LOS ANGELES -- A former assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors reportedly recorded conversations of coaches and players without their knowledge before being fired by the team earlier this month. Carlos Ruiz Blue Jersey . ESPN, citing anonymous sources, reported Tuesday that Darren Erman secretly recorded coaches meetings, conversations between coaches and players, and informal discussions. Its unclear what Erman did with the alleged recordings. Golden State fired Erman on April 5 for what the team called a "violation of company policy." The Warriors neither confirmed nor denied the report Tuesday, saying only that they "were unaware of the violation, and when made aware, we took immediate action." Erman already has landed a job with another team. A spokesman for the Boston Celtics confirmed to The Associated Press that the team hired Erman as an NBA scout. Erman was in his third season with the Warriors after spending four years with the Celtics, where he worked under Doc Rivers, who is now the coach of the Los Angeles Clippers. Erman also coached the Warriors summer league championship team in Las Vegas last year. Erman was the second assistant dismissed from Mark Jacksons staff this season. Jackson reassigned Brian Scalabrine -- a former Celtics player -- to the teams NBA Development League affiliate in Santa Cruz on March 25 because of what Jackson called a "difference in philosophies." At Golden States shootaround before Game 5 in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Jackson declined comment when asked about the reports but said Erman is "an outstanding coach who did a great job." Jackson also reiterated that the moves involving two of his assistants -- which have fueled discussion about his own job status after the season -- are not representative of a dysfunctional atmosphere on his staff. "There was no dysfunction," Jackson said. "I had a great staff. Its been a great year, and we are 2-2 with an opportunity to win Game 5 against this Clippers team. "Were not trying to circumvent what the NFL will do. This is about making sure that Aldon has the opportunity to work on something, to get better, and he knows that he has our support and hopefully he has everybodys support in something that has been very difficult." York expects Smith to get help on his own, but the 49ers wont interfere. "I think Aldon is going to take steps on his own," York said. Smith is a key pass rusher and sacks leader for the 49ers, and coach Jim Harbaugh had said leading up to Sunday that the NFL would decide how to puniish the third-year pro, who turns 24 Wednesday. Earlier this month, a lawsuit was filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court naming Smith by a Northern California man who said he was shot at a party at Smiths house on June 29, 2012. The players charged a $10 admission and $5 per drink, the lawsuit said. Smith and former 49ers tight end Delanie Walker, 29 were allegedly intoxicated on Smiths balcony when they later fired gunshots in the air while trying to end the party, the lawsuit said. Before the 2012 home opener last September, Smith was the passenger in a car accident in Santa Clara County in which the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer. Smith sustained a cut beneath his right eyebrow. He apologized and insisted he had grown up. The 49ers selected Smith seventh overall in the first round of the 2011 draft out of Missouri. He became an instant impact player like many of the others chosen by general manager Trent Baalke in the past three drafts.
