The Hockey Concussion Education Project - a collaboration of specialists from Canada and the United States - provided new physical evidence on Tuesday identifying early brain change as a result of concussions and observed that diagnosed concussion incidence was 3-5 times higher than previously reported. Using advanced MRI imaging and analysis on 45 male and female adult CIS hockey players over the course of a season, the study revealed that clinically-diagnosed concussions are resulting in small, multimodal organic changes in the brains of athletes that have suffered them. The HCEP study adds that that a history of concussion may result in alterations of the brains white matter make-up. White matter affects how the brain learns and functions by transmitting signals from one part of the brain to the other. Also, comparisons between male and female athletes in the study showed that while male athletes had more significant Susceptibility Weighted Imaging (SWI) MRI findings, female athletes demonstrated a higher incidence of cconcussion. Nike Roshe Run Femme Soldes.   "What are our societal goals - will we foster the development of our young peoples cognitive, social and physical potential in a safe and protected environment - or will we continue to teach and reward a culture of violence and accepted brain injuries as part of the game?," said Dr. Paul Echlin, the lead author of the study. "Are we able to evolve and make significant or even radical changes in the sports themselves based on the scientific evidence of too many serious short and long-term brain injuries?" HCEP - conducted by Harvard Medical School/Brigham and the Womens Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital/Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging/Western University of Canada - has published peer-reviewed scientific findings twice (2010 and 2012) highlighting the high incidence of concussion and the damage inflicted on young hockey players.  For this study, the CIS players were asked to undergo MRIs at the beginning and end of the season. Those who had suffered concussions had MRIs within 72 hours of the brain injury and again at two weeks and at two months.   Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- A few smooth minutes on the field left Andy Dalton in a good mood. http://www.nflbroncosteamprostore.com/Youth-Brandon-Marshall-Elite-Jersey/ . Dalton completed his only pass and led the Bengals to a touchdown in his only drive -- one that took four minutes to finish -- and the Cincinnati Bengals ended the preseason with a 27-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night. The third-year quarterback wanted a crisp drive to finish the preseason. He got it. "We did what we wanted to do," Dalton said of the seven-play drive. "We drove down and scored -- had some good runs mixed in there and some conversions on passes. We did what we wanted the first offence to do." Cincinnati (3-1) has a few decisions left before starting the season, none bigger than picking Daltons backup. Josh Johnson followed Dalton for the second straight game and had a solid showing. He led the Bengals to a touchdown and a field goal in three possessions before halftime. Johnson scrambled twice for 38 yards on a touchdown drive that culminated in his 3-yard pass to Marvin Jones, showing his main advantage over John Skelton in the competition for the backup job. Overall, Johnson was 7 of 13 for 67 yards with three sacks. "I feel good," Johnson said. "I feel Ive improved weekly on everything Ive been asked to do and weve been able to get results on the field. Weve been able to put scoring drives together, finish drives. "But you never know. All you can do is put your best foot forward." Skelton, who was behind from the start of the competition to replace Bruce Gradkowski because hed never run a West Coast offence, played the second half and was 6 of 10 for 99 yards with one touchdown drive. The Bengals played most of their starters on offence and defence for one series only. Daltons brief appearance ended in Giovani Bernards 1-yard touchdown run. The Colts (2-2) rested most of their starters, including quarterback Andrew Luck. He and Dalton joked with each other on the field before the game. "One of the goals is to come out as healthy as you can and we did," coach Chuck Pagano said. Matt Hasselbeck started for Indianapolis and led a 12-play drive against most of the Bengals starters. Adam Vinatieri kicked a 43-yard field goal to complete it. Hasselbeck played two series and went 5 of 9 for 49 yards. Vinatieri also was wide left on a 52-yard attempt. Indianapolis starting defence hadnt allowed a touchdown the past two games. With the play-it-safe approach on Thursday, the