Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in last years draft, underwent successful tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy procedures at the Cleveland Clinic on Tuesday, the team said. Bennett had a disappointing rookie season with the Cavs, averaging just 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 52 games. He got off to a slow start after missing most of last summer as he recovered from shoulder surgery. He began the season out of shape and then it was revealed Bennett suffers from sleep apnea and asthma. LAKE LOUISE, Alta. -- Manuel Osborne-Paradis and Jan Hudec didnt want to leave home without securing their spots on Canadas Olympic team. The two men bounced back from disappointing downhill races at the Lake Louise World Cup to finish in the top 12 in Sundays super-G. Calgarys Hudec was 10th and Vancouvers Osborne-Paradis finished 12th, which met the criteria to be nominated to the 2014 Olympic team. "We were both talking about how frustrated we were so Im glad I got that out of the way now," Hudec says. "It takes the pressure off. The longer you leave it, the more pressure you put on yourself on tougher courses." They followed Erik Guay of Mont-Tremblant, Que., in meeting the Olympic team standard in Lake Louise. Guay was eighth in Saturdays downhill to qualify for his third Winter Games. The 2014 Winter Olympics are in Sochi, Russia, in February. Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway won the super-G at Lake Louise for the third straight year. Hes won six World Cup races at the Alberta resort during his career. His fifth super-G win broke the record of four previously held by Austrian legend Hermann Maier. Svindals lone downhill victory was last year. "Lake Louise has been good to me," Svindal said. "I won my first World Cup ever here in 2005 and its the one destination where I have the most wins. The super-G just seems to suit me well. "The snow in North America, especially here, and the snow in Scandinavia is more similar than from Scandinavia to Central Europe. I think that has something do to with it. Norwegians tend to do well in North America." Austrians were second and third with Matthias Mayer .24 seconds back of Svindal and Georg Streitberger .38 seconds behind. The men head to Beaver Creek, Colo., and the second stop on the World Cup circuit this 2013-14 season. They trade places with the women, who are travelling from Beaver Creek to Lake Louise this week for downhill races Friday and Saturday and a super-G on Sunday. U.S. ski star Lindsey Vonn has won a record 14 times at Lake Louise and swept all three races the last two years. But the 29-year-old crashed in training last week and partially tore a reconstructed ligament in her right knee. Vonn free skied, but didnt participate in the womens races at Beaver Creek on the weekend. She told The Associated Press she wants to race in Lake Louise. The first of three womens training runs scheduled for Tuesday has been called off because the women were delayed travelling from Colorado to Alberta. In additioon to medals and prize money, medallists at Lake Louise were given white cowboy hats to wear for podium pictures and to take home. Wholesale NBA Jerseys. "Its pretty hard to walk around in Europe and think youre a cowboy," Svindal said. "Its one of those things where you wear them here and think its really cool and you get off the plane in Germany and its not that sweet anymore unless you are a real cowboy." Total prize money at the World Cup was 100,000 Swiss francs ($117,000 Cdn) with 30,000 going to the downhill and super-G winners. The Canadian team departs without a medal at their home race. Osborne-Paradis was the last Canadian man to stand on the podium at Lake Louise when he won the super-G in 2009. "When you look at the results on paper, its not quite where we wanted to be, but for the most part the three guys, Erik, Manny and Jan have good speed and theyre going to be building through the season," said Paul Kristofic, Alpine Canadas vice-president of sports. "Its good to see Erik up to speed so quickly. We didnt actually expect that." Guay tied for 18th in the super-G. Knee surgery in July kept the 2011 world downhill champion off snow until November. The 32-year-old said Lake Louise gave him positive feedback on his progress. "It was to see how the knee reacted, how the back reacted, how the skiing is in race situations," Guay said. "Theres good things that came out of this weekend and I have to build off of that." Hudec and Osborne-Paradis were 22nd and 28th respectively in Saturdays downhill. Hudec rapped his knuckles on the side of his helmet after crossing the super-G finish line Sunday. "That was the old fashioned Im an idiot," Hudec explained. "Even though Im not on the podium today, I knew I could have been. "Even though Im not quite in there, Im happy because I was skiing towards a podium finish. I just made a huge mistake. The reason I was hitting my head is I didnt trust myself for a split second to take a tighter line than what I expected. I ended up out in the weeds as they say." Osborne-Paradis was at a disadvantage with a No. 45 start bib. Courses generally get beaten and chopped up by the first 30 racers down the hill. So finishing 12th was the performance of the day for Canada, according to Kristofic. "Thats great. I needed it," Osborne-Paradis said. "I was really bummed yesterday. Im super-pumped with today. Its good to walk away from here with that Olympic spot." Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
