I believe there should be 12 cars. One in and one out should be the deal," he said. Trading favours on and off the track is common in NASCAR, but the series had to investigate the Penske and Front Row bargaining allegation following tthe embarrassment of Michael Waltrip Racings attempt to manipulate the outcome of the race to benefit Martin Truex Jr.http://www.sportingkansascitymlsshop.com/Authentic-Amobi-Okugo-Jersey/. NASCAR on Monday punished the MWR organization for its shenanigans over the final seven laps and pulled Truex out of the Chase in favour of Ryan Newman. Truex, in his first comments since he was knocked out of the Chase on Monday, said its been a surreal week. An unwitting victim of his teammates efforts to help him, he lost his Chase bid after driving the last two weeks with two broken bones in his wrist and a cast on his right arm. "All I did the last two weeks was drive my heart out," he said Friday. "I went from feeling like I really climbed a mountain in that race at Richmond to going to be knocked out of the Chase." Truex wasnt pleased with NASCARs decision to add Gordon to the Chase. "Im not even sure what to say at this point. Im kind of at a loss for words," Truex said. "How they make a spot for somebody -- they kick me out to make a spot for somebody and then they dont do the same for the other guys? Its just unfair and nothing I can do about it." Truex is out as punishment for his teammates working so hard to help him get in, and NASCAR will hold a mandatory team and driver meeting Saturday to clarify "the rules of the road" moving forward. France would not specify what wont be tolerated going forward. "Obviously we drew a line with the penalties with Michael Waltrip Racing," France said. "Were going to make sure that we have the right rules going forward, so that the integrity of the competitive landscape of the events are not altered in a way or manipulated." The entire mess began a mere seven laps from the finish Saturday night with Newman en route to a victory that would have given him the final spot in the Chase. MWR driver Clint Bowyer spun, bringing out a caution and setting in motion a chain of events that cost Newman the win and a Chase berth. It also cost Gordon a Chase berth and put Truex and Logano into the final two spots. It later became clear that Bowyers spin was deliberate -- although NASCAR has said it cant prove that -- and that Bowyer and teammate Brian Vickers allowed Logano to gain late finishing positions to bump Gordon out of the Chase to aid Truex. Among the penalties levied against MWR was a $300,000 fine and the indefinite suspension of general manager Ty Norris. Bowyer, Truex and Brian Vickers were docked 50 points each, and their crew chiefs were placed on probation through the end of the year. Bowyer has denied the spin was deliberate. NASCAR could only prove one action -- radio communication between Norris and Vickers in which a confused Vickers was told to pit as the field went green with three laps to go. Once NASCAR singled out that action, a Pandoras box was opened and the apparent bargaining between Penske and Front Row became dicey. And Gordons anger began to grow. Gordon said he felt that Bowyer also deserved to be punished for giving up late track position, just as Vickers did, and he called NASCARs penalties "half right." And now hes in the Chase with Bowyer -- but only after the second controversy. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn. Claudio Marchisio Youth Jersey .ca! Hey Kerry, Just had a quick question about the Monday night game between the Bruins and the Leafs. With about five minutes remaining, the Bruins had iced the puck and instead of keeping the current line on the ice, attempted to put Chara into the next shift. This took some time for the referees to realize and they eventually sent Chara back to the bench and Andrew Ference had to get back on. This seemed like an obvious delay of game and gave the Bruins a much-needed breather. Could this have been called delay of game and if not, why isnt this a penalty? Sincerely,Ryan DAlessioCornwall, Ontario Hi Ryan, A team often attempts to make a line change when the puck is dumped up ice from their defending zone. Once a potential icing is in effect, the back referee and linesman will do a quick inventory of the offending team players that were on the ice at the time the puck was shot and rush to the vicinity of the bench to prevent a change of players once the icing has been completed. (Rules 81.4 and 82.1 specifies no line change following an icing infraction.)  