results were less pleasing. "We didnt play very well at all," linebacker Pat Angerer said. "But well play better." The Bengals starters moved the ball easily against a Colts defence of mostly backups during their one series on the field. All-Pro receiver A.J. Green, who missed the first three weeks of camp with a bruised knee, played the series and drew an interference penalty from Josh Gordy in the end zone, setting up Giovani Bernards 1-yard run. Receiver Brandon Tate made more of an impact as a kick returner. Tates 51-yard kickoff return set up the touchdown. Tate also had a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown in the previous preseason game at Dallas. Both teams had reserves get hurt. Colts inside linebacker Kavell Conner and offensive tackle Emmett Cleary were treated for ankle injuries but returned. Receiver David Reed left with a concussion. Cornerback Daxton Swanson pulled a hamstring and didnt return. Bengals linebacker Emmanuel Lamur dislocated his right shoulder in the first quarter and was taken off the field on a cart. Guard Mike Pollak suffered a knee injury, but coach Marvin Lewis said it wasnt serious. http://www.nflbroncosteamprostore.com/Youth-Aqib-Talib-Elite-Jersey/ . The Kings have gone 6-0-3 over their last nine games despite having been held to three goals or fewer in eight of 10 contests this month. Los Angeles has failed to score more than two goals six times in that span.ST. LOUIS -- Alex Ovechkin took his place in the NHL record book and helped the Washington Capitals keep pace in the playoff race. Ovechkin became the 11th player in NHL history to score 50 more goals in a season five times and added two assists as the Capitals beat the slumping St. Louis Blues 4-1 on Tuesday night. The two points gave the Capitals 85, four behind Columbus for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Both the Blue Jackets and Capitals have three games left. "We talked this morning about all we can do is control our situation," Washington coach Adam Oates said. "Try and focus on tonight, get a win and see what happens tomorrow." The Blues clinched a playoff spot in the Western Conference a while ago, but their hopes of a Presidents Trophy are fading. Maxim Lapierre had the only goal for St. Louis, which has lost a season-high three straight. The Blues have been outscored 12-3 during the losing streak. St. Louis has scored two or fewer goals in nine of its last 11 games. "I thought the first period we were really good," St. Louis coach Ken Hitchcock said. "When we got down 3-1, we just seemed to lose our energy." Hitchcock said the Blues scoring problems are more than just the top lines not delivering. "I think its across the board," Hitchcock said. "When youre not scoring, you need to shoot, but its more the execution after we got down." Nicklas Backstrom scored twice and Mikhail Grabovski added another goal for the Capitals. Braden Holtby made 28 saves after he started over Jaroslav Halak, who played 40 games and recorded 24 wins for the Blues this season. Holtby also beat the Blues 4-1 on Nov. 17. "We got fortunate in some places, a broken stick on a wide-open shot and a few others where they just missed, but I think that was a credit to us pressuring them on those scoring chances," Holtby said. "Its a game of those llittle things and tonight we did that. http://www.nflbroncosteamprostore.com/Youth-Evan-Mathis-Elite-Jersey/. " Holtby said the Capitals have done what they had to do the last few games. "I think weve done a pretty good job of staying calm and just playing our game the last couple," Holtby said. "Its hard, its a tough thing, but we can only control what we can control now." Ovechkin, who added an assist, beat Ryan Miller with a one-timer from the left circle at 17:54 of the first period for his 50th goal overall and 23rd on the power play, both league highs. It is Ovechkins first 50-goal campaign since 2009-10 when he scored 50. His single-season high is 65 in the 2007-08 season. "It means a lot," Ovechkin said. "Thats a big number, and its going to be there my whole life." After Lapierre tied the game at 2:39 of the second period, Grabovski gave the Capitals the lead for good when he beat Miller with a slap shot from the left circle at 8:52 of the period. Ovechkin then gave Washington some insurance when he broke in down the right wing and fed Backstrom in the slot. Backstrom put it past Miller with 1:10 left in the second period to make it 3-1. "It was a great feed again," Backstrom said. "That was a seam pass there and that defenceman gave me a little room, so you have to take advantage of that." Washington began the third period on a power play and Backstrom put the game out of reach when he scored 16 seconds into the period. NOTES: Ovechkin is tied with Pavel Bure, Phil Esposito, Bobby Hull, Brett Hull and Steve Yzerman with five seasons of 50 or more goals. Mike Bossy and Wayne Gretzky accomplished that nine times, and Marcel Dionne, Guy Lafleur and Mario Lemieux had six such seasons. ... Alexander Steen returned to the Blues lineup after missing the last three games. ... Tuesday marked the first time the Capitals have been in St. Louis since Dec. 1, 2010, when they also beat the Blues 4-1. Cheap Jerseys Wholesale JerseysWholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '

