Shanghai, China (SportsNetwork.
Terry Bradshaw Jersey .com) - Top-seeded
reigning two-time champion Novak Djokovic and former world No. 1 Roger Federer
reached the third round, while former top-ranked great Rafael Nadal was sent
packing Wednesday at the $4 million Shanghai Masters tennis event. Playing with
a bout of appendicitis this week, the second-seeded Nadal lost his second
straight match, this time in 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) fashion at the hands of fellow
Spanish left-hander Feliciano Lopez. Nadal also came up a quarterfinal loser
last week at the China Open, his first tournament back after missing three
months of action with a right wrist injury. For sure [I dont feel] perfect, said
Nadal. Its the same way that I felt before. A little bit more dizzy now. But
thats it. Nothing that I have to worry about. When you lose a match, it is not
the moment to talk about obvious things. I lost. Feli played better than me.
Nadal, who has been taking antibiotics for the appendicitis, began feeling pain
in his abdomen on Saturday, and the next day went to a hospital where he learned
he had the early stages of the condition. Nadal said he opted for antibiotics
rather than undergo surgery right away. The French Open champion said the risk
of his condition getting any worse after a few days of steady improvement is
always very, very low. The 2009 Shanghai runner-up said he will talk with his
doctors when he returns to Spain about whether hell need to have the appendix
removed. Meanwhile, the current world No. 1 Djokovic handled Austrian Dominic
Thiem 6-3, 6-4 and the third-seeded Federer barely survived against Argentine
Leonardo Mayer, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (9-7), in 2 hours, 42 minutes, as Mayer led 5-2 in
the third-set tiebreak before the Swiss legend fought back to advance at Qizhong
Forest Sports City Arena. The 2010 Shanghai runner-up Federer saved five match
points on Wednesday. It was the second-most match points he has saved in his
career. Federer saved seven match points in a first-round win over Scott Draper
in Cincinnati in 2003. Djokovic is undefeated in his last 11 matches in Shanghai
and is looking to lift the trophy here for the third year in a row. Already a
Masters winner in Indian Wells, Miami and Rome this season, the 27-year-old star
is chasing his 20th Masters title. He dismantled Tomas Berdych for the China
Open championship last week. Djokovic beat Juan Martin del Potro in last years
Shanghai finale. Another top-five upset came when former top-10 Frenchman Gilles
Simon foiled fourth-seeded Australian Open champ Stan Wawrinka, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4,
on Day 4. And American Jack Sock posted a big upset by tackling seventh-seeded
U.S. Open runner-up Kei Nishikori 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. The Japanese star Nishikori
was fresh off his titles in Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur and had won 15 of his
previous 16 matches on tour. Eleventh-seeded former world No. 1 Andy Murray
continued his recent run of fine play by besting 6-foot-8 Pole Jerzy Janowicz
7-5, 6-2. Murray captured his first title in 15 months on Shenzhen, China, two
weeks ago and was a semifinalist in Beijing last week. Murray titled here in
Shanghai in 2010 and 2011 and was the runner-up in 2012. In other action
involving top-10 seeds, No. 5 David Ferrer overcame Slovak Martin Klizan 4-6,
7-6 (7-4), 6-4; a No. 6 Berdych drubbed Frenchman Richard Gasquet 6-3, 6-1;
Argentine wild card Juan Monaco doused No. 8 Canadian Milos Raonic 5-2, retired;
and Frenchman Julien Benneteau upended No. 10 Grigor Dimitrov 7-5, 6-3. Raonic
was last weeks Tokyo runner-up to Nishikori. Also on Wednesday, 13th-seeded John
Isner edged out fellow American Steve Johnson 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (9-7); 14th-seeded
Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut outlasted Canadian Vasek Pospisil 7-6 (7-1), 3-6,
6-4; Tunisian qualifier Malek Jaziri beat Chinese wild card Chuhan Wang 6-0,
6-4; and Russian Mikhail Youzhny snuck past Croat Ivan Dodig 7-6 (9-7), 6-7
(4-7), 6-3. The third round will be staged on Thursday, as Djokovic will face
Kazakhstans Mikhail Kukushkin, Federer will meet Bautista Agut, and the 2011
Shanghai runner-up Ferrer will tangle with the resurgent Murray in some featured
matches. This weeks big winner will collect $798,450.