As players hustle to the bench, there are occasions where a physical change can be completed prior to the touchup and whistle. It is then the responsibility of the referee who was positioned in the defending zone from where the icing originated, with assistance from the linesman, to send the fresh legs back to the bench and retrieve the player(s) that were on the ice at the time of the icing infraction. The official scorer can be consulted and provide a list of players to the referee whenever there is uncertainty as to which were players were physically on the ice at the moment the puck was shot to initiate icing. Any delay caused through the process of making sure the correct players are placed on the ice while necessary, also compromises the spirit and integrity of the rule. This can certainly become a ploy on the part of a coach to gain added breather time by sending or leaving a player on the ice that might have jumped on prior to or just after the whistle. Given all the intensity and potential infractions that take place in a playoff game (some called, some missed, some let go), the referee is never quick to assess a delay of game penalty to a team guilty of a minor stall tactic on an icing infraction. In the grand scheme of things, it would have to take an act of utter defiance by a coach or player during the course of a game before a delay of game penalty would be assessed. Let me give you an example. While it didnt occur in a playoff game or in the last five minutes of regulation time, I assessed a bench minor for delay of game to coach Bob Hartley for his utter defiance of my orders not to make a line change. I made the call during the first period of the very first NHL game that I refereed with him as the bench boss for the Colorado Avalanche. The bench minor set the tone for a professional relationship based on a spirit of cooperation that I enjoyed with Hartley from that moment on. Whenever I was the referee that was responsible for controlling line changes, I would position myself in front of the visiting team bench to make eye contact with the coach and even verbally ask him if he had completed his change to avoid any confusion. I did this on the play in question and received a head nod and affirmative response from Hartley that he had made his line change. I then raised my arm toward the Avalanche bench, preventing any further change and turned to the home team coach, allowing him to make his line change. Upon seeing the opposing team players take the ice, Hartley decided that he didnt like his matchup and sent one defenceman over the boards. I blew my whistle and waved the player back. The defenceman turned to look at Hartley, who waved his player to continue forward and assume his position while the coach continued to look directly at me. The player knew enough not to defy his new coachs instructions but the rookie coach didnt yet realize it was a bad idea to defy a veteran referees authority. I blew my whistle and immediately assessed a bench minor to the coach for delay of game. I then informed the coach he could make a line change! When the period ended Hartley, in one final attempt at asserting himself, called me over to his bench to continue the debate. With assistant coach Jacques Cloutier standing beside the head coach, Bob told me the only reason I gave him the bench penalty was because he was a rookie coach in the NHL and I didnt respect him. Bob finished by saying that if Scotty Bowman did the same thing, I never would have penalized him. I assured Hartley if Scotty Bowman or any other NHL coach deliberately defied me the way that he had done, a bench penalty would be assessed! I then pointed to Jacques Cloutier, whom I had known for years, and told Bob if he didnt believe me, to just ask his assistant coach. From that moment on, Hartley clearly understood that when I raised my hand on a line change in his direction, it meant no more changes and Bob most respectfully complied. In these Stanley Cup Playoffs, dont expect a quick response from the refs to assess a bench minor for any minor stall tactics when making a line change.   Gianluigi Buffon Juventus Jersey . - Connor McDavid scored 53 seconds into overtime as the Erie Otters came from behind to defeat the visiting Guelph Storm 4-3 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action. Andrea Pirlo Jersey .J. -- Josh Cribbs was in the Pro Bowl in February and out of a job six months later. http://www.soccerjuventusproshop.com/kids-roberto-pereyra-juventus-jersey/ . You can watch the game live on TSN at 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt. The Leafs and Sabres have split the four previous meetings, with each club winning twice at home. The previous two encounters have both gone past regulation, with Buffalo recording an overtime victory on Nov. 29 nearly a month prior to Torontos 4-3 shootout triumph on Dec 27. Overall, the teams have split their past 20 meetings, with the Maple Leafs winning three in a