The blog, written by columnist Anthony Vasquez-Peddie (@AVPreports), took aim at selective tweets from Scrivens wifes Twitter account regarding her feelings about the weather in Los Angeles. "The big loser in Wednesdays trade that sent goalie Ben Scrivens from the Los Angeles Kings to the Edmonton Oilers may be Mrs. Scrivens," Vasquez-Peddie wrote. "Ben, who was born in Spruce Grove, is used to crippling Alberta winters. "Based on her Twitter feed, Jenny Scrivens, a native Californian, clearly is not. Jenny couldnt have been happier after her husband was traded to the Kings last off-season after spending three years in Toronto with the Maple Leafs. Now that shes headed back to the Great White North, however, she has to deal with awful things like fall, snow and ice." Vasquez-Peddie pointed out a series of tweets from Jenny Scrivenss Twitter feed first published by The Sporting News. "Exactly!," she tweeted just after the Leafs-Kings trade. "I paid my dues with 3 years in Toronto and 4 in New York. And I will never complain about weather again. Ever." Scrivens, who was acquired in a deal from the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, was quick to defend his wife with his own response on social media. Kwon Alexander Buccaneers Jersey. "Hey @AVPreports, classy move writing a slam story by cherry-picking tweets my wife sent to make it seem like she doesnt like Edmonton," he wrote. "Youre gutless. "Way to make my family feel welcome." Vasquez-Peddie responded to Ben Scrivenss tweets later in the evening, explaining it was just a tongue-in-cheek feature. "A few things first," he wrote. "1) The blog was not an attack on Jenny Scrivens. She wrote tweets about how happy she was in L.A., in particular ... How much she enjoyed the weather as compared to Toronto. "Now that her husband is moving to Edmonton, shell be forced to experience...Bad weather again. Complaining about the weather is something everybody does. The way she did in the first tweet shown in the blog...Was something many people poked fun at. Sort of an Uh oh, here we go again moment. The idea of the blog was based on that. Is it gossipy clickbait? Absolutely, and thats how it was sold. We have plenty of beat writers for analysis, I wanted to provide levity." Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
SAN DIEGO -- Jimmy Walker is playing the opening two rounds of the Farmers Insurance Open with Tiger Woods. Piumini Bimba Moncler Outlet . That will be 35 more holes than the first time they played together. Walker was a senior at Baylor when he used his parents credit card -- against their wishes because it was during finals -- to go through Monday qualifying for the Byron Nelson Championship. He got in the field and after taking one final exam, ran up to Dallas for a practice round at Cottonwood Valley using a local caddie. "All of a sudden, Tiger is over on the front nine and my guys is like, Hey, theres Tiger over there," Walker said. This was 2001. It was Woods first tournament since he won the Masters for his fourth straight major. "So he pretty much was owning everybody," Walker said. Woods skipped over to the par 5 that Walker was playing, so Walker picked up his ball and headed to the next tee. Woods picked up his ball and headed to the same tee. "Hes like, Can I play through you? Im trying to play real fast and get a couple of holes in? I said, Dude, you can do whatever you want," Walker recalled. So this was the one hole they played together, and it was memorable for Walker for one reason. "I am literally shaking," he said. "I have every bad-swing thought possible -- dont shank it, top it, all that stuff. I make contact. I look up and its heading right at it. Cant see it because its kind of in the setting sun. We walked down there and he asked whats going on, I told him I Monday qualified. We talked and it was really cool and he was really nice. We get down there and his ball is about 15 feet away and mines about 6 feet away." Woods picked up his ball and was on his way. But there was a lesson for Walker. "I can remember thinking, Man, if I was that nervous and I hit that good of a shot, I guarantee I will never be that nervous again my entire life -- ever," Walker said. He recalls narrowly missing the cut. And then he qualified for his first U.S. Open at Southern Hills. Walker played a practice round that week with Nick Faldo. No big deal. "It was so easy compared to that one shot," he said. So when his wife sent him a text Tuesday that he was playing with Woods and Jordan Spieth, Walker offered a predictable response: "Sounds fun."Moncler Bambino Saldi . -- Vincent Lecavalier got everything but the desired result in his return to Tampa Bay. Coach Tom Thibodeau says the former MVP will probably start travelling with the team in the next few weeks. LONDON -- John Obi Mikels first English Premier League goal helped to end