DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers tied the game with an astonishing six-run rally in the ninth inning, then beat the Chicago White Sox 7-6 on Saturday night when Omar Infante hit an infield single with the bases loaded in the 12th. Bruce Irvin Raiders Jersey . Infantes grounder deflected off the glove of reliever Jacob Petricka (1-1) with one out, and the Tigers spilled onto the field with Comerica Park in a frenzy. Detroit plays its final scheduled home game of the year Sunday and can clinch a third straight AL Central title with a win and a Cleveland loss. Trailing 6-0 in the ninth, the Tigers scored five runs before the first out. Pinch-hitter Andy Dirks hit a three-run homer to pull Detroit within one. Al Alburquerque (4-3) got the win. The Tigers won after trailing by six in the ninth for the first time since Aug. 22, 1947, according to STATS. They beat the Washington Senators 7-6 that day. Chicagos Chris Sale was working on a shutout when he was pulled in the eighth after 97 pitches. Nate Jones got out of that inning and after the White Sox added three runs in the top of the ninth, he came back to the mound with a 6-0 lead. Detroit wasted no time turning a previously subdued night at the ballpark into a memorable one. Torii Hunter led off with a triple and scored on Miguel Cabreras single. After a single by Prince Fielder, Victor Martinez added an RBI double. The key hit came from Dirks, who followed Martinez with a homer that made it 6-5. Chicago closer Addison Reed, who didnt appear to have had much time to warm up, came on and immediately walked Infante, who moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ramon Santiago. Pinch-hitter Alex Avila and Austin Jackson both drew walks to load the bases for Hunter, whose sacrifice fly tied it. Cabrera walked to load the bases again, but Donnie Veal came on and got Prince Fielder to ground out to keep the game tied. Alburquerque threw two scoreless innings, and Detroit scored the winning run without hitting the ball out of the infield. Don Kelly walked and went to second on Fielders groundout. After an intentional walk to Martinez, Dirks walked to load the bases. Infantes grounder might have been a double play ball, but Petricka tried to field it, and when it bounced off his glove, the White Sox had no play. Sale allowed four hits and a walk. He struck out seven. Detroit starter Rick Porcello allowed two runs and six hits in 6 2-3 innings. He struck out nine. The White Sox scored two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth before a three-run ninth appeared to have put the game out of reach. Bryan Anderson hit a two-run double in the ninth. NOTES: Chicago acquired LHP Frank De Los Santos from Tampa Bay for a player to be named or cash. He will not be added to the major league roster. ... Detroit LF Matt Tuiasosopo made an outstanding diving catch for the third out in the seventh, preventing the White Sox from scoring more that inning. ... The Tigers send RHP Anibal Sanchez (14-7) to the mound Sunday to face Chicago RHP Erik Johnson (1-2). Menelik Watson Raiders Jersey . -- The Sacramento Kings are set to become the first major professional sports franchise to accept Bitcoin virtual currency for ticket and merchandise purchases. D.J.Hayden Raiders Jersey . Turkoglu, a key contributor to Orlandos surprise run to the 2009 NBA Finals, did not appear in a game this season as the team attempted to move the 34- year-old or negotiate a buyout of his contract. He participated in only 11 games for the Magicc in 2012-13, missing part of that campaign due to a suspension for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. Malcolm Smith Raiders Jersey. EUGENE, Ore. Cheap Moncler Coats UK . -- Marcus Mariota is more concerned about his Oregon teammates than he is about his knee. "They would have to pull me off the field before I wouldnt play," the sophomore quarterback said after throwing for 288 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-21 victory over Utah on Saturday. Questions remain about the health of Mariotas left knee, which limited his mobility last week when the sixth-ranked Ducks fell 26-20 to Stanford. Oregon does not discuss injuries, so its something of a mystery. Known for his scrambling ability, Mariota wore a knee brace against both the Cardinal and the Utes and finished both games with negative yardage on the ground. Utah sacked him three times, but any shortcomings didnt matter in the end against the Utes. Even with the threat of making the injury worse, Mariota says hes still playing for his team. It was important to him that the Ducks rebound decisively from the loss to Stanford -- which in all likelihood ended Oregons shot at a spot in the national championship game. "The guys in the locker room mean the world to me," he said. And as for the knee? "Ive learned to play with it. Im not going to use it as an excuse," he said. DeAnthony Thomas caught a touchdown pass and scored on an 86-yard kickoff return for the Ducks (9-1, 6-1 Pac-12). Byron Marshall ran for two additional scores but the Ducks were slowed on the ground by Utahs defence, rushing for 145 yards after averaging nearly 302 yards a game this season. Utah (4-6, 1-6) was dealt a blow before the game when starting quarterback Travis Wilson didnt make the trip to Eugene because of a concussion. Backup Adam Schulz threw for 157 yards and a touchdown and ran for another. After the game, Utes coach Kyle Whittingham suggested that more is going on with Wilson but he would not give details. Utah did not announce until Friday night that Wilson was not travelling with the team. "Ill expound on that Monday when I know more information. This has been an ongoing thing throughout the week. What I can say is its a head injury. He was not able to practice at all last week. Part of it was something that happened in the game last week, but theres more than