ANGELES, Calif. - After 19 consecutive starts without a victory, Hector Noesi
finally got one against the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers. And his teammates
were just as happy as he was to see the drought end. Jose Abreu homered for the
second straight game after coming off the disabled list, and Tyler Flowers also
went deep to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 4-1 victory on Tuesday night. "It
was good for Hector to get that off his back, and hopefully it just keeps going
for him," manager Robin Ventura said. "Youre happy for him with everything hes
been through this year — being on a bunch of teams. And pitching the way he did
tonight was a little icing on the cake. For him to go through a lineup like that
was impressive." Noesi (1-3) won as a starter for the first time since May 6,
2012 with Seattle, after going 0-12 with a 5.42 ERA. The 27-year-old
right-hander allowed a run and five hits over six innings with six strikeouts.
Noesi walked three of his first nine batters, but all the Dodgers could get out
of it was a sacrifice fly in the second inning by Dee Gordon. "He was
effectively wild and didnt really give us much to hit," Los Angeles catcher
Drew Butera said. "He had a really good changeup, which is his pitch, and he
threw it in fastball counts. When we were sitting on the fastball, he didnt
really give us the same look on any one fastball." Former Dodgers reliever
Ronald Belisario pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save. "I think tonight
he was a little fired up and had some adrenaline going," Ventura said. "Thats
what happens anytime a guy goes back and sees his former team." Dan Haren (5-4)
gave up four runs on six hits through six innings. Abreu put the right-hander in
a 2-0 hole right away with his team-high 17th homer, driving an 0-1 pitch into
the lower seats in the left field corner after Gordon Beckham doubled off the
top of the fence in left. On Monday, Abreu came off the disabled list and opened
the scoring with a two-run shot against Clayton Kershaw before the Dodgers
rallied. Abreu is this years Cuban rookie sensation. Yasiel Puig was last years,
and hes been even better so far this season — even if he is still sometimes a
bit unpredictable.
Authentic Antonio Brown Jersey. The right
fielder was tardy for an earlier-than-usual pregame workout with his teammates.
Unlike opening day, when manager Don Mattingly scratched him from the lineup for
being late for batting practice, Puig remained in the third spot in the order
and doubled his first time up. He went 2 for 4 with a double for the Dodgers on
the one-year anniversary of his major league debut. Haren, who has walked no
more than two batters in 11 of his 12 starts, issued a leadoff walk to
Adam Eaton and Abreu drove him in with a fielders choice grounder for Chicagos
second run. Flowers increased the margin to 3-1 in the fourth with his 27th big
league homer — and his first to the opposite field. "We know hes got a few
different weapons," Flowers said. "And even though he doesnt throw overly hard,
he changes speeds well and can make the ball move in every direction. So you
kind of pick a half of the plate and stick with that. " The defending NL West
champions put two men on base with two out in the seventh and eighth innings,
but Zack Putnam escaped both threats by retiring Adrian Gonzalez and Dee Gordon
on flyballs to centre field. "Were struggling to put a few wins together, but
were not down. Were still optimistic," Butera said. NOTES: On the eve of the Los
Angeles Kings showdown with the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup
Finals, former Dodger 3B Ron Cey said he would be rooting against the Rangers
because they eliminated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round. Ceys
nickname has always been "The Penguin" because of the way he ran the bases. ...
Puig was named NL Player of the Month for May, after batting .398 with eight
homers and 25 RBIs in 28 games. His 43 hits tied Willie Davis L.A. Dodger record
for that month. Puig received the same honour last June. ... White Sox LF
Adam Dunn started in the cleanup spot, despite the fact that he came in 2 for 18
lifetime against Haren with eight strikeouts. Ventura gave Dunn the night off on
Monday against Kershaw, even though he was 8 for 13 with four home runs against
the two-time Cy Young Award winner.