Auston Barnes netted 14 points, Warren Jones scored 10 and Josh Cunningham had nine points and 11 boards for the Braves (6-11, 1-3), who were coming off a 66-56 loss to Evansville on Saturday. Deon Mitchells 3-pointer broke an early tie and ignited a 14-2 run that ended on a pair of Wes Washpun free throws, making it a 19-7 game nearly seven minutes in. After KaDarryl Bells layup, the Braves went over six minutes without scoring. During the drought, the Panthers scored 12 unanswered points and took a 31-9 lead on four straight free throws from Tuttle. Northern Iowa led 35-18 at halftime. Jesperson hit back-to-back triples for a 45-22 Panthers lead less than five minutes into the second half. Trailing by 22 points, Bradley used an 21-6 burst, which included 10 points from Jones, to get within 54-47 with 3:02 to play. Buss made two free throws with 1:29 to play, but Barnes went down the court and drained a 3-pointer to make it a two-possession game. Tuttle and Jeremy Morgan combined for seven made free throws with under a minute to play as the Panthers held on for the win. Game Notes Northern Iowa head coach Ben Jacobson won his 91st game against MVC teams to tie former Bradley coach Joe Stowell for ninth in conference history ... Floridas last win came last Saturday in Edmonton, as Tomas Kopecky and Sean Bergenheim scored third-period goals to help the Panthers notch the 4-2 victory at Rexall Place. However, the Panthers are 0-2 since that win and have been outscored by a 12-4 margin in those setbacks. After closing a six-game road trip with a lopsided 8-2 loss in Winnipeg on Tuesday, the Panthers returned home to drop a 4-2 decision in Thursdays clash with Colorado. Florida rallied from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1 to knot the score at 2-2 by the end of 40 minutes, but Colorado scored twice in the third period to earn the victory. Nick Holden scored the go-ahead goal on the power play at 11:03 of the third and Jarome Iginla added an empty-netter for the Avalanche in the final minute. Holden fired a point shot that deflected in off the stick of Panthers forward Scottie Upshall with one second left on a power play. I thought we worked hard, and we played good. I thought we were as good a team as they were, if not a little bit better, said Panthers coach Gerard Gallant. Disappointed to see that power-play goal happen late in the game. Roberto Luongo stopped 25-of-28 shots for Florida, which opened a five-game homestand following a 4-2-0 road trip. Aleksander Barkov and Aaron Ekblad scored the goals for the Panthers. Florida, which is five points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, fell to 9-6-3 as the host. Luongo is expected to start tonight and is 27-12-3 with a 2.29 goals against average inn his career against the Oilers. http://www.airforce1sale.nl/adidas-supercolor/supercolor-pack.html. Floridas No. 1 netminder stopped 31-of-33 shots in last weeks win in Edmonton. Floridas triumph last Saturday at Rexall Place halted a five-game slide in the series and was just the second win for the Panthers in the last 11 meetings. Edmonton has won in each of its last five trips to BB&T Center, but the last four wins of that stretch have come after regulation. Floridas last home win over the Oilers came in a 5-4 regulation decision on March 8, 2002. The Oilers, however, are just 2-12-7 on the road this season, and have lost 14 straight as the guest after dropping the first two games of a four-game trek that ends Tuesday in Washington. Edmonton dropped its third straight game overall in Thursdays 3-2 loss against Tampa Bay. The Oilers actually outshot the Atlantic Division-leading Lightning 32-19 in the game, but Ben Bishop made 30 saves to help Tampa pick up the close regulation win. The Oilers held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 against Tampa, but the Lightning rallied for the win thanks to a pair of third-period goals from Ondrej Palat. Edmonton received a pair of goals from Benoit Pouliot, but could not tie the game late. Pouliot has six tallies during a four-game goal streak Ben Scrivens made 16 saves on 19 shots in the loss. We had some great scoring opportunities, especially in the second, said Oilers coach Todd Nelson. We hit a couple posts and just didnt bury those chances. In the third, I think Tampa Bay cranked it up a notch. The Oilers havent won on the road since beating the New York Rangers on Nov. 9. The 0-8-6 away skid is the longest road losing streak in franchise history. Cheap Jerseys Wholesale JerseysWholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '

