WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane was being assessed by a doctor Wednesday after hurting his leg in practice. http://www.bearsnflfansmall.com/c-26-bears-sherrick-mcmanis-jersey.aspx . Kane got tangled up along the boards with Anthony Peluso, and Peluso appeared to fall on Kanes right leg. Kane was seen holding his leg in pain and he was helped off the ice. Coach Claude Noel described the injury as a "tweak," but said Kane is listed as day-to-day until they have him assessed and find out the seriousness. Kane has been one of the most energetic members of Winnipegs offence in their first seven games of the season, with three goals and two assists. The Jets (3-4-0) are at home this week to face the St. Louis Blues Friday. http://www.bearsnflfansmall.com/c-19-bears-zach-miller-jersey.aspx . The 2005 Paris champion won five straight games in the first set to rally from a 3-1 deficit, hitting 12 winners to only three for Verdasco. Berdych then broke the Spaniard twice for a 5-2 lead in the second set but wasted four match points to let Verdasco level at 5-5. http://www.bearsnflfansmall.com/c-37-bears-pat-odonnell-jersey.aspx . It was almost exactly like the way Babcocks Team Canada won gold at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The result was a 2-1 Red Wings victory on Swedish Olympian Gustav Nyquists rebound goal with 28 seconds left in overtime.ST. LOUIS - The Arizona Cardinals know all too well the feeling of seeing their quarterback leaving the field in pain.It happened the last time the Cardinals (11-3) faced the St. Louis Rams, then again in the rematch Thursday night. The only silver lining: They found a way to win both times and are on the verge of clinching a playoff berth after slugging out a 12-6 win behind Chandler Catanzaros four field goals.Im glad we dont have to play the Rams anymore. Both times we played them, they banged our quarterbacks up, receiver Larry Fitzgerald said after being limited to 30 yards and seven catches. Its unfortunate.Drew Stanton hopped off the field after getting sacked by Aaron Donald in the third quarter, and coach Bruce Arians wasnt sure about the extent of the injury to his right knee. Stanton, who became the starter after Carson Palmer suffered a season-ending injury in the last game against the Rams last month, was expected to get an MRI on Friday.Well take it very slowly with him and see how it goes. Arians said.Stantons injury forced Ryan Lindley into his first playing time since 2012. He completed his first pass to set up a 51-yard field goal by Catanzaro, then had a 14-yard pass to John Brown on third-and-7 to spark a drive that led to Catanzaros 44-yarder and a 12-3 lead early in the fourth quarter.Lindley started four games for Arizona as a rookie in 2012 and was cut by the Cardinals in training camp this year. He was signed off San Diegos practice squad after Palmer got hurt, but has hardly practiced with the teams top players. For him to come in in this type of situation, a hostile environment with all the implications going into this game, he did an amazing job, Fitzgerald said. Some things to know from the Cardinals win over the Rams (6-8) that officially eliminated St. Louis from the playoff race:SHUTOUT STREAK SNAPPED: The Rams hadnt allowed a point in nine straight quarters before Arizonas Larry Foote recovered Tre Masons fumble at the St. Louis 27, leading to a second-quarter field goal. The back-to-back shutouts against Washington and Oakland had been the franchises first since 1945.The difference in this ballgame was the ability to get the ball in the end zone. I thought our defence played well enough for us to win, coach Jeff Fisher said. But in situations like this when your offence is struggling against a good defence, somebodys got to make a play. The Rams still havent given up a touchdown since the fourth qquarter of a Nov.http://www.bearsnflfansmall.com/c-25-bears-eddie-royal-jersey.aspx. 23 loss at San Diego.ARIANS UNPLUGGED: In his postgame news conference, Arians made it known that he was none too happy about the last-place Rams being favoured against his first-place Cardinals.I love it when nobody says youre going to have a chance to win. Theres an 11-3 team and a team thats always 8-8, Arians said. You figure it out.Arians stuck it to the Rams offensive line while praising his D-line: I thought that our defensive line whipped their offensive line pretty solid. When they were making tackles behind the line of scrimmage, there was usually an offensive lineman holding onto their legs but somehow those flags never got called. But we were tackling them for losses, so it didnt matter. And about that Rams defence?Everybody talking all that stuff about how great their defence is, they saw a good defence tonight. It was in red and white.LARRY LEGEND: With his fourth catch of the game, coming in the second quarter, Fitzgerald became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 900 career receptions. Fitzgerald, 31, is more than a full year younger than Andre Johnson was when he reached the milestone.Im glad to finally get it behind me so I can just get on and worry about the things that really matter, Fitzgerald said. Its nice to be able to accomplish that in 11 years.KICKIN IT: All of the games points came from kickers coming off shaky performances.Catanzaro, an undrafted rookie out of Clemson, missed two of his five field-goal attempts against Kansas City — including a 34-yarder with 69 seconds left that failed to extend a three-point lead. There was no need to talk to him all week. Hes a talented, talented young fella. He just had a bad day at the office last week, Arians said.St. Louis Greg Zuerlein had missed an extra point and two short field goals in the first half last week against Washington. He rebounded with makes from 24 and 19 yards.SEATTLE SHOWDOWN: No matter whos at quarterback, Arizona could have a chance to wrap up the division title next week against Seattle and finish a perfect 8-0 at home.Thats a special game, to win a T-shirt, that hat: NFC West champs, said linebacker Larry Foote, who had a sack and a fumble recovery. Were going to play a great team in our place.Lindley said he has a leg up on preparation because he studied the Seahawks when he was still with the Chargers, then again when the Cardinals faced the defending Super Bowl champs in November. Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys ChinaWholesale Jerseys ' ' '