Chelseas four-game winless run in a 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday. After Oscar powered in the opener early in the second half, Mikel sliced the ball into the net in the 84th minute of the west London derby. "They have been killing me about it -- going to the national team and scoring but not here," the Nigeria midfielder said. "Im sure the guys will give me a lot of stick." Mikel had previously scored only twice for Chelsea, in the FA Cup in January 2007 during Jose Mourinhos first reign as manager. Mourinhos return has not gone to plan, presiding over the clubs worst start to a season since Roman Abramovichs investment started a decade ago. This victory, however unconvincing, enabled Chelsea to dislodge Liverpool from the top of the standings ahead of Sundays games. "We know our fans have been disappointed about a few performances going into these games so we wanted to give them something to cheer," Mikel said. But the season is barely a month old, enabling Mourinho to dismiss the early criticism. "To lose is a normal thing and it looks like for us its the end of the world," Mourinho said. "Some of (the teams) started the Premier League in a brilliant way, we started in a very bad way ... I read it was a disaster." Chelseas ability to remain among the title contenders will hinge on rediscovering the cutting edge thats been missing. To achieve that, Mourinho has shown hes willing to risk antagonizing his squad with public criticism. Midfielder Juan Mata and defender David Luiz were both in Mourinhos firing line on Saturday as they were left out of the squad and saw their abilities called into question. Mourinho knows his return to Chelsea after six years has not matched the expectations of fans who were ecstatic when the season began with a pair of wins. A draw and a loss domestically was followed by a losing start to the Champions League group stage, provoking a smattering of boos at Stamford Bridge after Wednesdays loss to Basel. "Sorry about your disapppointment," Mourinho wrote in the matchday program. Piumini Moncler Outlet. "But we will give you happiness." Maintaining harmony in the squad will be as important. The ostracizing of midfielder Mata, last seasons player of the year, has baffled many. Matas displays this season so far were "not convincing," Mourinho said as he justified dropping the Spaniard again on Saturday and warning that he has to "fight and work for his opportunities." That will come in the League Cup against Swindon on Tuesday. "I hope he tells me on the pitch, You are wrong, Im the best and I have to play every game," Mourinho said. "I would love that. Im waiting for a professional reaction." Mourinho also publicly castigated Luiz for his defensive performance in the 2-1 loss to Basle on Wednesday. Yet, Mourinho kept faith with Samuel Etoo to lead the strike force against Fulham, despite publicly doubting his sharpness against Basel. Etoo rarely came close to opening his account for Chelsea since joining from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, volleying wide and heading off target in the first half. Fulham, though, was even more ineffective up front as it slumped to a ninth loss in 12 matches stretching back to last season. "The first 50 minutes they were really worried," Fulham manager Martin Jol said. "They couldnt find the space, they couldnt find a solution and that is probably the moment you have to punish them and we couldnt do that." And the visitors were breached seven minutes into the second half. Goalkeeper David Stockdale parried from Andre Schurrle and couldnt keep hold of Etoos shot before Oscar blasted in the goal. To cheers, Etoo was replaced in the 64th by Fernando Torres, the only Chelsea striker to find the net this season. After Torres had a header pushed over Stockdale, the second goal came from the resulting corner from the unlikely source of Mikel after John Terry nodded the ball into this path. "The second half they stepped up a gear, they were more aggressive than us and that is what showed," Jol said. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. Tharold Simon Seahawks Jersey . -- Champ Bailey finally gets a chance to live up to his name. The 12-time Pro Bowler is headed to his first Super Bowl in his 15th -- and most trying -- NFL season, one in which he missed 11 games and parts of two others because of a nagging foot injury. "It hurt not being out there," Bailey said after Denver topped New England in the AFC championship game, "but here I am. Im on the field and my teams still in the running. Thats what its all about." Baileys subdued celebration and measured reaction in delirious Denver stood in stark contrast to the scene in Seattle later Sunday night, where Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman stole the spotlight with his game-saving deflection, his taunting of Michael Crabtree and his