JOHNS, N.L. -- St. Johns IceCaps defenceman Ben Chiarots night went from despair to elation on Saturday, as his team beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-2 in overtime in American Hockey League action. Chiarot found himself on the end of a wide open puck just outside the slot with the third period winding down, but when he went to connect with the shot his stick exploded. Chiarot got a chance to redeem himself when he set up the game winner with 24.9 seconds left in overtime. "To keep this streak going, it feels great," he said, referring to the last nine games in which St. Johns has walked away with at least a point. "The boys are really excited." Adam Lowry scored the overtime winner, on a partial breakaway with a forehand-to-backhand move before hitting the backhand shot high, with 24.9 seconds left in the extra frame. Eric ODell and Andrew Gordon also scored for St. Johns (36-19-4). Scooter Vaughan and Aaron Ness scored the Sound Tigers (26-27-6). The teams combined for 48 penalty minutes, which shaped the way the game played out. "Not everyone gets out (to play)," Chiarot said. "Penalty killers dont usually play on the power play (and vice-versa). Depending on which way the calls are going, guys can get a little stuff on the bench. It seemed to even itself out in the end and the guys stayed in it." Bridgeport opened the scoring 7:00 into the game through Vaughan, who smashed a one-time slapshot in from the point on the power play. ODell tied the game for the IceCaps at the 12:48 mark of the first, finding a loose puck in front after Jason Jaffray had wrapped around the net. Ness added a short-handed goal for the Sound Tigers at the 13:36 mark of the first, gaining the zone and sniping high blocker with a wrist shot from the slot. The IceCaps tied the game on a power-play goal from Gordon, who wired a slapshot from the point high blocker at the 5:36 mark of the second period. Gordons goal was the turning point of the game, according to IceCaps head coach Keith McCambridge. "Our guys did a good job realizing it when we were down one goal," McCambridge said. "Andrew Gordons goal was a real big one for us to build some momentum. You have to give their goaltender credit, he was excellent at fighting through traffic." Mediate shot a 9-under 63 on Friday at Hualalai Golf Course, playing the first seven holes in 6-under with four birdies and a chip-in eagle on the par-5 seventh. He added birdies on Nos. 10, 14 and 18 -- holing a 15-footer from the fringe on the closing hole. "I almost didnt play. My left hip is really bothering me," said Mediate, a two-time winner last year in his first season on the 50-and-over tour after winning six times on the PGA Tour. "The chiropractors here are exceptional. I went out and told myself to try and play. It actually got better as the round went on. This came out of nowhere." (SportsNetwork. http://www.authenticjetsfanatic.com/c-23-jets-dee-milliner-jersey.aspx .com) - The Toronto Maple Leafs hope to pick up where they left off before the Olympic break when they visit the John Tavares-less New York Islanders in Thursdays clash at Nassau Coliseum.Toronto was one of several NHL teams that had hot streaks interrupted by the NHLs Olympic break. The Maple Leafs had won five of six right before the hiatus and the club is 11-2-1 over its last 14 games. With 70 points, the Maple Leafs are currently holding on to the seventh of eight playoff spots in the East. Toronto also is just one point in back of both Tampa Bay and Montreal for second place in the Atlantic Division. The top three teams in each division get an automatic bid to the postseason.Toronto is aiming to qualify for the postseason for the second straight spring. Last season the Leafs halted the longest playoff drought in franchise history by making the postseason for the first time since 2004.The Maple Leafs emerge from the break with a road-heavy schedule ahead of them over the next few weeks. Toronto, which is just 11-12-5 as the away club this season, will play two straight and eight of its next 10 on the road. The Islanders, meanwhile, get to continue a five-game homestand on Thursday, but theyll do so without the services of captain and star centerman Tavares.Tavares helped Team Canada win the Olympic