ST. http://www.cheapjerseysteam.us.com/cheap-soccer-country-china/ . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Shortstop Yunel Escobar and the Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to a two-year contract extension covering 2015 and 2016 worth a guaranteed $13 million. The deal announced Saturday also includes a club option for 2017. The extension replaces a 2015 club option. The 31-year Escobar played in a career-high 153 games and made 149 starts last season for the Rays. After establishing club records with a .989 fielding percentage and 53 consecutive errorless games at shortstop, he was a finalist for the American League Gold Glove Award. "Hes a really, really good player at a position thats extremely scarce around the game," Tampa Bay executive vice-president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said. Escobar brought up the idea of an extension with Friedman during spring training. "I really do feel happy here," Escobar said through an interpreter. "I think its one of the best things that ever happened in my career. Fortunately we were able to do something and get this contract." Over the previous three seasons, Escobars .982 fielding percentage at short ranks third in the majors -- with at last 400 starts -- behind Baltimores J.J. Hardy (.988) and Philadelphias Jimmy Rollins (.983). PETERSBURG, Fla.CALGARY - Embarrassed 7-2 by the Calgary Flames two weeks ago, the Anaheim Ducks returned to the scene of that ugly loss Wednesday night and picked up an important victory. Andrew Cogliano scored the go-ahead goal at 14:41 as Anaheim scored twice in the third period in a 3-2 victory over the resilient Flames. "Thats one of the biggest two points of the season, for sure," said Cogliano. "To come back from behind in the third period, it shows where were going as a team and I think its a big statement win for us." Stephane Robidas shot from the blue-line was kicked out by Karri Ramo but the puck went right to Cogliano at the face-off circle, who buried his 21st of the season. "Right place at the right time. It landed right on my stick. When I saw the net, no better feeling," said Cogliano, who put a shot off the post just minutes earlier. "Those are the goals were trying to score, especially myself. Getting to the net, getting some rebounds." Finishing it off wasnt easy, however. The Flames poured on the pressure in the final minute with the goalie pulled. Mike Cammalleris blast came the closest to getting past Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller, but the Ducks hung on. "Its one of those things where theyre just throwing everything at the net and youre trying to find the puck somehow. I found it once or twice there so we could at least get a whistle," said Hiller, who had 32 saves. It was a nice bounce-back game for him after getting chased less than 12 minutes into the last start at the Scotiabank Saddledome after yielding three goals on five shots. "The whole team was upset with what happened last time. I didnt feel I played terribly or whatever but those things happen and its nice if you get a chance pretty quick to do better," said Hiller. "Definitely happy with the way we responded and the way I responded. I thought we played a pretty good road game." Nick Bonino and Mathieu Perreault also scored for Anaheim (47-18-7), which kicks off a three-game road trip to Western Canada with its sixth road win in its last eight games away from the Honda Center. The win moves the Ducks to within two points of the San Jose Sharks and the lead in the Pacific Division. Anaheim still holds two games in hand. Hiller says winning the division is definitely a priority. "It would be great to be up there because if youre second, you have a good chance of playing L.A. in the first round which would be a tough match-up," Hiller said. Brian McGrattan and Jiri Hudler scored for Calgary (30-36-7). Rookie defenceman Tyler Wotherspoon had an assist to give the 21-year-old points inn his last three games. http://www.cheapjerseysteam.us.com/cheap-new-england-patriots-jersey-china-128/. "Thats the way you learn sometimes, too. You learn from tough losses," said McGrattan, who was playing his 300th NHL game. "Our group hasnt given up all year. Were in every game and work our butts off right until the end and thats a good sign." Its the Flames league-leading 44th one-goal game, one shy of the franchise record set in 2005-06. "If you look at the young guys throughout the year, how theyre showing up against these teams late in the year when were playing San Jose, L.A., Anaheim — were playing all these top teams down the stretch and were giving them a run for the money every night. Thats a lot to build off of as a group and its a lot to learn from," said McGrattan. Trailing 2-1 headed to the third period, the Ducks tied it at 5:32 on Perreaults 16th goal. "We fought hard in the third and got a couple bounces our way and finally we were able to put it in and win the game," said Perreault, who extended his point streak to six games (four goals, two assists). "Coming down the stretch, we play a couple teams that are already out of the playoffs. We have to take advantage of those games." Trailing 1-0 after the first period, the Flames scored twice in the second to