television rant on the field afterward. The two contrasting styles will draw much attention in the days leading up to the Super Bowl on Feb. 2. Sherman is the 25-year-old trash-talking leader of the leagues best defence, Bailey the 35-year-old sage of a unit thats been through the ringer this season, but has come on strong over the past month despite injuries that cost them several starters, including Von Miller and Chris Harris Jr. Bailey is one of the leagues top cornerbacks, but hes clearly on the downslope of his spectacular career that includes the most Pro Bowls by a defensive back in NFL history. Bailey was greeted in the locker room by former teammate John Lynch, who was with him the previous time hed come this close to the Super Bowl -- 2,919 days earlier. One week after sealing a playoff win with a 100-yard interception return to hand Tom Brady his first playoff loss back in 2006, Bailey had another interception in his grasp and the end zone in his sights, but Hines Ward somehow came down with the football instead and Pittsburgh went on to beat Denver 34-17 for the AFC title following the 2005 season. "I said hed play really big and I think quietly he really did," Lynch said. "Its been a tough year. Everyone thinks hes old, over the hill, but hes been a great player throughout his whole career and great players, when it matters most, play great." Bailey had no spectacular plays this time, no pick-6s or takeaways or forced fumbles or sacks, just his usual steady play and calming leadership. He was hardly tested by Brady at all and finished with three tackles. "I thought yesterday was his best performance of the season," coach John Fox said Monday. Peyton Manning, who knows a little bit about overcoming injuries and long odds to reach the Super Bowl, said he was "certainly happy for Champ, I know a lot of people are." "Theres a guy -- lets see, Champs one year younger than me so hes in his 15th season -- like I said, its hard to get to the Super Bowl. Its hard to win it, but Im telling you its hard to get there," Manning said. "... Im glad that hes back out there on the field. Hes battled through some injuries and has stayed at it and been committed to his rehab." Bailey started just three games this season, and he finished just one of those, against Jacksonville on Oct. 13. After aggravating his foot injury in his two other starts, he was relegated to slot duty by the time he finally got healthy in mid-December. That changed when Harris got hurt in the Broncos playoff win over San Diego and Bailey started Sunday opposite Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, then moved into the slot on passing downs to thwart the heart of the Patriots offence. "I knew Id be back at some point," Bailey said. "My coaches, teammates, they never gave up on me. They knew Id be back to 100 per cent at some point. Here I am, Im playing probably my best football of the year -- because I havent played much. Im just looking forward to the next one, making sure my body is right for the next game." And dont count on him getting caught up in the comparisons at the Super Bowl between him and Sherman, who represents this new breed of cornerback, the bigger, athletic DBs who trash talk as well as any of the receivers they cover. About the only trash-talking that came out of Baileys mouth Sunday was when he was asked about how the Broncos shut down the Patriots ground game. The Broncos held LeGarrette Blount to 6 yards on five carries a week after scoring four TDs against Indianapolis. "Well," Bailey said matter-of-factly, "they didnt play the Broncos last week." The sensational rookie took full advantage of the attention, breaking one of Wayne Gretzkys records while helping his team win. Andre Benoit, all alone, scored off an assist from MacKinnon with 31.4 seconds left in overtime to lift the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night. MacKinnon has a point in 13 straight games, breaking Gretzkys mark for an 18-year-old NHL player that he set during the 1979-80 season. "Its pretty cool," MacKinnon acknowledged. "I want to be as consistent as possible. He probably doubled my point total in those games." Gretzky finished his rookie season with 51 goals and 137 points. MacKinnon has 22 goals and 50 points -- easily leading all rookies in the league this year -- in 63 games. His point streak is the longest by a rookie at any age since Colorados Paul Stastny went 20 straight in 2007. MacKinnon kept it going with quite a pass. He was behind the net to the right of Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard when the No. 1 overall pick from the 2013 NHL draft sent a diagonal pass to Benoit in the bottom of the left circle. "Nobody really took me," MacKinnon. "And, Benoit took the back door." Benoit made the most of the scoring opportunity for his fourth goal, sending a shot to the top shelf that Howard had no shot to stop. Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 35 saves for Colorado, which has won four straight. "Jiggy was big when we needed him," said Matt Duchene, who scored a game-tying goal midway through the second period. "He held us in there until we could get the winner." Colorados P.A. Parenteau made it a 2-all game 5:49 into the third period after the Red Wings took their second lead. The Red Wings retired Nicklas Lidstroms No. 5 jersey before the game. Lidstrom, one of the NHLs all-time best on the blue line, saw a fellow Swede have a rough night defensively. Franzen skated into the crease when Duchenes shot was going to slide to the right of the net and he knocked it into the goal with his right skate. The burly forward failed to do his job when the Avs tied the game for a second time. Duchene carried the puck behind Detroits net, easily keeping it while Franzen lightly pushed him. Franzen then accidently knocked Howards stick out of his hands, making it tough for him to stop Parenteaus game-tying shot. Franzen lost the puck in the opening minute of overtime and Duchene had a breakaway attempt stopped by a holding penalty on Kronwall while he wasnt holding his stick. Stastny negated the power play by getting called for tripping. That gave the Red Wings an extra skater for 1:03 in the extra period, but they didnt take advantage. Detroit has dropped two straight, losing third-period leads in both setbacks. "Through two periods, we could have already had the game put away, but we didnt," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock lamented. "Thats been the theme all year." NOTES: David Legwand made his Detroit debut, a day after he was acquired by his hometown team from the Nashville Predators. ANAHEIM, Calif. Giubbotti Moncler Uomo Prezzi . -- Its been obvious for quite some time that the Los Angeles Angels werent going to the playoffs. Now its official. The Angels beat Seattle 6-5 Saturday night for their 21st victory in 28 games, but this surge came way too late. Earlier in the day, they were mathematically eliminated from post-season contention. After starting the year with big expectations, boosted by the winter signing of former MVP Josh Hamilton, the injury-plagued Angels didnt spend one day atop the AL West after winning their season opener at Cincinnati. The Angels have been no fewer than nine games out of first place since the All-Star break. This is their fourth straight year without a post-season berth, after winning five division titles. "I think the one word that still lingers out of all this clubhouse and how we all feel is certainly frustration," manager Mike Scioscia said. "I dont think theres been any way to sugarcoat it. Its obviously not a good feeling when you dont accomplish your goal. "Theres been some nonperformance on our club, some injuries and some depth issues. But I think weve gone a long way in the past month to show the kind of baseball we can play, particularly on the pitching side. Hopefully well temper that frustration and finish strong," he said. Collin Cowgill homered and also stole home for the Angels. Rookie Grant Green hit a three-run double to help Jerome Williams win his fourth straight start. Cowgill walked and scored in the second inning and hit a solo homer in the fourth. He tripled to open the seventh, then broke for the plate as Andrew Romine squared around to try a suicide-squeeze bunt, and scored when left-hander Joe Saunders pitch sailed to the backstop. Williams (9-10) allowed one run, five hits and five walks in 5 2-3 innings. He left after No. 9 hitter Henry Blanco snapped an 0-for-32 drought with a bloop single. "I always want to go out there and do my best," he said. "Ive had a couple of rough stretches, and now I just want to finish strong and end this season on a good note." Ernesto Frieri got three outs for his 36th save in 40 attempts despite giving up Raul Ibanezs 300th career homer. Ibanez and Ted Williams are the only players to hit 29 home runs during the season in which they were 41 years old. "I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to be in this situation," Ibanez said. "Anytime youre in the company of the great Ted Williams -- and its just this one thing that I have in common with him -- its a great blessing. I read his book when I was in high school, and he was the greatest hitter that ever lived." What made this milestone even sweeter for Ibanez was that it came with the Mariners, the team he began his big league career with in 1996. This is his third stint with the club. "Ive always considered myself a Mariner," said the 17-year veteran, who hit a career-high 34 homers in 2009 with Philadelphia. "This is the organization that first game me the opportunity. So to do this in a Mariners uniform, I feel very fortunate." Saunders (11-16) tied the Astros Lucas Harrell and the Cubs Edwin Jackson for