LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Kings placed high-scoring forward Jeff Carter on
injured reserve Saturday with a lower-body injury.
Truitje Eden Hazard Kopen . The Kings also
recalled forwards Tyler Toffoli and Linden Vey from the minors before their home
game against Nashville, and announced defenceman Keaton Ellerby was claimed off
waivers by Winnipeg. Carter has five goals and four assists in 14 games this
season, tying Justin Williams for the team lead in goals. The right wing led the
Western Conference with 26 goals last season for the seventh 20-goal campaign of
his NHL career. The Kings havent specified the nature of Carters injury, but he
was wearing a walking boot Friday at practice. Carter apparently was hurt during
Los Angeles 4-3 overtime victory over San Jose on Wednesday night. Carters
absence is a blow to the defence-minded Kings already modest offence, which is
ranked 18th in the NHL with 2.57 goals per game. His move to injured reserve is
retroactive to Oct. 30. The 21-year-old Toffoli is getting his first call-up of
the season after appearing in 10 regular-season games and 12 playoff contests
with the Kings last year. Toffoli had two goals and four assists in the
post-season when Los Angeles reached the Western Conference finals. Toffoli
leads the Kings AHL affiliate in Manchester with 12 points this season. Vey is a
former fourth-round pick who has spent the last two seasons in Manchester,
collecting 67 points in 74 games last season. He has yet to play in an NHL game.
Ellerby still hadnt played for the Kings this season, failing to crack the Kings
defensive rotation after playing in 35 regular-season games and five playoff
games last season. Los Angeles acquired him from Florida for a fifth-round draft
pick in February.

Switzerland won the Davis Cup first-round tie against Serbia after Marco
Chiudinelli and Michael Lammer beat Nenad Zimonjic and Filip Krajinovic in
doubles for an unbeatable 3-0 lead on Saturday. Switzerland faces Belgium or
Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals in April. Serbia dropped into the World Group
playoffs in September. A confident Chiudinelli and Lammer defeated veteran
doubles player Zimonjic and young Krajinovic 7-6 (3), 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-2. The
Serb pair fought hard and appeared even, forcing a tiebreak in the first set and
winning the second. But Zimonjic and Krajinovic failed to convert two break
points at 5-5 in the third set, allowing the Swiss to regain confidence and
cruise to victory in the fourth set. "We wanted to get the three points, we have
the victory already on Saturday," Lammer said. "We are in the quarterfinals for
the first time in a long time, which is very exciting for Switzerland.

Belgie. quot; Serbia captain Bogdan Obradovic said: "Our guys did
their best, but didnt have luck." On Friday, Swiss stars Roger Federer and
Stanislas Wawrinka won the opening singles. Federer was making his first Davis
Cup appearance since 2012. Serbia, last years finalist, was playing without its
three top players, Novak Djokovic, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki. The
second-ranked Djokovic decided to rest after losing to Wawrinka in the
Australian Open quarterfinals, while Tipsarevic was nursing a heel injury and
Troicki was serving a 12-month doping ban for failing to appear at a test. That
meant 102nd-ranked Dusan Lajovic was Serbias highest-ranked team member. Coach
Obradovic said he hoped the top players will be back next year. "All that is
left is to reorganize and fight to stay in the World Group," he said.