take the lead. The tying goal, which bounced off Kevin Westgarths glove in front and then into the net off of McGrattans hip was the rugged wingers fourth goal and 10th of his career. Calgary took a 2-1 lead with 26 seconds left in the second when a pretty fake shot then pass from Ladislav Smid set up Hudler. "Its a good effort. We know we can play with every team in the league but its not good enough — a good effort, we have to get results too. Thats the business of hockey," said Ramo, who had won his previous five decisions. Ramo, who had 31 stops, had his record fall to 13-11-4. Hiller improves to 29-11-6. "They paid the price and when they came to the net, they had a lot of shots and a lot of traffic with them," said Ramo. "They were into the game today, unlike the last game. I think they had a chip on their shoulders when they came here today." Notes: On the eve of the one-year anniversary of the trade of Jarome Iginla to Pittsburgh, the two players they received in return - LW Kenny Agostino and RW Ben Hanowski, were both healthy scratches for the Flames... With the Tom Brady- Peyton Manning rivalry so well documented, theres no doubt Sundays AFC Championship game comes with added significance to the two first-ballot Hall of Famers. Adidas NMD Heren Geel/Zwart/Wit High Top Sneaker . It will be their 15th head-to-head meeting and fourth in the post-season (Sunday at 2pm et/11am pt on CTV) and for his part, Brady isnt downplaying just how big the game is for him. "Im excited - Its everything you could ask for as an athlete," the New England Patriots quarterback told WEEI Radio in Boston on Monday. "We have a great opportunity ahead of us. It would be as satisfying a victory as weve ever had to go to Denver and win this game." With a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, theres no shortage of motivation for Sundays game, but its another chance for the two to stake claim to the title best QB of their generation. Brady owns the series edge over Manning 10-4 and is 2-1 head-to-head in the postseason. Sundays game will tie the two for most postseason meetings with other iconic rivals Brett Favre and Steve Young, and Terry Bradshaw and Ken Stabler. Brady knows as well as anyone about the challenge Manning and the Broncos offence presents. "Hes got great command of the offence," he said. "He can pretty much do whatever he wants. He obviously has a lot of confidence in what hes doing and he has confidence in the guys around him. "Once he sees the coverage, he tries to get the plays that can beat the coverage. It really forces the defense to play very solid, to cover everything. Because if you dont then he does a great job finding the holes." While the Broncos finished the regular season atop the AFC standings and will enjoy home field advantage on Sunday, the Patriots came out ahead in their only meeting this season, a 34-31 overtime win in late November. Still, Brady says that means little come game time. "Theres nothing thats happened in the past thats going to help us try to win this game on Sunday," he said. "Well be able to take some things from the game we played and study them and prepare for them. But well have different things to do, theyll have different things to do. Their team is different than from when they played us, and were pretty different from when we played them." Denver opens the week as 4 1/2 point favourites, but Brady puts little stock in what the experts think ahead of the game. "Truthfully, I dont turn the TV on, I dont read anything," he said. I just try to focus on what I need to do. "Im sure no ones going to pick us to win this week. Weve had our backs against the wall for a while. Really the whole season weve lost players and teams have really counted us out. "Weve got a bunch of underdogs on our team, and well be an underdog again. Well see how that shapes up here at the end of the week. But I know that were as tough and physical as weve ever been, and thats the way were going to need to go out and play this game." The rookie quarterback threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score as the New York Jets suddenly resurgent offence set a season high for points and stopped a three-game skid with a 37-27 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. "Man, we needed that in the worst way," coach Rex Ryan said, "to say the least." Chris Ivory had a touchdown run, Nick Folk kicked three field goals and Antonio Allen blocked a punt and returned it for a score to help the Jets (6-7) avoid their first four-game losing streak under Ryan. Smith ended a miserable stretch that included getting benched last week by throwing his first touchdown toss since Week 7. He finished 16 of 25 for 219 yards, and ran five times for 50 yards -- and was able to overcome his 20th interception of the season, which led to a field goal for the Raiders. "I cant sit here and say Im not human because it is difficult," Smith said. "When you have those struggles and you come out and, the first quarter and first half, you have an interception near the 50-yard line and you kind of start to think about those things, all of those mistakes in the past." Smith got a boost on the sideline from his teammates, who urged him to hang in there and not lose his confidence. "Thats the mark of this young man," Ryan said. "Hes a resilient guy and has shown he can bounce back. It was an excellent performance on