the most losses in the majors. Saunders gave up six runs and six hits over seven innings and tied a career best with nine strikeouts. The 32-year-old left-hander threw 125 pitches, one short of his career high. "It was nerve-wracking, but we pulled through," said Collaros, who threw four touchdown passes to lead the Toronto Argonauts (8-4) to a 33-27 win over the Calgary Stampeders (9-3) in front of 28,781 fans at McMahon Stadium. Late in the fourth quarter with Toronto clinging to a 32-26 lead, Brad Sinopli caught a pass from Calgary quarterback Kevin Glenn and appeared to run for a 57-yard touchdown, but the play was called back after Arthur was flagged for offensive pass interference. "Its just kind of unfortunate that we were on the wrong side of the call," said Arthur, who finished the game with seven catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. "Its definitely a little bit frustrating. Its a play thats called 100 times a game. I thought it was good." In the games final seconds with the Argos leading 33-26 and Bo Levi Mitchell in at quarterback for the Stamps, Calgary receiver Anthony Parker hauled in a pass that was tipped at the goal line, but officials deemed that he fell out of bounds as time expired. The Argos were assessed an offside penalty on the play, so Calgary was given one more shot to tie up the game with no time left on the clock. Mitchell completed a pass to Arthur, who booted the ball into the end zone. A chase for the ball ensued, but Torontos Alonzo Lawrence got to it first and smothered it to preserve the victory. "I was wishing I was still in college so we could just take a couple knees and run the clock out," said Collaros, who completed 24-of 36 passes for 330 yards. "That doesnt happen up here." Toronto coach Scott Milanovich praised his team for finding a way to win their third straight road game with Collaros in at quarterback for Ricky Ray, whos out with a shoulder injury. "We showed a lot of character," Milanovich said. "You dont just win these games. Teams dont just -- on the road with back-up players -- win them without character and resolve and belief in the guys next to them. Were proud of them." Collaros also threw TD passes to John Chiles, Andre Durie and Dontrelle Inman as Toronto halted Calgarys four-game winning streak overall and 10-game streak at home. "We take care of each other and we want to play for each other," Collaros said. "That in itself is special and we believe in each other. Were going to have to continue to do that down the stretch here." Swayze Waters added a field goal and a pair of singles for the Argos. After watching Calgarys previous two games from the sidelines with a knee injury, Glenn returned to throw a pair of touchdown passes to Arthur and Marquay McDaniel. Arthur was also credited with a single for kicking the ball into the end zone on the final play. Early in the first quarter, Glenn was intercepted by Pat Watkins, who ran the ball back to the Calgary three-yard line. Two plays later, Collaros tossed a four-yard touchdown pass to Chiles to give Toronto an early 7-0 lead. The Stamps answered right back with a 52-yard field goal by Parades, before Glenn threw an 11-yard strike to Arthur in the end zone to give the Stamps a 10-7 lead. Rob Maver kicked a 59-yard single for Calgary late in the first quarter, before Waters responded right back with an 80-yard single for Toronto early in the second. After Tate ran for a one-yard touchdown, Collaros responded by engineering a six-play, 65-yard drive that he capped off by tossing a two-yard touchdown pass to Durie to pull the Argos within three points. Larry Taylor ran the opening kickoff of the second half back 34 yards to give the Stamps great field position at their own 54-yard line. Calgary took advantage as McDaniel caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Glenn just four plays later to put the Stamps up 25-15. The Argos responded right back on their next drive as Collaros threw a 28-yard pass to Inman, who was wide open in the end zone. The Stamps had a great chance to extend their lead, but Watkins hauled in his second interception of the game when he picked off a pass by Glenn that was intended for Kenny Stafford. Waters then kicked a 40-yard field goal late in the third quarter before Collaros led the Argos on a four-play, 70-yard drive that he finished off by throwing the game-winning touchdown to Bradwell. "Were kind of rolling right now," Bradwell said. "These last few wins weve had in a row, its just something to build on. Weve just got to keep getting better every week and keep rolling." Piumini Moncler Vendita On Line . Already 10 1/2 games out of contention in the American League East, the Jays have proven to be one of the weakest teams in the majors as they deal with a four-game slide following their 8-1 loss to the Mariners on Saturday. With the setback the Jays