TORONTO - The Raptors organization and its fans can breathe a sigh of relief after receiving positive news regarding the status of injured point guard Kyle Lowry.Cheap Authentic NFL Jersey . Lowry will wear a splint on his non-shooting hand to protect an injured left ring finger tendon for approximately six weeks, however, he is still expected to participate in practices and play in games once the regular season begins next week, the team announced Thursday evening. The starting point guard sustained the injury during Wednesdays victory over Memphis when his finger popped out while reaching for a loose ball late in the third quarter. Attending a follow-up examination, Lowry was absent from practice Thursday morning and did not accompany the team to Milwaukee. He will miss Torontos final exhibition game against the Bucks on Friday but should be ready to go when the Raptors host Boston in the season opener on Oct. 30. The Raptors catch a lucky break as long as Lowry is active and in the lineup, even if hes playing at less than 100 per cent. Given the uncertainty off the bench at that position - neither D.J. Augustin nor rookie Dwight Buycks has stood out in the preseason - Lowry is expected to get the bulk of the playing time at the point this season. Coach Dwane Casey has hinted at a possible platoon with the back-up point guard role, depending on match-ups and who has the hot hand, alternating between Augustin and Buycks heading into the season. With Lowry sidelined for Fridays preseason finale, Casey should get a good look at his reserves. Julyan Stone, who is still battling for the final roster spot but has been used to spell Lowry at the point during camp, is also nursing an injury after taking a knee to his surgically repaired right hip on Wednesday. He was a non-participant in Thursdays practice and is consider day-to-day. Centre Jonas Valanciunas was limited in practice, able to participate in non-contact drills after taking an elbow to the face a couple minutes after Lowrys injury. Valanciunas needed three stitches to patch up a laceration to his chin and was still sore on Thursday but insisted he was feeling better and will also be good to go next week when the games count. "I feel not bad," he said. "[I] still need a couple days but Im feeling good so Im going to be ready for the first [regular] season game." Tyler Hansbrough, who tweaked his right thumb Wednesday, was a full-participant in practice. Raptors exercise team options on Valanciunas and Ross The Raptors also announced they have picked up third-year options on the rookie contracts of sophomores Valanciunas and Terrence Ross. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed. The team had until Oct. 31 to exercise its option on both players. Valanciunas, 21, was named to the 2012-13 NBA All-Rookie Second Team after averaging 8.9 points and 6.0 rebounds in his first season with the Raptors. Ross, 22, averaged 6.4 points and 2.0 rebounds as a rookie last season, winning the 2013 Slam Dunk competition at All-Star weekend. Both of their contracts are now guaranteed through the 2014-15 season. Cheap Jeseys NFL .com) - Jonathan Holmes scored 17 of his 19 points in a lopsided second half as No. Jerseys From China . STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Swedish Alpine skiing star Anja Paerson says she will retire after the final World Cup races of the season this week, ending a career in which she won one gold among six Olympic medals. Injuries, especially to her left knee, have prevented her from competing at her highest level recently, Paerson said in a statement posted on the Swedish ski federations website Monday. The 30-year-old Paerson won 19 medals at major championships, has won 42 World Cup races since her debut in 1998 and clinched two overall titles, in 2004 and 2005. Having won bronze in the slalom at the 2002 Salt Lake Games, she returned four years later to capture gold in the same event in Turin. All up at three Olympics, she won four bronzes and a silver to go with her gold. The races in Schladming, Austria, this week will be her last. "My career has been fantastic and Ive achieved more than I could ever dream of," Paerson said. "The last years, with all the spectacular crashes and protracted injury problems, have reduced my chances to perform at the top level. "I have always been a fighter and this is a tough decision, but after some time of thoughts and many discussions with myself I feel Im ready for new challenges in my life. Pirates #27 Jung-ho Kang White New Cool Base Stitched MLB Jersey. ." Paerson was the first skier in history to win World Championship gold medals in all five disciplines. She said the highlights of her career included her three gold medals at the 2007 worlds in Are, Sweden, and her bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She opened those games in Whistler with a horrendous crash in the downhill -- sliding across the finish line headfirst -- then came back 24 hours later to win bronze in super-combined. "I just couldnt let the hill in Whistler defeat me," Paerson said. "In addition, Ill always remember the great duels between me and Janica Kostelic, and other fantastic skiers." Paerson said she would serve on the Athletes Commission of the international ski federation for another year. The Swedish Ski Association said Paersons "achievements will always be in the hearts of the Swedish people." Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap JerseysCheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '

Bach reiterated his confidence that Russia will provide "safe and secure" games without taking away from a festive Olympic atmosphere. Russia is mounting a massive security operation for the games, which open Feb. 7 amid threats of attacks from Muslim insurgents from the North Caucasus region. "We have full confidence in the host country and we also know that Russia and the Russian (security) services are working closely with different international services in order to ensure that all the participants and spectators in the games can feel safe and secure," Bach said in a conference call with reporters. On a separate issue, Bach repeated that Russia has promised that athletes and spectators will not face any discrimination based on sexual orientation. Russia enacted a law last year banning gay "propaganda" among minors. Bach said athletes are free to speak out on any political issues at news conferences at the games, but are prohibited from doing so on the medal podium or other Olympic sites. "Its very clear that the games cannot be used as a stage for political demonstrations," he said. "The IOC will take, if necessary, individual decisions based on the individual case. On the other hand, the athletes, of course, enjoy the freedom of speech. So, if in a press conference they want to make a political statement, then they are absolutely free to do so." More than 50,000 police and military personnel are being deployed to guard Russias first Winter Games. An Islamic militant group in Dagestan claimed responsibility for two suicide bombings that killed 34 people in late December in Volgograd and threatened to attack the games in Sochi. Russian security officials have been hunting for three potential female suicide bombers, one of whom is believed to be in Sochi itself. Bach said the International Olympic Committee remains in constant ccontact with Russia about the security measures. http://www.blackhawkshockeyjerseys.com/Duncan-Keith-Jersey/. Asked whether hes worried, he said, "Im sorry to tell you