tournament, although he missed the semifinals and gold medal game after suffering a partial tear in the MCL of his left knee. Although the injury was originally feared to be worse, it will still keep Tavares sidelined for the remainder of the regular season. However, he will not need surgery as was originally believed. The culmination of the regular season could mark the end of the 2013-14 campaign for the Islanders, who are already 14 points out of the Easts final playoff berth.Tavares, who expects to miss 8-to-12 weeks while recovering, is New Yorks leading scorer with 66 points and is tied for the team lead with 24 goals. HOUSTON – Any time Marcus Stroman is approached to discuss the successful start to his big league career, hes quick to credit two veteran teammates with helping his transition into the Blue Jays clubhouse. http://www.italiacalciostore.it/maglia-stefano-okaka.html . Hes talked about how Jose Bautista will approach him, even during his outings, to discuss how best to attack hitters. Stroman feeds off the advice, learning how big leaguers quickly make adjustments. Stroman also credits Mark Buehrle. The two talk pitching, naturally, but Buehrle has taken Stroman under his wing in other areas too. Most importantly is how to be a good rookie. "I think hes been doing the dumbest stuff and Ive had to call him out," said Buehrle. "I think the majority of stuff, pitching wise, Im not going to sit there and take credit for anything. Weve talked a few times about little things but I think the biggest thing that Ive tried to direct him and I tell every young guy that comes up, I say listen, I was a rookie, got picked on, I didnt like it. Youre going to get picked on, youre going to have to get your stuff done to you but if you have a question about where you need to be, what you need to wear, what you need to do, any of those questions come ask me and Im going to lead you in the right direction." Buehrle is glad to help because he experienced the other side of it. As a rookie with the White Sox in 2000, he asked veteran pitcher James Baldwin a rights-of-passage question and was intentionally misled, which resulted in Buehrle becoming the brunt of more jokes. "Ive always felt embarrassed and shy, I didnt enjoy it as much my first couple of years because I had no clue what to do and I asked the wrong guy and Im told to do the wrong stuff just to get picked on even more," said Buehrle. Last month in Anaheim as a bus was waiting to transport players to Angel Stadium, Stroman arrived in the lobby of the hotel wearing a pair of shorts. Josh Thole stopped him, Buehrle clarified the situation with the young pitcher, and Stroman went back to change into a pair of pants. Buehrle knows Stroman wasnt coming from a bad place. "He didnt even think, I cant wear shorts to the field. At home you can but on the road its one of those rules, I guess it started when I was told no tennis shoes, no shorts, no hats," said Buehrle. "Im just trying to pass on to the young guys and the guys on the pitching staff that hey, these are the rules when I came up, I feel theyre pretty good rules and they should continue. I dont think were asking too much." Buehrle got roughed up in his July 25 outing at Yankee Stadium, his shortest start in more than four years. His night was over and as he sat in the dugout, he caught Stroman in the middle of another baseball no-no. "I got my ass handed to me in the third inning, sitting there and I got taken out," said Buehrle. "I look over and I see him with a drink and a bag of chips in his hand, sitting there eating it. I wasnt really in the mood to tell him what to do, what not to do but I went over, Hey dude, you cant be having a bag of chips here on the bench." When a ballclub is on the road, there are two buses which take players from the hotel to the stadium. The veterans get the second bus unless they need to arrive at the ballpark early. Rookies are told to be first to work; to take the first bus. Stroman is diligent worker, always on time. "The pitching stuff, him working out, him doing whatever, I think he does a pretty good job at that, he doesnt really need to get talked to," said Buehrle. "Obviously hes got the talent and the stuff there but the other stuff, the rookie mistake stuff, Im there to direct him in the right direction." In spring training, Buehrle and Stroman were in the same practice group. One morning, the group went to the wrong diamond to begin the day. The result: a missed drill. The veterans teased Stroman, blaming him for the mishap. It wasnt his fault, just good-natured ribbing, but Buehrle told Stroman it was up to the youngster to know the schedule and lead the older guys to the right spots. "He came up to