his part, and really, the team in general." Matt McGloin threw two touchdown passes and fullback Marcel Reece, starting because Oakland was down three injured running backs, had a 63-yard touchdown run for the Raiders (4-9). Oakland has lost three straight overall, and 13 in a row in games played in the Eastern time zone. "Today is as bad as we played this whole season," Raiders safety Charles Woodson said. "It was really embarrassing to be part of it. We looked like the Bad News Bears out there." With the Jets leading 3-0 after Folks 41-yard field goal, Smith was picked off by Kevin Burnett. The sparse crowd at MetLife Stadium booed loudly, but Sebastian Janikowski missed a 52-yard field goal. Despite Smiths turnover, offfensive co-ordinator Marty Mornhinweg went right back to the pass on the next drive. Nice Kicks x Nmd Runner Adidas Heren Schoenen Zwart/Rood. Smith lofted a throw that a leaping Jeremy Kerley came down with for a 25-yard touchdown and a 10-0 lead. "I just went up and got it," said Kerley, playing for the first time since dislocating his left elbow on Nov. 3. "It felt like backyard football." It was Smiths first TD pass since Oct. 20 against New England and his second in eight games. It was also New Yorks first touchdown of any kind in nine quarters. Terrelle Pryor came in at quarterback on Oaklands third offensive series to help offset the Raiders lack of running backs with Darren McFadden, Rashad Jennings and Jeremy Stewart all inactive with injuries. He led a drive capped by a 41-yard field goal by Janikowski. Then McGloin returned and, on third-and-9 from the 3, Ed Reed got his 62nd career interception and first with the Jets. Folk later made a 23-yard field goal. Allen blocked Marquette Kings punt, recovered it and returned it for a touchdown to put New York ahead 20-3 in the second quarter. Oakland got on the scoreboard right away in the second half as Reece zipped up the middle for a 63-yard touchdown. He finished with 123 yards on 19 carries. But the Jets came right back as Smith ran for an 8-yard score, his fourth of the season. McGloin connected with Rod Streater on a 48-yard touchdown pass on a ball threaded between Reed and Antonio Cromartie, who smacked into each other. The Jets said Cromartie has a head injury, but he finished the game. Ivory blasted into the end zone from 15 yards, slipping out of three tackle attempts and dragging a fourth Raiders defender over the goal line for a 37-20 lead. The play was set up by Smiths 32-yard scramble. McGloin, 18 of 31 for 245 yards, connected with Mychal Rivera on a 1-yard touchdown with 2:24 remaining. "Were out of lifelines," Jets guard Willie Colon said. "We have to execute and have to get it done, and today was the first step." NOTES: With 2,475 yards passing, Smith passed Mark Sanchez (2,444 in 2009) for the most by a rookie in franchise history. ... (The Sports Network) - When it comes to quarterbacks a lot of people believe either you have it or you dont. Chris Gragg Bills Jersey . Andrew Luck has "it" and the second-year star will show the nation when he leads his Indianapolis Colts into San Diego on "Monday Night Football." Coverage on TSN begins with Monday Night Countdown at 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt. Kickoff follows at 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt. Week 5s impressive 34-28 win over previously unbeaten Seattle was just the latest fourth-quarter comeback for Luck, who is 15-6 as an NFL starter with an amazing nine late-game rallies, the most by any signal caller in his first 21 games since the 1970 merger. Luck threw for 229 yards with two touchdown passes against the Seahawks and guided a 14-play, 86-yard drive in the fourth quarter that ended with Donald Brown barreling in for a go-ahead score. Russell Wilson, taken 74 picks after Luck was selected first overall in the 2012 draft, had a chance to keep the Seahawks from falling into the loss column but was picked off by Darius Butler as time wound down to seal Indianapolis third straight win. Lucks favorite target was TY Hilton, who hauled in five passes for a career- high 140 yards and two touchdowns despite being covered by All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman for a good portion of the showdown. "This is the most resilient team Ive ever been around," an excited Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said. "I cant tell you how proud I am of every man in that locker room." San Diego, on the other hand, is coming off a bad 27-17 loss in Oakland and will hang its hat on Philip Rivers, who is 4-1 against the Colts in his career. Rivers connected on 36-of-49 passes for 411 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions against the Raiders but the Chargers turned the ball over five times. Rookie receiver Keenan Allen hauled in six passes for 115 yards and a score, while Vincent Brown caught eight passes for 117 yards. San Diego running back Ryan Mathews left the game in the second quarter with a concussion, however, and the Chargers finished the game with just 32 yards on the ground. "It doesnt matter what level youre at, when you turn the ball over five times, its tough to win games," San Diego coach Mike McCoy said. The Chargers hold a 15-9 advantage against the Colts in the regular-season series but interestingly enough are just 4-6 in San Diego. WHAT TO WATCH FOR This could be a bit of a trap