Im sleeping very well." "Im really looking forward to the first Winter Games under my presidency and Im very confident they will be successful," said the German, who was elected head of the IOC in September, succeeding Jacques Rogge after 12 years in office. Bach compared the security situation to that of the 2002 Salt Lake City Games in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks in the U.S. "In Salt Lake City there were thousands of security people around the place and people still felt fine and appreciated seeing that security was being taken seriously," he said. "I think the security forces can operate in a way that doesnt affect the atmosphere." Bach also defended Russias massive spending on the games. The $51 billion price tag — which includes the cost of roads, railways, hotels and other projects — is a record for any Olympics. Bach said Russia was using the Olympics as a "catalyst" to transform the region and create a winter sports complex for the entire country. Its up to host nations, he said, to decide how — and how much — they invest in long-term infrastructure projects. The spending on the Sochi Olympics has been engulfed in claims of kickbacks and other corruption. On Monday, anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny claimed that Russia spent twice as much as necessary to build at least 10 of the Olympic venues. Bach said the IOC stands "against any form of corruption," adding that he hopes people can differentiate "between just a general claim and concrete information." In general, Bach said, the Olympic atmosphere is building up in Sochi as the games approach. Referring to concerns about warm weather in the subtropical area, he said there was "plenty of snow" and more was forecast for later in the week. "I think overall we can say Sochi is ready to welcome the best winter athletes of the world," Bach said. Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
LONDON -- Imagine what the reception will be like for Andy Murray on Monday when he first strides onto the green grass of Centre Court at Wimbledon. Kellen Winslow Navy Blue Jersey . A year ago, Murray became the first British man since Fred Perry in 1936 to win the singles title at a tournament the locals refer to simply as "The Championships," ending a nations long wait and sparking talk of a knighthood. This year, Murray gets the defending champions honour of playing the fortnights first match on the most famous tennis court in the world. Seems safe to say that 15,000 or so of his closest friends will greet him with a full-throated roar. "As the time gets nearer, and, you know, I get ready to play the first match on Monday, Ill definitely ... be excited about it," Murray said. "I will be nervous. It (is) an experience; something I have never experienced before. Players have talked about it in the past, that its a great experience. But it can also be a nerve-racking one." Murray had a slow start this season, coming off back surgery, and he hasnt reached a final since Wimbledon 50 weeks ago. But he showed hes on the way back to peak form by reaching the semifinals at the French Open. Performing that well on clay would seem to bode well for what he can do on grass. "I expect to play well there. Im really looking forward to going back. I think it will give me a lot of positive energy," Murray said. "Im glad Im back playing to a level that was able to get me through to the last stage of Slams." As for how Murray will handle whatever jitters accompany his first trip back to the site of his most significant victory, his peers think hell be just fine. "The way hes got himself back into shape again, I think he can really believe again. Thats whats most important now," said Roger Federer, who won seven of his record 17 major championships at Wimbledon and is coming off a grass title at Halle, Germany. "(Being) defending champion is never an easy thing. But then again, he played so well on grass the last few years. ... I would feel comfortable if I was Andy at this point." Novak Djokovic, the 2011 champion and runner-up to Murray last year, agreed. "Im sure that Andy, with all the experience he has playing in the big matches, and especially here in front of his home crowd, understands and knows the way how to handle the pressure and expectation," Djokovic said. "So I expect him to do well." The other reigning singles champion, Frances Marion Bartoli, will not try to defend her title, announcing her retirement at 28, less than six weeks after the 2013 final. That actually fits well with the quirky career of Bartoli, who certainly did things her way, down to her two-fisted strokes for forehands, backhands and volleys. While Murrays baseline game is rather conventional by todays standards, his coaching decisions have been groundbreaking. After parting in March with Ivan Lendl -- whose hiring was followed by those of fellow past greats of the game Stefan Edberg (by Federer) and Boris Becker (by Djokovic) -- Murray picked former womens No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo as a replacement this month. "All Im interested in is to be able to help him (reach) his goals," Mauresmo said. "Thats about it." Murray, who grew up in Dunblane, Scotland, has made plain that those aims are primarily about winning more Grand Slam trophies. He earned his first at the 2012 U.S. Open, shortly after winning a gold medal at the London Olympics. Those triumphs followed his loss to Federer at Wimbledon that year. In 2013, Murray beat Djokovic in the Wimbledon final to end the 77-year drought. Scotlands vote in September about whether to break away from Britain -- Murray has steadfastly avoided weighing in -- will be a popular topic of conversation around London this summer, and with Englands early elimination from the World Cup, the attention on "Our Andy" at Wimbledon figures to be as strong as ever. "Anytime you taste what it feels like to win it once, you obviously want to win it again. So theres an element of pressure you put on yourself, for starters, because you sort of want to see what that feels like at least one more time," said ESPN analyst John McEnroe, who won Wimbledon three times. "From that standpoint, hes going to be feeling pressure. Clearly now once people know he can do it, theyre going to think he should do it again." Dan Fouts Black Jersey . This is the second straight game the Badgers will play in the city of Milwaukee, as they went up against Marquette last Saturday. They came away with a 49-38 victory in that contest, allowing them to bounce back from their first loss of the season, an 80-70 setback at home against Duke. They will be back at the Kohl Center on Saturday against Nicholls. Milwaukee had won back-to-back games entering its last contest, but an 83-61 loss to DePaul put an end to its hopes for a three-game win streak. The Panthers are now 4-5 overall, although that includes a 3-1 mark at home, where they will be in their next game as well against Montana. Wisconsin has an absolute stranglehold on this rivalry, with 30 wins in 31 previous meetings. The Badgers rolled to a 78-52 victory last season. Milwaukees one and only victory against the Badgers came during the 1992-93 season. There wasnt much offense to be found in Wisconsins matchup with Marquette. The Badgers and Golden Eagles combined for only 30 field goals, with Wisconsin shooting 32.7 percent from the field in the contest. They did grind out a 41-28 edge on the boards, which proved useful, led by a 15-point, 10-rebound effort from Frank Kaminsky. Kaminsky (16.4 ppg, 8.9 ppg, 2.2 apg, 2.2 bpg) is thee star of this squad and has been performing well to this point. LaDainian Tomlinson Game Jersey. He leads the team in scoring, rebounds and blocked shots, while proving to be a solid passer out of the post. Nigel Hayes (11.