me, Hey, weve got to be on Field Two, then we go to Field Three so he kind of told me where we need to be," said Buehrle. Stromans got his own style. Follow him on Twitter and youll often see photos of his latest suit, bowtie, a pair of shoes hes just purchased. "Weve worn him out," said Buehrle. "In New York he wore those bright shoes and (we told him) Hey, make sure youre not focusing on those shoes, make sure youre focusing on pitching." Stroman, according to Buehrle, hasnt worn the shoes since. "He likes flashy stuff. Im not going to talk him out of it. I think its too much because Im not that way but some guys need that to succeed," said Buehrle. About the suits: Stroman was over the moon in New York after Buehrle took him, Todd Redmond, Rob Rasmussen, Aaron Sanchez and Ryan Goins to an exclusive shop for a suit fitting. Call it tradition, Buehrle passing on to others what Ken Griffey Jr. once did for him in Chicago. He clearly would have preferred the suit story not be made public. Buehrle never seeks additional attention. "It was a sign that hey, Im asking you to do some rookie stuff and youre doing it and youre being a sport about it and youre going about it the right way then this is kind of a thank you for being a good sport about it," said Buehrle. He sees a bright future for the Blue Jays on the mound. Buehrle is a believer in each of Stroman, Aaron Sanchez and Drew Hutchison. "Id give my left arm to take some of their talents and what theyre throwing now," said Buehrle. "Thats what Ive said with this whole trade deadline thing brought up, I dont know what teams were asking for but if its one of those guys its tough to get rid of because thats going to be the face of your franchise." Stromans confident. Hes got swagger. Maybe therell come a time when it rubs an opposing hitter or team the wrong way. But the last word about Stroman goes to Buehrle, a pretty good judge of character. "Hes a good kid." Italia Calcio Maglia . Both sides are having domestic troubles going into their meeting in Tuesdays Champions League round of 16 first-leg match, but it is arguably Barcelona which has more to prove. Saturdays 3-2 loss at Osasuna, coupled with Real Madrids 4-2 win over Levante on Sunday, left the defending Spanish champion 10 points behind its bitter rival, which has dropped only eight points all season. http://www.italiacalciostore.it/uomo-2016-europei-emanuele-giaccherini-italia-maglia-replica-puma-23-calcio-blu-prima-manica-lunga-maglietta-uefa-europei-calcio-campionato.html . According to the Winnipeg Free Press, the Blue Bombers confirmed that linebacker Henoc Muamba and wide receiver Chris Matthews worked out with the NFLs Minnesota Vikings after the window for free agents opened on December 1.I have almost no idea what to say anymore about conclusions and sports and because I never played any other sport at a high level, I would never speculate or conclude about what to do out of respect to that sport. I was casually listening to the radio and my interest piqued as the narrative of high school football was beginning. In the report and discussion, it was stated that a study was done on high school football players that over the course of just one year, there had been damage to the brain of a high percentage of players throughout the course of a single season. This was quite eye-opening because I always figured that it took collective years to see significant damage and violent pro football-type hits to create the damage necessary to have cognitive results. I guess, or maybe simply should say I was wrong to have a timeframe in my mind. Then on Monday, I was reading USA Today and on page 3 of the sports is a story of Kosta Karageorge, who was an Ohio State football player who took his life at age 22. He was a walk-on and knowing what I know about walk-ons in Division 1 football, he was a demonstration player which means he did a lot of hitting. Both educations to me, one auditory and one visual reading, got me thinking about concussions and football; that something is really wrong here but what to do I am embarrassed to say I really dont know. Sometimes I think that some people through genetics unfortunately just have a type of brain that absorbs the punishment more than rejects it. Having only the basics in brain physiology at university, I have no real idea, more of a theory but when you think of someone at 22 who had a concussion history doing what he did and a report about the effects of high school football, it does make your mind search for answers. I had three bad concussions dduring my college and pro career and remember the details of all three.http://www.italiacalciostore.it/uomo-daniele-padelli-italia-maglia-2016-puma-26-calcio-bianca-authentic-seconda-uefa-europei-campionato-manica-lunga-maglietta.html. And