that going on right now. Rather than say something that is not completely accurate, Im going to wait until Monday and talk a little more about it that week," Whittingham said. Wilson is averaging 203 yards passing per game this season. The 6-foot-7 sophomore thrown 16 touchdowns with 16 interceptions. Schulz had appeared in just three games for the Utes this season, completing 22 of 45 passes with one touchdown and one interception. "Ive been looking for an opportunity since Ive been here. I always talk about seizing the opportunity and there is no bigger stage really than Oregon at their place. I was ready to go," Schulz said. Utahs lone conference win this season came against Stanford. The Utes have lost four straight since then. Mariota hit Thomas with an 8-yard touchdown pass and the Ducks added a 31-yard field goal by true freshman Matt Wogan to make it 10-0 in the first quarter. Wogan took over as Oregons kicker for the final three games of the season, replacing Alejandro Maldonado, who missed a 37-yard field goal before halftime of the Ducks game against UCLA. The Utes narrowed the gap on Schulzs 34-yard pass to Jake Murphy with 2:52 left in the half. Murphy was making his return after wrist surgery following the Utes Oct. 3 loss to UCLA. It was thought that the junior tight end might miss the rest of the regular season. The Ducks answered the Utes quickly by scoring on Mariotas 5-yard pass to Josh Huff -- concluding a drive that took three plays and just 24 seconds -- to make it 17-7 at the half. After a 4-yard scoring run from Schulz, Oregon again quickly came back with Thomas touchdown on the kickoff return to make it 23-14. Thomas, who missed nearly four entire games with an ankle injury, looked like his old self on the run. "Im getting back to where I was: Just out there, having fun, contributing to the team," he said. The Ducks extended the lead on Mariotas 14-yard scoring pass to Johnny Mundt, and Marshalls 17-yard scoring run made it 37-14 with 32 seconds left in the third quarter. Marshall added a 16-yard touchdown run in the fourth. Soon thereafter, Oregon sat Mariota. With most of the Ducks starters out of the game, Bubba Poole ran for a 10-yard Utah touchdown with 6:01 left. Still a Heisman candidate despite the questions about his knee, Mariota has thrown for 25 touchdowns this season, and run for nine more. He has not thrown an interception since last season. Saturdays game was the first between the teams since Utah joined the conference in 2011. Oregon won the last meeting 31-24 at Autzen Stadium in 2009. Moncler Vest Sale . The Americans needed only one more point to win the Presidents Cup. And there was Tiger Woods, who has a history of delivering the winning point, in the middle of the fairway at Muirfield Village, where he has won a record five times. The Presidents Cup ended just the way it always does. Woods found the green and two-putted for par and a 1-up victory over Richard Sterne, the third straight time he has won the clinching point in the Presidents Cup. The Americans won for the fifth straight time -- and eighth time in 10 tries -- against an International side that showed some fight when it was too late to matter. The Americans, who finished strong Sunday morning in the rain-delayed foursomes for a 14-8 lead, only needed to win four singles matches. It took longer than anyone expected. "I must have asked 500 times, How are we getting this fourth point? Where is the fourth point coming from?" said Couples, a three-time winner as U.S. captain. "Youre nervous. Not for the players -- the players know what theyre doing. But we knew we needed 18 points, and we got them. It was a very, very good match today. And the matches were all close. At no given time was I a nervous wreck. But it was nice when Tiger two-putted that last green to get the 18th point." The final score -- United States 18 1/2, International 15 1/2 -- and whether the matches would beat the rain was really the only suspense on Sunday. "People say it was close. Jack (Nicklaus) said it was close," International captain Nick Price said. "You tell me. We were behind the 8-ball all day. If we pulled it off, it would have been miraculous." Not that his team of seven rookies didnt give it a shot. Zach Johnson closed out Branden Grace, 4 and 2, to give the Americans 17 points and assure them a tie. But it took more than an hour to get that last point. Weyburn, Sask., native Graham DeLaet holed out for birdie for the second time Sunday on the 18th hole, this time from a bunker to beat 20-year-old Jordan Spieth. Ernie Els found his putting touch and beat Steve Stricker. Marc Leishman rolled in a 15-foot par putt from the back fringe of the 18th green to beat Matt Kuchar. Adam Scott and Charl Schwartzel won their matches. The International teams fleeting hopes ended when Woods, despite suffering back spasms again in the final hour of his match, didnt make a birdie on the back nine and still won. Sterne helped him by hitting his tee shot off the corporate tents behind the 16th green and making bogey. "It was a team effort this whole week," said Woods, who went 4-1 for the best record of any player. "We really played well to give ourselves a nice lead." Rain interrupted the matches all week and made Muirfield Village so soft that it was mere target practice for the best players from every continent but Europe. It was a long, tiring week of leaving the course at darkness and completing matches the next morningg when it was just as dark. Cheap Moncler Jackets Sale. The Americans might have won this Presidents Cup on Sunday morning. Returning to finish off the foursomes session, the Americans picked up a win and a halve in matches they had trailed by three holes. Phil Mickelson hit one of many exquisite shots this week -- a 7-iron he had to hook with the ball slightly below his feet, around a tree to about 10 feet. Keegan Bradley had to make the birdie putt for a half-point after DeLaet chipped in for birdie. Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel played the last six holes in 5-over par -- three bogeys and a ball out-of-bounds for double bogey in losing to Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker. "It was a tall order, but they gave it their best shot. These guys played their tails off," Price said. "Were a real hodge-podge of a team that came together from four corners of the planet. And they gave the might of America a run for their money." The closing ceremony was moved indoors because of approaching rain, and it led to an awkward moment as the International team watched the Americans pass around the gold trophy and pose for the pictures before quietly filing out of the room. Since that famous tie in South Africa in 2003, the Americans have won by at least three points every time. Only one of them, in 2005, was close. International players talked about the importance of making a contest out of this exhibition, and only a 7 1/2-4 1/2win in singles made it feel that way at the end. "We kept it very interesting today," Scott said. "We gave it a good shake." Mickelson and Angel Cabrera were the last match on the course, and it was comical at times. Mickelson hit one shot that ricocheted off a tree to the left, skipped out of the water and into the rough, and he pitched that to 5 feet -- and then missed the putt to lose the hole. On the final hole, Cabrera had 3 feet for par to win the match. Instead of conceding, Mickelson first knocked in his 5-foot bogey putt, and then conceded. All in good fun, which is how the day felt. "There was no intensity. We played and enjoyed the day and the people here in Columbus," Mickelson said after four bogeys in the last five holes. "I thought it was going to be closed out early. On 12 or 13, they said, Your match is going to count. What? We ended up winning. Thats all that matters." Even with the captains able to control the pairings, the singles lineup was dull. Woods has played Els in South Africa, Greg Norman in Australia, Mike Weir in Canada and Y.E. Yang the same year the South Korean beat him in the PGA Championship. This time, he was up against Sterne. "I did my pairings to try to win the cup," Price said. It might not have mattered against a U.S. team so strong that every player was among the top 30 in the world. "They played golf that was incredible to watch," Price said. "But for this team, I would be honoured if they ever asked me to be captain of this team again. I dont care where it is." The next Presidents Cup is in South Korea in 2015 on another Jack Nicklaus design. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ChinaCheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap Jersey ' ' '
BRATISLAVA, Slovakia -- Boston Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara will captain Slovakia at the Sochi Games next month, hoping to improve on fourth place at the Vancouver Olympics. Ruben Amorim Jersey . Other major Slovak stars, including Chicago Blackhawks forwards Michal Handzus and Marian Hossa and St. Louis Blues goaltender Jaroslav Halak are also on the 25-man squad that coach Vladimir Vujtek announced on Tuesday. Defencemen Lubomir Visnovsky of the New York Islanders and Michal Sersen of HC Slovan Bratislava together with forward Marian Gaborik of the Columbus Blue Jackets made the team although they are still injured. Slovakia starts the Olympic tournament on Feb. 13 against the United States before facing Slovenia and Russia in Group A. In Vancouver in 2010, Slovakia surprised by placing fourth, its highest finish in Olympic ice hockey. The complete roster is as follows: Goaltenders: Peter Budaj, Jaroslav Halak, Jan Laco Defence: Ivan Baranka, Zdeno Chara, Dominik Granak, Martin Marincin, Andrej Meszaros, Andrej Sekera, Michal Sersen, Lubomir Visnovsky. There are nine Blue Jays scheduled to take part in the clubs 4th Annual Winter Caravan, running from January 9-18. I say 4th Annual because the Caravan was an annual event in the clubs early years but was abandoned for a time, only to be revived in 2011. Skipper John Gibbons and the players will be making stops in six spots around Ontario, including Oshawa, Kingston, Peterborough, St. Catharines, London and Mississauga to drum up interest in the team and the upcoming season. The Blue Jays have done this from coast to coast over the years, and for some fans its their only chance to meet the players up close. But the point is that the players involved, you would think, will have a role with the 2014 squad - or at least in the beginning. In other words, the odds of them being dealt between now and January 9 would appear to lessen. The nine include pitchers Brandon Morrow, Todd Redmond and Dustin McGowan and reliever Steve Delabar, along with catcher Justin Thole, outfielders Colby Rasmus and Anthony Gose and 1B/DH Adam Lind. Of that group, Rasmus and Lind have both been mentioned in trade talk. However, if Alex Anthopoulos is still trying to move them now, youd have to wonder why they are on this list thats being publicized the way it is. Rasmus, Gose and Lind are actually repeaters from last years Caravan. The other who took part last year included Drew Hutchison, Jose Bautista, Brett Cecil, Aaron Loup and  J.P Arencibia. None of those players were moved , save for J.P. who was cut loose a few weeks ago and then signed on with Texas. The Caravan doesnt guaranteee all these players will open the season as Blue Jays, it just show a degree of commitment from both sides at least for now. Jose Fonte Jersey. The other day, former "Big League" catcher Ed Herrman passed away. He spent 11 years in the Majors and is best known for his time with the Chicago White Sox. He actually finished his career in 1978 as the backup to Hall of Famer Gary Carter. Ed "Hoggy" Herrman, besides being tough as nails, was known for his ability to catch knuckleballers. In 1972, he made some history by catching all 49 starts of lefty knuckler Wilber Wood. Yes, that was 49 starts, when today a good durable pitcher starts between 32 and 35 per season. Well, those 49 appearances working together by Herrman and Wood were the most of any battery since Hardie Henderson and catcher Sam Trott of the old  Baltimore Orioles in the American Association, who were together for 52 back in 1884.  