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg) provides a strong presence on the glass and the scoreboard as well, while Sam Dekker (10.7 ppg) and Traevon Jackson (10.1 ppg) stretch the floor a bit. However, John Gasser (6.7 pg) was the only other double-digit scorer against Marquette, netting 12 points, all of which came from beyond the arc (4-of-8). Milwaukee also struggled offensively in its last game. The only problem was that unlike the Badgers, the Panthers could not slow down their opponent. While they made a meager 37.5 percent of their shots from the floor, including 4-of-23 from beyond the arc, DePaul drilled 10 3-pointers and finished with a stellar .531 field goal percentage overall. Steve McWhorter and J.R. Lyle each had 13 points in the loss. The Panthers have generally managed less-than-impressive offensive showings. They are netting 66.2 points per game and shooting at a 42.7 percent clip from the floor. On defense, they are allowing 67.6 ppg on 41.7 percent accuracy. McWhorter (16.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.4 apg) is the leading scorer and much more for the squad, leading in assists and steals (1.7 spg) as well. He is the only player averaging in double figures, with Lyle (9 ppg) and Cody Wichmann (8.2 ppg) the next best options. Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Chicago scored in a variety of ways to produce the Cubs best offensive nights of the young season. Johnny Herrera Jersey . Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run homer before drawing a career-high four walks and Nate Schierholtz drove in three runs, rallying Chicago over the Cincinnati Reds 9-4 Wednesday night. Starlin Castro went 3 for 4 with two doubles for the Cubs, who matched their season-high in runs on the way to their second win in their last three games following a four-game losing streak. "We had good at-bats all night," Rizzo said. "Schierholtz had a huge at-bat in the ninth." Brayan Pena hit a solo homer for the Reds, who have lost four of five. Edwin Jackson (2-2) beat Cincinnati for the second time this year, allowing four runs and five hits in 5 2-3 innings. Brian Schlitter, Wesley Wright, Neil Ramirez and Hector Rondon combined for two-hit relief. "Its a good feeling," Jackson said about turning the game over to the bullpen. "We have confidence in those guys. Were confident that theyre going to come in and pick up the slack." With the score tied 3-3 in the fifth, the Cubs loaded the bases with no outs against reliever Nick Christiani (0-1). Mike Olt hit into an RBI forceout, and Schierholtz followed with a sacrifice fly. Manager Rick Renteria wasnt surprised to see his Cubs string together productive at-bats. "Weve been having a tough time trying to tack on runs and score runs," he said. "Today was an example of what we can do. "It was a good day all around," the first-year manager added. "(Jackson) kept us in the game and the relief pitching did a nice job." Schierholtz added a two-run single off Sean Marshall against a drawn-in infield in a four-run ninth. "It was good to see Nate get a hit there," Renteria said. Chicago needed just three batters to take a 2-0 lead in the first on Emilio Bonifacios leadoff single and the left-handed hitting Rizzos 426-foot, opposite-field homer to left-centre off of left-hander Tony Cingrani. "Its really early," Rizzo said. "Im just trying not to do too much, especially against left-handers. Im not trying to get three hits in one at-bat." Todd Frazier tied the score with a two-out, two-run double in the half. Pena, signed by the Reds as a free agent in November, gave the Reds a 3-2 lead when he homered leading off the second -- his first home run since Aug. 11. His previous NL homer was for Atlanta against the Marlins on April 13, 2007. Castros single tied the score in the third. Cincinnati starter Tony Cingrani gave up three runs and six hits in four innings. "Im just a little fatigued," said Cingrani, whose velocity noticeably dropped in his last inning. "I was labouring. I dont know what it is about the first inning. Ive just got to pitch." Cingrani denied that he was having back problems, which forced him to spend time on the disabled list last season. "My back is fine," he said. "Ill make some minor adjustments and see how it goes." Manager Bryan Price believes his left-hander is simply in a slump. "Cingrani wasnt real sharp," he said. "His velocity started to back down that last inning. I didnt think we should send him back out there and expect different results. Other than his first starts against St. Louis, hes been finding his way. We just want to make sure hes strong. He hasnt been sharp lately." Brandon Phillips had an RBI single in the fifth, his eighth hit in his last 46 at bats (.174). NOTES: Reds manager Bryan Price confirmed that LHP Aroldis Chapman will start and pitch one inning for Class A Dayton on Thursday in the first game of his minor league injury rehabilitation assignment. Price expects Chapman to make four appearances over seven to 10 days in the minors. Chapman had a plate inserted above his left eye to heal fractures from a line drive on March 19. ... The new format unveiled for the 2014 playoffs was designed to force more geographical rivalries in the first few rounds. CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith has been ruled out for Sundays game against the Atlanta Falcons. Panthers coach Ron Rivera made the announcement following Fridays practice, adding that running back Jonathan Stewart (knee) and defensive tackle Colin Cole (calf) will not play either. Smith sprained his left knee during Carolinas 17-13 win over New Orleans last Sunday. The win assured the Panthers a playoff spot, but this weeks game looms even larger. Carolina (11-4) can wrap up the NFC South division title and a first-round bye by beating the Falcons. "Steve has actually improved a lot," Rivera said. "In Steves way he basically said if I had to I would play this weekend. He probably couldnt, but he would try." Rivera, however, said the team doesnt want to risk losing Smith for the playoffs. "Not a chance," Rivera said. "Its about going forward. This game is very important and we know it. But