like many who have played football, Ive had many subtle moments of disorientation after unavoidable shots to the head. Fortunately, I feel fine and I think that is an issue because when you feel fine, you lose that ability to deeply relate. I have said if I had a son, I would hesitate to let him play football and this is from a person who has an occupation to promote the game. But I cant say with conviction that I would if I had. I know two players that are different after their careers and, out of respect, would never highlight them. And I wonder if there are others out there that I dont know about that live in quiet desperation. Are my perceptions changing about football? Yes, they are; not is a dramatic way but more in a way of conclusive awareness of a price you may pay. And I say may because there are also many football players who have been retired for many years like me that have no problems. Concussions in sports are still in a grey area but a grey area just through repetition does not paint a positive future. Maybe it is the study of genetics and mans mastery of that knowledge base that could perceive the future and keep people safe that are suspect before they play. I will be the first one to put football in its proper place. It is a sport and only a sport. Good things happen out of it but the sport has little significance to what is important. Yet people pay a price later in life for action taken in the youth of life. I wonder if were all in denial and 30 seconds later. I wonder if it is a slight overeaction because health care is better than ever. But what really bothers me is I wonder why I have no idea what to say or conclude anymore. It is not that I am numb, more confused. Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
Barring a miracle – and that is not an exaggeration – it will be Canada versus the United States in the womens hockey gold medal game Feb. Nike Air Max Thea Zwart Sale . 20 in Sochi. Why? Because they always meet in the final, right? Well, nearly always. Sweden somehow managed to make it into the gold medal game at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. But in the 19 Olympic and World Championship final games since womens hockey arrived on the international stage in 1999, it has been Canada against the United States 18 times. Canada begins by facing Switzerland on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. in their first game of the tournament - watch it live on CBC TV and streaming at cbc.ca/olympics. The mere fact Canada has won the past three of four gold medals at the Olympics – losing only in Nagano in 1998 – would make them the favorites in the eyes of many. However, their victories in the last three Olympic Games really have nothing to do with this years tournament. More relevant is the fact the United States defeated Canada in the last four meetings of their seven-game pre-Olympic exhibition series. Canada is the defending Olympic champion, but the Americans have a little swagger. Dan Church knows that as well as anybody. Church resigned as coach of the Canadian womens Olympic team in December and was replaced by former Florida Panthers coach Kevin Dineen. Team USA is deep at every position. They also have scoring at every position – forward and defence – and they have a lot of speed. “Their young forwards especially are extremely quick,” Church said. “If you give them room in the neutral zone theyll always find a way to create. They are really gifted at getting the puck into the scoring area; even if its not a direct shot just getting it there so now your defenders and goaltender really have to be on top of things. They are always creating offence with their speed.” Canada will need to have a forward to force the Americans to one half of the ice surface and break off their speed and their ability to attack or counterattack. Scoring problems Even if its overall team speed doesnt match that of the United States, Canada traditionally can hold its own with any team in the world in terms of offence, and is better than most. That said, Canada has had some difficulty scoring, particularly against the United States, leading up to the Sochi Games. Rebecca Johnston, a scoring machine at Cornell for four seasons, has speed and skill and the ability to take it to the front of the net. The 25-year-old had a goal and six points in five games at the 2010 Olympics and will be expected to exceed those numbers this year. Jenn Wakefield, 24, has plenty of international experience, but is making her Olympic debut. She is another go-to forward for Canada. Of course there are also veterans Hayley Wickenheiser, Jayna Hefford and Caroline