I cant see anyone touching that modern day mark put together by Herrman and Wood. One more note on Ed Herrman. His grandfather Marty "Lefty" Herrman pitched in the Majors - one game to be exact. He pitched one shutout inning of relief for the Brooklyn Robins on July 10 of 1918. When we talk about the Angels Mike  Trout and the Nationals Bryce Harper and how good they are at such a young age, it brings me back to Tigers Hall of Fame legend Al Kaline. In 1955 at the age of 20, Kaline won the American League batting  title with a .340  average. He slugged 27 homers, drove in 102 runs and had 200 hits on the nose for the only time in his career. The 21-year-old has three goals, four assists and a plus-5 rating in 24 games with the American Hockey Leagues Oklahoma City Barons this season.EDMONTON -- Ilya Bryzgalov once compared Edmonton to the North Pole. Now hes trying to help the Oilers find some direction. The free-agent goaltender agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Oilers on Friday, pending the completion of a trade with the Calgary Flames that cleared defenceman Ladislav Smids US$3.5-million cap hit off the books. It was not immediately clear what Bryzgalovs contract was worth, but a source said recent negotiations involved discussions about a pro-rated $3-million salary. The Philadelphia Flyers bought out of the final seven years of Bryzgalovs $51-million, nine-year contract last off-season. The 33-year-old goaltender went to training camp with the ECHLs Las Vegas Wranglers on a tryout but never signed a deal with that club. In Bryzgalov, general manager Craig MacTavish told the Oilers official website that the team was getting a goalie with a "history of being a high-performer in parts of his career" and whos "very motivated." "I believe in the power of the potential of people," MacTavish said in an interview with AM-630 in Edmonton. "Hes said and indicated all the right things to me in the conversations that Ive had. I think he has a chance to come in here and make a real impact on our team." Bryzgalov went 19-17-3 with a 2.79 goals-against average and .900 save percentage last season for the Flyers. The Oilers are in Philadelphia to play the Flyers on Saturday, and while Bryzgalov still lives in the area it was not likely that hed even be in uniform. According to reports, Bryzgalov could first go on a conditioning assignment with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL. His last NHL game was April 25. To set up the signing, the Oilers began their shake-up by sending Smid and goaltending prospect Olivier Roy to Calgary in exchange for centre Roman Horak and goaltending prospect Laurent Brossoit. "It was an opportunity to give us some cap (space) to do a few other things and add goaltending depth," MacTavish said, as quoted by the team. "I thank (Smid) for his work ethic and sacrifice on behalf of the hockey club and we wish him well." At 4-11-2, the Oilers are in last place in the NHLs Pacific Division, so the deal does not come as a surprise. Going into Fridays games, Edmonton was ranked last in the league with 3.82 goals-against. Goaltenders Devan Dubnyk, Jason LaBarbera and Richard Bachman were part of that, but there was also a belief the Oilers wanted to shore up their defence. Instead, they traded from their blue-line by dealing Smid to the Flames. The 27-year-old had one goal and one assist in 17 games and averaged more than two minutes a night on the penalty kill. The Oilers were not up against the cap ceiling, though its uncertain what other moves MacTavish has in store. He and president of hockey operations Kevin Lowe have seen scouted the New York Rangers and Flyers recently, but MacTavish expressed satisfaction in the teams recent play. "As bad as our record is, I see plenty of progress and maybe more important plenty of potential in this hockey club,"; MacTavish said on AM-630. Wesley Woodyard Titans Jersey. "Certainly no moves imminent and hopefully none for quite some time." Signing Bryzgalov marks a major move for the Oilers, who have a team save percentage of .879 this season. In his NHL career Bryzgalov has a .913 save percentage. His history with the city of Edmonton dates to 2006 when he defended then-Anaheim Ducks teammate Chris Pronger for requesting to be traded from the Oilers. Bryzgalov likened it to the "North Pole." "He may be tried to leave here because here in November months is a minus-32," Bryzgalov said in an interview with The Score. "Could you imagine? Its eight months in a year of snow." When playing for the Phoenix Coyotes amid rumours of the team moving to Winnipeg, Bryzgalov said he wouldnt like to live there because of a lack of parks and fellow Russians. Smid, who was sent from Anaheim to Edmonton as part of the Pronger trade, has 11 goals, 54 assists and 391 penalty minutes over 474 games with the Oilers. "(It was a) difficult trade for me because of the fact that Laddy was such a warrior for the hockey club for so many years here," MacTavish said on AM-630. He is known as a shutdown defenceman and one of the leagues best shot blockers and should help the Flames, who are without captain Mark Giordano (broken ankle) for another five to seven weeks. "We were looking to try to do something before Gio got hurt. We felt we needed to improve the mix of our six," GM Jay Feaster said in Calgary. "Certainly Giordanos injury makes this a more timely addition. Were happy to be able to do it now." Roy was selected