have now bowed in eight of the last nine contests. Picking up the victory for Seattle, the teams third in a row and the sixth in seven tries, was Hisashi Iwakuma, who scattered five hits and three walks, fanning five over seven innings. Offensively, Michael Saunders knocked in three as he belted two home runs and a double in five at-bats. Also going deep for the visitors was Dustin Ackley, who delivered a grand slam in the fourth inning, easily offsetting his two strikeouts. "Thats an awesome feeling," Ackley said. "Hitting a home run in general is a great feeling, but to have three guys on base and to put your team up ... it was pretty important for us." Gearing up for his first appearance in the month of May, Joe Saunders takes the ball for the Mariners this afternoon. The left-hander has two wins in six opportunities thus far in 2013, posting a victory in his most recent outing on Monday versus Baltimore, one of the teams he pitched for last season. Against the Orioles, Saunders threw a complete game, giving up just two runs on four hits and a walk, striking out two in a 6-2 triumph. When it comes to facing Toronto, Saunders has a career mark of 3-5 with a 3.47 ERA. Countering for the Jays will be Brandon Morrow as he seeks his first win of the campaign. While Morrow has yet to notch a triumph of his own, Toronto has won both of his last outings, including a 9-7 final over Boston at home earlier in the week. Morrow made it through just five innings at home versus the Red Sox, permitting three runs on six hits -- two home runs -- and three walks, striking out seven. The right-hander has a 3-1 record with a 3.04 ERA in four all-time appearances against Seattle. Toronto, which has claimed only one of the last eight meetings against the Mariners, is the weakest hitting team in the AL at the moment, batting a collective .225. It also doesnt help that the club is second-to-last in the majors in team ERA with a mark of 4.74 through 21 outings. Desharnais scored in the shootout -- the only time he has found the net all season -- and Peter Budaj stopped all three shots he faced in the tiebreaker to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. "You know what? He played well," Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said of Desharnais, the fifth-year pro who has one assist in 17 games this season. "He started on the fourth line and I saw his intensity in practice this week. "Im really glad for him and his confidence that he ended up scoring the goal in the shootout." Desharnais had been contributing so little that he was a healthy scratch in two of the previous four games. But he had a good percentage in shootouts last season, and that was enough for Therrien to send him out. Desharnais took his turn after the first three shooters were stopped. He came in and netted a hard forehand on Curtis McElhinneys stick side. "He had a quick release there," McElhinney said. "Shootouts are always difficult ways to end games." Budaj, giving starter Carey Price a night off before the Canadiens face the New York Rangers at home on Saturday night, had earlier stopped Mark Letestu and Anisimov. He blocked Ryan Johansens forehand attempt to clinch the win. Budaj, who had 23 saves, said Desharnais finally got repaid for his hard work. "David works so hard. Nobody sees that," Budaj said. "It has been tough for him, but he stayed the course like a true professional and kept working hard. The coach put him there, and he was ready. His hard work paid off. He made a big, big goal for us." Montreals regulation goals were scored by Alex Galchenyuk and Lars Eller. R.J. Umberger and Artem Anisimov had first-period goals for the Blue Jackets. McElhinney made 38 saves. The game pitted teams that have been struggling. The Canadiens had lost five of six (1-3-2), and the Blue Jackets have now dropped eight of nine (1-6-2) -- although they have earned at least a point in their last four games. "Were doing a lot of good things. I think thats maybe the frustrating part," forward Nick Foligno said. "There just seems to be that lull, that little moment in the game where we give them a chance to come back or we let them hang around. Gilet Moncler Donna. We had a 2-0 game. Youve got to find a way to hold that lead." The Blue Jackets took that two-goal lead in the first period, one on a gift, but then helped give one back in the final seconds. The first came at 15:33 when Umberger was at the short boards on the left wing and fired a shot that Budaj missed because of a screen in front to make it 1-0. Columbus continued to pressure, and David Savards slap shot from the top of the right circle clanged off the post. Seconds later, Anisimov took a backhand swing at a loose puck that appeared to ramp off a Canadiens stick. The puck sailed high, and with Jared Boll on his back in the crease while bumping into Budaj, the puck lazily bounced into