game for the young Colts and Luck because they host the Denver Broncos, who many consider to be the best team in the NFL, on Oct. 20. "I dont think youll see any of these guys walk around with their chest puffed out like a robin, walking around the yard after a big rain storm," Pagano said. "Were not going there. Well keep reminding them its a short ride from the penthouse to the outhouse." That kind of short ride probably isnt happening any time soon with Luck on hand. The former Stanford star is the first Colts quarterback not named Peyton Manning to lead Indy to sole possession of first place at any point of a season since his former college coach and current San Francisco mentor Jim Harbaugh had the Colts atop the AFC East way back on Oct. 13, 1996. Luck is quickly turning into the NFLs next true star at the QB position, the kind of pure passer who creates havoc in the back seven of any defense. He is also far more athletic than most think and can extend plays with his feet, a key component in the modern NFL game. For now Luck is handling success well. "I dont think its in the DNA of a Pagano-coached team to hang your head or to get too high when youre doing something well," he said. "His approach is very methodical." Overall the Colts rank sixth in the NFL in points per game and fifth in points allowed per game, one of only three teams (New Orleans and Seattle) this season to rank in the top 10 in each category. Offensively, a big key to the Colts strong start has been the improved running game. Indianapolis ranks fourth in the NFL with 142.0 rushing yards per contest, but Ahmad Bradshaw wont be contributing to that any longer after deciding to undergo surgery on his injured neck. Trent Richardson has taken over the starring role in the backfield and ran for 56 yards against Seattle while backup Donald Brown added 37 and a touchdown. They should be able to get something done against a San Diego defense which is just 24th in the league in rush defense. "Hes a powerful runner that a lot of times doesnt go down with the first hit," Chargers linebacker Larry English said when discussing Richardson. "We have to do a great job this week tackling." The San Diego defense also has forced just two turnovers this season and is among the dregs of the league overall, allowing over 400 yards a game. On the other hand, the Chargers possess the fifth-ranked offense, gaining an average of 401.6 yards per game. Rivers has been spectacular, completing 141- of-191 passes for 1,610 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions for a passer rating of 110.5. Attacking the Colts on the ground, though, is paramount because Indy ranks 30th in football, allowing 129.0 ypg. Mathews concussion could keep him out Monday, leaving Danny Woodhead and Ronnie Brown to handle the backfield load, which would help the Colts. "They play great team defense," Brown said. "They always have that bend-but- dont-break mentality, so on offense we have to go in and not give them any extra possessions." OVERALL ANALYSIS The Colts have outscored opponents by 54 points in their first two road games this season, which is the highest point differential through as many away games in franchise history. Thats unlikely to continue here because Rivers is so explosive but you can certainly envision a big Chargers mistake costing them in the end. "I know he didnt want to walk me and put a guy on base," Frazier said. "I was looking to get a fastball I could handle and, fortunately, I was able to connect." Fraziers leadoff homer lifted Cincinnati to a 6-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night after the Reds bullpen blew a three-run lead. Fraziers team-leading 16th home run to centre field came off closer Jason Grilli (0-2) and gave the Reds their fifth win in six games. Cincinnati (34-35) also got within one game of .500 on its ninth try. "You cant fall behind the first guy you face, especially in a tie ballgame," Grilli said. "He dives over the plate. ... It just didnt work out." Frazier leads NL third basemen in homers, extra-base hits (31) and slugging percentage (.524). "Hes very confident now that he can be a major league player," Cincinnati manager Bryan Price said of Frazier, who is in his fourth season. "Hes been able to put home runs, RBIs, run production into one package." Billy Hamilton had three hits and two stolen bases for the Reds, while Joey Votto had two hits and three RBIs. Frazier, Brandon Phillips and Ryan Ludwick added two hits apiece. Hamilton is 8 for 13 in his last three games. Cincinnati is 5-2 and averaging 5.3 runs per game since Votto was activated from the disabled list after missing three weeks with a quadriceps strain. Logan Ondrusek (2-2) got four outs for the win. Aroldis Chapman pitched a scoreless ninth for his 12th save, getting Clint Barmes to fly out to the left-field fence with two runners on to end the game. "It was an interesting game in a lot of ways," Price said. "Both teams had their moments and we had to have some good things happen to win the game. It would have been nice if it were a little easier on the stomach." "It carried farther than I thought," Heisey said. "Fortunately, it stayed in the park." Josh Harrison matched a career high with four hits for the Pirates. He drove in two runs. Starling Marte, Ike Davis and Jordy Mercer added two hits apiece. Andrew McCutchen extended his hitting streak to 12 