in the fifth round, 133rd overall, by Edmonton in 2009. He had a stellar junior career with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the QMJHL, but has yet to suit up for an NHL game. He may get that chance in Calgary. The Flames have struggled for consistency in goal in their first season without Finnish workhorse Miikka Kiprusoff, who retired at the end of last season. Roy, 22, split last season between Oklahoma City and the ECHLs Stockton Thunder. He had a 2-2 record with a 3.29 GAA and .897 save percentage with the Barons this season. Horak, 22, has spent the past three seasons with the Flames, registering five goals, 13 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 82 games. He has 20 goals and 21 assists in 86 games with Abbotsford of the AHL. Horak was originally selected by the New York Rangers in the fifth round, 127th overall in the 2009 draft. Brossoit, 20, has spent the past four seasons with the Western Hockey Leagues Edmonton Oil Kings, posting a record of 88-34-13 in 146 career WHL games. In 2011-12, the native of Port Alberni, B.C., helped lead the Oil Kings to the best record in the WHL, posting a record of 42-13-5, including three shutouts. He went 16-4-0 in the post-season and was named the playoff MVP as the Oil Kings won the WHL championship and earned a berth in the Memorial Cup Tournament. Brossoit was originally selected by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round, 164th overall in the 2011 draft. SAN DIEGO -- After a tough few outings, Clayton Kershaw is backing to pitching at Cy Young form. Stephen Curry 2 Shoes For Sale . Kershaw rebounded with seven dominant innings and got two-run homers from Yasiel Puig and A.J. Ellis as the NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 4-0 on Saturday night. Two days after clinching their first division title since 2009, the Dodgers turned to their ace who delivered a gem as he struck out 10 and allowed just three hits. Kershaw (15-9) lowered his major league-best ERA to 1.88. He leads the NL with 224 strikeouts. The left-hander was held out of his last start on Wednesday to allow him more rest as the playoffs approach. "I felt good, so I guess thats a bonus," Kershaw said. A little bit erratic at first with the fastball but A.J. did a real good job of making me use all my pitches on both sides of the plate." In his previous three September starts, Kershaw wasnt as sharp as normal, going 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA. Kershaw is trying to become the first pitcher to lead the majors in ERA in three consecutive seasons since Atlantas Greg Maddux from 1993-95. The last Dodger to finish a season with a sub-2.00 ERA was Sandy Koufax (1.73) in 1966. San Diego had Kershaws number this season, defeating him in all three previous starts. The 2011 Cy Young Award winner was 0-3 with a 4.67 ERA in his first three starts against the Padres, while going 14-6 with a 1.71 ERA in his other starts. "(San Diego) is a tough team. They battle me," Kershaw said. "They put good at-bats on me and always seem to get my pitch count up. I felt good to finally get a win against these guys." Said Padres rookie second baseman Jedd Gyorko: "I think the difference was being able to get those key hits. You cant get him all the time and he kind of got us. Id say our at-bats were just as good as any other game against him. We just couldnt push through." San Diego had runners on first and second in the first with one out and men on second and third with no outs in the third and couldnt score either time against Kershaw. "Theyve been successful against him the last couple of years," Ellis said. "They grind him better than any team hes faced throughout the season. Hes kind of become a one-sided guy against these guys. The 30-year-old Young is fighting a pair of lawsuits stemming from a $1.8 million loan obtained in his name during the 2011 NFL lockout. Rookie Marek Mazanec made 39 saves for his first NHL victory and the Predators beat the Chicago Blackhawks 7-2 Saturday night. Craig Smith scored a goal and added two assists for the Predators. The three-point game equaled the Madison, Wis. natives career high. Matt Cullen, Nick Spaling, Patric Hornqvist, Viktor Stalberg, Mike Fisher and Shea Weber also scored for Nashville, which ended a four-game losing streak. Patrick Kane and Brandon Pirri had the goals for Chicago, which had its four-game winning streak snapped. Making his second start in as many days, Mazanec stopped seven shots in the first, 17 in the second, and 15 in the third. "Its awesome," Mazanec said. "I am really happy. We played a really good game." The 22-year-old Czech is playing his first season in North America. Nashville played its first home game since Oct. 26, having just returned from a seven-game road trip that spanned 17 days. They head back out on the road for games in Detroit and Toronto next week. "Good response by our guys today," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "We looked at this game as the end of road trip, not the first home game really because of the quick turnover and obviously playing the Stanley Cup champions." Cullen scored the games first goal at 7:28 of the opening period. From the slot, Smiths slap shot was stopped by Chicago goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin. The rebound fell to the right of the net, and a diving Cullen poked the rebound in for his third goal of the season. Less than a minute later, Spaling doubled the Nashville lead when his wrist shot from the right faceoff dot slipped just underneath the crossbar at 8:25. Later in the first, Khabibulin left thhe game with an injury after making stops on shots from Weber and Hornqvist. Derrick Favors Jersey. Corey Crawford replaced Khabibulin at 15:33. Following the game, the Blackhawks said that Khabibulin had a lower-body injury, but had no further update. "We got outworked," Chicago captain