the net. After the Blue Jackets Jack Johnson and Montreals Brandon Prust went off with concurrent penalties, the Canadiens scored a goofy goal. Columbus defenceman Fedor Tyutin whiffed twice on a bouncing puck at the blue line, and Galchenyuk swooped in to beat McElhinney with a forehand with just 8 seconds left in the period. The Canadiens tied it on the power play at 7:34 of the second. They had gotten several prime opportunities on their first attempt with a man advantage. This time Daniel Briere had a clear shot from the high slot, but McElhinney blocked it. The rebound squirted off to the right doorstep where Eller jammed it in under McElhinneys right arm for his seventh goal. Budaj never let the Blue Jackets regain the lead. "Theres a disconnect somewhere," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "Weve talked about it a lot. In the first period we execute, do the right things, have some success, and then we abandon it." ASHBURN, Va. Kyle Walker Hotspur Jersey . -- Robert Griffin III parsed the appropriate uses of "me" and "I" when it comes to owning up to a mistake and privately explained his words to teammates Santana Moss and coaches Wednesday. It was the latest bit of damage control in a disappointing season for the under-the-microscope quarterback. Griffin was dealing with the backlash from the comments he made after the Washington Redskins 24-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, when his unwise third-and-1 heave was intercepted in the end zone in the final minute to end his teams last chance to tie the game. "I think at the end of the day, I just have to know in that situation after a tough loss to a divisional opponent I cant give anybody any opportunity to read into my words and misinterpret anything," Griffin said. "Some of the things I said, I was trying to give a good compliment to Philly. I wasnt trying to take any shots at anybody and it turned out that way. "Youre asking me today, if I could take any of that back, yeah, I would take it back, because in the heat of that moment, youre frustrated. Youre trying to figure out why things didnt work. Im trying to give you guys honest answers and it hurt us in that sense. Thats on me." Griffins specific words Sunday were hardly earth-shattering, but they were just enough to stoke a prevalent notion that he doesnt always take his fair share of blame and that his relationship with the coaching staff isnt the greatest. Regarding the interception, he said Sunday: "We had a certain concept we were running, and nobody got open so I was backing up, and in the situation where you get a sack there, it ends the game. I was trying to throw the ball to the back of the end zone. It didnt get to where I wanted it to go." Regarding the Eagles in general, he said after the game: "They did a good job of scheming us up. Obviously, we were able to run the ball effectively, but in the passing game, they kind of had us. They kind of knew what was coming before it was coming and, like I said, that is disheartening." That was enough for Moss, a well-respected veteran, to speak up. Moss told 106.7 The Fan on Tuesday that: "Regardless of the outcome, good or bad, you have to at some point, stand up and say me or I." Moss met with Griffin on Wednesday and then attempted to put a new spin on his comments Wednesday, saying they were meant as a message to all leaders that its best to take responsibility no matter whos at fault. "It was nothing that I said should make you believe that were not cool," Moss said. Griffin said he and Moss were "on the same page." Griffin also seemed perplexed by the whole "me"/"I" uproar. "You guys asked me about the last play of the game. I said I tried to throw the ball away and it didnt work," Griffin said. "I dont know who else is to blame for that. I tried to throw the ball away and it didnt work. ... Maybe I can say I, me a whole lot more, but other people can take that the wrong way, too." Griffin also met with coach Mike Shanahan and offensive co-ordinator Kyle Shanahan, explaining that "scheming us up" wasnt a dig at them. Asked to explain his relationship with the two, he said: "Its three guys that want to win football games." "We want to win and thats the bottom line," Griffin said. "Whenever youre not winning, it creates a lot of madness, especially in where were at right now with the Washington Redskins. The only way to stop the madness is for us to win and youve got three guys -- Coach, Kyle, myself -- we all want to win and thats a good recipe." Taking the middle ground was Mike Shanahan, who is trying to keep a 3-7 team focused for a Monday night game against the San Francisco 49ers. "Youve got a tough loss and a lot of emotions after a game and all of a sudden, hey, you look back and say, Maybe I wish I would have said it a different way, but this is what I meant," Shanahan said. "I know Robert meant