games but came up short of becoming the first Pittsburgh player to have multiple hits in nine straight games since Rennie Stennett in 1971. Gregory Polanco became the first Pirates player to have a hit in each of the first seven games of his career since Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente in 1955. The Pirates used a three-run seventh inning to tie the score at 5 on RBI singles by Davis, Russell Martin and Harrison. Cincinnati starter Johnny Cuetos hard luck continued as he gave up two runs in six innings of a no-decision. Cueto scattered seven hits and four walks, but the bullpen failed to hold a three-run lead for him. Despite a sparkling 1.92 ERA, Cueto is 6-5 through 15 starts. In two starts against the Pirates in April, he allowed one run and six hits in 18 innings. Pittsburghs Brandon Cumpton gave up three runs and eight hits in six innings after winning his previous two starts. Custom Boston Red Sox Jersey . Winger Charles Piutau scored his first of two tries for New Zealand before two early penalty kicks by Ayumu Goromaru cut the visitors lead to 7-6, but that was as close as Japan would get. Sam Cane scored the All Blacks second try in the 26th minute to make it 12-6 before Smith and McCaw ran in, allowing Steve Hansens team to take a comfortable 28-6 lead at the break. "It was a very good game for us in a number of ways," Hansen said. "We got up mentally for an opposition that we knew, with the greatest of respect, we were always going to beat." The second half was more of the same with Jeremy Thrush, Frank Halai, Beauden Barrett and Piutau all scoring tries, with Barrett adding two conversions and Dan Carter one. Japan, currently 15th in the world rankings, was forced to play Saturdays match without head coach Eddie Jones who is out indefinitely after suffering a stroke last month. Technical adviser Steve Wisemantel took over in his absence. World champion New Zealand stretched its winning streak to 11 games and set themselves up nicely for their tour of Europe where they will play matches against France, England and Ireland. Japan will host the 2019 Rugby World Cup and is eager to improve but Saturdays match underlined the vast differences between the Asian nation and an elite team like New Zealand. ATLANTA -- The Washington Nationals bounced up and down in unison near second base, not bothered at all by a smattering of boos from the crowd at Turner Field. Mike Piazza Mets Jersey . They were saving the real celebration for the clubhouse. The Nationals wrapped up their second NL East title in three years against the team that knocked them out of the top spot last season, beating the Atlanta Braves 3-0 on Tuesday night. Tanner Roark pitched five-hit ball over seven innings and Ian Desmonds two-run homer broke a scoreless tie in the sixth, sending Washington back to the playoffs with nearly two weeks to spare. "Nice to have it done," said Washington first baseman Adam LaRoche, who began his career with the Braves. "The sooner, the better." In the clubhouse, the Nationals drenched each other -- and pretty much anything that moved -- with seemingly endless streams of beer. Lil Jons party anthem "Turn Down For What" boomed from the speakers. Bryce Harper, wearing goggles and a fire helmet with "34" across the front, posed for selfies with his teammates. "We want to keep going, keep winning ballgames," Harper said. The clinching victory was especially sweet coming against the Braves, who finished 10 games ahead of the Nationals in 2013. The roles were reversed this season as Washington steadily pulled away down the stretch. The teams were tied for the lead as late as July 20. It was no contest the rest of the way. The Nationals stretched the lead to a season-high 12 1/2 games with the victory. "Its just one step. Theres a long, hard road ahead of us," Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth said. "But were going to enjoy the moment for now." Atlanta lost for the 11th time in 14 games, further damaging its hopes of making a third straight playoff appearance, this time as a wild card. The Braves dropped to 75-76 with their fifth straight loss, the first time they have been under .500 since losing on opening day. "You never want anybody to celebrate on your field," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "But they did it professionally, I thought. I didnt expect anything less from that organization." The Braves fell 5 1/2 games behind Pittsburgh for the second NL wild card with 11 games left in the regular season. "Weve still got a chance," Gonzalez insisted. "Now weve got to set our sights on a winning streak and maybe we can come in with a second wild card." Roark (14-10) pitched around four leadoff singles by Atlanta, which never got a runner past second base. He struck out four and walked none, lifted after throwing 89 pitches. Tyler Clippard worked a scoreless eighth, and Drew Storen finished up for his seventh save. The Nationals finally broke through in the sixth against Aaron Harang (11-11). After Werth led off with a walk, LaRoche took a called third strike before Harang worked the count to 2-2 on Desmond. The next pitch was a breaking ball that stayed up in the zone. Desmond got all of it, sending a drive deep into the left-field seats for his 23rd homer. Left fielder Justin Upton barely moved, while Harang pumped his fist angrily on the mound. "A curveball down