Jonathan Toews said. "We didnt do the things we needed to. We didnt win our battles, especially in the right areas we needed to win them in." Hornqvists sixth goal of the season came at 9:02 of the second to give Nashville a 3-0 lead. With Nashville on a power play, Roman Josis slap shot from just above the left faceoff circle was tipped by Hornqvist in front and beat Crawford on the short side. Smith and Kane traded goals late in the second, with Smith connecting at 18:18 and Kane answering 26 seconds later. "We just stayed positive and erased the last couple of games," Smith said. "We just kind of refreshed for this game. Its also nice to be home. Its a good feeling." Pirri briefly cut the Nashville lead to 4-2 at 6:14 of the third, but Stalberg, the former Blackhawk, struck back at 6:29. Fisher added his at 12:19. "It was a free night for them offensively, we were very gracious," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "We know what it takes and we know theyre going to be desperate." Weber scored on the power play at 14:07. His assist earlier in the game on Hornqvists goal was his 300th career NHL point. The seven goals were a season high for Nashville. DURBAN, South Africa -- Dawie van der Walt shot a 4-under 66 Saturday to win the Nelson Mandela Championship by two shots, giving the tournament a South African victory in a week when the country bids farewell to its former president. Mark Clayton Dolphins Jersey . Van der Walt finished with a three-round total of 15-under 195 as the sun eventually shone on the final day of the rain-shortened event. It was his second European Tour victory. Englands Matthew Baldwin (68) and Spains Jorge Campillo (68) were tied for second. Even before the rain disrupted the first two days, organizers had brought the schedule forward a day to make sure the tournament did not run over into Sunday out of respect for the state funeral of Mandela, the South African anti-apartheid leader who died just over a week ago. "Its making you kind of part of history, winning the Nelson Mandela at this time when its sad for everyone and everyones mourning and tomorrows the big day," Van der Walt said, wearing a black ribbon on his cap. "It obviously means a lot and can be something that I can keep close to my heart forever." Van der Walt lifted a trophy that depicts an image of Mandela surrounded by children and also won a painting bearing the signature of South Africas most famous figure. The tournament donated money to one of Mandelas charities, a childrens hospital that bears his name. Englishman Daniel Brooks had held a three-shot lead after the second round in Durban, which was only completed earlier Saturday because of the weather delays, but struggled with five bogeys and a double bogey in his final-round 76. Van der Walt, who was tied for second heading to the final 18 holes, made five birdies and an eagle to go with three bogeys on the Mount Edgecombe course. Coming in, he recovered from his third bogey at No. 11 by making eagle at No. 12 and birdie at No. 13. The South African also caught a break on the par-5 No. 14 when a shot heading toward the rough bounced favourably for him. Neither Baldwin nor Campillo could apply enough pressure in the final stretch, with Baldwin making just one birdie in his last 11 and Campillo crucially dropping a shot at No. 15. Campillo and Colin Nel on Friday became the first players to card 59s in a European Tour event, although their scores dont count as records because players were given preferred lies on the rain-soaked course. Frances Romain Wattel was alone in fourth on 12 under and South Africas Oliver Bekker fifth on 11 under. American John Hahn finished in a four-way tie for sixth alongside four-time European Tour winner Branden Grace. Logan Thomas Dolphins Jersey . The recently retired Stern was elected Friday to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and will be enshrined with the class of 2014 on Aug.Colorado Avalanche 3, Winnipeg Jets 2 - The Winnipeg Jets are now 2-2-1 on the road this season with each game being decided by one goal. On the season, the Jets are 5-6-2 and on the four-game road trip, are 1-1-1. The loss marked the first time this season the Jets lost when leading after two, and was also the first time this season the Colorado Avalanche trailed after two periods. It was a frustrating game from a Winnipeg standpoint and that was very evident in the post-game comments from the players, as well as coach Claude Noel. Frustrating because of missed chances that could have got them something out of this game, frustrated because the power play went zero for five and has now gone eight games without scoring, and frustrating because of defensive zone breakdowns. Colorado created some chances early as they tried to jump on a Jets team that had played the night before. Matt Duchene with his ninth of the year opened the scoring but for the most part, the Jets weathered the storm and just under three minutes after Duchenes goal, Bryan Little with his sixth of the year tied it and the first period ended 1-1. The Jets scored the only goal of the second period, with Blake Wheeler taking a drop pass from Little and blasting it through Semyon Varlamov for the go-ahead goal. Second period shots favoured the Jets 11-9. For parts of the period, the teams traded chances with both Varlamov and Al Montoya coming up with big saves. It was Montoyas second start of the season. Jan Hejda evened the game at 7:13 of the third; a goal that put the Jets on their heels forcing Montoya to come up with some big stops. With over seven minutes left, the Jets went on the power play with the opportunity to regain the lead but could not get any sustained pressure. That penalty kill again injected a little more life into the Avs with Paul Stastny scoring what proved to be the winner at 14:32. The Jets pressed in the final 90 seconds looking for the equalizeer but right now not much puck luck going the Jets way. Kiko Alonso Dolphins Jersey. . The Avs did force turnovers in the third, outshooting the Jets 17-6. From Evander Kane to Devin Setoguchi, the players felt the one goal lead after two periods should have turned into a win and that the Jets were their own worst enemy identifying giveaways and the struggling power play as areas that need to be fixed. Coach Noel agreed. "We could have won. We made poor decisions especially in the third. Mistakes cost us the last two goals, things we havent done lately." Coach Noel did talk about changing the personnel on the power play referencing last years power play struggles that are again costing them points. Andrew Ladd led the way with six shots on goal, Little five. Add missed shots as another concern as the Jets missed the net 20 times and had another 19 blocked.  