there are other things ahead, too." Rivera said if the Panthers dont win the NFC South and secure a first-round bye, he expects Smith would be ready to play next Sunday in the wild-card round of the playoffs. Smith leads the team with 67 receptions for 774 yards and five touchdowns. Ted Ginn Jr. is expected to start at wide receiver for Smith, but Domenik Hixon will see increased action. Falcons coach Mikke Smith acknowledged earlier in the week his team will probably alter how it defends the Panthers if Smith doesnt play. Cristopher Toselli Chile Jersey. "Steve Smith is one of the most competitive, not just wide receivers, football players that Ive been fortunate enough or, weve been fortunate enough, to compete against," Smith said. "He brings a lot of energy. He brings a lot of passion to the way he plays the game. You do defend a little bit differently when Steve Smith is in the game based on where hes aligned and what the down and distance is, because to me hes one of the marquis wide receivers still in the NFL." Rivera said hes interested to see what Brandon LaFell will do as Carolinas primary wide receiver. LaFell is third on the team in receptions with 49 for 627 yards and five touchdowns. "Brandon has done nothing but take strides and get better as a football player," Rivera said. "And it will also be good to see as far as Ted Ginn is concerned and Domenik Hixon. These three guys have done some really good things for us. It will help us gauge where were at." The Panthers are also expected to lean heavily on tight end Greg Olsen, who has 64 receptions for 747 yards and four touchdowns. Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone says his series and NASCAR wont be competing for the same motorsport fans in Texas when they hold races 190 miles apart in November. Rafinha Jersey . Ecclestone dismissed on Wednesday any clash between the series, after the top executive at Texas Motor Speedway called F1 "arrogant" for scheduling the United States Grand Prix in Austin on the same weekend that his track hosts NASCAR in Fort Worth. "I absolutely think its foolish," said Eddie Gossage, the track president and general manager. "Its a shot fired by Formula One at NASCAR. I cant say I was surprised because Bernie Ecclestone does a lot of foolish things. The thing he unfortunately doesnt recognize is there is an 800-pound gorilla when it comes to major American motorsports. The 800-pound gorilla is NASCAR." Texas Motor Speedway will host NASCARs Texas 500 on Nov. 2, the same day F1 will hold its only race in the U.S. this year. Fort Worth is about a 3-hour drive from Austin. While Gossage thought a stronger stance by the management at Circuit of the Americas would have prevented the scheduling issue, Ecclestone believed it was a non-issue. "Ive also spoken to the people that run the race at COTA and their position is that they believe the NASCAR crowd is a different crowd to Formula One, different people, different customers," Ecclestone said. "At the end of the day, they run a domestic series in America -- we run a world championship." F1 requires considerable logistical planning by the teams, he said. "Weve a small problem they (NASCAR) dont have -- we have six jumbo jets to move around all our equipment, and we have to find the most sensible way to use them to do that," Ecclestone said. "We have to be efficient and bear in mind we may also encounter problems at an airport. "There are issues that can occur, but (Gossage) and other people do not realize these things. The race prior to the one in the U.S. is in Russia, in Sochi. Weve never been before, and we have to get out of there and into Austin. That is probably a lot easier than trying to get into Brazil, and then we have to get out of there (Sao Paulo) to go to Abu Dhabi." Gossage said F1 could have found another weekend to race in the U.S. "Its just not smart," he said. "Theres 52 weeks in the year. But that was the only weekend that Formula One could make it work in Austin, Texas. Give me a break." Jordi Alba Jersey . R.J. Umberger scored twice to lead the Blue Jackets to a franchise-record for consecutive wins with a 5-3 victory Tuesday night over the Los Angeles Kings. "Its special," said Umberger, who has seen a lot of losses since coming to the Blue Jackets in a draft-day trade in 2008. "You dont want to get caught up in it, but it shows the direction the clubs going. There have been some bad moments here. But weve got a lot more in us. Were not satisfied." The win kept the Blue Jackets -- who have made the post-season just once in their 12 seasons -- in playoff contention. Nathan Horton scored in his 600th NHL game, Artem Anisimov had a goal and an assist and Ryan Johansen also scored for Columbus, with James Wisniewski picking up two assists. Sergei Bobrovsky moved to 8-0 in his past eight starts with 26 saves. Theyre 8-1-0 with Horton, a big free-agent signing last summer from Boston, in the lineup. "Were on a roll, but were not where we want to be," Horton said. "We want to get back in the playoffs and stay there. We needed a winning streak; now we need to keep the thing going." The Blue Jackets have been surging since getting Horton, who missed the first 40 games after shoulder surgery, and Bobrovsky, who sat out most of December with a strained groin, back on the ice. Columbus, thought to be hurting for offence heading into the season, has outscored its opponents 30-15 in the streak. "Theres something with our group," coach Todd Richards said. "Our young guys are a year older and feeling more comfortable. Our power play is better, so thatll help. But theres something different about our offensive output." Jeff Carter, Dwight King and Robyn Regehr had goals for the Kings, who have lost three in a row. Mike Richards had two assists. "Were clearly giving up too many goals," Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. Down 2-1 after the first, the Kings tied it before the Blue Jackets scored twice in 89 seconds late in the second to take command. Carter, a former Blue Jacket who was booed loudly every time he touched thee puck, received a nice pass on a 3 on 1 break from Richards and recorded his 20th goal at 8:39.Thomas Vermaelen Jersey. Umberger shadowed defenceman Drew Doughty and stole the puck from him along the short boards, then put up what appeared to be an innocent shot from a hard angle. But Martin Jones, making his first start since Jan. 2, struggled picking it up and the puck caromed off his glove and into the net with 1:45 left in the period. "We fought hard to get back in it and make it 2-2," Jones said. "A bad goal changed the momentum. And thats the difference in the game." Anisimov then won a puck battle in the neutral zone and carried the puck down the left wing. On a rush, he sent a tape-to-tape lead pass to Horton who lifted the puck high for his third of the season with just 15.6 seconds left for a 4-2 lead. The Blue Jackets had killed off three first-period penalties and escaped the first 20 minutes