Ouellette, all of whom can dominate a game. Wickenheiser in particular can be a dangerous scorer when she is shooting the puck. Hefford is strong around the net and Ouellette remains an offensive catalyst. As for Canadas young players, Natalie Spooner is a power forward with great hands and Megan Agosta-Marciano can be a world beater when shes playing at her best. Countering for Team USA will be Kelli Stack. She is a game-breaker and every time shes on the ice she can create for herself and her teammates. Stack has great vision. “She is an offensive threat every time she touches the puck,” Church said. “You always have to worry about her. She is the offensive catalyst for the team.” Amanda Kessel, the younger sister of Toronto Maple Leafs star Phil, is also a really strong player. Like her brother, she has speed to burn and plenty of offensive upside. She was the collegiate national player of the year with the University of Minnesota in 2013. Physically, Canada has an edge over the United States, but the Americans do not fear Canadas physical game - just as Canada believes it can overcome USAs speed. In the end, it could come down to goaltending. Canada believes its three goalies, Shannon Szabados, Charline Labonte and Genevieve Lacasse, could all backstop the team to a gold in Sochi. Szabados will be the starter and is looking for her second Olympic gold medal as a starter. Early in the season it seemed like Team USA was leaning toward Jessie Vetter getting the job as the starter, but down the stretch, Molly Schaus got more action. Schaus is better technically, but Vetter is very athletic. The starter will likely be the goalie the coaching staff feels is the hotter of the two entering the tournament. The bottom line for Canada is that it can win a fourth straight gold in Sochi, but reputation at this tournament means squat. Its not about what was; its about what is.Goedkope Nike Air Max Dames . The All-Star point guard will miss at least two weeks with a strained biceps tendon, but hes hopeful his season is not over. "If you could take a positive from the situation, obviously that would be one, that at this point, I dont have to get surgery, which is tremendous," Irving said following shootaround Tuesday at the Cleveland Clinic Courts. Clevelands leading scorer got hurt Sunday night in a loss against the Los Angeles Clippers. An MRI taken Monday revealed the strain, but not a tear, which would have ended Irvings season. Its still not a certainty hell be back, but the Cavs will rest him for two weeks before making any decisions. With 15 games left, the Cavs enter their home matchup against Miami five games behind Atlanta for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. It was going to be a challenge for the Cavs to make up any ground with Irving, and now without him, theyre in a major bind. The 21-year-old was trying to strip the ball from Clippers forward Blake Griffin when his tendon gave out. "One of those freak plays against a strong individual in Blake," Irving said. "I tried to get the ball out of his hands. I knew something was wrong when I came to the bench. Obviously, I just felt just a weird feeling after that play in my shoulder. My arm looked a little different in the biceps area. Thats when I kknew that I strained it. Nike Air Max Zero 2015. " Irving will miss at least eight games. Hes already sat out 41 in three NBA seasons, leading some to label him as injury prone. Its still possible he may need an operation, but Irving is trying to be optimistic. "Well see in two weeks," he said. "Im not going to give a definitive answer bect this point, Im just going to continue to support my teammates and be on the sideline. Whatever the medical team needs me to do and whatevers in my best interests, Im going to do." With his best player out, Cavs coach Mike Brown will start Dion Waiters in the backcourt with Jarrett Jack. Cleveland could get back C.J. Miles, who has missed 12 games with a sprained ankle. Waiters has provided a spark off the bench all season, and said hes going start with the same mindset hes had as a reserve. "Just going out there playing my game, let everything come to me," he said. "Dont go out there and try to press and do things I normally dont do. Just play the game and have fun." Waiters says all the Cavs have to step it up with Irving sidelined. "Kyrie is the best player on the team," Waiters said. "But it gives other guys the chance to play and show coach things they can do. Weve got to pick it up. Everybody has to be together and play for each other. Thats the biggest thing losing a huge piece like that. We have to play the game, move the ball and have fun out there." Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