row and nine of the last 11 played in Toronto. The Leafs are looking for a third straight victory tonight after holding off the Boston Bruins 4-3 on Tuesday. Tyler Bozak scored twice and added an assist, while Jonathan Bernier made 14 of his 38 saves in the third period. James van Riemsdyk had a goal and an assist, Jake Gardiner scored and Phil Kessel tallied three helpers as Toronto has won back-to-back contests following a four-game slide. "Well weve been giving a better effort thats for sure," said Toronto head coach Randy Carlyle. "Weve raised our compete level and were going to have to continue to do that to get points. Thats the most frustrating part for our hockey club has been that we havent been able to achieve that with any consistency. Thats frustrating for the coaching staff, thats for sure." Carlyle is likely to give James Reimer the start in net tonight. He is 1-0-1 against the Sabres this season, allowing five goals on 64 shots faced, and is 6-2-2 against them lifetime with a 3.27 goals against average. However, Jonathan Bernier picked up a victory for the Leafs and has started nine of the Leafs last ten games. Bernier is 1-1 against the SSabres this season, including a the shootout victory on December 27, when Bernier stopped all three shootout attempts he faced. Sean Monahan Jersey. Tied at 1-1 going into the third period on Tuesday, the Sabres and Flyers engaged in a back-and-forth frame that featured five goals in total. The last went to Philadelphia as Vincent Lecavalier scored with 14.8 seconds left in regulation. Cody Hodgson, Matt DAgostini and Tyler Ennis tallied for the Sabres, who had been 6-0-2 in their previous eight at home and lost for the fourth time in the last six games overall. Steve Ott chipped in two assists in defeat, while backup Jhonas Enroth stopped 29 shots. It marked the first time that the Sabres scored more than two goals in a game the Enroth had started since Nov. 2 and he fell to 1-9-4 with a 2.57 GAA and .913 save percentage this season. "Hes been our best player when hes played. We just havent gotten him the goals," said DAgostini. Ryan Miller should get the start in net tonight for Buffalo and is 2-0-1 with a 1.95 GAA in three games against Toronto this season. Defenseman Tyler Myers is eligible to return to the Sabres lineup after serving a three-game suspension for a hit to the head of New Jerseys Dainius Zubrus on Jan. 4. BOSTON -- The suddenly high-scoring Boston Bruins are showing no mercy, even for the departed goalie who led them to the Stanley Cup. Ugg Bailey Bow Femme Soldes. Milan Lucic scored twice and the Bruins spoiled Tim Thomas first game in Boston as a visitor with a 6-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. "I think I mightve enjoyed myself watching the State of the Union more," said Thomas, not a big fan of President Barack Obama, who delivered the speech at the same time as the Bruins were beating the Panthers for the sixth straight time. "No, probably not." In 2011, Thomas didnt accompany his teammates to the White House for the ceremony with Obama marking their championship that year. Boston scored six goals for the third straight game, following road wins of 6-1 and 6-3. The Atlantic Division leaders improved to 5-0-1 in their last six games. Why all that scoring for a team known for its defence? "Weve been able to get out of our zone cleanly and establish the rush," Lucic said. They kept going to the very end, with Carl Soderberg charging into the crease where an angry Thomas swung his stick, hitting Soderberg in the helmet with 4 seconds left. "With less than a minute left in the game and theyre up by four goals," Thomas said, "I took exception to that." Soderberg proclaimed his innocence. "I was just going for the rebound," he said. "We cant stop playing." Even if the opposing goalie was Thomas, who won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP with the Bruins in 2011. He spent one more season with them, took last season off and then joined the Panthers. "Tims always going to be a part of this organization for what hes done," Boston coach Claude Julien said, "but we just have to look at him as the opposing goalie." Zdeno Chara, Reilly Smith, Shawn Thornton and David Krejci also scored for Boston, which led 4-0 until Brad Boyes connected for Florida with 2:33 left in the second period. Dmitry Kulikov added a power-play goal for the Panthers 4 minutes into the third. "All four lines are putting the puck in the net," Krejci said. "Thats good to see." Fans applauded lightly when Thomas was introduced as the starting goalie. But after Thornton made it 5-2 just more than 8 minutes into the third period, they derisively chanted, "Thomas! Thomas!" "I didnt really hear it too much," Thomas said. "There were really not