with a 2-1 lead after falling behind early. The Kings scored at the 2:42 mark when Trevor Lewis shot from the right dot went off Bobrovskys right leg pad to King, who was charging the net through the high slot. He had an almost empty net for his 11th of the season. Columbus pulled even on the power play, where it has been particularly effective of late -- scoring on 6 of its past 13 attempts with a man advantage. Wisniewskis hard slap shot from the top of the left circle was redirected in the crease by Umberger at 12:47. It was his 12th of the season and his 114th as a Blue Jacket, moving him past David Vyborny into sole possession of second place in franchise history behind Rick Nash (289). Then, in the final minute of the period, Johansen took a seeing-eye stretch pass from rookie Ryan Murray and glided past a defenceman to go high with a forehand. It was Johansens 19th goal of the season. "This says a lot," Umberger said. "The fans can enjoy it, they deserve it. But we keep talking about how we can be better every night." TORONTO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs are giving Brian Burke plenty to think about ahead of the NHL trade deadline. http://www.laramsfansshop.com/c-48-rams-pharoh-cooper-jersey.aspx . Patrick Marleau scored twice Thursday as the San Jose Sharks edged Toronto 2-1, sending the stumbling Leafs to their seventh loss in eight games and knocking them out of playoff position in the Eastern Conference. "We need a win somehow," said Leafs coach Ron Wilson. Burke put the players on alert when he told a Toronto radio station Wednesday that he was in the market for a goaltender ahead of Mondays trade deadline. Judging by the teams play of late, he probably wont stop there. The biggest concern against San Jose was the lack of urgency the Leafs showed over the opening 40 minutes. A fantastic third period wasnt enough to make up for the slow start. "Points are extremely important right now and every game is a big game for us," said Leafs forward Tim Connolly. "Weve got to play that way for a full 60 minutes." With the goaltending under fire, James Reimer made arguably the most important start of his young NHL career. He did his part with 24 saves but saw his record fall to 11-9-4 on the season. Marleau was the only player to beat him with a pair of second-period goals that lifted the Sharks (32-20-7) to their first win in five games. "Im quite proud and pleased of the way the guys responded," said Sharks coach Todd McLellan. "We had a hell of a game on our hands. Theyre a very fast team but we did some of the things we wanted to." Jake Gardiner replied for the Maple Leafs (29-25-7), who fell to 1-6-1 since Feb. 7. Toronto dropped to ninth place in the Eastern Conference with Winnipegs victory over Tampa Bay. That will only add a bit more pressure on a franchise trying to end its playoff drought at eight years. "Its fun to play right now," said Leafs centre Tyler Bozak. "Were in a race, were battling for a playoff spot. These are the games every guy in here wants to play in here, but weve got to do a better job." The teams took some time to feel their way into the game, producing a tepid opening 20 minutes. But Marleau put the Sharks ahead early in the second period by quickly firing a Joe Thornton pass over Reimers shoulder just 32 seconds in. That put Toronto back on its heels and allowed San Jose to gain some momentum. "Its been stressed the last couple days and just to get that first goal is huge," said Sharks forward Joe Thornton. "We kind of grabbed some confidence off that." Marleau scored his 25th of the season -- and second of the night -- just 17 seconds after Luke Schenn was penalized for interference. The forward stood at the top of the crease and tipped a Logan Couture shot past Reimer at 10:43. There was an uneasy feeling in the Air Canada Centre as the horn sounded on the second period with San Jose ahead 2-0. A smattering of boos could be heard in the otherwise silent arena. It changed quickly following the intermission as the Leafs came out firing. Gardiner narrowed the deficit to 2-1 at 3:53 by firing a shot through traffic that eluded Sharks goalie Antti Niemi. The fourth goal of the season for the rookie defenceman couldnt have come at a much better time. Toronto kept on pushing and saw two good chances from Matthew Lombardi turned away. Niemi was out at the top of his crease to deny the second one from the slot. That was as close as the Leafs would get. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink at the San Jose Sharks and Niemi," said Reimer. "I thought we worked hard and we deserved to score another goal or two at the end." Burke will only get one more opportunity to watch his team before the trade deadline. The Leafs face Washington on Saturday before wrapping up a four-game homestand against Florida on Tuesday. Both of those teams are among those theyre battling for playoff position. "We need to win those games," said Wilson. "We have to understand that as a group in there, that youve got to be ready to give whatever youve got left in the tank to win those hockey games." Notes: San Jose wasnt assessed a penalty. ... Leafs defenceman Mike Komisarek was scratched for the ninth time in 11 games. ... Recently acquired San Jose forward Dominic Moore sat out with a lower-body injury. ... The Flames, who battled back from a 2-0 deficit that included an own goal, had the first shot of the extra period. It went wide and the Canucks raced the other way. Henrik Sedin carried the puck into the Calgary zone along the left wing and sent a pass back to a trailing Tanev, who snapped a shot from the slot past Jonas Hiller for his second goal of the season. Radim Vrbata scored and Yannick Weber was credited with a goal for Vancouver when the Flames shot the puck into their own empty net on a delayed penalty. Ryan Miller made 26 saves for the Canucks, who snapped a five-game skid. Vancouver forward Jannik Hansen collapsed on the bench during the second period, but was apparently better in the locker room. He did not return for precautionary reasons. Shortly after taking a hit from Calgarys Dennis Wideman, Hansen skated to the Vancouver bench and remained hunched over. He appeared to go limp as his teammates helped and quickly banged their sticks on the boards for the officials to stop play. Medical personnel rushed to Hansens aid and helped him into the locker room. David Jones and Johnny Gaudreau scored for Calgary, which finally picked up a point after losing seven straight in regulation. The Flames so desperately wanted at least one point, they held the puck in their own zone for the final 10 seconds of regulation rather than attack the Vancouver end. Hiller finished with 30 saves in defeat, but wasnt even on the ice for the first Vancouver goal. Moments after the referees arm went up for a Canucks penalty, Hiller left the net for an extra skater and Calgary controlled the puck behind the Vancouver cage. http://www.laramsfansshop.com/c-45-rams-cory-harkey-jersey.aspx. Wideman