Great chances went for not because of it. But the positive side of that is the chances were there. The Jets created enough offensively to win this game and to beat the top team in the Central Division. Prior to the game, it was learned that Paul Postma is out for an extended period of time with a blood clot in his leg. That news brought Adam Pardy into the game. Chris Thorburn returned to the lineup after missing 10 with Anthony Peluso coming out. The Jets are now 0-2 in the second game of back-to-backs, with eight more on the schedule. The road trip concludes in St. Louis Tuesday (TSN Jets, TSN 1290) with the Jets then returning home to face two Original Six teams, Chicago Saturday afternoon and Detroit Monday. Tuesday will be the second meeting of the season with the Blues, the Jets winning a seven round shootout at MTS centre the first meeting. A win and the Jets return home with five of a possible eight points, but again, a solid 60 minutes will be needed, and a solid 60 is something that has eluded the Jets on a number of occasions in the early going this season. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Auston Matthews Jersey ' ' '
The New York Islanders have acquired forward Thomas Vanek from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for forward Matt Moulson, a conditional first round draft pick in 2014 and a 2015 second round pick. Jeff Hornacek Jazz Jersey . Should the first round pick end up being in the top 10 this year, the Islanders have the option to defer the pick to the 2015 NHL Draft. Vanek, 29, is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2013-14 season. In 13 games this season, he has scored four goals and added five assists. The Austrian is in the final year of a seven-year deal he signed with the Sabres prior to 2007-08 worth an average annual value of $7.142 million. "We had opportunity to acquire an elite player and given where we are right now (.500), you go for it," Islanders general manager Garth Snow told TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie. "If we hadnt drafted so well, if we didnt have good prospects, we couldnt afford to take the risk," Snow told McKenzie on the steep price the Islanders paid to acquire Vanek. The Islanders had not held contract extension discussions with Vanek prior to acquiring him. Getting the deal done in October came as a surprise to many, but Sabres general manager Darcy Regier stated his pleasure with the return the team was able to get so early in the season. "It was something we felt we had to do," Sabres general manager Darcy Regier told reporters Sunday night. "I think this is more an overall deal that will improve this hockey club going forward." Vaneks agent Stephen Bartlett told McKenzie that his client is "excited to be an Islander." "Well take it day by day and focus on the short term for now and see where we are at seasons end," Bartlett told McKenzie.. Vanek has scored 254 goals and 243 assists in 598 career NHL games, all with the Sabres. He has eclipsed the 30-goal plateau on four occasions, including a career-high 43 in 2006-07. The Sabres originally selected him fifth-overall at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Moulson has scored six goals and three assists with the Islanders in 11 games so far in 2013-14. He, too, is set to become an unrestricted free agent at seasons end. He is in the final season of a three-year deal worth an average annual value of $3.13 million. Moulson has emerged as an offensive threat alongside Islanders captain John Tavares. He has scored 30-or-more goals in his last three full NHL seasons, including a career-best 36 in 2011-12. The 29-year-old expressed his surprise at the end of his Islanders tenure to ESPNs Katie Strang, saying "I thought this could be a possibility but I didnt think this was going to happen." "I guess this is what happens in pro sports," Moulson told Strang. "I gotta move on. Ill obviously miss everyone, but this will be a new chapter." He was originally selected in the ninth round (263rd-overall) by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He has scored 124 goals and 109 assists in 333 career NHL games with the Islanders and Los Angeles Kings. The Sabres are currently last in the Eastern Conference with a 2-10-1 record and just five points through their first 11 games. BUFFALO, N. Per Mertesacker Arsenal Jersey .Y. -- The NHL is already interested in Sabres owner Terry Pegulas $172-million downtown Buffalo hockey/entertainment complex, even though the facility is not completed yet. Commissioner Gary Bettman told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the league is considering the Sabres pitch to relocate the NHLs annual pre-draft scouting combine from Toronto to Buffalo. "Its something thats being discussed, and I know its something that Ted Black is vigorously pursuing," Bettman said by phone, referring to the Sabres president. "Its a work in progress. We havent made any decisions. But were taking the expression of interest very seriously." Bettman