a lot of feelings." Thomas played against the Bruins for the first time on Oct. 17 in Bostons 3-2 win at Florida. He travelled with the Panthers to Boston but did not play Nov. 7 in the Bruins 4-1 victory. For the second consecutive game, the Bruins were the early aggressors, outshooting the Panthers 19-8 in the first period. On Monday night, Boston took 18 of the first 20 shots in a 6-3 win over the New York Islanders. Lucic gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 7:41 of the first period on a rebound after Thomas stopped Jarome Iginlas shot from the right circle. Lucic was initially credited with the second goal less than 8 minutes later when Charas 45-foot shot from the right appeared to hit him before bouncing over Thomas and trickling into the net. The scoring was changed when it was determined that the puck hit Thomas glove, not Lucic. But that didnt stop a few spectators from throwing hats on the ice early in the second, thinking Lucic had completed a hat trick when he scored his 15th of the season on a short backhand. Smith made it 4-0 with his team-leading 18th goal at 14:54 of the second on a pass across the slot from Soderberg. He beat Thomas to the open side of the net. "That wasnt (Thomas) best game," Panthers coach Peter Horachek said, "but I dont think there were a lot of solid efforts by many of the players." After Boyes ruined Tuukka Rasks bid for his fourth shutout in 13 decisions, Kulikov made it 4-2. His goal ended an 0-for-43 power-play drought for the Panthers over their previous 13 games and the first two periods Tuesday. Rask finished with 28 saves. The designation was released Monday after the deadline passed for NFL teams to use franchise or transition tags on players becoming free agents. CONCORD, N.C. -- Penske Racing celebrated a small victory Tuesday when NASCARs chief appellate officer issued a mixed ruling on penalties levied against the team. Although most everything was upheld, suspensions for seven key employees were reduced from six points races to two. Team owner Roger Penske said he was "very happy with the outcome" following John Middlebrooks decision. "All of us have lost points, six, eight, 10, 12 for certain infractions over the years," Penske said. "I dont think this is something we worry about. Obviously we dont worry about it. But from my perspective, the key thing is to have our people back at the race track, operating in full control. I think thats most important. If were going to win, and be a leader and win a championship again, weve got plenty of time to do that." NASCAR inspectors confiscated parts from the rear suspensions of the cars of defending champion Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano before the April 13 race at Texas. NASCAR alleged the parts were not approved, while Penske maintained the parts had been approved but the organization was applying them in a way that fell in a grey area of the rule book. Penske still felt that way Tuesday: "I dont think we were confused. As we interpreted the rules, these are undefined areas." "This sport has been built on innovation," he said. "All of us have tried to innovate in areas not defined in the rulebook. We were in that area." NASCAR docked Keselowski and Logano 25 points each, and fined crew chiefs Paul Wolfe and Todd Gordon $100,000 each. NASCAR also suspended Wolfe, Gordon, competition director Travis Geisler, car chiefs Jerry Kelley and Raymond Fox and engineers Brian Wilson and Samuel Stanley for six races. All suspensions were reduced to two points races, plus next weeks All-Star race. They can return to work at Dover for the June 2 race. Penske did not immediately address how the organization would address the personnel issues at Darlington Raceway this weekend. "The important thing is, this is over," Penske said. "This has been 2-3 weeks of constant questions, lots of emotions. I feel our bench is strong and people can fill in for the crew chiefs." Middlebrook, a former General Motors executive who is paid $1 per year by NASCAR, heard two cases last year. He reduced similar penalties against Hendrick Motorsports crew chief Chad Knaus after the initial appeals board upheld his punishment. Botte Ugg Fille Pas Cher. He lifted the suspension and reinstated Jimmie Johnsons points, but left intact the $100,000 fine NASCAR levied against Knaus for altering sheet metal on the car before inspection at the season-opening Daytona 500. Middlebrook also upheld all penalties on Richard Childress Racing for modifications made to Paul Menards frame rails. Penske praised NASCARs appeals process, and didnt mind the two phases. But its becoming clear that those who run afoul of NASCAR have their best chance at redemption with Middlebrook: Since NASCAR began keeping records in 1999, the