nothing by it. I know Santana meant nothing by it. Both guys expressed their opinion." Clinton NJie Hotspur Jersey . ST. Moncler Bimba Outlet . LOUIS - The name of the game is winning. David Ortiz is a two-time world champion with the Boston Red Sox and will do no worse than to come within a single victory of a third title. He has been a key contributor to each. What Ortiz is doing in this World Series is, lets not mince words here, bordering on the insane. With a three-hit performance in four at-bats in the Red Sox 3-1, Game Five win over the Cardinals, Big Papi is now 11-for-15 in the series. Hes hit two home runs, driven in six runs and walked four times. Thats a .733 batting average. His 2013 World Series OPS is – gulp – 2.114. Its time to acknowledge a simple fact. There are players who were Red Sox for longer, guys with better numbers, but Ortiz should be considered amongst the best to ever put on Bostons jersey. “Davids just, hes just, hes David Ortiz,” said catcher David Ross, whos RBI double in the seventh broke a 1-1 tie. “The guy is a postseason stud and a stud in general. Like I said in my interview the other day, thats why we call him ‘Cooperstown, because he does Hall of Fame stuff.” In 13 career World Series games, Ortiz has hit .465/.536/.791. The OPS is 1.327, worth posting because its so impressive. The .465 batting average is the highest for any World Series performer with at least 50 plate appearances. He has reached base in every World Series game in which hes played. Only Derek Jeter has more World Series extra-base hits among active players. “Hes having a great series,” said Red Sox manager John Farrell. “The one thing we wont do is get too far ahead of ourselves, whether thats what we achieve collectively or what any individuals performance suggests. But hes in a really good place, obviously.” Yes, obviously. Ortiz is signed through next season. He will turn 38 on November 18. Hes showing no signs of slowing down. In 11 seasons with the Red Sox, Ortizs slash line sits at .292/.390/.572. Hes hit 373 home runs in a Boston uniform, 58 more if his early days with the Twins are factored in. For his career, Minnesota included, Ortiz has 2,023 career regular season hits. The fact Ortiz is a designated hitter shouldnt be held against him. The position was established in the American League in 1973 and is therefore legitimate. He has shown, when interleague or World Series play has required it, an ability to play a competent first base. Ultimately, Ortiz will be remembered for the moments hes authored in October. More so, he should be thought of for the number of rings on his fingers and for his contributions to those championships. Right now, Papis got two rings. Abdelkader opened the scoring at 11:49 of the first period when he put in a loose puck from the bottom of the left circle off the rush, 11 seconds after Detroit killed off a high-sticking penalty to Franzen. So when the Orlando Magic erased Atlantas 17-point lead in the third quarter, Teague wanted to be a calming influence. "Were still learning every day," he said. "I was glad to see us bounce back, get the lead back up and make plays at the end. Hard work is paying off." Teague had 19 points and 13 assists, Paul Millsap scored 18 points with 11 rebounds and the Hawks beat Orlando 104-94 on Saturday night. Arron Afflalo finished with 21 points for the Magic, who have dropped 15 straight on the road dating to last March 4. "Guys were just getting in position where they were open," Teague said. "I was hitting them, and they were making shots. Paul and Kyle had their pick and pop all night, and they were making them. When I was getting in the lane, I was doing my best to draw defenders and kick it to them." The Magic, who dropped to 0-3 on the road this season, got back in contention defensively by shutting down the passing lanes and forcing Atlanta to wind down the shot clock on multiple possessions late in the third and early in the fourth. Great resolve by that group over there -- the Hawks -- making shots." ETwaun Moore and Afflalo hit consecutive 3s midway through the final period to cut the lead to 79-77, and Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer called a timeout. Afflalo 3s put the Magic up 88-87 with 3:50 remaining, but they didnt lead again. "Theres just no room for error at that point," Afflalo said. "We just couldnt close the game off tonight." Teague, secure in his role after Atlanta re-signed him to a multiyear contract last summer, is showing the kind of leadership that Budenholzer wants from his point guard. "I think hes really starting to understand what were saying," Budenholzer said after his team improved to 3-3. "I think for the last week to 10 days that hes had a lot of opportunities and a lot of responsibility for the way we play. Hes doing a lot of good things. I think hes going to get better and better.