made the revelation during an interview regarding Pegula and the facility hes building. Its called HarborCenter, and is currently under construction across the street from the Sabres arena. In a text to the AP, Black said discussions with the NHL regarding Buffalo hosting the combine have been taking place for the past several months. "The NHLs interest in Buffalo is very flattering and it is another example of the ways that were trying to promote Buffalo and HarborCenter as an international hockey destination," Black wrote. The facility is set to open in October and feature two ice rinks, 11 locker rooms, classroom space and a high-performance training facility. HarbourCenter will be connected to the Sabres arena and eventually also include a full-service hotel, which is set to open next year. The combine is run by the NHLs Central Scouting Bureau and is traditionally held in Toronto in late May. It brings together the leagues top draft-eligible prospects for testing and workouts that are open to the NHLs 30 teams. The testing is exclusively done off-ice inside a convention centre room. Some teams, including the Sabres, prefer to also hold additional on-ice workouts with prospects. HarborCenter has the potential to do both on- and off-ice testing under one roof. The complex is already attracting interest in hockey circles. Earlier this month, USA Hockey announced its annual All-American Prospects game will be played in Buffalo for the next two years. USA Hockey executive director Dave Ogrean has called HarborCenter a one-of-a-kind hockey facility in America. Ogrean anticipates HarborCenter will lead to USA Hockey hosting other events in Buffalo. OTTAWA -- Alex Stalock waited a long time for his first NHL start, but says it was well worth it. Frank Bagnack Jersey . The 26-year-old stopped 38 shots and was instrumental in leading the San Jose Sharks to a 5-2 win over the Ottawa Senators Sunday night. Stalock, who previously had made just three appearances in relief of starter Antti Niemi, admitted he was nervous and excited. "I think it helped a lot being a five oclock game for me and not having to sit around all night and come to the rink and go through the routine," he said. "It was a little easier than sitting around all day in my hotel room." Stalock made 16 saves in the first period and helped the team jump out to a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play. "Maybe its a good thing that I saw a lot early and was able to feel it," said Stalock. "They were kind of shooting it from everywhere, which I was kind of expecting they would, but not being in a game yet I was lucky enough to make saves." Stalocks teammates were happy to see him pick up the win and were thrilled to be able to give him a few early goals to help with his confidence. "Hes been patiently waiting behind (Niemi) and to come out with a performance like that was huge for us," said Sharks captain Joe Thornton. Tomas Hertl, Andrew Desjardins, Tommy Wingels, James Sheppard and Joe Pavelski scored for the Sharks (10-1-1), who were playing their fourth of a five-game road trip. The Senators (4-5-2) received goals from Erik Karlsson and Marc Methot, who picked up his first of the season. Craig Anderson made 24 saves in defeat. This marked the first time this season that the Sharks had been outshot in a game. The Senators have few answers for their play of late, but realize things have to change. For the second straight game Ottawa allowed the opposition to jump out to a 2-0 lead. "We cant spot good teams leads," said Senators captain Jason Spezza. "We get behind and then it doesnt matter what we do, were chasing the whole game." The Senators lack of urgency proved costly as the Sharks scored two early third-period goals to put the game out of reach. Sheppard scored his first of the season as he beat Anderson far side and Pavelski made it 5-2 after burying a big rebound. Trailing 3-1 to start the second period, the Senators gave the home crowd something to cheer about when Methot closed the gap with a bullet from just inside the blue line. A poor start by Ottawa proved to be the difference yet again. "I just thought we chased the game the whole night," said Ottawa coach Paul MacLean. "Im very concerned about the way that weve played to this point in the season." In the past the Senators would often struggle at the start of games, but were resilient and became known for their ability to come back late. "Our identity in the past has been a hard-working group thats very competitive and comes to play the whole game and plays hard the whole game," added MacLean. "Right now we dont do that. So what is our identity?" The Senators were chasing the Sharks nearly from the start of the game. Hertl opened the scoring at 1:16 as the puck bounced over Senators defenceman Joe Corvos stick, allowing Hertl to quickly put it between Andersons legs. Just over five minutes later sloppy play by the Senators in their own end allowed Desjardins to make it 2-0 as he picked up a rebound and scored off his backhand. Ottawa cut the lead in half midway through the period, as Karlsson was able to score through traffic. With Senators forward Cory Conacher creating a screen Stalock barely had a chance to see the shot until it was behind him. Any momentum from the Ottawa goal was lost after giving up a short-handed goal with less than two minutes remaining in the period. Karlsson bobbled the puck at his own blue line and San Joses Logan Couture took off on a breakaway. While Anderson made the initial save the puck rested in the crease and Wingels banged it in to restore the two-goal lead. "Right now we make a mistake and it ends up in our net," said Anderson. "Im not sure how you change that. Obviously you need a little bit of luck, but at the same time youve got to limit the amount of mistakes you make." This was the second and final meeting between the two teams this season.