first-phase National Stock Car Racing Appeals Panel that Penske went before last week has upheld 106 of 150 appeals. Still, he said the system is fair. "I think the process is good. The panel is the first step and you dont go to the Supreme Court the first day," Penske said. "We operated within the guidelines and Im happy with the outcome." During the first phase of appeal, each side presents its case separately to a three-member panel that is chosen from a pool of 49 potential jurors. The other side is not in the room during the presentation. During final appeal, each side presents its case separately and Middlebrook then brings both parties into the room to question them together. Penske said that was the first time his organization was able to hear from Sprint Cup Series director John Darby directly about the infractions. "Today we had the opportunity to meet with the chief appellate officer and we had that opportunity in conjunction to meet with NASCAR, and this was the first opportunity we had to listen to John specifically to say These are the areas we think you are over the line on," Penske said. "Obviously we had our rebuttal on that, and then the appellate officer had a chance to take into consideration all of the comments we made and NASCAR made, and he came up with a final ruling." Its a busy week for NASCAR, which on Wednesday defends before the three-member panel penalties levied against Joe Gibbs Racing for an illegal part being found in Matt Kenseths race-winning engine from Kansas. JGR is not arguing the part was illegal. The team is instead seeking a reduction of the penalties because the infraction was a mistake on manufacturer Toyotas part that the team had nothing to do with, and it did not provide a competitive advantage. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '

Young formally announced his retirement Friday after returning to Rangers Ballpark, his baseball home for all but the last of his 13 major league seasons. He called his time in Texas the best years of his life. "I came kind of confident, and stubborn, with a lot to learn," Young said. "In a lot of ways was still immature, trying to figure out who I was, and what I wanted to do and what I wanted to be about, and I figured it all out here." A seven-time All-Star, Young is the Rangers career leader with 2,230 hits. The 37-year-old infielder finished as a career .300 hitter in 1,970 games for Texas, Philadelphia and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Texas acquired Young from Toronto in July 2000, along with reliever Darwin Cubillian, for pitcher Esteban Loaiza. Young made his major league debut playing twice the final weekend of that season. Young became a regular in the Rangers lineup after being called up in late May the next season. Texas went from being a last-place team to consecutive World Series in 2010 and 2011. He was traded last winter to Philadelphia, then to the Dodgers at the end of August before the playoffs. Young has three young sons, ages 17 months to 8 years old, who were all born in Dallas, where he and his wife still live. Playing away from home for the first time last season was difficult for Young, even though he loved his time with the Phillies and hometown Dodgers. "My boys are the driving reason why my playing days are done," Young said. "Youve got to be there with them, you have to be there for every success, every failure. If something doesnt go right, I want them to see me first." Had Young wanted to keep playing, he said the Dodgers made him a tempting offer that would have provided significant playing time. Young definitely wants too get back in baseball at some capacity in the future, but isnt in a rush to do so. Adidas Superstar Scontate. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels, who got emotional at one point during his opening remarks, said the team certainly wants to have Young involved in some way. "The game of baseball is going to miss you, and I certainly hope you dont stay away from the game," said Texas manager Ron Washington, describing Young as the ultimate teammate. "I dont think this game will be able to survive without a Michael Young in it." Among the handouts Friday was a listing of all 2,375 of Youngs career hits -- it was almost all of 11 triple-columned pages. The first was a single at Baltimore on May 27, 2001, and the last was a double in a home game for the Dodgers against Colorado last Sept. 29. Originally a second baseman for Texas, Young voluntarily moved to shortstop after Alex Rodriguez was traded before spring training in 2004. Young was an All-Star each of his five seasons at shortstop and won a Gold Glove in 2008. Young switched to third base in 2009 and earned an All-Star nod at that position. He made that move when the