sent a pass back toward the right point, but the puck caromed off the boards and slid all the way into the vacated cage. Weber was credited with the fluky goal, but the Canucks scored a legitimate goal just under five minutes later on a power play. Alexandre Burrows was whacking away at the puck at the right side of the crease and it popped loose in front, allowing Vrbata to sweep it home for his 13th goal. Calgary pulled within one with 7:31 left in the second period. Miller failed to control a couple of rebounds as the Flames buzzed around the offensive zone. A Kris Russell shot from the left circle went in and out of Millers glove and Jones was there to knock in the rebound for his sixth goal. The Flames had a goal waved off late in the second when it was ruled that Joe Colbornes shot from in close went in after the net was dislodged, but tied it just over seven minutes into the third when Gaudreau snapped a shot from the inside edge of the right circle through Millers pads for his seventh goal. Calgary nearly took the lead a few minutes later while short-handed when Lance Bouma raced in on a breakaway, but was denied by Miller. Game Notes Tanev has two career overtime winners ... The Canucks ended an 0-for-19 slump on the power play with their man-advantage goal in the first period. They finished 1-for-4 with the extra skater ... The Flames were 0-for-3 on the power play ... Vancouver has won both meetings this season, also taking a 4-2 decision on Oct. 8 in Calgary ... NEW YORK -- Lately, it seems as though the Brooklyn Nets just cant get enough home cooking. Yeezy Boost 350 Moonrock Italia . "You feel comfortable when you have dinner at your house, rather than when you go to someone elses house and dont know what theyre going to cook," Nets forward Paul Pierce said. Shaun Livingston scored 23 points, Mirza Teletovic made six 3-pointers and added 20 off the bench, and the Nets beat the Detroit Pistons 116-104 on Friday night for their 15th straight victory at Barclays Center. The Nets went 15 for 31 from behind the arc. Brooklyn used a 35-9 run that began late in the first quarter, and lasted halfway through the second, to build a strong working margin. The Nets led by as many as 22, and were never truly threatened, although the Pistons did cut the lead to single digits on several occasions. Pierce added 17 for Brooklyn, which had six players reach double figures in scoring. The Nets topped the 110-point mark for the eighth time this season. Coach Jason Kidd credited his teams ball movement as a primary reason for Brooklyns strong offensive output. "The one thing that leads to 3s is everyone being unselfish," Kidd said. It doesnt matter if its (Andray) Blatche, if its (Deron Williams), if its Joe (Johnson) - guys are posting up, and theyre finding their teammates. When youre unselfish like that, you get the looks that were getting from behind the 3." Brooklyn remained 2 1/2 games behind the Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors, who both won, in the race for the No. 3 seed in the East. They could potentially get a lift from Kevin Garnett, who, according to Kidd, may return to action Saturday night in Philadelphia after sitting out the last 19 games due to back spasms. "Well see," Kidd said, about the prospect of the 37-year-old centre returning to the lineup. "We would like to try to get him to go tomorrow, but its up to him." Livingston, for one, cant wait to see his teammate back on the floor. "It means everything to this team," Livingston said. "Hes our leader." On the other side, the Pistons just couldnt seem to do anything about the easy looks that the Nets were getting. Their lax perimeter defence, particularly in the game-defining second quarter, ultimately proved to be their undoing. Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey offered very basic analysis of his teams loss. "They made 3s. They were on fire. That was it," he said. The Nets shot a season-high 60.5 per cent from the field. "They shot 60 per cent," Pistons interim coach John Loyer said. "Youre not going to win an NBA game when (your opponent) shoots 60 per cent." The Pistons were unable to take advantage of their massive rebounding edge. They pulled down 46 rebounds to Brooklyns 26, and 19 offensive boards to Brooklyns two. Loyer felt that despite the edge, the Nets did what they needed to do inside, as they kept Pistons forward Greg Monroe in check. Monroe, who averages over 15 points a game, could manage only six. "Brooklyn came and got the ball out of Greg Monroes hand," Loyer said. "They were going to try to get it out of his hands and make someone else beat (them). I thought what it did was force us to shoot 21 3s in the first half. Thats not us. Were last in the league in 3-point shooting." The Nets have seven games remaining to try to close the gap on Chicago and Toronto. They remain hopeful that they can catch at least one, if not both clubs, thanks to the fact that only one of their final seven opponents has a record above .500. Notes: The game was the first of a back-to-back for Brooklyn, its 18th of the season. The Nets are 13-5 in back-to-back openers. They head to Philadelphia on Saturday night. ... The Toronto Blue Jays off-season quest for a rotation upgrade continues according to reports, they could be considering a journey through the recent past.http://www.thenfl49ersfanatic.com/c-36-49ers-quinton-patton-jersey.aspx . Reports surfacing Wednesday in The Globe and Mail and Thursday in the Toronto Star suggest that the Jays could be considering a run at free agent starter A.J. Burnett, now that hes believed to be available. The 37-year-old Burnett had previously announced his intention to retire instead of playing the 2014 season. Based on that assumption, the Pittsburgh Pirates did not tender him a qualifying offer meaning that signing him as a free agent carries no compensatory draft pick. Its believed that Burnett would prefer to pitch closer to his Maryland home, but – unlike previous reports – he is believed to have softened on his desire to pitch only for the Pirates. Burnett is one of several free agent arms that the Jays have been linked to through the rumour mill of late; a list that is also believed to include Ubaldo Jimenez and Ervin Santana. In 30 appearances with the Pirates last season, Burnett posted a 10-11 record with a 3.30 earned-run average and a 1.215 WHIP. He finished with the National Leagues highest strikeout/nine innings ratio last season, with 9.8. His groundout-to-flyout ratios have been higher the past two seasons in Pittsburgh (2.05 in 2012, 1.90 in 2013) than every other year of his MLB career save 2005 with the Florida Marlins and are both well above both his career average of 1.36 and the MLB average of 1.08. Burnett has posted a 147-132 career record over 15 MLB seasons with the Pirates, Marlins, Blue Jays and New York Yankees with a 3.99 career ERA, a 1.315 WHIP and a K/9 ratio of 8.3. He signed with the Jays as a free agent