the middle," Desmond said. "It ended up going out of the ballpark." He scored Washingtons other run in the ninth, trotting home on David Carpenters wild pitch. The Nationals will be making just the third playoff appearance in the franchises 46-year history. The club reached the post-season only once as the Montreal Expos (in 1981) before moving to Washington for the 2005 season. Two years ago, the Nationals had a major league-leading 98 wins but were stunned by the St. Louis Cardinals in the deciding game of the NL division series. Washington jumped ahead 6-0 after three innings and still led 7-5 going to the ninth, only to give up four runs with two outs. "We have a chance for redemption," LaRoche said. TRAINERS ROOM Nationals: Harper was back in the lineup after leaving Mondays game in the third inning when he felt light-headed. Manager Matt Williams said Harper had a "little bit of the gunk" that seemed to be going around in the Washington clubhouse. Braves: C Evan Gattis missed his eighth straight game since coming down with strep throat. Gonzalez said he doesnt know when Gattis will be healthy enough to return. UP NEXT Nationals: LHP Gio Gonzalez (8-10) has won two of his three starts in September after going nearly two months without a win. Braves: LHP Alex Wood (10-10) has lasted at least seven innings and allowed two runs or fewer in 12 of his 22 starts. Atlanta is 5-7 in those games. A TRADITION LIKE NO OTHER It was the 10th time the Braves have watched a visiting team celebrate a playoff victory or post-season-clinching win since moving to Turner Field in 1997. KANSAS CITY, Kan. http://www.thenfllockerroom.com/Philadelphia-Eagles-Vinny-Curry-Jersey/ . -- Kevin Harvick didnt simply have his hands full with the rest of the Sprint Cup field Sunday. He also was trying to tame a squirrely surface at Kansas Speedway. He handled both better than anybody else. Harvick pulled away from Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon on a late restart to win a wreck-filled race over the recently repaved track, keeping his No. 29 Chevrolet out of trouble all afternoon and making a big move in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. "It was an interesting weekend, to say the least," said Harvick, who moved into third in points behind leaders Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson. "Everybody was battling the tires and the track, and I think it was like driving on a razor blade." Harvick sat on the pole for the first time in 254 races, and that should have given him some confidence. He also won the last time he qualified first, at New Hampshire in 2006. "These guys just did a great job all weekend," Harvick said. "To have a car fast enough for me to qualify on the pole says a lot about how fast this thing is." Harvick was chased across the line by Busch and Gordon. Joey Logano finished fourth, Carl Edwards was fifth, and Johnson finished sixth despite a hiccup with his engine on the final lap that cost him a spot on the track. Kenseth held onto his lead in the Chase with an 11th-place finish. Johnson narrowed the gap to three points, while Harvick closed to within 25 points heading to Charlotte. "We just got to keep doing what we did today to be a contender," said his car owner, Richard Childress. "I dont think top 10s will win a championship when youre racing Jimmie Johnson and the group of guys that are up there." Kyle Busch was the big loser after crashing out of his third straight Sprint Cup race at Kansas. He dropped from third in points to fifth, 35 out of first place. "All-in-all just a crazy day," said Johnson, who shaved five points off of Kenseths lead. "Wacky restarts, a lot of chaos there, and caution after caution for who knows what." There were 15 cautions in the race, breaking the record of 14 set in last years race. The first came when the race wasnt even a lap old and Danica Patrick slammed into the wall, and most of them occurred when cars got loose coming out of Turn 2. Kenseth both called the race "treacherous," pointing to the combination of a repave last year and Goodyears new "multi-zone" tires that made it seem as if they were skating across a smooth, glasslike surface most of the afternoon. All of it was compounded by temperatures in the 50s at the start, more than 30 degrees cooler than practice earlier in the week. "Its all about restarts and making sure you can gain spots, but its treacherous," Kurt Busch said. "You had to have a lot of give and take." One of the intriguing story lines coming into the race involved Chase contender Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski, who got together in the Nationwide race Saturday. Keselowski said that Busch intentionally dumped him and seemed to indicate he would retaliate in the Sprint Cup race. Keselowski even asked NASCAR President Mike Helton in the prerace drivers meeting about the line between hard racing and intentional wrecks. It turned out that Busch kept going for spins without Keselowskis help. The first one came down the front stretch when he appeared to squeeze Juan Pablo Montoya, sending Busch sideways across the track. The second spin came after a restart a moment later, and this one sent his No. 18 Toyota head-first into the Turn 1 wall and ended his day. "I have no idea what happened, but its Kansas. Its what we do here, we just crash," Busch said. "The racetrack is the worst racetrack Ive