Rangers promoted Elvis Andrus, then 20 years old and without ever playing above the Double-A level, to the big leagues. When third baseman Adrian Beltre signed with Texas before the 2011 season, Young became a utility player. He started at five different positions, made another All-Star game, led the AL with 213 hits and was part of the team that twice in Game 6 came within a strike of winning the World Series against St. Louis. "What sticks in my head most is the 2011, what I felt was a championship team that doesnt have a championship," he said. "It still eats at me -- a lot, actually. Im over it, but Im not. I dont want to spend too much time thinking about it. When I do, I still get a sick feeling in my stomach." Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
ORLANDO, Fla. Parka Canada Goose Femme . -- The Magic have their first victory of the new year. Entering the day as one of only two teams left in the NBA not to register a win in 2014, Orlando ended its recent frustrations against a Boston Celtics team that is struggling just as much. Arron Afflalo had 20 points and 13 rebounds, Tobias Harris added 18 points and the Magic snapped a season-high 10-game losing streak with a 93-91 win Sunday night. After a close fourth quarter with several ties, Harris sank a pair of free throws with 10.1 seconds remaining to give Orlando its first victory since Dec. 29. "The emphasis was to win," Afflalo said. "I thought we did that because I could feel no personal agendas, could feel nothing but five guys on the court and the two guys who came off the bench really looking for a way to get a victory." The win also ended a 10-game regular-season losing streak to the Celtics. Glen Davis added 17 points and Jameer Nelson 16 for Orlando. For Davis, a former Celtic, the win was especially sweet. It was his first victory over his former team since being traded to the Magic before the 2011-12 season in a deal that sent Davis to Orlando and Brandon Bass to Boston. Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said with Nik Vucevic still out recovering from a concussion they are asking Davis to do a lot more on the defensive end. Jeff Green led the Celtics with 22 points, and Avery Bradley and Kris Humphries added 18 apiece. Rajon Rondo finished with six points and four assists playing in his second game back from a torn ACL. Boston has lost nine straight on the road and 11 of 12 overall. Bradley said its going to take time to integrate Rondo back into things. "We all have to get used to each other," Bradley said. "The good thing is we are all open to it and we all have the same goals." Orlando scored the first basket of the third quarter to build a nine-point lead, but went cold and allowed Boston to reel off a 13-2 run and retake the lead, 61-57. The Magic were able to steady themselves, and after three ties in the first six minutes of the fourth, nudged back in front 82-79 on a pair of free throws by Afflalo. Green tied it again, at 87, with two free throws with 1:48 remaining. Then following a Magic miss, Rondo got free off a screen and connected on 16-foot jumper to give the Celtics the lead again. Afflalo tied it again at 89 with a layup. Then a Celtics miss eventually led to Nelson being fouled on the other end and hitting two free throws that put the Magic up 91-89. Coming out of a timeout, Green was fouled by Afflalo on a layup, but failed to hit the free throw to complete the three-point play. Orlando snared the rebound and called a timeout with 30.7 seconds to play. Humphries fouled Harris during a scramble for a rebound and Harris calmly sank his two free throws with 10.1 seconds showing on the clock. The Celtics had a final possession, but failed to get up a shot before time expired. Boston had a scary moment late in the first quarter when Green slipped while attempting to contest a jumper by Afflalo. Green landed hard and awkwardly on his right knee, but was able to walk off on his own power after lying on the court for a few minutes. He returned in the second quarter didnt show any effects while exploding for a dunk late in the half. "This is no fun for me at all, thats the bottom line," Boston coach Brad Stevens said. "Id like to see us get better and win some of these, but we havent, so we need to move on and try to do it the next time." Magic rookie Victor Oladipo said the biggest takeaway for him was seeing everyone on the same page throughout an entire game. "Everybody was eager to win so weve got to be like that every game," he said. "When you have a mindset of just continue to play hard, and when your teammates have your back, its hard not to be involved and focused and locked in." NOTES: Afflalo tied a career-high with 13 rebounds. ... Vucevic sat for the seventh straight game (concussion).