prior to the 2006 season to serve as the teams No. 2 starter behind Roy Halladay. He went 38-26 over those three seasons, including an 18-win performance in 2008 which tied him for the 10th-highest single-season total in franchise history. Originally signed to a five-year, $55 million deal by then-Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi, Burnett opted out of the deal after three years to sign a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Yankees. http://www.thenfl49ersfanatic.com/c-47-49ers-bruce-ellington-jersey.aspx . -- The Minnesota Vikings are struggling both on and off the field. http://www.thenfl49ersfanatic.com/c-19-49ers-deforest-buckner-jersey.aspx .ca. PITTSBURGH, Pa. http://www.laramsfansshop.com/c-40-rams-rodger-saffold-jersey.aspx . - The Pittsburgh Penguins are ready for the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Ottawa Senators arent headed to the post-season, but captain Jason Spezza wanted to make sure his team finished the season strong. Spezza scored in the shootout to help the Senators beat the Penguins 3-2 on Sunday night and stretch their season-ending winning streak to five games. "We wanted to play for each other," said Spezza, who finished his first season as captain. "We talked about it a lot down the stretch, how it would be easy to let up, and I thought the group showed good character by finishing hard and winning these games." The teams were tied 2-2 after two periods and didnt score in the third or overtime. Spezza, who scored the lone goal in Ottawas win Saturday against Toronto, stopped at the circle during his shootout attempt, stickhandled around goalie Jeff Zatkoff, and scored. Kyle Turris added a goal in the shootout for the Senators. Ottawa goalie Robin Lehner stopped Beau Bennett and Jussi Jokinen to seal the win. Turris scored his 26th goal in regulation, and Mark Stone had his fourth for Ottawa, which will miss the playoffs for the second time in six years and first since 2011. "We believe in this group, that its a good group and very close to being a good team," Senators coach Paul MacLean said. "We have work to do and we have to come to training camp in September prepared to do the work and make changes to our game thats going to make us successful." Jokinen scored on the power play in regulation, his 21st of the season, and Lee Stempniak added his 12th for the Penguins, who rested captain Sidney Crosby and several others for their final game before the playoffs. No. 1 goalie Marc-Andre Fleury also sat out along with Brandon Sutter, Matt Niskanen, Robert Bortuzzo and Deryk Engelland. "I think weve gone through quite a bit with this group in terms of different lineups, different injury situations," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said of his team, which led the NHL with 521 man-games lost. "I think weve done a better job of being able to shut teams down and limit opportunities, but now we have to do that in the playoffs." The Penguins will face Columbus in the first round of the playoffs. The series begins Wednesday in Pittsburgh. It will be the first post-season meeting between the teams, separated by a four-hour drive. The perennial-contending Penguins have lots of star power and three Stanley Cup titles. Columbus, during its first season in the Eastern Conference, secured its second playoff berth and first since the 2009 season. "Theyre skilled, they have great goaltending and they played fast," Penguins forward James Neal said. "We had a good year against them. Theyre going to come hard. Its the playoffs and everyone has a chance now." Despite missing the finale, Crosby won his second scoring title — topping Anaheims Ryan Getzlaf. Crosby, who finished with 36 goals and 104 points, outscored Getzlaf by 17 points to win the Art Ross Trophy for the first time since the 2006-07 season, his second in the NHL. The seven-year gap is the second-longest span between scoring titles. "Sid, I think, to get over 100 points ... to have the lead as he does over Getzlaf by that many points is pretty amazing to see," Bylsma said. Pittsburgh hopes to have former NHL MVP and two-time scoring champion Evgeni Malkin back for the playoffs after he missed the final 11 games of the regular season because of a foot injury. Malkin skated with teammates Chris Conner (foot) and Joe Vitale (upper body) on Sunday, but Bylsma didnt say whether they would be ready for Wednesdays playoff opener. "I like the way were getting healthy and I like the way were playing," Neal said. "This year is a little different than others. Were playing good hockey at the right time and thats big for us." Jokinen opened the scoring Sunday with a power-play goal with 5:14 left in the first period. His centring pass deflected off Eric Grybas skate and trickled between Lehners pads. Turris tied it later in the period, scoring in the final seconds of a power play when he sent a shot past Zatkoff from the left faceoff dot. Stempniak put the Penguins ahead 2-1 when he tipped Bennetts shot behind Lehner at 5:16 of the second. Stone tied it with Ottawas second power-play goal at 17:14 from the top of the crease, whacking in a rebound of Patrick Wierciochs point shot. Ryan Arcidiacono added 16 for the Wildcats (12-0), who trailed by as many as seven early in the second half but used a surge shortly thereafter which ultimately led them to victory. Phil Booth contributed 14 points and Daniel Ochefu picked up 13 points with 10 rebounds for Villanova, which hadnt won 12 games to begin a season since 1961-62. Damon Lynn provided 13 points for the Highlanders (5-8), who fell short in their bid for a second shocking road victory against a ranked opponent this year. Tim Coleman poured in 12 and Winfield Willis had 10 before fouling out. Colemans jumper put the visitors ahead by a 44-41 count at the break, and they scored the first four points of the second half to make it a seven-point spread on a bucket by Odera Nweke. However, eight in a row from Villanova, capped by an Ennis lay-in, made it a one-point margin with 13:52 left. NJIT countered immediately on an Osa Izevbuwa triple to go back on top 51-49. Nova gained separation with 12 straight from there, as Ennis kicked it off with a layup, Arcidiacono added a basket and followed withh a trey, then Booth added a shot from distance before Josh Hart completed the clip on two free throws with 10:29 to go.http://www.laramsfansshop.com/c-37-rams-jacob-mcquaide-jersey.aspx. Izevbuwas shot proved to be the last time NJITs deficit dipped below double digits. The Wildcats added a 15-3 run to turn the contest into a rout. Hart connected from beyond the arc to make it 77-56 with 4:59 left and the hosts cruised from there. Villanova led 9-2 early on, but an 8-0 run by NJIT pulled it even, 15-15 on a bucket by Winfield just after the seven-minute mark. Harts first shot from distance gave the Wildcats a 26-20 edge, and the Highlanders remained close. Another three, this time from Kris Jenkins, provided a 36-30 edge for the hosts.