ever driven on. The tires are the worst tires Ive ever driven on, and track position is everything. You cant do anything." Harvick didnt seem to have a whole lot of trouble with track, or the tires. He was fast from the moment he unloaded this weekend, and then turned heads with his fast qualifying run. Harvick got off pit sequence early in the race and was shuffled to the back of the pack, but he was fast every time he got into clean air. That was the case at the end, when he pulled away for an easy victory. "The car was just really tight and then we got better as the cloud cover came over and we found that middle line," Harvick said. "Track position was so important. It was a good day, and just happy as heck for everybody on this team." http://www.thenfllockerroom.com/Houston-Texans-Jon-Weeks-Jersey/ . -- For more than four months, the Portland Winterhawks were invincible on home ice. http://www.thenfllockerroom.com/Custom-Shop-Kansas-City-Chiefs/ . Haren found everything he wanted at Dodger Stadium. The right-hander agreed to a one-year, $10 million deal with the Dodgers on Monday, adding another veteran arm to Los Angeles deep rotation. The deal includes $3 million in performance bonuses and a $10 million vesting option for 2015. Haren was eager for a change after spending last season in Washington, where he went 10-14 with a 4.67 ERA even with a strong finish to the season. He missed his wife and children during his year on the East Coast, and the 11-year veteran seized the chance to return home after spending the previous three seasons with the Angels. "My kids are growing up, and to have the opportunity to come back so close to home and pitch for a championship-level club, it couldnt have happened any better for me," Haren said. The three-time All-Star went 33-27 with the Angels, enduring a rough final season. He also got off to a slow start with the Nationals, but Haren regained enough of his form to make him attractive on the limited free-agent market. Haren will compete for a prominent spot in Los Angeles loaded rotation alongside Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Hyun-Jin Ryu and injured veterans Chad Billingsley and Josh Beckett. "We were looking for somebody that we could lean on to provide us starts and innings, and obviously had a good track record," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said. "Hes also somebody from the area, so he understands the Dodgers and has respect for the organization and everything. ... Were more than willing to take a chance on somebody with his makeup, with his ability, with his experience, and with his track record." If Haren pitches 180 innings for the Dodgers, hell have a $10 million player option for 2015. He had pitched at least 180 innings in nine straight seasons before last year in Washington, where he finished with 169 2-3 innings pitched after a stint on the disabled list. Haren will get $250,000 each in performance bonuses if he makes 24, 27 and 30 starts, with a $500,000 bonus for 32 starts. Hell get $250,000 each if he pitches 150, 160 and 170 innings, with a $500,000 bbonus for 180 and 190 innings. http://www.thenfllockerroom.com/Pittsburgh-Steelers-Hines-Ward-Jersey/. If he reaches 180 innings in 2014 and is traded before the season ends, then there is a player option for 2015 at $11 million. "Could I have gotten more in other places? Maybe, probably," Haren said. "But the Dodgers seemed like a good fit for me, and at this point in my career, it looks like the Dodgers priority is winning now, and thats my priority too." The 33-year-old has 129 career victories. The Dodgers will be the sixth major league team for Haren, who also pitched for St. Louis, Oakland and Arizona. Haren knows hell be competing with Billingsley and Beckett for a rotation spot, and the Dodgers are eager to see how it develops. "Josh we expect to be ready when camp opens, and Chad at some point during the season," Colletti said. "Im not going to close the door to any more starters. We certainly like the four we have, and we hope we get Josh back and we hope we get Chad back." Haren isnt sure how the rotation will shake out, but hes confident hell have a spot if he performs to his usual capabilities. Hes also eager to suit up for the NL West champions, who lost to the Cardinals in the league championship series. "The talent is second to none," Haren said. "Weve got stars at every position." Haren pitched alongside Greinke in 2012 with the Angels, and theyve stayed in regular contact. Greinke welcomed Haren to the Dodgers earlier in the day -- and then hit him up for fantasy football advice. After he realized last winter that he wouldnt return to the Angels, Haren and his wife kept their home in Irvine, where he lives in the same gated community as Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire. Haren isnt suggesting a carpool with Big Mac, but hes thinking about buying an electric vehicle to ease the pain of a daily commute from Orange County to Dodger Stadium. He also plans to get tips on the drive from utilityman Skip Schumaker, who also lives in the coastal area thats home to dozens of athletes, including Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant. "Ill get used to it," Haren said. "Ill get satellite radio or something. ... Or maybe I could (get a ride on) Kobes plane. With his extension today, he could probably afford to give me a few rides."
